Team continues to work on skills and technique, breaking into small groups by position. At one point, one court had Higgins working with the OHs, two reps each, hitting line and quickly resetting to hit cross court. Other court had Koelsch working with the middles on quicks and slides. Sad news this morning. Alan was the Wahine’s first coach in 74. We got word during practice this morning. He died in Detroit Aug. 4, had been living with his son, Dr. Barry, for a few months because of health issues. Services 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, St. Alban’s Chapel, ‘Iolani.

Shoji was pleased with the first practice although he said, “We didn’t do much.’ Except for skills. They went about 30 minutes longer than scheduled. Second practice 5-730 p.m. More skills and small groups. Was a little surprised they went to a mini scrimmage so early in the 2-a-days. Played a game called B-O-W-S, basically first team to 4 wins. During tonight’s second practice chatted with Nikki Taylor while she was getting electric stimulus on her elbow She said that since no muscles or ligaments were torn no need for surgery Said it was really hard to be out and have to watch Thinks there is a lot of raw talent. she’s excited for the season.
