Lets kick the Huskers outta there!!

    Wisconsin wins 25-20, 25-17, 25-23
Hawaii match around 330 CT, 11:30 a.m. HT

  3. Cindy Luis December 13, 2019 10:50 am

Interesting in the arena. A lot of Wisconsin fans have left.
A lot of the arena is general admission. In front of me Nebraska fans have replaced the Wisconsin ones.
Impressed by the diehard Wisconsin fans. They started lineup up in the sub-freezing cold at 8:20 a.m. Gates opened at noon.

  4. Harvey December 13, 2019 11:32 am

I’m on the ESPN app. I’m ready to go already (4:30 p.m. Eastern). Stream just started.

    Go Wahine!!

  5. Andrew December 13, 2019 11:43 am

I’m liking the intensity so far

  6. Harvey December 13, 2019 11:52 am

Wahine not intimidated. Playing their game so far. If anything, Hawaii’s middles have room to step up.

  7. Beauston December 13, 2019 11:58 am

Is the stream going in and out for everyone else?

  8. Astroboy December 13, 2019 11:59 am

Yes, I’m getting that too. It’s stuttering every set or so.

  9. greenthumb December 13, 2019 11:59 am

7 yes, fuzzes out then stalls.

  10. Harvey December 13, 2019 12:01 pm

    ESPN stream sucks.

  11. Andrew December 13, 2019 12:04 pm

    7.

Yes, I decided to listen to Tiff on the radio and watch the stream. although radio is a couple plays ahead

  12. Marcie December 13, 2019 12:05 pm

Annoying….ESPN3 coverage is not good…keeps going out

  13. Chicken Grease December 13, 2019 12:10 pm

    LEAVE.

    RASMUSSEN.

    IN!!!!!

  14. Chicken Grease December 13, 2019 12:12 pm

    Can hear Tiff coughing.

Spectrum connection is perfect for ESPN3.

  15. H-Man December 13, 2019 12:14 pm

It’s interesting that the LiveStats posts of the play/score is way ahead of what you see it on “live” ESPN. It’s a fairly long delay.

  16. Andrew December 13, 2019 12:19 pm

team seems to have lost their intensity from set 1.

  17. Maverick December 13, 2019 12:20 pm

Deflated? I hope not, UH played very well in set 1. Just a couple of errors at the wrong time. If they can keep up their confidence, they will make a match of it.

  18. Chicken Grease December 13, 2019 12:22 pm

This is how game looks on 65” screen:

Nice, the team energy is starting to get back up.

  20. Kauaiboy December 13, 2019 12:27 pm

Please keep fighting ladies… don’t roll over!!!

  21. Cindy Luis December 13, 2019 12:27 pm

Think ESPN3 hasn’t kept up with the demand. Hawaii fans crashed the site in 2015. They never learn.

  22. Chicken Grease December 13, 2019 12:28 pm

Is there a way to communicate with Coach Ah Mow on the court? Can she read our messages here?

Gotta rotate Ross out at times. Not effective at normal points in this Sw. 16!

  23. Andrew December 13, 2019 12:33 pm

It’s kinda tough. Rasmussen is such a force, but her rust is really showing.

  24. Andrew December 13, 2019 12:34 pm

You want to give her more time on the court to get her more comfortable but can’t really afford the errors/ court chemistry

????? She just returned and need the real-time reps DURING championship play, no less!

Leave her in! Coach! Make the decisions!

  26. Chicken Grease December 13, 2019 12:38 pm

Andrew, you want Wahine lose or something? When non-seniors going play next for UH if they lose this game?

Wahine can rest (or regret) tomorrow!

  27. vballfan December 13, 2019 12:42 pm

Wahine are playing well!! Don’t give up!
Is there only one team that takes a time out?

  28. Andrew December 13, 2019 12:43 pm

Those errors at the end of set 1 are proving to be huge. What coulda been a manageable 1-1 is now a 2-0. They’ve come back with the reverse sweep before but vs Nebraska is gonna be tough

  29. Maverick December 13, 2019 12:45 pm

    26. UH doing better with Rasmussen out. Stop being so dramatic.

  30. Andrew December 13, 2019 12:47 pm

Cindy, the over reach was on Amber

  31. Cindy Luis December 13, 2019 12:48 pm

    29. thank you.
    22. don’t be … of course they aren’t reading this.

  32. Andrew December 13, 2019 12:48 pm

    29.

