Hawaii women’s volleyball: Teee Williams, Charlie Brande among Southern California Indoor Hall of Fame inductees

Teee Williams-Slacanin, the AVCA Player of the Year in 1987 and (co) 89, as well as Dave Shoji’s former assistant Charlie Brande are among the 15 who will be inducted into the Southern California Indoor Volleyball Hall of Fame in May.
Williams was a three-time All-American (likely would have been four if the NCAA didn’t have that ridiculous prop 48 in place that cost her a year). She helped Hawaii to the 1987 NCAA title and 1988 runner-up finish. She also went on to play in two Olympics.
Brande is being inducted in the Lifetime Service category. After coaching the Rainbow Wahine he went on to coach at UC Irvine and was a successful club coach in Orange County.
Ceremony is Sunday, May 3, in Anaheim. I went last year. It was a lot of fun with the Who’s Who of the sport.
Others inducted will be Terry Condon, Ernie His, Troy Tanner, Dixie Grimmett, Alan KNipe, Manny Saenz, Jane Ward, Jack Benn, Duncan McFarland and Gary Sato. Also in the lifetime service category is Sue Gozansky.

Tee Williams was an Athlete, with a capital “A”.
Tee was a once in a lifetime type of impact player. So much fun to watch.
Charlie Brande has helped so many and continues to do so even here with local players. Met the man recently and you can’t find a nicer more humble person than Charlie. Great guy.

Teee was one of the main reasons I got into Wahine Volleyball in the first place. I was just a little kid, but attending the ’87 semifinal match against Pacific in Klum was like a life-altering event for me. She deserves every accolade in my book.
In a Bob Sigall column, Wade says his international players can qualify for in-state tuition. Under what rule or exemption, etc. do they qualify for this ?
The Chancellor at the UH was given authority a few years ago to assign in-state tuition rates to a certain number of foreign and out of state ” gifted students”.

my guess is if they establish residency they would qualify.
