Despite a 10:25 p.m. Eastern Time kickoff, the University of Hawaii’s football game at Brigham Young drew 646,000 viewers late Saturday and early Sunday morning.

The Nielsen numbers were reported by Show Buzz Daily.

The Cougars won the nonconference game, 49-23, that was shown on ESPN2 for 3 hours 23 minutes.

It was the largest metered audience for a UH game this season and first on an ESPN platform this season. Three other Rainbow Warrior games were carried by the CBS Sports Network.

The UH-BYU game ranked eighth among 15 metered college football games shown on cable Saturday, topping Iowa-Indiana, Purdue-Illinois and Wyoming-Fresno State among others.

Two more UH games, Oct. 27 at Fresno State and Nov. 24 at San Diego State, are scheduled for ESPN platforms.

Saturday’s game with Nevada at Aloha Stadium will be a Spectrum pay-per-view showing.

    sensationalism at its best.

    Well. There went recruiting.

Oh come on those of you ALSO stating “sensationalism.” You’re most likely the type to deny low NFL TV viewership and stadium attendance. Can’t have it both ways.

Now what else convincing do we need to further emphasize how Hawaii coaching staff needed to pull all the stops for this one. No better situation, no better scenario than this time in Provo. 🙄

Other than that . . . really glad to see Ferd writing blogs on a more regular basis. They are very welcome!
