Hawaii-Cal Poly game NOT free video streaming // Leahey with DHC again

UPDATE: Looks like the Cal Poly game is not being streamed for free online by the Big West website, as advertised. That’s disappointing.

The game is on KKEA, 1420-AM radio.

KHON-TV sports director Kanoa Leahey will reprise his role as play by play man on ESPNU in the second year of the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic, including UH’s opener against Florida State on Dec. 22.

He’ll also handle the two consolation semifinal games.

“It’s really exciting to be involved with the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic once again,” Leahey said in a release. “Serving as an announcer in the early stages of a growing basketball tradition in the islands is a wonderful privilege.”

I thought Leahey did an outstanding job last year, bringing local knowledge about not just UH but the tournament’s backdrop as a whole. Tournament director David Matlin agreed.

“Kanoa’s return … allows our national audience some key insights and local flavor that only a kama‘aina can share,” Matlin said. “He’s a young, up-and-coming broadcaster who garnered a spot on the team again after showcasing his talent last year. His appearance is one of the many benefits that the ESPN partnership provides to both the University of Hawaii and State of Hawaii.”

Jon Sciambi will handle the PxP for the other seven televised games in the tournament. Mark Gottfried and Doug Gottlieb will alternate as the color commentators. Sciambi and Gottlieb were here last year, too, while Gottfried is the lone newcomer.

is Artie going to be Kainoa’s sidekick?

I think them 2 will do fine side by side but with Artie’s knowledge of the game would he make Kainoa uncomfortable?

I think they would get along fine cause Artie like’s to talk

    Pocho,

No, since it is an ESPN broadcast, Kanoa will be paired up with Doug Gottlieb for two games, and Mark Gottfried for one.

The game isn’t free. You need a cbssports.com membership, which requires you to input your credit card information.

This is odd. If you go to the Cal Poly website and click on gamecast, you’ll get the play by play and it’s AHEAD of the radio broadcast.

lose by 1 on a put-back as time expires…. we need to cut down our turnovers!!! 27!?!? At what pace were we playing at? Was there a lot of pressure put on by CP-SLO, pressing, trapping, etc??? Not a good audition for Big West entry, huh??
