Safety first
Safeties Aulola Tonga of Kahuku High and Michael Wadsworth of Silverado High (Las Vegas) plan to play for the Warriors ths season, then go on two-year church missions.
* * * * *
Left tackle Aaron Kia continues to reshape. He is up to 293 pounds, but has maintained his agility with daily sprints and footwork drills.
* * * * *
The Warriors still are trying to sort out their active roster.
There still is a possibility that linebacker Joseph Malabuyoc, who has remained in Hawai‘i this summer, might secure a spot. Malabuyoc, who is from Canada, was on the spring roster.

FIRST!!!Amazing.
What about Quentin Beaver? Gary Nagy?
mornin
Welcome aboard to Joseph Malabuyoc.
Keep working hard – good things will happen.
Aaron Kia – looking good.
This is your senior year – go all out.
Show leadership – by leading. Be the first guy out to practice;
be the last guy off the field.
Play hard – play SMART !!!
Have a great year.
From what I’ve heard, Quentin Beaver is not on the 105.
I’ve heard nothing of Gary Nagy, so I assume he’s not on the 105, either.
Top Ten

nine and good night.
perhaps tonga and wadsworth could go on their missions together?
nice one, two punch we have here. hopefully they can contribute this season..
Good morning Tsaikos. Good to see both Tonga and Wadsworth will get some experience of college football before going on their mission. A Kia looks good.
I hope that Tonga and Wadsworth enjoy this season before they go on their mission. Safety is an open position right now so they have a chance to get into the rotation this year.
All of Aaron Kia’s hard work in the offseason will be extremely important if the Warriors are going to have a good season this year.
Best wishes for Joseph Malabuyoc–remaining in Hawaii showed his dedication to the team, and I’m sure he’s hoping for a roster spot.
Article about how the Titans lack depth in the secondary…which give Ryan Mouton a good opportunity to move up in their depth chart quickly.
Today’s update about Ingram from the Boston newspapers:
Q&A with Colt!
Garret,
good read on our man-Colt; mahalos.
Good morning Tsaikos everywhere.
Looking good, Aaron Kia. Keep workin on dat first step speed.
Wads and Tonga, only heard great things about you two. keep it up, Warriors, keep it up.
Forgot to say…looking foward to watch Colt in action during pre-season and hopfully during regular season games….Go-for-it and good luck CB!!!!
is tonga shorter than wadsworth?
Good Morning All! Back to the grind today after a great weekend. Hope everyone has a good one.
good morning letsgo, bhf2, dj, and mc. long time no see bhf2. am up in the north country and will be migrating south tomorrow.
ditto on da best wishes to all.
Pulling for da big one with Colt.
Hang in there, Ingram. we’re sending you love and good vibes!
whitey
is wat you doing anything close to the Alaska experiement?
wuz watching da lady on dat show kill da fish she’d caught by wackin em wit a stick …. too funny… told Doreen I saw her on TV. 😆
also is kamalani alo still planning on going on a mission after this year?
hope you all had a great weekend. i did. got super inspired watchin da Tour bikers riding over a hundred miles each day and then burning it up at the end… inspiring…
Gotta go, gotta go. hi ho hi ho.
have a great day peoples.
Tonga and Wadsworth both seem pretty tall for safeties.
In the photo, Wadsworth was trying to “stretch.”
Not sure what Alo’s plans are for after this season.
I wonder what the return rate is for players who go on missions.
Off hand, I can only think of two: Inoke Funaki and Waylon Lolotai. But both went on missions before starting their UH careers.
There were two players who were supposed to go on missions but never did: Nate Ilaoa and Viliami Nauahi.
I think Waylon Lolotai will probably redshirt this season.
He’s listed as a defensive end, but I imagine he’ll be a linebacker in the future.
Good Morning Gangeez! 🙂
Looks a pair of young, quality safeties. Best of luck to them.
Kia looks lean and strong, I hope he has a great season.
It’s great to see bighilofan2 back on the active roster. Things weren’t the same without him!
lolotai is already 245, i could see him being a fixture at DE in the future. he has a good HS resume. all state TE 2 years, all-conf LB 2 years, all-conf DE, state champion wreslter 215lb