It’s tough to watch. Wish her recovery was just a few weeks earlier. She could have greatly benefited from a few matches pre tournament to get more comfortable

  33. 808 December 13, 2019 12:49 pm

NCAA stat page has MATCH NEBRASKA after a bunch of MATCH points — should be SET NEBRASKA. Stupid NCAA.

  34. Maverick December 13, 2019 12:49 pm

We’re going to find out what this team is made of. If they roll over in Set 3, or if they fight it out. Win or lose, go out fighting.

  35. Harvey December 13, 2019 12:49 pm

One point at a time, one game at a time Bows.

  36. Cindy Luis December 13, 2019 12:50 pm

as for Rasmussen, Hawaii won a lot without her. it does change the chemistry when she is in there. She was called for a lift when she should have let Okino take the ball. As good of shape as she’s in, she is not completely in game shape and I think some of that shows.

  37. Harvey December 13, 2019 12:51 pm

    31. Cindy….LOL!

  38. greenthumb December 13, 2019 12:51 pm

Let’s go Bows. A reverse sweep is achievable. Nice words by Kiraly btw

Uh. –Wahine down two games. You watching the Tennessee game or something?

“Better”? Wonder what your definition of “great” is 🙄

  40. Harvey December 13, 2019 12:57 pm

Dont like the body language from Hawaii the first few points.

  41. Andrew December 13, 2019 12:57 pm

C’mon ladies, fight back. It’d be a shame to go out via sweep

  42. ballerz December 13, 2019 12:59 pm

    lets go bows

  43. Chicken Grease December 13, 2019 1:10 pm

36 Ms. Luis, Rasmussen is great now? WHY the coaching mismanagement? Chalk it up to Ah Mow still learning coaching?

Talking about winning now. Championship play. There’s a difference.

Man. 😟. No one listens to me.

  44. Chicken Grease December 13, 2019 1:14 pm

    * Great now! [I meant exclamation point, not question mark 🤗]

  45. Harvey December 13, 2019 1:19 pm

We need a few blocks in a row.

Play hard, one point at a time….

  46. Maverick December 13, 2019 1:22 pm

    39. You’re one of those people who uses only data that fits your thesis to justify your comments–confirmation bias up the yin-yang. Prove to me Rasmussen staying in would have led to 1-1 in sets. You can’t. You’re just trolling. And yes, NO ONE LISTENS TO YOU.

  47. Andrew December 13, 2019 1:22 pm

A match of inopportune errors. It’s a shame it ends with a sweep They played a good season though and fought back from injuries.

  48. Carlos December 13, 2019 1:22 pm

Iosia has been not playing well. Her sets aren’t great today. She had a critical service error in the first and third set.

  49. 808 December 13, 2019 1:24 pm

No answer for Lexi Sun today.

  50. Andrew December 13, 2019 1:25 pm

Now we need to find setters for next season and hope all stay healthy this time

  51. Andrew December 13, 2019 1:26 pm

    48.

yeah that service error was cringe worthy. Even the announcers questioned why the change in serve location

  52. Andrew December 13, 2019 1:27 pm

I’d argue Hawaii outplayed Nebraska in the first set , except at the very end

  53. Maverick December 13, 2019 1:27 pm

Best passing match of the season by the Wahine. Ross hit .280 with 11.5 points. Brooke at .370 with 15.5 points. Norene at .385 and 6.5 points. UH was led by its shortest three hitters. Great show of grit. The middles had a tough night, but they will be back.

  54. H-Man December 13, 2019 1:35 pm

Congrats to Cornhuskers, they played a good match. Wahine didn’t have their best today. That”s OK, they gave us a great season.

  55. Maverick December 13, 2019 1:38 pm

Texas is being Texas again. Louisville wins 3-2. The guy can recruit, he just can’t coach.

  56. T103 December 13, 2019 1:39 pm

Shucks, junk loss but good season over-all. 1st set we looked good. 2nd and 3rd it was weird to fall behind and then be right there and then fall a little behind and catch up again.. Its like we were totally almost there. In the end couldn’t do it. Proud of them though, I don’t think that was our best match we played. Our passing broke down and we couldn’t really establish middles but then again Nebraska did shut our middle options down. Proud of how far we made it, bummed we didn’t get further but I mean, we were pitted against #5. Just gottah get a setter, next year we will be back and still be loaded, looking forward to next year! Side note Texas just lost

  57. H-Man December 13, 2019 1:39 pm

Lexi Sun had a great match, but it was Sweet, I thought, that gave the Cornhuskers huge lift.

