from previous thread….so has Matautia passed Rosie for the start or did he start this past weekend since it was a “lesser” opponent?

  2. Cindy Luis March 5, 2018 1:42 pm

    1. i don’t think it was either. Wade said after the loss to UCI that he thought about starting Matautia the second night against the Anteaters but went with Rosenmeier. They won with him on Friday.
Don’t think ‘less opponent’ had anything to do with it. He decided to give Matautia playing time.

Matautia nominated for 2 Big West awards. POW and DPOW. both went to UCSB players.

I know it’s unlikely but would love the Wahine to get Alyse Ford and Lexi Sun
Or even Alyse Ford and Angel Gaskin.

  4. Warriorfan March 5, 2018 2:10 pm

Hopefully Austin will keep playing well against higher level competition but it’s nice to have Rosie he will probably be motivated when called upon to get back his starting role.

  5. WaWa March 5, 2018 8:08 pm

My money is on Ford & Gaskin. At least one of them. Ford has a similar skill set to Granato. Scrappy, hard hitting, weaker passing, but Ford has a little more spring in her jump.

  6. Hot March 5, 2018 8:20 pm

I think Rosenmeier won the starting job because he’s the better passer. And with Stijn as the third primary passer, UH needs Rosenmeier to stabilize serve receive along with the libero. Matautia, on the other hand, is a more efficient attacker but probably not as steady with ball control as Rosenmeier.

  7. ManoaFan March 5, 2018 9:20 pm

Rosenmeier has had some incredible digs this season.

    Tyanna omazic?

  9. vballfreak808 March 6, 2018 2:04 pm

Wahine got a 2020 commit from Kate Lang out of Keller, Texas. She is a 5’10” setter

  10. Brandon March 6, 2018 2:15 pm

Robyn and co are doing such a good job. If you can nab a recruit from tav, you know you’re doing a good job.

  11. Kazu March 6, 2018 3:53 pm

Wow ! 2020 is still a long way off and anything can happen, but if she comes thru its nice to see some one from Texas. 2019 got one from Ohio. Love it when we start getting players from that part of the country. Maybe one from Europe , and South America. ( Dreaming of course )

  12. kahuna March 6, 2018 4:21 pm

Kazu….I think you missed the girl from Louisiana, 6-3 Amber Igiede. So far we got Wagoner(2019) from Ohio, Igiede(2019) from Louisiana and Lang(2020) from Texas. The Midwest must be where Robyn feels the talent is. No one from Cali so far and we don’t have many spots left to fill.

Someone also mentioned on another site that an European is a possibility for 2019.

  13. kahuna March 6, 2018 4:23 pm

    https://sportsrecruits.com/athlete/amber_igiede

Can’t find any twitter or instagram post from Amber herself but the site about listed her as committed to UH so I am assuming it legit.

  14. LLoyd March 6, 2018 5:18 pm

Watch Angel Gaskin many times at UMD Xfinity Center gym for the past 3 years but she is not that as an opposite.
Well she will be spending just one year but she is not bad addition to the team but her teammate Gia Melania is one of the best hitter and passer at TERPS.

  15. Kazu March 6, 2018 8:14 pm

12 Thanks. I thought there was a third one but couldn’t remember. Getting up there so things slip my mind every so often.

  16. Bleachercoach March 6, 2018 8:59 pm

So are we getting one of those transfers? ; Gaskin or Ford? Wow they really would help us if that was true. If we could get Lexi Sun ( highly unlikely) then we really could be heading for greatness. I watched Amber Igiede. She reminds me of past wahine standout, Kee Williams.

  17. idk March 6, 2018 9:36 pm

Nice get with Kate Lang. While Wagoner received MVP for winning the 16 opens division with her team at the GJNC in 2017, Lang was also receiving all tournament honors as her team won the 15 opens division.

  18. Warriorfan March 6, 2018 9:49 pm

Lang has great credentials are there videos of her anywhere? Too bad she is on the short side but in setters hands are more important than anything. Great start to the 2020 class too bad Oglivie sounds like a longshot there. lang has better credentials than long beach 2020 commit Mia Tuaniga.

I believe the wahine have room for one more in 2019 class and maybe two . And they will need a setter to replace Maafala and libero to replace akiu. I wonder if they are recruiting Lexis Akeo?

Glad recruiting has really picked up it was really quiet for a long time and had me a little worried.

  19. Hot March 7, 2018 7:43 am

    19. “Need a libero to replace Akiu” – so Ross, Gong and Okino are no-gos?

    Also, has Oglivie committed anywhere?

  20. po’okela March 7, 2018 1:29 pm

    she’s #10

it looks like they sub her out when in the front row to put up a bigger blow but for a sophomore, she’s got a lot of potential to succeed under RAMS.

    https://youtu.be/yE8uYDUFqy4

but wow… lang, igiede, castaneda, wagoner and hopefully oglive… these upcoming years are looking to be very exciting.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_76K29Nx-LI&list=PLF4F9SlsZW400MIEtFAtbRQSw8DSmCoz4 Here’s more of Lang with TAV 15 Black. She really doesn’t make many mistakes. Again subs out in the front row but it better video of her. For such a young setter her location is solid.

  22. Warriorfan March 7, 2018 6:34 pm

Ucla losing a lot and uci getting all they can handle from ipfw, those losses at home are looking a lot worse :/

  23. Warriorfan March 7, 2018 7:12 pm

Uci loses to ipfw wow that is a bad loss for them, warriors just need to take care of business and never play as bad as they did that second uci match.

  24. Kahuna March 7, 2018 7:38 pm

I don’t think 5-10 is all that small. Noreen Iosia is 5-11 and only one inch taller than Kate. If she is athletic, have high VB IQ and have good location, she will make up for her lack of size…..see Joe Worsley from our #2 ranked Warrior a Volleyball team. Dude is only 6-0 and block on the right side while in the front row. Worsley constant try to block guys 6-4 and taller. He hold his own against the best in the nation.

  25. Warriorfan March 7, 2018 8:13 pm

Joe played front row in club though, I remember watching his club team beat delfalco’s club team for the 18 open title.
If Coach Robyn gets Lexis Akeo we could see a 6-2? Maybe even a 6-2 next season with Noreen and Faith.

  26. Andy March 8, 2018 7:27 am

UCLA Beach Volleyball is tweeting updates. Zolpany and Drueews drop first set.

  27. Ki March 8, 2018 8:15 am

Savvy Simo and Zana Muno (UCLA) def. Hannah Zalopany and Paige Drueews (Hawai’i), 21-9, 21-15 in Flight 5

  28. Andy March 8, 2018 8:19 am

Zolpany/Drueews and Ozee/Homayun both swept. UCLA UP 2-0. Maglio pair dropped first set, Kan pair won it’s first.

  29. Andy March 8, 2018 8:49 am

Maglio and Kan pairs both go down.

  30. Warriorfan March 8, 2018 9:51 am

Not a good day for the beach team oh well regroup and take down lmu, lsu and florida state need to get more quality wins.
