Congrats to Rado Parapunov, Player of the Week, and Guilherme Voss , Freshman of Week, in the Big West. Think I would have nominated Brett Sheward for FOW.

Defensive POW to UCI’s Scott Stadick for his performance in the Outrigger.

Hawaii (12-0) remained at No. 1 in today’s AVCA Top 15 poll, receiving 11 first-place votes.

For a second week in a row, BYU (12-0) picked up the remaining five votes in staying at No. 2.

UC Santa Barbara (8-2) stayed at No. 3 while Long Beach State (7-1) and UC Irvine (7-4) traded places at 4-5.

UC San Diego moved back into the poll at No. 15. Concordia Irvine, No. 14 last week, dropped out.

Cindy, our area of the arena was talking during the introduction of the player’s parents. We heard Mr. Worseley’s name and wahine volleyball. Do you recall what they were talking about?

    Hi shar,

My name is not Cindy (lol), but maybe I can help. Mr. Worsley was once a technical advisor for Dave Shoji. I believe the announcer said, “a former member of the Rainbow Wahine staff.”

Thanks UH Voice. It makes sense. Thanks for the clarity.

whats up with the PA system at the arena, all weekend i was asking…”what did he say”

#4 Sue – We agree with you. Couldn’t understand one word what the PA announcer
was saying: sometimes they “shout” into the mike; other times, the mike is too close. I’m not
sure if they “test” the PA system. It can be annoying as too much distractions: band “playing
    over”, etc.
Hope they do a better job before we face BYU!

Don’t know what’s up with the speaker system at the arena. It’s sad and frustrating that we can’t understand what the announcer is saying.

Certain speakers are not working properly so if you sit in a certain area of the arena everything is garbled. On my side it sounds clear enough. But i noticed that when sitting on the end area of the court did not sound clear.

can’t tell you what was up with the speaker system. Agree that sometimes it is hard to understand but it also depends on who is speaking. I rarely have a hard time when it’s Billy V.
    2. thanks for getting to that first.
    1. Roger Worsley was formerly a technical adviser on Dave Shoji’s staff. Both Joe and Gage have mentioned their early memories of being in the arena back then. Roger was here last week. Believe the parents are alternating coming out this season.
Both parents and dog will be up at Stanford this week.
