Saint Louis School safety Marcus Umu has been told the “conditional” scholarship offer he accepted has now been changed to a guaranteed offer. The Warriors will make sure to reserve a scholarship. The past two years, he was named to The Advertiser’s All-State second team.

Iolani defensive tackle Seaii Epenesa, who has had a UH offer on the table for a few weeks, is scheduled to make an official Warrior visit  next week.

UH has a home visit with Kahuku defensive end Hauoli Jamora tonight. UH made an initial scholarship offer to Jamora in July.

Any reason UCLA’s Norm Chow was visiting Leilehua High yesterday?

Neither rain nor … well, you get the message. Nearly 100 UH students tried out for about 15 UH football walk-on spots yesterday. They ran 40-yard dashes and T-drills in the drizzle, then did bench reps of 225 pounds.

About 50 current and former UH players watched the auditions, including the creatively dry Laupepa Letuli and Tuika Tufaga:

UH fans will have to wait another year to see one of the most impressive candidates: wideout Trey Gadbois, who is in the Marines. He is enrolling in UH in the fall, and will participate in the school’s ROTC program. Like Nevada’s Colin Kaepernick, Gadbois can cover 5 yards  in two strides. He would like to compete at wideout for the Warriors in 2011.

I’m glad to hear that Umu’s offer is not a conditional one anymore. It seemed that he was deserving of an unconditional offer, and hopefully he will sign with the Warriors on NLI day.

  4. Bulla January 21, 2010 7:00 am

congrats to marcus umu, another crusader playing at the next level. interesting about Chow at leilehua, and the carnival ride continues………….

Word of Life has had a plethora of D1 schools stopping by in the past few days, good job Coach Onosai in preparing your student athletes 🙂

  5. bstunna2002 January 21, 2010 7:07 am

Glad to see Umu’s offer is a solid one now he’s a good safety can’t wait to see him on the field.

  6. Bulla January 21, 2010 7:09 am

    bstunna,

do you remember what position kawika borden from pear city high used to play? he looked very good at the walk on tryout yesterday….he’s the one in the video that princess leila did.

  7. Stephen Tsai January 21, 2010 7:16 am

Borden was a quarterback at Pearl City.
He’s 6-1, 200, and tried out as strong safety.

  8. Bulla January 21, 2010 7:21 am

    ST,
thanks, he looked pretty good and it’s obvious he has been training. a very nice young man and he was well mannered in his interview with princess, nice to see and hear that in today’s world 🙂

  9. Stephen Tsai January 21, 2010 7:25 am

It’s kind of interesting to hear the coaches all say: “Where’s the Beast?”

  10. Southbay January 21, 2010 7:27 am

    Congrats Marcus!

  11. 808Chef January 21, 2010 7:28 am

Much luck to all these Warriors. May I also say if I could to all blog readers:

Cherish what you have at this moment and every time going forward. Make the most of that time with the ones you love and with those who love you. Hate, uncertainty, worriness, and anticipation is a waste of oxygen and time. Because in the end, all you have and all you’ll need is the ones you love and time.

    Peace Playas!!!!

  12. RedZone January 21, 2010 7:31 am

    Good luck Kanani.

    808,

mahalo, very true words, and from the beginning my mantra has been, ‘……… make memories, make memories, make memories….’ life is way to short, and we are realizing that with the passing of a few of our very own Tsaikos….

  14. Da Punchbowl Kid January 21, 2010 7:38 am

    Good Morning Gangeez! 🙂

    Go Beast! Nuff said.

Good luck to all of those trying out!

  15. bstunna2002 January 21, 2010 7:40 am

    Bulla,

Can’t say I remember Borden the only player in recent years from Pearl City I remember is Steven King he was a pretty good wideout for them.

  16. bstunna2002 January 21, 2010 7:42 am

    ST,

So Pemberton looked good out there yesterday, he has some prettty good hands and has a go get the ball mentality as a reciever,I’ve seen him play in the Flag Football league that Cy helps run.

