Gameday: Cal State Fullerton

Hawaii will have to get it done against Cal State Fullerton without its top scorer on Saturday night.

Aaron Valdes is in street clothes as he recovers from a sprained left ankle suffered in the 73-52 win over UC Riverside on Thursday.

It is the first missed game of the season for Valdes (14.2 ppg).

Forward Stefan Jankovic steps back into the starting lineup coming off a 12-point outing on 5-for-7 shooting from the field against the Highlanders.

Cal Poly and UC Riverside earned respective upset wins over Long Beach State and UC Irvine on Saturday, moving them to 5-6 in league play. It’s imperative for UH to take this game to give itself a little breathing room.

UH will firstly try to contain CSF guard Alex Harris, the Big West’s fourth-leading scorer at 16.1 ppg. Like Valdes, Harris has been a bit up and down in terms of his scoring consistency in league play.

Senior forward Steve McClellan is the Big West’s qualified leader in rebounds at 8.5 per game.

Brian…everyone who is a UH fan /supporter knows what idiots we have running the show. What is the main reason Ben “I hope he leaves real soon” Jay won’t name him our HC. He’s earned it as the players bust their back sides for him.

Um, they offered Benjy a one year deal supposedly it was written for $185K or so he turned that offer down. Now the job is posted publicly I thinks and they want him to reapply I thinks. Like I’ve written before Benjy’s not accepting the offer may not be only about a 1 year deal but maybe the money too as he probably knows Gib was getting $340k+. This is just what I’ve read in the media

… and to make things worse, UHbb and fans still don’t know what the sanctions are if any which I assume will be for one reason or another if UHbb is making a deal with the NCAA or if the NCAA is mulling UHbb response(s) to their letter of allegations.
