The Hawaii basketball team hopes to parlay last preseason’s successful season tip-off fundraiser, a debut for its kind, into an annual shindig.

UH announced the 2017 follow-up for Wednesday, Oct. 25 at the Stan Sheriff Center, starting at 5:30 p.m. with drinks and a silent auction followed by dinner. Individual tickets are $125 while full tables may be purchased for $1,500.

Last year’s event featured a stylish setup on the floor of the arena, and a stage for players and coaches to introduce themselves for the season to come. That’s also where UH coach Eran Ganot unveiled plans for the overhaul of Gym 2.

“We’re really excited about this season’s Tipoff Event,” Ganot said in a UH release. “Especially after such an enjoyable evening last year. We had nearly 450 folks come out for our first event and we’re hoping for an even better turnout this time around. The support we receive here in Hawaii is second to none. I’m sure it’ll be another memorable night for everyone in attendance.”

UH will be about a full month into preseason practices by then, and just a week out from its Nov. 1 exhibition against Hawaii Pacific. The regular season begins Nov. 10 vs. Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

Good for you. $1,500 dollars per ticket. But like I said earlier, this job is beneath me or my feet. Aloha Stadium though. Good luck to the team.

Also, very good. Willing to buy a $35 dollar long sleeve white T shirt with a UH logo on it. Fair price.
