Idaho was down 3-1, went on a 6-0 run to go up 7-3. Gaskin hits long, it’s 11-5. TO UH

  3. ballerz September 6, 2018 7:18 pm

  4. Cindy Luis September 6, 2018 7:20 pm

Don’t be surprised if you see Burns in . Wahine having a bit of trouble with the quick arm swings of Idaho middles. Ma’afala with the ace. Wahine close to 14-11. TO Idaho.

  8. Big Island-Cal Poly volleyball fan September 6, 2018 7:32 pm

I finally got back from the Cal Poly match vs. UCLA at Mott Gym. What a win! However, they were shaky in the second set and did not communicate well. Otherwise, great match with lots of spectacular digs on both sides. Each team averaged over 18 digs per set. Got to meet the van Winden sisters, one before the match and one after. Before the match Torrey told me she felt confident they could beat the Bruins so her prediction came through. She had the most kills and Adlee the most digs. They sure were a dynamic duo. UCLA had a lot of newcomers so they were a bit out of synch. I don’t know whether Cal Poly could beat them twice in a row but I’ll be there tomorrow to watch in person.

  9. Cindy Luis September 6, 2018 7:33 pm

Ace by Ma’afala ends it 25-21. Great line shot by Granato gave them set point.

  10. Z September 6, 2018 7:35 pm

  17. warriorwahine September 6, 2018 7:50 pm

    Hawaii wins 25-22.

  36. warriorwahine September 6, 2018 9:08 pm

wahine made it difficult to be difficult to defeat the bows.

  37. H-Man September 6, 2018 9:10 pm

I’m watching the telecast with the audio – off. Much better
And the Wahine win this one – with Burns and others like Ross. Good mix/changes by coach. Good team win. Granato was outstanding I thought.

  38. warriorwahine September 6, 2018 9:11 pm

tomorrow portland would probably be scarier given how na wahine are this match and that the opponent is unbeaten.

  39. HawaiiMongoose September 6, 2018 9:12 pm

Good match for Granato. Burns made a huge difference and Gaskin showed some glimpses of what she’s capable of. I’m puzzled by Castillo’s lack of productivity, despite her height and experience she’s just not putting the ball down.

  40. blunite September 6, 2018 9:15 pm

Akiu was human tonight; fortunately, they still got the win. The middles put on a show (when the passing was on point).

  41. z September 6, 2018 9:15 pm

Another nice night for Granato. Good to see Burns having a good night too. Good win.

  42. Cindy Luis September 6, 2018 10:02 pm

    44. Akiu had 22 digs. got aced twice in 27 receptions and when passing 70 percent of the court.

  43. Rabbit ears September 6, 2018 10:17 pm

Akiu is really good. Great range, digis that are perfect passes. Couple times she missed balls that should could have been dug by teammates. But being a court hog is not a bad thing for a Libero.

I am late to the discussion so please forgive me if this has been discussed. Does anyone know why UH called T0 so EARLY in the game and they were winning?

Cindy, I appreciate your tenacity and dedication for giving the Wahine so much support and sharing the best with us.

  46. Crazy4WVB September 6, 2018 11:44 pm

Does anyone know if there’s a way to stream the post game interview? I have Hawaiian Telcom

  47. Savich September 7, 2018 6:17 am

So. There was other news last night. Both Hurricane Norman & Olivia coming. Just off the North of Hawai’i is Norman. 300 something miles.

  48. Savich September 7, 2018 6:30 am

Wahines win. Congrats. Maybe I’ll pick it up on reruns. Cable tv spectrum.

  50. H-Man September 7, 2018 2:39 pm

Future Wahine opponent, the Oregon Ducks, took set 1 from Minnesota 25-23. And Baylor leads Wisconsin 2-1.

  51. H-Man September 7, 2018 3:14 pm

Oregon up on #1 Minnesota 2-0 and Baylor defeats #2 Wisconsin 3-1.

  52. turfwar September 7, 2018 4:27 pm

Yup. Oregon beat #1 Minnesota in 4 but the sad part is junior Taylor Borup the 6’4 OH transfer from NC never got off the bench. She would have really helped here.

As for Borup she likely would have but no use speculating.
someone asked earlier about the early timeout. Think there was confusion over whether Akiu was supposed to be in (she was as the server) and she was late on the court. rather than have a delay of game penalty they took the TO.
