Recapping Thursday, VB special out Friday

One thing that has changed with Ah Mow-Santos are practice times. No more early ones before class. As good as the early ones were when getting people up and starting their class days, you often had players leaving 30 minutes early in order to get to class.

Practices start later in the afternoon. Last night’s ran 4 to 7ish. Ah Mow-Santos said early on that she was going to utilize all 3 hours and they do.

She said she wasn’t ready to officially announce a lineup. She knows pretty much who she wants to start but don’t be surprised if things change between Sets 1 and 2. or even during the set. She is curious how the freshmen will react to the bright lights.

The lineup that was the last one on the court last night had Iosia, Kahakai. Ross was left back, Maglio was right, Howling and Castillo were middles, Granato OH. The one concern is Ross being undersized in front row but they like her passing. Could see a sub when she moves to the front.

Biggest change I see is how much this group talks. AM-S is very big on that and have seen a big change in Maglio for one, particularly on serve-receive.

Marquette should be the right kind of opener for this group. The Golden Eagles are rebuilding and pretty young.

In Friday’s paper, our latest tab comes out. We had fun with it. hopefully it doesn’t come off too corny. But appreciate the cooperation of all the players and coaches. And to Shoji for letting us borrow his shoes.

Friday should be interesting. Looking forward to the opening of another season.

I saw give ross a shot on the OH, and if she struggles, bring someone else in. I really like this lineup. Yeah middles seem pretty raw, but as long as they can average 1.5-2 kps each, I think we should be fine. Granato is a gamer, and steps it up when she needs too, maglio is maglio and Robyn will push this team to the very end

My thanks also, Cindy! You could search through all the D-1 VB teams and I would bet a beer that less than a handful, if any, can match the coverage that we enjoy. Many programs have articles that look like its being done by a Newswriting 101 class. We are blessed with quality AND quantity.

Spectrum (Oceanic) is just plain mean to pull the games from Hawaiian Telcom by changing the channel it was being shown on. Especially knowing the love the community has for UH Wahine volleyball.

Definitely a company without the Aloha spirit.

Calls to Spectrum resulted only that I needed to change to Spectrum cable for $55.00 per month.
