Estes on Lombardi Award watch list

2010 vision

According to someone in the know, the top prospects for 2010 are Punahou defensive lineman Sani Fuimaono, Leilehua quarterback Andrew Manley and Kahuku defensive end Kona Schwenke. Fuimaono, who also competes in judo, is the 2009 state wrestling champion in the 285-pound division. Manley, who toured UH on his own last summer, has drawn interest from UCLA. Australian punter to join Warriors

Alex Dunnachie, a punter from Australia, said he has accepted a football scholarship from the Warriors. Dunnachie, who is 6 feet 2 and 220 pouinds, is one of the top punters at the Ray Guy Academy for punters, kickers and long-snappers. Dunnachie said he “consistently hit it 65, 70 yards.” Rick Sang, co-founder of the Ray Guy Academy, said Dunnachie has had several punts with hang times in excess of 5 seconds. “He has natural power,” Sang said. “He looks […]

The Warriors received their Hawai‘i Bowl rings during this morning’s team meeting. Coach Mack designed them.  Coach Mack said next time the goal won’t be to earn a bowl berth but to win the bowl game. Maui scrimmage is April 11

From Derek Inouchi: The University of Hawai‘i Athletics Department has announced plans for a football scrimmage on Maui and details for next month’s “Warrior Bowl,” which culminates spring practice. On Saturday, April 11, the Warriors will fly to Maui to hold an intrasquad scrimmage at the War Memorial Stadium beginning at 11:00 a.m. (tentative), followed by an autograph session on the field. John Estes fostered a hoops dream when he assembled his Super Games team. It became a reality today when his Team Purps, led by four-time All-State guard Miah Ostrowski and Dustin “The Human Blur” Blount, clobbered Sex Appeal in the basketball championship game in Klum Gym. UH seeks spring scrimmage on Maui

 The Warriors are exploring the possibility of staging a football scrimmage and autograph session at Maui’s War Memorial Stadium in April, athletic director Jim Donovan said. The event would be part of the Warriors’ spring practice. They still would play the Green-White game at Aloha Stadium. “We’re hopeful it’ll all come together,” said Donovan, adding the event is still  in the proposal stage. Mouton meets with Steelers, Patriots

 At the official combine evaluations, Mouton was measured at 5 feet 9. His weight was 187. He also bench pressed 225 pounds 18 times. Mouton said he had a one-on-one interview with Pittsburgh Steeler head coach Mike Tomlin, and an individual interview with the New England Patriots. He has met with every NFL team.
