Warrior football: Training day at Schofield

The Warriors will take their offseason workouts to another level during today’s training at Schofield Barracks.

The Warriors will split into two units — offense and defense — and take turns participating in exercises at two training areas.

Told about the forecast of rain, head coach Nick Rolovich said: “I hope it does rain.”

We’ll post pictures later.

Isn’t Harbaugh’s ‘Pacific Island Swarm Tour’ supposed to start tomorrow?

  3. orioles4eva June 25, 2016 6:48 am

Good morning Hawaii fans, at this point of the year we are unbeaten and optimism is high.

  4. Shoko June 25, 2016 6:51 am

    Apparently so…

“Harbaugh, former Hawaii assistant Tony Tuioti and the rest of the Wolverines’ coaching staff will be in Honolulu on Sunday for the ‘Pacific Island Swarm Tour’ series of camps, which begins that day at Saint Louis School (high school players only). Registration begins at 7 a.m., and the non-padded camp runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.”

    and live fire?

    GOOD MORNING, HAWAII!
IPU MAN #5 – I remember crawling under the barbed wire and the mud. I remember charging up the hill in Kahuku – also in the rain and mud. No fun that!

UH Basketball, baseball and volleyball players to get $2,000 COA stipends this coming year, football players only $1,500, per SA article.

Just watched KITV Sports with Robert Kekaula. Nice coverage of Warriors at Schofield – all about obstacles to overcome with team effort. Tug-o-War and other teaming activities. Rolo is a master of keeping the players involved and interesting for the team. I think they had fun today.

    East Range!
I thought I had those days completely erased from my memories.

    Arizona vs. Coastal Carolina.

Interesting match-up; it’s like the Wildcats playing us.

Didn’t Fred Von Appen hold practice at Barbers Point in his first year?

    Stephen…
I believe our Warriors open the season on August 27, 2016 against the California bears in Australia. So I presume the opening of fall training or practice will at at the end of July ??

I suspect L Kiffin will be in town watching TT workout at the camp on Crusader campus

Good morning Liz! Nice to know you’re in the hale. I was glad to see that Trey is still around. ST, do you know if he’s still active duty or retired?

Fun to realize how many here remember East Range and hikes/runs to Kolekole Pass. We were running a night navigation exam for our unit when a squadron of choppers tried to land on us. It was a sprint to the land line to call range control and find out what the h__l was going on.

All these football posts should be on Warrior World facebook post at the same time.

Is the team no longer doing training at Pearl Harbor anymore?

  20. A-House June 26, 2016 9:13 am

my basic training was at Fort Ord, CA

2 close friends were drafted in their senior year at UH and took basic at Schofield

another was one class behind me — I volunteered with the goal of securing the highest security clearance available [ attained ] and going to OCS [ accomplished ]

    one day at the rifle range, we were shooting at spotted deer which made the “cadre” very unhappy — I went to the entrance of the range and looked at the “badges” available and made the commitment to secure a “expert” badge { done }

at the rifle qualifying range at Fort Benning, a Master Sgt approached me while firing and asked if I would transfer to the “sniper” program – told him no, wanted my commission — final score was 95 of 100 targets hit — kept complaining to the cadre that the target at 300 meters was stuck as I was sure I hit it – Sgt said you missed all at that range — asked him to inspect the target, he did, came back and told me I had hit the center 3 times and the mechanism was stuck, but would not change my score.

did any of you fire “across” lanes to hit another target? we did and that pissed the cadre something fierce!!

  21. A-House June 26, 2016 9:32 am

glad to see UH increasing the “subsidy” and I will presume it was triggered by the Legislature passing and Gov signing the $3 million “state” direct contribution to UH and UH-Hilo athletics — that, must have pissed off some profs royally!!!!

glad that most, if not all, the “minor” sports getting the $2,000 stipend as scholarships must be “shared” among the players whereas football players get a full scholarship

among the mid-level teams – does the stipend amount really affect an athlete’s decision to attend Boise St or UH?

yet, my bottom line is the athletics bring in many $$$ to the economy whereas a prof teaching a class is “truly” an expense to UH — yes, some profs are awarded “grants”, but where is it spent and how much does that help the State?

  22. A-House June 26, 2016 9:39 am

I do hope some local football players are watching what Coach Rolo is doing for the program — it all starts from the “top” be it sports or business or military.

It’s an exciting time for us fans – UH 24 Cal 22

and, commitments from the 2 Aussie football players in Melbourne recruited by Michigan! coup de ta!!!!! wait, did UH invite both players to attend the Sydney Cup on 8/27/2016? pay their own way, but a great intro to how American football is played.