  58. 808 December 13, 2019 1:40 pm

Agree, middles had a tough match. They took our middles completely out of it offensively. But they’re young and they’ll be back, and hopefully, better.

  59. Maverick December 13, 2019 1:45 pm

    52. Agree that UH outplayed Nebraska in set 1, except for the last few points. 22 kills in the first set was a season high for UH. Na Wahine looked very much like at top 10 team that set.

  60. Big Island Volleyball Fan December 13, 2019 1:47 pm

Friday the 13th proved to be bad luck for the Rainbow Wahines. They lost their magic. If only Norene Iosia aced that last first set point instead of missing the serve… She must feel so bad about it. She also missed her last serve in the last set. What a sad way to go out.

Friday the 13th was even worse luck for Texas having lost in a reverse sweep. Now two teams really bummed out. Not a good day.

  61. Andrew December 13, 2019 1:52 pm

    60.

She didn’t need to ace that first set point, just get it in. Wahine were playing well enough where they coulda pulled it out right there had it gone in.

  62. Lori December 13, 2019 1:55 pm

Every year we get our hearts broken by the last loss, but we still will be back to watch next year. Now, on to the men’s team. Should be a good season.

  63. Maverick December 13, 2019 1:55 pm

    60. Friday the 13th had nothing to do with it. It is guaranteed today that 8 teams will lose. And give Nebraska credit, they hit and dug very well.

  64. tongo December 13, 2019 2:11 pm

From a bubble team last year who barely made it into the tournament to a Sweet 16 this year, the rise of this team with just 1 returning starter, has been AMAZING! Give Nebraska the credit it is due – they shut down our middles. This team has been so much fun and a joy to watch.

  65. Beauston December 13, 2019 2:16 pm

I watched both games Texas and Louisville while watching Wahine and Nebraska. That bracket Texas is at is a cakewalk. And I’m sorry, Texas is very beatable. I wish we’ve gotten them instead.

Agreed, Nebraska dialed in after set 1. Wahine was feisty. I am so proud of this year’s Wahine team. They have without a doubt surpassed all of my expectations. What a great season. The girls should be absolutely be proud of themselves.

Wisconsin will hand Nebraska their L. It will be Baylor and Wisconsin at the Finals.

  66. Harvey December 13, 2019 2:16 pm

Congrats to the entire team and set of coaches for a successful season. The Wahine were an exciting and fun team. Top 16 is nothing to sneeze about.

I’m already looking forward to next year!

  67. rabbit ears December 13, 2019 2:17 pm

Yes congrats to the wahines! You did Hawaii proud.

  68. Big Island Volleyball Fan December 13, 2019 2:18 pm

    63-64: You are both right.

Cindy: will you stay in Wisconsin to cover their regional final even though Hawaii was eliminated?

  69. vballfan December 13, 2019 2:36 pm

    59., 66. Ditto!
Gotta remember the Wahine are Big West Champions!!!!
Congratulations and mahalo to all the players, coaches and staff. The season was a thrilling roller coaster!

  70. Maverick December 13, 2019 3:06 pm

Well, I am looking forward to seeing the #1 men’s team next month. They are on a mission to finally win the national championship.

  71. kalihifc December 13, 2019 3:20 pm

Check out the post-game press conference. Coach and Iosia seemed to have shed tears prior. This game, this team meant so much to them. I love this team.

You are wrong, Maverick. I watch the game and give my informed opinion. You do not know more than me or anyone else.

I am not troll. I will never call you a name, Maverick.

We will see you next season, Wahine.

P.S. Enough with “Go Bows.” Try something new already. Only seems bad luck.

  73. T103 December 13, 2019 3:34 pm

Not shifting anything away from the wahine, both men’s and women’s program have done well and its a huge recruiting tool. UH just announced they signed a 6’4 outside hitter from Greece for 2021. There are now 4 recruits in the 2021 class. Didn’t realize we had a stinking 6’8 guy coming in too! shesh! so awesome!

Austin Buchanan S 6-8 Fr. Moscow, Idaho (Monte Vista HS [CA])
Spyros Chakas OH 6-4 Fr. Athens, Greece
Makua Marumoto OH 6-4 Fr. Honolulu, O’ahu (Hawai’i Baptist Academy)
Jack Walmer S 6-3 Fr. Manhattan Beach, Calif. (Mira Costa HS)

  74. Astroboy December 13, 2019 3:55 pm

That whole interviewing the losing team right afterwards is such BS. What exactly does it accomplish? Who wants to watch it? You can watch the players be bummed out while they say some variation of “we did our best, but we were outplayed today”?