  17. Pomai January 21, 2010 7:56 am

Chow has been to more places than just Leilehua!!!! I know he’s a local boy, but somebody needs to put him on a plane back to CA.

  18. NYUH January 21, 2010 8:13 am

Mahalo to the UH coaches for picking it up on the recruiting trail! Is the McMagic back?

  19. lava January 21, 2010 8:34 am

Iolani defensive tackle Seaii Epenesa, who has had a UH offer on the table for a few weeks, is scheduled to make an official Warrior visit next week.

    SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET

  20. lava January 21, 2010 8:36 am

This is another year where I am lost in the numbers. Even if we gray shirt a few guys, it seems like there are a lot of offers on the table.

  21. Maverick January 21, 2010 8:39 am

    G’morning gang.
Note the color of Trey’s Nike shoes.
Those were the original colors when Nike entered the market with the first Waffle bottom trainer.

It’s a throwback year for many

  22. Old Diver January 21, 2010 8:48 am

I just don’t get it. Recruits have firm offers on the table in some cases for months but haven’t verballed yet, hoping to get what they perceive to be better offers and then complaining UH coaches are not showing them love. Love for the program is having nearly one hundred students trying their hearts out just to be a Warrior.

  23. Da Punchbowl Kid January 21, 2010 8:50 am

    Mr Tsai-

That’s a nice piece o’ writin’ in the sports section about the Warrior try- outs. Do either of the “Big Mikes” look like they’ll get an invite?

  24. Dudley Do-Right January 21, 2010 8:51 am

mih #1 in recruiting in the WAC… GO COACHES!!

  34. Derek January 21, 2010 9:44 am

Maybe Chow was trying to visit Manley since he’s an offensive coordinator and trying to persuade Manley to sign w/ UCLA instead of NMSU! One of the mysteries to me is why UCLA doesn’t want to play UH in football. We play UCLA in just about all the other sports. Maybe they’re “chicken”! Play us home and home. Wouldn’t it be great for UH and their fans to watch the game in the Rose Bowl? Common, man!

  35. A-House January 21, 2010 10:01 am

    Derek:

A UCLA grad told me recently that UCLA will “never” play the Warriors cause there is nothing to gain.

Told him that UCLA is the ONLY PAC 10 team that has not scheduled UH. IF USC and the PNW teams can, why not UCLA?

  36. A-House January 21, 2010 10:03 am

    MIH:

your #28 – vivid reminder for all of us what Coach Mack and his staff has done for 2010.

Looks good, but not done yet – al, keeping fingers crossed that “great” news will be coming form ST real soon!!!!!

  37. A-House January 21, 2010 10:09 am

Before I forget again, kudos to the “tech staff” at the Advertiser for the excellent video/audio of the chat with TJ Kua – just gorgeous!!! Was it done “in-house” or at UH?

I have always complained, but I know when to express my thanks when good work is done!

ST photos have always been excellent except for the very beginning when he was not an expert with the camera and transferring it to the internet. Now, all we get is EXCELLENCE!!!!!!

  38. madeinhawaii January 21, 2010 10:15 am

Wonder how many years soon to be ex-marine, Trey Gadbois, will have to play? Looks like he went to University of Southern Maine where he ran track.. but USM doesn’t have a football team.

  39. lava January 21, 2010 10:16 am

A-House, you looking for free tickets or something?

  40. madeinhawaii January 21, 2010 10:17 am

Trey was a pretty amazing triple jumper and 110 and 400 meter hurdler. Would love to see him catch a long one in stride.. then do a triple jump from the 14 yard line into the endzone.

  41. postmanke January 21, 2010 10:19 am

Trey looks like a great pick-up! It will be a nice trend to see more recv’ers with size and strength and speed come into the program.

Just wondering, will Trey be a 26 or 27 year old freshman?

