Representatives from both SoFi Hawaii Bowl teams promoted Saturday’s bowl in a brief news conference at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel where Diamond Head and Waikiki Beach served as backdrop.

Louisiana Tech coach Skip Holtz expressed concern about his team’s offensive production, referring to the inconsistency to the “elephant in the room.”

After that, both teams prepared for their penultimate practice — the Warriors’ at the Ching facility, the Bulldogs’ at Aloha Stadium.

Former UH quarterback Bryant Moniz and his 1-year-old son visited practice.

I hope Ito-San gets at least 1 carry to end his career. Such a positive guy that is well loved by all his teammates.

Please don’t have green pants for this bowl, Warriors. Stick to the black pants.

Does Genta have to enter the game for at least one play to be recognized as an official Warrior football player? As far as I can recall, Genta hasn’t played a down.

At Louisiana Tech, 2007, could that be Colt Brennan’s finest moment as a Warrior? I remember watching that game in something akin to the fetal position. If Hawaii played a better schedule, I think that is the game you could point to as Brennan being deserving of the Heisman.

    So sad.

He got injured at the wrong time. He definitely would have seen the field with the wildly inconsistent Jason Campbell as the starter Didn’t John Madden say complimentary things about Brennan during the pre-season. Jim Zorn had to hang on for one more year. But Campbell sometimes sucked so bad, he got fired.

    This still bothers me.

Just one pass. Get his name in the books.

He meant so much to the program.

    Great Morning All!

    Short and Sweet.

Wasn’t in attendance personally but btt I got back, the banquet was over and done.

Feed ’em and get ’em gone!

I guess it’s all ’bout bid-ness for these coaches.

Saw the Bulldogs returning from their Wet n Wild adventure in the afternoon, Herded straight to their rooms to prep for the banquet. No messin’ around.

Hoping this all translates to good CFB on Saturday!

    Good Morning, Mr. Akamai Okole.

That esoteric word and its pidgin counterpart in full display.

I would have liked to ask Skip Holtz a few questions.

And then the hotel staff would have to step in and escort him away.

No real point in banning someone. They’re just going to come back with a different name and a different email. Just gotta learn to ignore his posts.

Yes I do the same thing. I hit the down button and don’t read his commentary to waste my time. He has probably changed his id numerous times.

I hope Fiso can rugby punt. He seems to have some Scott Harding versatility. Would be nice to throw in some disruption. With the addition of Cortez Davis’ speed combined with one of the best coverers in the nation in Okeke, coverage unit could give UH a big advantage over any team. If the entire Special Teams can become proficient next season then UH can become a top 15 team for sure. Just got to work on Meskell’s distance. All the pieces are there to not only be proficient, but “spectacular”. Imagine the possibilities now with the more “seasoned” guys returning combined with Davis, Phillips and Stovall. Unreal. Got to try to be the best in the nation, That’s the target, no less than that. Important. Can do. Awesome now. Unbelievable actually.

As the blog archivist, I will point out that there were many times we were “off-topic”. Especially in the crucial 2007 year of the blog, when all the off-topic stuff and chatting created a national community centered on UH football.

But our off-topic was informative, interesting, educational and crazy funny. But gone are the days when I had to clean off the coffee I sprayed on my computer monitor when I suddenly broke out laughing while reading the blog. The core of 150+ Tsai-kos in 2007 are still reading today, although mostly silent now. They often meet at the main Tsai-ko tailgate at the Rainbow Marina (SEE #11 Sailorblue’s post above).

Although the target of the “off topic” stuff today is far from funny or amusing, it is what it is. If you are curious of how the blog evolved when ST had orders to shut it down, check out the full moon at: http://stevem.altervista.org/cartoon.html

The blog will survive. I just wish it would make me clean my tablet/computer screen more often.

  21. A-House December 21, 2018 1:22 pm

is Scott McLeod, WR, still committed to UH? will sign in 2/2019?

    or, gone foreva!

  22. suckkabooya December 21, 2018 2:07 pm

The humor now is mostly in response to two certain individuals (particularly CG). But sometimes it gets real lol funny. I think you have to know the individuals to find stuff exceptionally humorous. I don’t recall it being that, that funny as SteveM claims. But he would know. Lots of posters with good sense of humor here in 2018 version. Can get “funny” here if you need it to be. Things may mirror 2007 (as far as on field success) next season so the posts may fill up the board once again. Just don’t let the one fool discourage your voice. Everybody post if you have time.

IF WE’RE IN A SITUATION WHERE IT’S 1ST & GOAL … LET GENTA ITO CARRY THE
BALL OR PASS IT TO HIM … IF IT’S 4TH & GOAL GO FOR IT WITH GENTA … I’D
LOVE TO SEE HIM SCORE A TD …

  29. SteveM December 21, 2018 6:46 pm

    Hiya tommui!

Here’s an example of a 2007 blogger who showed up for the second Cattle Call in April 2007. He stopped by to look us over, saying “Da Punchbowl Kid did not look like a kid and bulla did not look like a bulla”. 🙂

tommui posts infrequently nowadays but is an example of the Tsai-kos that still lurk after 11+ years. Of course, he is in the Tsai-ko Hall of Fame. http://stevem.altervista.org/hallofame.html

Louisiana Tech lost their last game at HOME against cellar-dweller Western Kentucky. The unexpected loss meant, perhaps, that they squandered a chance to play a “superior” opponent in Utah State. They came out flat against the Hilltoppers after losing late in the fourth quarter against Southern Miss. Statistics-wise nothing really jumps out at you, except that they have a 1,000 yard receiver. One of their wins came against the FCS.

I don’t know. I guess I would feel more confident about the game had San Diego State not gotten blanked by a MAC team. I’m just happy that Hawaii is in a bowl game. It is sort of irrelevant to me if they win or lose.

I would like to see Cole McDonald establish himself as the starting quarterback going into next season.

. . . I’m just happy that Hawaii is in a bowl game. It is sort of irrelevant to me if they win or lose.

We should NEVER think this way. Not only was a Grease slightly disappointed with “old WAC opponent” scheduled for today’s Hawaii Bowl, but that it’s all, “well. WHAT competition? Hawaii can’t lose to La.Tech even if they tried.”

The factor in this seems to be “son of Lou Holtz.”

Wish Marshall was thunderig down here instead.

    Chicken Grease! 🙄
