Thanksgiving in El Paso

By Stephen Tsai on November 25, 2010

EL PASO — Brrrr. It’s cold in here. Must be some Warriors in the atmosphere …  They tell us that the wind-chill was about 35 degrees at practice. Well, at least that was assistant coach Cal Lee’s estimate. It was difficult to hear him because his head was wrapped in a towel.  The players said today’s 90-minute practice rivaled the Utah State game in terms of difficult conditions. At least it didn’t rain.  But the Warriors were able to finalize […]

The segments were shot live at UH’s practice this morning, with the feed going to the tower at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, where it was beamed to a satellite.  Here are Dunnachie, producer Chezzi Denyer and host Grant Denyer: • Michael Sellers, a grayshirt who goes on scholarship in January, is reportedly […]

Day after

By Stephen Tsai on November 21, 2010

According to his father, former UH quarterback Colt Brennan remains “heavily sedated while recovering from injuries suffered in a two-car accident Friday, and is “far from being alert. There’s no real conversation with him other than he acknowledges we’re here (with hand gestures). He hasn’t been able to speak. He’ll moan and groan, and maybe point to his neck brace. It’s uncomfortable. They have tubes and  IVs.” Brennan, who has been treated for a punctured lung, was removed from a […]

Game day: San Jose State; Ingram signs with Saints

By Stephen Tsai on November 20, 2010

Former UH long-snapper Jake Ingram, who was released by the New England Patriots a couple of weeks ago, today signed with the New Orleans Saints, a UH coach said today * * * * *  The Spartans have played better offensively in recent game, but they’re young (18 freshmen are in the rotation), banged up (best running back, tight end and safety are done for the season), and coming off a game in which they relinquished 520 yards and allowed […]

By Stephen Tsai on November 19, 2010

Former UH quarterback Colt Brennan is in serious condition with a facial injury following a two-car accident on the Big Island this morning. Brennan was hospitalized in Kona, where he underwent tests for internal bleeding, and was set to be transported to The Queen’s Medical Center this afternoon. Brennan was a passenger in the head-on crash. * * * * * It happens all of the time. A football team struggles offensively for most of the game. Then it goes […]

By Stephen Tsai on November 18, 2010

An agreement in principle has been reached for the football Warriors to join the Mountain West starting in July 2012. Details still need to be worked out, but no snags are expected.  It also appears things are in motion for UH’s non-football sports to join the Big West. There’s a screening process, which might take some time, but the path has been set for UH to join.  * * * * * Defensive end Calen Friel, a 2010 Kailua High […]