  42. madeinhawaii January 21, 2010 10:19 am

Then again.. there is no sand in the endzone… so scratch that… maybe just see him hurdle a few tacklers…

  43. A-House January 21, 2010 10:24 am

    lava:

Nope, just giving credit where it is due!

ST really has done excellent work by presenting us with many photos of players, fans, Tsaikos at functions, etc.

But, hey, does it help to win tickets, prizes, etc? nah, j/k!

  44. LizKauai m/ January 21, 2010 10:25 am

I got a kick out of this- from J. David Miller on fb.

For Florida Ted and all our wonderful writers:

A writer died and was given the option of heaven or hell. In hell, he saw rows of writers chained to their desks in a steamroom, being beaten by thorny lashes. “Um, let’s see heaven,” he said, and he ascended. There, rows of writers were chained to their desks in a steaming sweatshop being whipped with thorny lashes. “…This is as bad as hell!” he said. “Oh no,” replied a voice. “Here, your work gets published.”

    HiHo!

  45. A-House January 21, 2010 10:27 am

Ohhhhh, Mrs A-House will like Trey running after the catch cause she likes Colin K only when he’s not playing against UH – calls him a marvelous athlete! When playing the Warriors, “tackle that SOB”!!!

  46. madeinhawaii January 21, 2010 10:28 am

    postmanke.

Looks like he was a 2003 high school grad… maybe two years at USM..then the Marines. So, he may enter as a 25 y/o Sophomore or Junior depending on the number of credits he had?

  47. TYaiea January 21, 2010 10:29 am

ST, Very good article re the walkons. Believe all the tsaikos were just waiting for news about The Beast. Also there seems to be some very interesting news on some of the guys trying out. Several good ones…keepers!!! Good Luck to all. If meant to be, it will be…

  48. A-House January 21, 2010 10:32 am

    ST:

Most excellent news for UMU and Seaii E “tripping” to UH.

Seaii would be a good addition to the DL and reviewing the Rivals list from MIH, UH coaches have made a tremendous investment for the defense.

  49. Mr. Chair January 21, 2010 10:36 am

    ST
running backs- do you know how hogan rosehill or kainoa carlson are coming along?

  50. Stephen Tsai January 21, 2010 10:43 am

I saw Hogan yestserday. He appears to be in good shape. I don’t think I saw Carlson.

  51. Stephen Tsai January 21, 2010 10:45 am

“The Beast” has some soreness in his right shoulder. Nothing serious, but it prevented him from maxing on the bench-press reps.
He’s going to see that famous chiropractor to get the kinks out.
On the plus side, Bulla is back in form. He heckled me in messages from the second floor.

  52. mctruck January 21, 2010 10:45 am

    Derek,

My thinking is that UCLA is afraid to lose to UH, which would be….”very-likely.”

  53. Stephen Tsai January 21, 2010 10:47 am

    Lava:
    I gave up counting.
I think they know some aren’t going to make it.
    Some are grayshirting.

  54. madeinhawaii January 21, 2010 10:49 am

I guess that means that any Hawaii recruit thinking of playing for UCLA will never be seen live by the home crowd, eh?

tsk tsk… They should stop recruiting in Hawaii if they sincerely feel that they have nothing to gain by playing the Warriors… especially IN Hawaii.

  55. Stephen Tsai January 21, 2010 10:49 am

UCLA won’t play UH in basketball in Hawaii, either.
A lot of it has to do with relationships.
UH has a friendly relationship with USC AD Mike Garrett. I couldn’t tell you who the UCLA AD is.

  56. NorthShoreFan January 21, 2010 10:49 am

Congratulations to the UH Academic All WAC members! This is what it’s all about!

The Beast has been Unleashed, good to see him in action.

Looks like the Warriors can only get better with this recruiting class. We keep some more of the local boyz here and we hit the jackpot!

Me thought Chow would have visited Waialua. He used to coach there once upon a time.

