Other end of the Spectrum

Last night’s game was the end of the baseball season, UH’s 2016-2017 sports schedule and telecasts under the OC Sports label.

When UH sportscasts return — perhaps with the Aug. 26 game against UMass? — they will be shown on Spectrum Sports. This is a result of the ownership changeover from Oceanic.

The same on-air talent will return, as well as the unsung production crew. While you were lazing on the La-Z-Boy last night, there were 30 people working on the UH baseball telecast. Most still were there — including Russell Yamanoha — putting away equipment and coiling the cables.

To paraphrase a UH coach, we tip our caps to the OC Sports crew.

Foist! I’m hoping they return the “Home Team” and K5 and make UH sports more accessible to all…

  2. bowwar May 28, 2017 8:50 am

Unfortunately, not everyone has cable and we lose alot of viewers just because UH sports is not 100% accessible.

What a fun game last night. Pouelsen is fun to watch diving all over the place. Doi and Sniffin were hitting and Sniffin was going all out base running. Ryan and Thomas’ pitching and UH coming back from being down 2-6 in the 3rd.
Long ball catches by the UCSB outfielders and a couple balls they almost caught over their heads.

    Kalua pig:
    No.

Give that kid a second chance! We all make mistakes, he’s a good kid!

Undecided on kennedy issue, see both sides peeps making.

Imho and fwiw what is best for the program and what Rolo is building must fit for his return to Warrior fb.

People make their own second chances.
A UH coach has a phrase: Don’t be a turd.
Nobody has to be friendly or nice. Nobody has to get all A’s.
The minimum requirement at UH is to go to class, don’t be tardy to meetings or practices, and don’t be a turd.

Wonder if “Russell” was the same Russell Rap Riplinger
used to shout in his “room service” video…
    🙂

@bowar 1&2, couldn’t agree with you more! Have to drive 20 minutes each way to watch the games because we don’t have cable in our neck of the woods. Oh how I long for the days of K5!

Hope Kennedy can get back on the team. He deserves a 2nd chance for sure. We’ve always given guys another chance (DBess, Pisa, Colt…) Lets get KT back!

  10. H-Man May 28, 2017 1:27 pm

    Is Kennedy still in school?

An Oceanic tech/repair woman told me earlier this year that Charter/Spectrum was considering putting an end to all local sportscasting: UH and high school. But the C/S honchos were coming to Hawaii to discuss this with Oceanic first. Guess a decision was made to honor the contract … for now. Selfishly, I’m grateful they’re continuing this service.

Seems like Eli will be starting center, wonder if Ulu-Perry will be moved over to another position.

Looking forward to seeing D-Line returnees such as Peni Faalologo, David Manoa, Meffy Kolomatangi, Viane Moala, Sam Akoteu, Zeno Choi, Teva Eldridge, redshirts Max Hendrie and Cole Carter, along with the newcomers in Fall camp. There seems to be a lot more depth and talent, not to mention having a year to get bigger, stronger, and faster. Viane Moala at 6’7 300 lbs seems like an up-n-coming player with his size, athletic ability, and big play potential (2 blocked kicks in 2016 as a true freshman).

I felt like yelling: “Don’t transfer!” at the end of the game. I was sitting at the loge under the UH dugout. I had a clear line of the players emerging from the dugout for the post-game ceremonies.

Demeter, Fogel, Pouelsen, DiMiero, Vchulek, Rees, Uskali, Thomas, Rios, Sniffin.

Any of these names make you cringe?

I can’t believe this team is only five games above .500.

If Dylan Thomas and Casey Ryan had their heads on straight from the outset, I think we would be talking “bubble team”. Even though the Big West was slightly down this year. I believe they are eight in the conference power rankings. Usually they’re ahead of the Big Ten.

Draft predictions: Rojas(25th round), Fitchett(40th round), Ryan(last round), Hornung(free agent).

Russell Yamanoha once told the funniest story on the radio about playing video games while all of his college roommates were…….

Hopefully some Wahine Vball televised before the UMASS road game

    Guud morning Tsaikos…Bootiful Day!
Mahalo to our fallen who gave me an awesome country! Rest easy…
Puzzled by the record of our BaseBows. They got some great talent but somehow just
wasn’t able to put it all together at the same time. Last game showed the great potential. Anyhoo, get ready for next year.

If KT can get back in good graces…think post season?

Humility, being earnest and taking a real affirmative gesture on your own behalf, count a long way in life; whether that be getting reinstated or pursuing your dreams. KT, if you happen to be listening, don’t totally defer to your attorneys (I certainly wouldn’t listed to myself), if your desire is to be here, speak from your heart and let your actions confirm those beliefs, more times than not, that’s the most powerful thing you can do for yourself…..

I wonder how long it’s been oceanic? Had to be at least 30 years.