I always thought it would be good if, say, you had a 4-minute lead at the end of stage 12, that you start the Tour De France’s stage 13 with a 4-minute headstart. That way you eventually end up with the race’s winner crossing the finish line first. There are too many times the winner is coasting in the middle of the pack during the final stage because he has such a tremendous lead. You can never get a photo finish in the Tour.
Aloha Kakahiaka!
HIHO!
Good Morning Tsaikos!!
Good morning!
Drive safe and be cautious.
Great Morning All!
Condolences to Dr.Doc and his Ohana.
Safety is always a good thing; two is even better!
Morning gang!
Good Monday Morning Tsaiko’s!
Woke up feeling like a Monday morning QB. When the fog lifted I realized…Eh!…wrong Monday! One more week before practice starts
If you know of someone with experience in community health issues who is interested in working with the military returning from Iraq or Afghanistan, here is an opportunity for a one-year consultant’s position.
This article includes a photo of David Veikune at practice with the Browns along with an article about his signing. The two second round draft picks that haven’t signed contracts yet are competing with each other for a starting spot…so the Browns might be using their desire to get an edge over their competition to get them to take a lower contract amount.
Oops, I think that photo was from minicamp and not today’s practice.
WassupDoc,
Condolences to you and Dr. Doc. I hope that Dr. Doc’s family is dealing with things as well as can be expected.
Article about how the Titans lost all of their backup CBs from last season and didn’t sign any CB free agents, so they will need one of the two CBs they drafted (hopefully Mouton) to be ready to play as soon as possible. Mouton has a really good opportunity there…but I’m sure that 6th round pick thinks the same thing.
Gotta saddle up and head out on the H-1 slaughterhouse trail. Had one mean acident here on da ceded lands dis past weekend. Diana, Kimana and our heavily recruited Nephew were coming back from a Grad party.
She had made a left turn at the Kapolei Parkway intersection just minutes prior. Another cousin was at the light waiting to make the left turn not long after her. He witnessed the impact, and the SUV veered off the collision and headed straight for him! Lucky for him that it stopped right in front of his front bumper!
Talk about helpless and frozen in fear! What can you do when you’re at a complete stop and a car comes careening out of control at you! Cousin Terry got out to help the man in the ‘vette, but he said there was no pulse already…sadly confirmed by EMS when they arrived. Of course the drunk driver survived along with her friend. She’ll be haunted by her actions forever…I guess that’ll be her perpetual punishment.
Let’s be careful out there…please.
Article about the King Kamehameha Classic Football Games that were recently held in Hawaii.
Kekoa:
I’m so glad your ohana was safe from that terrible mess! C rM and I immediately thought about you guys since your hale is very near by.
Please, everyone, be responsible! No can handle, sleep in your car!
Kekoa,
dittos on Colomaohana’s comments!
Garret,
Interesting that as football-starved as Hawaii fans (and esp. Tsaikos) are, I think the Kamehameha Classic really flew thru under the radar. I don’t recall a mention in the HA or seeing it on TV news.
How did they manage to hide 200 invited football players? Neat trick! 😉
BTW, Kekoa: Give Pops one beeeeg kine hug and kiss for me! I hope his meds start to “cooperate” wit’ him! Practice starts soon…..No can miss dat, right?!
Colomaohana,
Gunfunnit! You so good, eh?!?!
Do ditto dat one, too! 😆

Colomaohana ~ I’m back in my safe zone for now. At 1:00 PM I have to leave my safe zone and get back on the H-1 East again…Grrrr! Need to put my game face on to deal. I’m thinking CrM escort.
Former UH Defensive coach JG used to say that he chose his LB’s by making them run across the H-1 during heavy traffic. That would be like watching the *Running of the Bulls* in Pamploma, Spain…speaking of which…Where da he$$ is jm2375?

