Finally back in Hawaii. Been a long two weeks but a good trip. Yesterday was a 21-hour day. And for those of you who are my FB friends, no, I didn’t take the $150 upgrade to first. Anyway from the BWC. Looks like they allowed coaches to vote for their own team. For the second straight year the University of Hawai‘i has been selected as the Big West Conference’s top pick in the women’s volleyball preseason poll, as selected unanimously […]
Will be leaving for San Diego today then up to Washington state. I will have sporadic internet access. Will be at the National Training Center Thursday in Anaheim to check in with the women’s national team, assistant Reed Sunahara and libero Tama Miyashiro. Very much looking forward to it.
It’s been out there on social media a while ago but I been waiting for official word from Sealy since June. Former Wahine setter Monica Stauber had committed to Santa Clara originally but when Becca Strehlow transferred after spring from UCLA to Pepperdine (although nothing from pepperdine yet) it opened up a spot with the Bruins. Sealy said it happened very quickly. kind of bang-bang and fell into place. She’ll be competing for playing time with Moenoa.
As mentioned earlier, the Wahine were tentatively scheduled to play a Japanese team on Sept. 25. it’s an exhibition right after the Wahine return from Wichita tourney and before they start Big West. thanks to roofer for noticing that UH made it official on the schedule with Toyota Auto Body, the team they played last year. The Queenseis. Kanani Danielson was unable to play for them against the Wahine last year because her contract didn’t begin until the next week. […]
Thanks for all the kind wishes. I know I should have said something earlier about being MIA but didn’t it likely will be lost on Tama’s thread but agree that it was sad they played the finale in a high school gym. I’m supposed to be chatting with Reed Sunahara, the U.S. women’s assistant, later this week and will ask about the reasoning. The good news is there is something in the works for the U.S. men to play at […]
sorry to be MIA for the past 2 weeks. Had surgery and been recouping. anyway, Tama Miyashiro (Kalani/UW) was the starting libero Saturday night as Team USA defeated Japan 25-15, 25-19, 21-25, 23-25, 15-10 at Serra High School in San Juan Capistrano. sadly the gym only held 2,000 and it was a sellout. Top-ranked Team USA is now 8-0 under Karch Kiraly.
couple of different schedules posted, as mentioned on another thread. Nothing out of WSU yet UH sked (revised since first posted as playing on 20-21) Thurs, 19 South Dakota (SD says they play UH morning of 21st) Friday, 20. Creighton Saturday 21 Wichita State My guess is UH is correct, with the thursday date. and since Shoji was just in Wichita … gives the wahine plenty time to travel after playing Arizona on the 14th, a Saturday. and then back home […]
