Uiato, Manu-Olevao make A2 roster

Congrats to Mita Uiato and Tai Manu-Olevao

Announced this morning by USAV

USA Volleyball has announced its 48-player roster for the U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Senior A2 Program that will train and compete this summer in Dallas.

The U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Senior A2 program is available to athletes with collegiate eligibility remaining for the 2013 season. This program is scheduled to take place in Dallas from June 25 to July 4 in conjunction with the USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships.

The program roster has athlete representation from 29 different universities with 12 schools having multiple selections.

During the six-day training period from June 25-30, the 48 athletes will be divided into four equal teams that will compete in pool play against the other A2 program teams and the top four Premier Volleyball League (PVL) teams. After pool play, the four A2 program teams and PVL teams will split into their own divisions to determine the medalist teams in the competition.

Congrats to Mita and Tai … surprised that Longo was not selected.

Tai is a rising star, a bright spot on the horizon.

    1. Libero is a hard position to compete for. Ali is good but there are a lot of other good liberos around the country

    USAV Nationals should be fun:
    May 24th – 28th
    Louisville, KY

    PVL..

#1, Hoosier Region (The Exterminators, legit “professionals”)
#2, Team Florida Wave (w/ Ku’ulei Kabalis as their starting libero)
#3, Team Iowa Ice (Iowa State Alumnae)
#4, North Texas Region (hey, it’s Texas)

I think this deserved recognition for two fine young women who have many skills and outstanding character, too. I hope this will just be the first step on the way to the top echelon in volleyball competition both with Hawaii and with Team USA hopefully, too. Go Wahine!

Don’t forget the Junior National Team has selected 18 players to be whittled down to 12. This is where you will find Hartong and Longo, possibly Vorster if they were selected. It’s a big step up from A2. High performance was announed today with several little ladies selected for Oklahoma. For some, high performance is a way to make money for USA VB. But to the participants, it gives a pipeline to elite coaching and training.

Not 100% what the restrictions are, but I’m pretty sure Hartong and Longo are too old to make JNT. Not sure how old Vorster is. The Stanford freshman that tried out for A2 will probably make it (Burgess, Ajanaku) – usually the JNT team is a younger group

8 WUJ, the JNT is for players born in 1994 or later.
it’s basically U21 and believe that only Vorster would be eligible.
Hartong from what I’ve been told is sitting out the summer to rehab
