Cindy Luis covers University of Hawaii volleyball for the Star-Advertiser. She began her career as a sports journalist in Hawaii in 1981 with the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and was the sports editor, assistant sports editor, columnist and beat writer during a 31-year span before the paper became the Star-Advertiser. She graduated from UCLA in 1977 with a B.A. in Communication Studies.

First, thank you all for the comments on the other thread. just doing my job. The normal practice routine for about 3 hours. Small groups by position serve and pass, then a couple of 4s on 4s and 3s on 3s min scrimmages. next session had two courts of 6 being served to, running plays and alternating hitters taking swings. They went late, 5:30-815. supposed to end at 8 but they were in a middle of playing ‘baseball.’ one of Shoji’s favorite scrimmage games. Don’t ask me to explain it. somehow points equal either base runners or runs, opposing kills and blocks equals outs. Suffice it to say, it went extra innings.
