Oklahoma falls in poll after loss to Iowa State

Here’s how I voted in this week’s Associated Press college football poll, with some additional information about who these teams have beaten and who they play this week. I really wanted to vote for Iowa State somewhere in the poll since the Cyclones knocked off Oklahoma. But how do you do that when Oklahoma beat Ohio State, which is getting into full gear now? Three voters — Kellis Robinett, Chris Murray and Gary Horowitz — did vote for ISU, 23rd and 25th. If Iowa State continues to win, I will definitely rank them considering their losses, 44-41 to rival Iowa in overtime, and 17-7 to Texas, aren’t horrible defeats. The Cyclones could very well be one of the best 25 teams in the country; it’s too hard to tell right now. But one thing that can’t be taken away is that they’ve pulled off the biggest upset of the season so far. Gotta love the fact they beat Oklahoma with a backup quarterback, Kyle Kempt. Also enjoyed watching Joel Lanning make big plays at linebacker and also taking snaps at quarterback.

According to cbssports.com, Hawaii is ranked #25 worst football team this week after the loss to Nevada (#17). The San Jose State football team is ranked #7. The game this week is dubbed “The Bottom 25 Game of the Century of the Week.” As a fan of the Rainbow Warriors I am disappointed that the team has the national distinction of being one of the worst team in the nation. On the other hand, UCF, SDSU (with local boys), and USF are on a roll.
The “powers that be” must invest in our “State’s Team”. Inviting and upgraded facilities are essential to the athlete and fans. The game day atmosphere is important to the fans as well. If the State (or University) builds it, success will come.