  75. Cindy Luis December 13, 2019 4:02 pm

No, not staying. Coming back to Hawaii as soon as we can. looking like 5:30 a.m. flight out of her.
    74. Winning team goes first, losing team second for NCAA press conferences.
personally, i need quotes from both teams regardless of who wins.
And yes, Coach Ah Mow, Iosia and Van Sickle were emotional. End of a great season that didn’t go as far as they hoped.

  76. T103 December 13, 2019 4:15 pm

Anyone got the link to the post game press conference?

  77. Harvey December 13, 2019 4:18 pm

    71. Thank you for the link, but that press conference was brutal. I had to turn it off about three questions in, just after Norene couldn’t compose herself to answer a question.

As fans, we see these young women flying through the air. They’re strong, and fierce, and fearless. But they are also human beings. After so much work and sacrifice, they hurt at a premature end of the season. That press conference hurt me.

I’m an old guy, with a 12-year-old daughter. And I thank our Creator that we live in a time where strong women in sports are embraced, idolized. It tells my daughter that in her gymnastics club, during viola practice, in the classroom….she should not fear being aggressive. Not fear being tagged as not girl-like for working up a sweat, elbowing her way to the front of the class marks. Women like the Rainbow Wahine allow this to be so in our contemporary society.

So to each and every Rainbow Wahine. To each and every coach and support staff:

    Mahalo.

May all of you have a joyous holiday season. On to the off-season and next year. I mua.

  78. T103 December 13, 2019 4:22 pm

Opps sorry just saw the link, dis-regard my previous post.

  79. nomu1001 December 13, 2019 4:39 pm

Imho, just a few plays in each game could have turned this match around. Maybe tried to do some things we didnt have to on some plays. Gave them points we probably shouldnt have in a few instances. But the fight we put up wiill get us to the finals again next year. We can match up with a team like Nebraska or Wisconsin. We have an awesome core returning team that will be at least as good, or imho, better than this year.

On different note, the incoming setter Lang looks like a good one. Kiraly will make our solid middles significantly better. Hope we can continue recruiting great players.

Thanks to the seniors who made this such a great year and have laid the foundation for future teams. Awesome, fun year. And yes, totally agree that height is overrated. It can be an advantage, but balance, talent and chemistry is far more formidable. Anyday, anytime.

No. 71, you are 100 percent right. The press conference was awesome. This team are winners.

  80. Mytake December 13, 2019 5:21 pm

I watched the match and the stream was awesome! I’m from the era of pagers and pay phones and let me tell you this is light years ahead. So stop whining you X, Y , Zers and suck it up!. It’s obvious to me UH lacks an outside power terminator. Jolie is that person but she’s rusty. Too bad cause they would have beat the Corndogs with her 100%.

  81. blunite December 13, 2019 5:42 pm

Congrats to the team on their accomplishments and for “over-achieving” this year.

Hopefully the passing improves next year, allowing the UH coaches to go with the percentages. (To do that requires accurate passing.) UH’s poor passing is reflected in the stats of their (All Conference 1st Team) middles. Unsurprisingly, in a battle of OHs Nebraska won.

To offset Nebraska’s OHs Hawaii needed strong scoring in the middle. Moreover, a strong middle attack would open up the pins (because the middle blocker cannot defend the middle attack and double the outside at the same time.)

2020 Goal: Improve the passing. The rest of the pieces are in place.

  82. Cindy Luis December 13, 2019 7:31 pm

    https://www.hawaiiwarriorworld.com/?p=52376
new thread up with Warrior signing and updated NCAA scores.
all matches in except Stanford-Utah. tied 1-1. Utes up in Set 3 9-6
    Appreciate the observations.
Hawaii’s middles disappeared. Williams 3 kills, hit .000; Igiede 2 kills, negative .200. if Igiede hadn’t hit the net twice early in Set 1 i think it’s a different match. Nebraska keys were to serve tough and take away Hawaii’s middles.
Press conferences are press conferences. This one no different than most. Usually very sad for the winners. Thought Wahine were pretty composed. Have been at some where there are a lot more tears.
It was a great season for them. Set 1 could have gone either way. unfortunate seed and matchup. Personally feel they could have beaten Texas. They would have liked another shot at Baylor.