  57. NorthShoreFan January 21, 2010 10:53 am

Bulla…Da Wild Bunch?…whoa…das was some time ago…guud sfball team. made some noise in the tournaments around town back then.

  58. madeinhawaii January 21, 2010 10:57 am

Would ya have thought this… La Tech goes to the air?

Louisiana Tech Names Sonny Dykes Head Coach

“We can win championships here or I wouldn’t have come,” Dykes said. “We will throw the football because I believe the spread offense is the great equalizer. In college football, you win and lose with a great quarterback and we will develop that.” Dykes certainly comes from a pass first background. Dykes worked with Hal Mumme and Tony Franklin at Kentucky. At Texas Tech, he was the offensive coordinator under Mike Leach.

  59. madeinhawaii January 21, 2010 11:09 am

  60. A-House January 21, 2010 11:10 am

Congratulations to all the UH student athletes who were selected to the all-WAC academic sports programs.

Being a full time student is tough; playing a sport makes it even tougher!

  61. Bulla January 21, 2010 11:16 am

    NSF,

yeah, i think the ‘Wild Bunch’ was the predecessor for the WWF, or pretty close. I used to pitch and also hold the ‘bail’ money for any altercations. don’t know if you remember when the ‘shower shows’ were the rage on korea moku avenue, but no such thing as solo, those showers could hold up to 3 people so i heard.

memories, many forgotten and few cherished…..like the song goes….

those were the days my friend
    we thought they’d never end

  62. A-House January 21, 2010 11:16 am

I met Evelyn Maeda, UH VB player out of Roosevelt, who had a 4.2 GPA and I will assume that she is in the “honors” program to get a GPA higher than 4.0. Very polite, humble, and gracious young lady! Hey, ST, another Roosevelt grad making good at UH!

Because she did not play in one-half of the games, her name is not on the list (best I can recall). She will certainly “boost” the VB team’s overall GPA, though!

  63. d1島 January 21, 2010 11:23 am

    mih,

LaTech used to fling the ball around pretty good when Tim Rattey was throwin’ to Troy Edwards!

…not sure how much they thres when Bradshaw was there.

  64. d1島 January 21, 2010 11:25 am

Congrats to Marcus Umu for his upgraded status.

  65. d1島 January 21, 2010 11:27 am

  66. jeezy3 January 21, 2010 11:28 am

Stephen, make sure u spell sealii name right so we get chance …..

  67. jm2375 January 21, 2010 12:02 pm

    Good afternoon Tsaikos!

Looks like we’re not the only ones not too enamored of the change in location / date for the Pro Bowl.

    http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=AoowCCUHnVA2x1iwsOirPZhDubYF?slug=ys-nfpprobowlmockery012110&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

This is for brew – HOYA SAXA!

  69. A-House January 21, 2010 12:13 pm

    d1:

I will assume LaTech did throw the ball with Bradshaw – was he not an All-American?

As for Rattey, he was a big bust for the 49ers! Just like the Celtics, when they began to select the BYU players and everything went down hill after that. So sad!

  70. A-House January 21, 2010 12:15 pm

    jm2375:

did we not tell the NFL commish that his idea was a “bad” one.

most,if not all, of the “pro bowlers” wanted to be in the Pro Bowl cause it was in HAWAII!!!!!!!!! and being recognized by their peers for a job well done during the season.

  71. A-House January 21, 2010 12:19 pm

So, ST, why the does UCLA AD have a “hard on” for Hawaii?

Someone did not treat him/her right? No one would wait hand and feet on him/her?

Can Jim D put on the charm and get UCLA to do a home and home? We would go to LA to see the game as we have not been inside the Coliseum.

  72. al January 21, 2010 12:20 pm

Salutations Tsaikos! Great to see NorthShore Fan posting again. You and Sheila can’t go another season without joining us at the t-gate!

