Never good timing for your best player to be out indefinitely.

Nice to see the football boys at the game.

Dillon Gabriel as offers from USC, Georgia and UCF. He ran a hybrid offense at Mililani, run n shoot with the RPO
He will be announcing his decision on Wednes.

  5. cappie the dog December 16, 2018 8:29 pm

    Damn.

I knew something was up when Stansberry started the second half against UH-Hilo.

Drammeh is, what one ESPN analyst said, “…super-athletic,” but you can’t utilize that athleticness if you’re trying to knock down threes. This observation was made on day three against Fresno State.

And when you’re at the Stan Sheriff Center, you can see with your own eyes that he is normally the fastest player on the court. If Drammeh wanted to, I think he could get to the line about 10-12 times.

You have three legitimate three-point shooters: Purchase, Stansberry, and Stepteau.

And there is nothing wrong with the mid-range jumper. When Purchase was slumping last season, he had a lot of success knocking down deuces from 15-18 feet.

C’mon, Sheriff Drammeh, you’re good. Know what you’re good at.

Someone said Sheriff had a wrist injury, so did not play in the 2nd half vs Hilo.

    Morning Tsaikos!
ST, you forgot Kai Kaneshiro in you article about Mose.

  11. A-House December 17, 2018 7:59 am

hope DC and DB coaches will allow ALL players to compete for positions — seems like some were way out of step on coverages

for sure, speed is necessary, but a slower player can make tremendous contributions by using his instincts to defend the run or pass — person can cheat with the intent to run one-way, but act like he will do something else

  12. Boolakanaka December 17, 2018 8:13 am

I saw film ( one of my boys still coaches college ball)on the two Waipahu boys , the safety and corner, both were men among boys in league play this year. Man, a 6’2, 200 plus corner in high school ball-and these kids could flat out stick. Not since, Andrew (my drinking partner at Moose’s) and Michael Moody and Ben Apuna have I seen such an abundance of talent from the marauders- -they prob have to play down in the box in College- but those two totally dominated this year.

  13. Boolakanaka December 17, 2018 8:23 am

    Ehhh/ why I stay getting moderated ???

  14. A-House December 17, 2018 9:34 am

we grumble a lot about Aloha Stadium, but one thing it got over all the “big name” school stadium we visited is THEATER SEATS!!!

from Udub to Oregon St to Florida to Colorado to Army to Navy to UMass to Rose Bowl to Reno to Boyd Stadium — all bench seats

Washington St and SDSU — games were played at pro-football stadiums with theater seats

it seems that the security staff at Aloha Stadium now are more customer friendly the past 2 years — before, it appeared to me that they acted like TSA employees

    looking forward to Saturday!!!

Some great news on the recruiting front!….Making it a good Holiday Season and waiting for more to come!

  16. Boolakanaka December 17, 2018 9:41 am

Talked to one of my bests boys recently, the ever debonair, Kurt Kafentzis….his son should he a hot prospect for UH at safety. I counted 6 picks and many passes defended on his highlight real, see: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/2619233/5a03b4652ab0450ad00593ae

Like every Kafentzis that has played for UH, but especially the original brothers—they love to hit, have really strong hand skills and are athletic. Kurt was leading the nation with 5 pics in only 7 game before he ended his senior season. Rolo and staff, give Tristan a holler!

Speaking of fantastic DBs, duo from Waipahu, the safety and corner all state pair were super impressive. One kid is 6’2 and 200 plus pounds, and played cornerback, that’s a NFL frame. Saw film of them and those two were men among boys in league play. Not since, Andrew and Michael Moody, and Ben Apuna have I seen a Waipahu team with so much talent. They both will probably have to play in the box in college, but those guys were super intimidating in high school …

Hawaii Bowl has opened seats in the orange and blue sections of the North End zone — $20/ticket

this was effective 12/7/2018 — I did not see any announcement — did I miss it???

  18. A-House December 17, 2018 10:12 am

    Boola:

perhaps father can talk to son about his experiences playing for UH — a generation ago, us old folks still remember the Kafentzis 5

    Howzit Tsaikos!

    Happy Holidays!

Congrats to all the graduates! Best wishes as you go forth in your post-college life.

Congrats to Joyce Lau. She will still be around. She has volunteered to be a co-chair of the MVB Booster Club fundraising committee, along with Mike China. Believe they are seeking donations for the silent auction at the annual Ao A Koa scholarship dinner in January.

