Cindy Luis covers University of Hawaii volleyball for the Star-Advertiser. She began her career as a sports journalist in Hawaii in 1981 with the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and was the sports editor, assistant sports editor, columnist and beat writer during a 31-year span before the paper became the Star-Advertiser. She graduated from UCLA in 1977 with a B.A. in Communication Studies.

Sorry, got a little distracted. They didn’t start until 330. Pretty much the same drills as yesterday. serve and pass, peppering within position groups. Just noticed Manu-Olevao not here. Didn’t have time to ask before they went on the court. Could be a church commitment. Will find out later. Shoji again got in the mix, a little platform work with a couple of players and then some digging drills with them.
sorry for the delay, issues with UHM wireless. never strong on a Saturday. Anyway, not a lot of difference from the routine this morning. Agility drills then a lot of serve and pass. Small groups working out by position. At the moment, Wong hitting to the OHs, Baxter to the Ls and MBs and Ah Mow-Santos to the setters for passing drills.

For the second year, the Wahine Volleyball Booster Club is running an Ace Club pledge program, asking fans to make a monetary pledge per ace scored by the team. A Roofing Co. pledge for blocks is also being added this year. Funds raised from this program go to support the Rainbow Wahine Volleyball Program. Finally got to watch the DVRd show. Too bad it was so short. There have been a couple of times with players transferring out that the phrase ‘addition by subtraction’ has been used.