Florida Ted…you have all your Tsaiko friends pulling for you. We miss you in the clubhouse.

  76. kama krab January 21, 2010 12:46 pm

    ST,

Since Epenesa is now coming, what about Schwenke. Do we still have a chance at him.

  77. Pro bowl January 21, 2010 12:47 pm

that is a pretty interesting article about the pro bowl…vince young??? This format (prior to super bowl) is good for those players with stipulations in their contract that award bonus’ for making pro bowl’s.

  78. BG January 21, 2010 12:58 pm

ST…thanks for the pics. Interesting techniques coming off the line. (Putting on my coach hat) Looks like Big Mike could use some help…first step was really tiny and upright too fast. Ryan looks great driving out hard…easy to see that he has a very good first step…Bulla (small ting, but) tell the Beast that right arm needs to be more 45 deg to shorten the arm swing (arc) and quicken his first 5 steps. His left arm is absolutely beautiful driving out strong. Drives me crazy when I see these DE’s try to get a fast start on a passing down by getting down in their stance with their free arm held straight and pointing back. Might help a stronger rip move, but slows the first step.

  79. A-House January 21, 2010 1:01 pm

    al:

Danny Ainge was only 1/5th of the team. Do not remember his contributions, but he is the only one to stay with the Celtics for a while.

The power forwards did not last 3 years.

  80. NorthShoreFan January 21, 2010 1:04 pm

Bulla, das was the “schedule” dem times. Play da game then afta empty da coolas. afta dat, hit the shower shows or meet at da Stop Lite den close da place down. Go home, showa, grab da clean uni and off to da next game. Some guy used to just go to da park and sleep in da car and wait for game time.
Man talk about amnesia weekendsdem days! Next work day talk story and find out about da stuff you no remember!..LOL!
All good now though..trying to behave. LOL!

  81. Stretch January 21, 2010 1:11 pm

I think that the Pro Bowl will pay the players who are in the SuperBowl their share of the money as if they were playing. I am not sure about bonuses paid by the individual teams. It would be chicken sh!t if they didn’t get the bonus if that is part of their contract.

  82. A-House January 21, 2010 1:37 pm

    Stretch:

    Good afternoon Tsaikos…

Great pics ST. If Trey makes the team it should save a schollie, no? After all, ROTC can pay his way and I think they also get a stipend these days too. I’d also be surprised if he didn’t already have some college credits under his belt coming into the program. AF or Army ROTC? Inquiring minds want to know. 🙂

    holy grail?

Matt Viles, Edison (Huntington Beach), 6-3, 192, QB, Sr.
A member of the All-Pac 5 Division Team, Viles led the Chargers to a 13-1 record while completing 213 of 361 passes for 2,948 yards and 24 touchdowns.

1st team all California div1 qb.

    Keith Amemiya

has accepted an offer to become interim executive administrator and secretary of the University of Hawai’i Board of Regents, pending board approval at its meeting on Maui next Thursday.

Amemiya, contacted by phone, declined official comment.

But his appointment is listed on the Board of Regents meeting agenda, under “Personnel Actions, University of Hawai’i system.”

Salary for the appointment is listed at $13,668 per month, with a “temporary salary adjustment” of $12,712 per month. The start date would be March 8, with an end date March 7, 2011.

The job is considered to be one of the highest positions in the UH administration — working with the school president, chancellors and Board of Regents on policy and operational issues.

FYI – in case this hasn’t been posted. HA news.

  97. BigIslandkurt January 21, 2010 5:04 pm

    VIKINGS. NUFF SAID.

Saints is a feel good pick. But like Dallas learned this past weekend, purple reign is not to be taken lightly.

    BIK

  98. rog January 21, 2010 5:26 pm

Hey Al, are we looking at Matt Viles? He was the top QB on one of the top teams. Would be a great get if we landed him. Spain looks good but he looks like a project. Viles looks like the real deal

  99. al January 21, 2010 5:48 pm

rog…just my personal opinion why we haven’t given him a good look when all he does is win. his team came in #2 for all of cali.

    he sent tape to UH.

    hmmm.