Which team do you guys think will want him?? As a QB??
Condolences to the “Doc” ohana

(J)J,
Game day decision but conditionally, I’m in.
The ACC is looking to increase their TV revenues when their contract was up–they currently get $6 million per team from TV and the SEC gets $16 million per team from TV (I think the WAC gets somewhere between $100k and $200k per team from ESPN). If the ACC and Pac-10 combined to create their own TV network, they would have a pretty good footprint around the country and the time zone differences would give them blocks of games (with the East Coast game on before the West Coast game).
Maryland isn’t printing media guides this year, but they had a 41-page handout for the media printed on regular paper.

Surprise! surprise! “I’m in…” (tentatively)
Congrats curveball….
By the way, it was good to see A-Joe on several TV newscasts last week Thursday, singing during ceremonies for the arrival of US Navy’s newest addition to the Pacific’s fleet of submarines. It was A-Joe’s first performance with the Kamehameha Alumni Glee Club. After only one month of rehearsals brother A-Joe was under the lights and cameras welcoming the USS Hawaii to Pearl Harbor. Great job brother A-Joe!
Kekoa, that doesn’t mean the A-Joe loves Sailor Blue more than he loves you. We think of both of you as brothers and during the week of the Army-Navy games, we cheer all of the Armed Forces personnel.
Congratulations Curveball!
Watch out for the Somalian guys.
(J)J . . .
I am in!
Remember how RGM’s coach said that his demotion was only for one week? Well, now he’s undecided as to whether or not RGM will get his spot back.
I’m devastated that A-joe has cast favor on the Submariners, even temporarily! Come football season…Grrrr! We’ll be sinking some those Navy boat drivers 2 by 2!
Full Speed ahead Warriors!…oh wait!…Watch Out for Curveball!
Powderpuff, looks like Continental and Delta have one-ways flights for $304, but they both have 1-stop and are overnighters. You can also try this website.

(J) James ~ You managed to get yourself in deep do-do with Mrs. C. Plus, you no mo one ‘get outta jail’ card to use on CrM. Hide, is not an option on dis rock!
A Peace offering might work, but she may not hear the word spoken clearly.
That is one slim looking 293. Go Aaron. Keep working hard.

Years ago, before they instituted a law to outlaw speaker systems on pov’s…my friend had one mounted in his car. He was a HAM operator, and had his radio eq. in the dash. Just for fun, he decided to mount a speakers in his grill, with a toggle switch to control it on the dash.
We sometimes would pressure people at the stop light by scaring the bejesus out of them when they were slow to proceed after the light turned green.
We usually said something like this Real Loud, “Eh brah…you goin’ or wat? Da light been green for 10 minutes! One day a very large Samoan male came out of his car, and walked back towards us. We immediately served around him and took off down the street!
The speakers were dismounted the next day.
I know that (when one is) going on a church mission is a personal choice, but it doesn’t make any rational sense to play one year, then go on a mission (disrupting continuity), return & then try to integrate into the program again. It seems so much more sensible to go on the mission first & then come back to the team, otherwise the knowledge & conditioning you gained initially is essentially lost. I’m not speaking from experience however & will defer to real athletes if I’m the one suffering from faulty logic.
Congrats, curveball!
hmmm… wonder if ST is posting a new blog tonite… isn’t he on vacation?
i believe the players got to be of age to go on the mission and all of the HS players are too young. one year of UH and they become of age and eligible to go on the church mission.
ST is not on vacation, he is attending the WAC media day in Salt Lake
Where is ST tweeing from- 2 hours ahead of Hawaii…. hmmm. First Class?
oh.. my bad… Working…
Have fun, ST!
Hey Ralph- let’s play scrabble!
i’m not a game person, not even a farmer LOL
you don’t play SCRABBLE????
wow.
Nitey Nite and Sweet Warrior Dreams!
Safe home, ST!
everyone must be working on their farm tonight.
gee ralph.
no games?
not even tic tac toe?
no farming?
is that why you left lanai?
ralph’s right though i believe they have to be 18 before trekking a mission. bringing them in for a year helps to keep the athlete in tune with the school offering a scholarship.
