Wow nice , but I wish these teams were coming in the fall for real matches instead lol.

I assume Hall will be in charge for the Osaka match, unless a new coach is named in 10 days.

    1. don’t know what the final schedule for 2017 is yet so you never know.
Hall has been in charge of the workouts, it’s mostly conditioning stuff for indoor players unless they are also playing beach.
Hall currently on the mainland this weekend for recruiting.

wow tough spring matches. good thing they don’t count. lol

$11 for exhibition, spring matches? That’s kinda pricey.

On Matlin’s decision that’s due soon. If the new hire is announced as reported, Shoji is retiring. He mentioned that he doesn’t want a farewell last season tour.

If Shoji is coaching MG will get majority of sets (as designated “terminator”). UH will go high ball sets, hitters expected to go OTT. That pretty much says it all.

Expect passing to be discussed in the post game reviews.

    Who is MG?

  8. Viva La Lindy February 17, 2017 6:39 pm

Praying for The next head coach to be
    1. Deitre Collins
    1st runner up: Devon Scruggs
    2nd runner up: Mick Haley
    3rd Runner up: Liz Kitra
    4th: Langteng-Welch (UCSB)
Because they all had a taste of Shoji on the losing end of matches, thus makes them perfect candidates

    7. Granato

    Granato

    8. Is the perfect candidate is a coach who has lost to Shoji? That would increase the relevant candidate pool exponentially. To whittle down that long list, should UH find the coaches who have lost the most to Shoji?

  12. Ron February 17, 2017 9:03 pm

If MG is our “go hitter” it will be a long season.

  13. Maverick February 17, 2017 9:10 pm

It will be a long season. Not many credible options besides Maglio on the outside. Others are works in progress or healing.

Keep the faith folks. Several will raise their game. Life after Nikki.

Hopefully, Jeff Hall returns from Utah quickly. (Triple Crown Volleyball NIT)

If he implements a faster offense NI may be able to make Hawaii competitive. (Recall Wisconsin match, w/out Nikki Taylor, Annie Mitchum, Kalei Greeley.)

15 – I hate when you use just initials all the time. Especially when you write a long post. My brain doesn’t like working that hard.

  17. blunite February 18, 2017 11:06 am

    RE: #16

I use initials because I’ve been deleted before, i.e. blog filters.

Shoji sets high ball to his best hitter over and over, regardless of result.

His advice: “bring the heat”, only resulted in TMO hitting negative several games, just like MG. (The team survived due to NT’s production. )

Agree with blunt . Noreen is special and the Coach will need to use all of her skills to keep us relevant . Sibley has a quick arm swing but she needs coaching!

  19. Kazu February 18, 2017 11:42 am

I hope that Sibley having been working on her game. Have doubt about Kalei and her shoulder. I have this feeling that she won’t be 100% and if she’s not next up would be Sibley or Castillio. Maybe one of the Freshman M can train as OH.

  20. tako February 18, 2017 1:25 pm

    re: 19
Think Sibley is special and will be a solid OH next year. Also think we have sufficient depth (good athletes) at OH, specifically the two incoming freshmen, to make things interesting and competitive.

My concern and best wishes go out to Coach Shoji. Think Howling and Williams need to stay at MHs.

  21. Cindy Luis February 18, 2017 4:48 pm

    17. i don’t know why you think you were deleted/marked as spam for using players’ names. That’s not how our filter works.
    19. Sibley is working on her overall game with the beach team.

still talk of Maglio moving to Opp as well as the offense not being so predicted on an opposite. We’ll just have to wait and see.