  100. ai-eee-soos January 21, 2010 5:49 pm

Shane Victorino – in case anyone’s interested –

The Philadelphia Phillies and All-Star center fielder Shane Victorino have agreed to a three-year contract extension worth $22 million, a source familiar with the club’s negotiations told ESPN.com’s Jayson Stark.

The deal would keep him under contract with the Phillies through 2012.

Victorino earned his second straight Golden Glove award in 2009 while hitting .292 with 62 RBIs, 10 home runs, 13 triples, 39 doubles, and 25 stolen bases.

  101. TYaiea January 21, 2010 5:55 pm

BIK, yep…Vikes and Colts to win s/up and ats. But, got my fingers crossed…lol

  102. Rog January 21, 2010 6:05 pm

    Hope the coaches offer Viles

  103. Derek January 21, 2010 6:28 pm

I’m real happy for Shane Victorino and his family. Based on his production, it’s about right. One thing for sure, he’s the highest paid major leaguer from Hawaii by a mile. Pretty good from a guy from Maui.
It’s a great story. $22M isn’t too shabby for 3 years, an average of $7.33M per season. He can buy a lot of real estate in Las Vegas!!!!

Terrific 1st half for the BasketBows….lots of energy and good shot selection.

  109. Ralph January 21, 2010 7:39 pm

why hold the ball with 3 seconds and let the clock run out…for many teams, 3 seconds is a lot of time to get the ball down and get a shot off, even if it is a long 3 point attempt.

  110. Slugger January 21, 2010 7:45 pm

Miss UH sports…didn’t even get to see A.C. play for the Denver Nuggets. He was on the bench the whole game. The Nuggets did win…Chauncey Billups was great. Monta Ellis was shooting treys for the Warriors. It was fun!

Good to hear that Umu is formally being offered a scholarship.

Good luck to all of the athletes who tried out. GO BEAST!

Nervous about getting a foul perhaps?

  131. Ralph January 21, 2010 8:56 pm

close, better ball handling and we get a win.

  132. Kazz (blkberry_storm) January 21, 2010 9:00 pm

JUST like the UNLV football game, if one were to look at the last few moments to blame on the loss, you HAVE to go back and look at how we let NMSU back in at the beginning of the second half.

That lost us the game, not that last second shot.

“If you were up drinking heavily last night and don’t wake up on time, don’t blame the last two traffic lights right before the office for making you late to work.” ~ Uncle Kazz

  133. Ralph January 21, 2010 9:00 pm

needed more pressure on the ball to prevent an easy pass to Young, pressure doesn’t need to result in a foul, he received the ball cleanly and had time to set up his move and shot.

  134. Ralph January 21, 2010 9:03 pm

it wasn’t the traftic lights uncle Kazz, I was late because I had two flat tires. 🙂

  135. Kazz (blkberry_storm) January 21, 2010 9:04 pm

We needed to assert ourselves to start the half and not let NMSU go on a 12-0 run.

Ralph, just saw the video and I was laughing up until that stupid arse “Hawaii only played HS teams this year” comment…

I know it was a spoof but (______) it.

Stupid arse comment, the Wahine would have handled Minnesota like a bunch of Big 10 rejects, Texas and Penn State were a cut above the rest of the country… truth hurts for some people. The Wahine were the #3 team in all the land last season and whoever #4 was is still a helluva long ways behind the Wahine.

Video was creative, but obviously whoever made it has got the Hawaii-bias B.S.

I didn’t see the rest of it after that.