    GO WARRIORS!

  20. Boolakanaka December 17, 2018 10:51 am

Hey idiot shut up already. We try to exhibit some patience because you got dropped on your head or ate tainted baby food, but don’t test our limits.

Kurt and his twin Kent is my age you moron, his brother Mark played in 79.

  21. Old School Dave December 17, 2018 10:52 am

Sometimes money isn’t everything and heading your own program is more important. Utah’s OC (currently earning $525,000) has taken the head coaching job at FCS Sacramento State (where he’s originally from) for a pay cut of more than half of what he was earning at Utah. Sac State isn’t even one of the better funded programs in the Big Sky.

  22. Old School Dave December 17, 2018 10:58 am

Too bad they gave up football at the JUCOs/CCs in the Pacific NW. Knew many local guys who played at schools such as Wenatchee, Treasure Valley, Mt. Hood, Yakima, Spokane Falls, Walla Walla, Columbia Basin (UH had a number of transfers from there), among others back in the day. A number of them continued on to play and earn their degrees at 4-year schools.

  23. OC Warrior December 17, 2018 11:01 am

Boola – would LOVE to have another Kafentzis in the defensive backfield! Loved when Mark and Lyndell Jones (salt n pepper) joined UH and then started the Kafentzis pipeline. Had a chance to meet and talk with Kurt at one of the UH/USC games, super cool, down to earth dude!

Didn’t Kurt start out as a wideout and then switch to safety? I remember a huge hit he made on the road that separated receiver from helmet. Trademark Kafentzis hard hit!

  26. Maddog50 December 17, 2018 12:37 pm

Never argue with someone who is stupid. You sink to their level and then beat you with experience-

  27. A-House December 17, 2018 12:44 pm

although highly improvable, wouldn’t it be something if Mose, Coderio & Company can get other St Louis seniors to “flip” to UH

Mose going up against 2 all-state DL in every practice must be a heck of an experience — especially that Tuitele at DT

any ‘stats’ on young Kafentzis? looks good size in the video — liked the one where he and WR went opposite directions, Kafentzis to the right, WR left, Kafentzis saw the ball, did a 180, caught up with the WR and swatted the ball away — that’s athleticism

There is a core group on this blog.

Over time, I have learned to watch what I write.

A blog is like a house.

I try to mind my manners.

I take the slippers off before I enter.

    Sometimes I make mistakes.

    And I apologize.

    cappie the dog –

I for one am very fond of you.

I’ve also more mistakes on the blog than I care to remember.

I pray the gods of blogs and dogs will allow us to meet someday.

Fogel, Adam. #18, OF UH. I saw his move in the outfield. Stop a ground ball. Right knee touching the ground. Ball picked up with left hand glove. Then the throw in. He is 6-5.

  33. A-House December 18, 2018 6:55 am

if Gabriel did not want to wait his opportunity to start for Hawaii — how long of a wait will he experience at USC???

  38. Derek December 18, 2018 11:33 am

Disappointed that there isn’t more news on the recruiting front last night or today so far. Tomorrow is the early signing date. How many signings do Rolo expect during this period. We need speed, explosiveness, and playmakers, and ballhawks. Any surprised? And
disappointments? Get chance with Vimahi? 4 star rated, but only 2nd team all-state this year. Is his stock dropping?

  39. A-House December 18, 2018 12:12 pm

    Maddog50:

hope your 2 Waipahu DB are D1 qualifiers so UH can pursue

top 2 DT committed to Washington — believe Udub has a strong Hawaii community and on-campus club making it easier for athletes to acclimate — cold, rainy, cloudy Seattle!

many other 1st team honorees are not committed to any D1 program — we’ll see what happiness brings on 12/20/2018

  40. ai-eee-soos December 18, 2018 1:04 pm

might be old news – from MWC news.

WR James Phillips was offered by Hawaii

JUCO LB Quinn Perry was offered by Hawaii

    78, 80, 81.

yah, and Maui Boy Chad Kahaahaa trying to horn in, for USC.

he probably was the one who made a late, hard push for our St Louis OL.

and someone reported that a local QB committed to USC. not confirmed.

I finally found a music website that doesn’t require you register with Facebook.

    It’s called Stereogum.

If they don’t like what you write, you get something called a downvote.

These millenials will eat you alive if you go off-topic.

  45. Na Alii Pride December 18, 2018 6:33 pm

Rolo said on Call the Coach that he expects to sign 12-14 in the early period
