Stevens official // Three women's signings

Serra High (Calif.) senior power forward Ronnie Stevens signed and sent his national letter of intent to play for Hawaii for the 2011-12 season.

Comments from UH coach Gib Arnold on Stevens should be forthcoming soon.

No word yet on Morningside (Calif.) senior point guard Gerry Blakes, but he is expected in sometime between now and Wednesday.

Harvard-Westlake (Calif.) forward Damiene Cain, a primary UH target during this early period, could be going to Colorado, according to Insidesocal.com.

The Hawaii women’s basketball team has officially inked three players for 2011-12 during this early period.

As long expected, Molokai High 6-foot senior center Kalei Adolpho was the first. She will play both basketball and volleyball at UH, but will be on a basketball scholarship. UH coach Dana Takahara-Dias said it was still being worked out exactly when Adolpho would transition from volleyball to basketball next season.

The second is Temecula Valley (Calif.) High 5-foot-10 senior wing Malia Cravens, the younger sister of UH football player Siaki Cravens.

The third is a junior college player with three years of eligibility, 5-foot-5 point guard Jasmine Ray of San Bernardino College. Takahara-Dias said Ray brings toughness; she played three years of high school football as a wide receiver, cornerback and kicker.

That will be all for the early period. The Wahine have three scholarships left to fill during the spring (late) period to reach their allotment of 15.

Don’t forget about the Wahine’s exhibition tonight against Brigham Young-Hawaii at 7 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.

And, of course, the 47th Outrigger Hotels Rainbow Classic tomorrow night with Gib Arnold’s Division I debut against Montana State at 7 p.m.