    (______)!!! 👿

  139. madeinhawaii January 21, 2010 9:20 pm

Needed to eat up a second or two in the back court to go to overtime. …

Oh well… frustrating as hell cause you want to see Nash do well… and see the team start winning the close ones consistently.

agree with you D1 on the “value” and it doesn’t make sense when

UH is not nationally competitive in multi-sport programs

at this time it may drive people away instead of drawing them in.

good morning. i dunno. we’re still on the positive side of the bubble as far as Warriors football is concerned. planning on making most of the home games this year, starting with USC. gonna buy tix right next to the tunnel. 😀

  153. Jason January 22, 2010 6:43 am

Just saw this on ESPN.com, in an Insider article published yesterday by Todd McShay. It talks about who is doing well and who is doing poorly at the East-West Shrine Game practices, and it has John Estes as one of three under West Team: Good Days.

    C John Estes, Hawaiʻi
Estes used his quick feet to get into position, delivered a strong punch and locked on so he could sustain his blocks during team period. We were also impressed with the range he showed, getting downfield to throw blocks on screens or runs.

  154. Jason January 22, 2010 6:45 am

    Here’s something from Wednesday:

    High praise
Hawaiʻi C John Estes did an excellent job of resetting his hands and his feet during 1-on-1s. How good was it? So good that offensive line coach Ray Brown stopped and told the group that he loved Estes’ hands.

  155. Bulla January 22, 2010 7:03 am

    Thanks Jason
    Good reviews for Estes 🙂

    Bhf2
the wife wants to get 6 season tickets 🙂 3 are spoken for, the other 3 to bless friends. Now the challenge of where…I like the south endZone, above you and centered, aisle seat, row 20 or higher, right where Jack Flash and company sit.

The boss and the beast want sideline row 10 behind the team. What’s a dad to do? Hmmmm

  159. Bulla January 22, 2010 7:09 am

One word for last nights game = choke

  160. Kekoa (iPhone) January 22, 2010 7:19 am

    A’lo Tsaiko’s!

Well pahtna, looks like if they raise da ticket prices, they will know the effect by the end of Spring. Ticket renewals might decrease, and overall ticket sales could be very disappointing. If that doesn’t panic the front office by opening day, it could only get worse.

Winning might sell more tickets after the team
returns from the 2 road games. Question is, will it
be enuff to salvage the season?

  161. LizKauai (iPhone) January 22, 2010 7:19 am

  163. Kekoa (iPhone) January 22, 2010 7:30 am

I just might move to the South EZ to provide *back-up* for BHF2. Braddah came close to being tossed last year! Can’t let that happen…

  164. Bulla January 22, 2010 7:33 am

    kekoa,

he just has to keep the helmet on, that way Security and HPD would look bad arresting a ‘challenged’ person in front of the home crowd….but keeping the helmet on is key to his defense.

  165. Bulla January 22, 2010 7:41 am

    speaking of helmets,

has anyone seen or heard from the ever so dashing Homey? miss the guy…..but I did see Elvis at Ala Moana last week…………i think……………

  166. Kekoa (iPhone) January 22, 2010 7:47 am

    Coach Bulla ~

Those of us who took over the EZ at UNLV made a huge impact in the stands with our bannahs and our boisterous cheering! That transferred well onto the TV and media coverage. A *heavy* Tsaiko presence concentrated in one section might help boost ticket sales (or scare people away!) Lagging sales in the Spring could provide us a chance to look at what’s available in that sector.

The idea’s generated on this blog could help sell even more tickets. Let’s hear from the rest of the Tsaiko Nation.

    Ralph on # 134,

I empathize & sympathize with you; been there. Actually was on the H-3 leaving Kaneohe, when I had the flat in a driving rainstorm. Changed the flat to the spare ‘doughnut’..then found out IT was flat too. Had to walk to the emergency phone (no cell) & it was broken, so had to walk to the next one. When I got back to the car, saw that one of Honolulu’s Finest was there. I thought he’d render assistance; but he only came to tell me it was a Federal highway, so if it wasn’t gone in less than 45 minutes, it would be towed at my expense.
