Former UH forward Jack Purchase has signed with the Melbourne Tigers of Australia’s National Basketball League 1.

The NBL1 is a level below the premier NBL.

“Feels pretty good to be back home playing,” Purchase texted to the Warrior Beat. “Played for the Tigers in the juniors and feels good to be able to put the Tigers’ jersey back on again.”

The NBL1’s games are played in Melbourne and Tasmania, Purchase said.

Purchase earned a bachelor’s degree this past weekend. He said he was a mid-season addition. The NBL1’s season runs through August.

The hope is that Purchase can parlay this stint into a shot with the NBL.

Jack it up, Jack. Good luck in the land “down under, where women glow and men plunder, can’t you hear, can’t you hear the thunder…”

    Cappie:
I think vegemite is an acquired taste. Even as part of a sandwich.

Midori7 brought a small jar of “vegemite” home from Australia — tasted it — that was it!!!

it is truly an acquired taste!!!

You “acquire” the taste for vegemite when you’re starving. Otherwise kinda difficult to eat.

Like eating natto? Luv that stuff.

“Played for the Tigers in the juniors and feels good to be able to put the Tigers’ jersey back on again.”…hope this don’t become problematic….anyhoo, Good Luck and Mahalo for being a Warrior!

    4. UCSB is out recruiting UH and other BW schools. Besides 4.0 star Sou, they will have a 3-star freshman coming in, Kukic; a 3.5 star JC transfer, Gittens and a 4.7 star transfer from Oregon, Norris. The last one has to sit out one year but will 3 more years to play..

Pretty sure UH is now the bottom feeder among Big West basketball programs. On a better note anyone else notice Hawaii got a 2019 kicker commit from the Big Island. Comes with a big leg too. 58 yard field goal? Pretty crazy.

    Yes.

    Harry Hill, PK/P, Konawaena.

tough when across the board UH is on a food stamp budget. we get what we pay for or can afford.

Artie Wilson let listeners know at the end of today’s show that next weeks show will highlight Big West Basketball Recruiting. Quite the “teaser”. I hope UH has stuff to highlight by then.

Jaw dropping kicking power. Hard to believe. You don’t see that watching OC16 too often.

Good morning. Got word the UH football offered Kilohana Hassenritter from the big island. Related to Mana Silva. Went to a lot of mainland camps and was outstanding as a receiver. Also played qb, db, and others. Outstanding talent. Good genes.

it’s important that UH, coaches or students or athletes, continue to put UH out there for the general public to see/notice

VB had a great year and I do hope that Coach Wade will give serious consideration to local talent — notice how the ‘shorter’ Hawaii players have done well in the Big West and PAC 12 conference in 2019

    #11:

Hill was offered or should be seriously considered by UH?
