Cindy Luis covers University of Hawaii volleyball for the Star-Advertiser. She began her career as a sports journalist in Hawaii in 1981 with the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and was the sports editor, assistant sports editor, columnist and beat writer during a 31-year span before the paper became the Star-Advertiser. She graduated from UCLA in 1977 with a B.A. in Communication Studies.

Wahine schedule and its problems, conflicts

We knew back in March there was going to be some problems with this schedule,  due to football schedule. But for the first time UH is going to have football and Wahine volleyball on the same Saturday. And they’ll do it twice. To follow up from posts on another thread: Hawaii is again the lone wolf in the Big West, meaning when coming out to UH in a certain week, that is the only match of the week for that team unless they choose to play another match (nonconference) that week. USAV Cup has U.S. vs. Brazil at Sheriff Center

 No. 1 Brazil and No. 2 U.S., the top two women’s volleyball teams in the world ,will play for the 2nd USA Volleyball Cup, a four-match challenge, July 5-12 The Stan Sheriff Center will host two matches, July 11-12. Hawaii commit Gianna Guinasso, is a senior from Huntington Beach, Calif. As one of the top sand players in Southern California, Guinasso certainly has the accolades to back it up.
