Comments are opened back up … if any of Stephen’s regular followers have any questions for him, fire away. There’s about 25 minutes left with UH hoops assistant John Montgomery.

I remember when ST was doing this on his blog a long time ago with the Princess. He had Coach Shoji and others. I always wanted him to start it back up.

Good interviews. Lots to digest from Montgomery. Very open with his thoughts in descriptive and lucid way. Miano too in his apologist, salesman tone. Need more analysis from both of them as season goes further.

Aloha everybody ~ It’s almost T-GATE time. The Tsai-kos have reserved ***CABANA A*** at Rainbow Bay Marina. The normal routine is the early crew arrive/set-up ~9AM, grill crew fires-up ~10-10:30, eat ono grindz until clean-up around 4:30PM for a 6PM kick-off.

    Everybody is welcome.

Questions – message or email me at jboster(at)yahoo.com. Hope to see everybody there. Cheers, SB

Miano alluded to bringing in talent (recruiting) and more speed to the defense. That Taala needs help, Scott has a hard time with execution, and that Bethley belongs mostly in the box. I hope tomorrow Batoon just puts his best players in the possible positions for them to play their best. It seems (from an average fan viewpoint) that the scheme is more important than the on field adjustments necessary.

Once Batoon gets his proper “fits” inserted this defense can/will be unreal (year and a half I think, depends on Ritner and 2020 JC DL and CB). But for now he just need to trudge through and win. Needs to happen. Can do.

Mahalo ST and Rich….seems that there is a lot to address before game day. The D just looks totally different compared to the first few games. It might be just me but seems some guys looking confused about assignments.
Anyhoo…..good format for discussion on UH sports. Allows for a more indepth review as compared to TV….1, 2 minutes before commercials?…LOL

If I recall, Kekoa would go 56-10 in favor of the home team 🙂

Toying with the idea of using two (both) quarterbacks going forward and into next season I think is a good idea. I do however think the offense has to be structured to suit the strengths of the individual QB (even in wildcat one day with Victor). Personnel, protection, run concepts, and even QB specific gadget plays designed to the strengths of Cole and Chevan.

Their skills are so different from each other. And there is so much depth that can be platooned offensively. Plus it would be real hard to prepare for. I think it would be better than waiting for Cole to fail (or not) then throwing Chevan in hoping for the best. Especially considering the play calling for Chevan last game (had to throw darts, no creative routes). The best play call was throw it up 50/50 to Mardner. They’re lucky Chevan creates on his own (imagine if Reed held on to that pass). Plan B needs to include more than just Chevan. Plan B needs to be a PLAN B. Not just a bailout.

Keliiliki, Holly and Reed need to take the next step and get to a next level before the season ends. Development. Maybe watch some Josh Jacobs videos or something. Once they turn that corner (especially Keliiliki) gonna be unreal. They have the ability. You can see it sometimes. Just missing something. I think playing harder and more confidently is the answer. Like Jacobs. Hard. And catch the ball so they can be checkdown vs 8 man coverage. Can do.
