As many of you know, Robyn Ah Mow-Santos has been with that USAV women’s junior national team as an assistant coach. She is currently at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. This is the quote from her that now is above the door to the gym.

where did she post the pic?
Would love to see her succeed D.S. as the next wahine volleyball coach. Geezus, what an uplift it would be for the program. Of course, Wong is probably groomed as the next successor but either one would be great for the program.
I think Robin is the best fit for UH Women’s VB Coach.
Wong does not have the deep connection to UH that she does.
Time for a Rainbow Wahine to coach up the “Wahine.”
Wong should stick with beach volleyball. Ah Mow-Santos should be our next indoor coach.
By the way, there’s an exciting match going on between USA and Russia in Montreux, Switzerland. If you tune in now before 11:30 AM or noon (should the match go to five sets), it’s worth watching.

UH has a 2014 roster up with the remaining players from last season and now Ponce is off the list as well.

I think in time UH will have a Wahine coach, that would be nice.Would Heather Bowen fit in some where’s ?
I’m sure UH will hire the best coach that applies, whether male or female. I am pretty sure it will be a male though.
Heather Bown does not coach so no need to bring her up. She is still playing professionally. Not sure she even wants to get into coaching.
One name to keep an eye on is former warrior assistant , Dan Fisher. In just a year he’s taken pittsburgh from terrible to a possible NCAA team next season.

I like Fisher but don’t see him as the next coach.
Coaches who IMO will be highly looked at if they apply are
Sealy (even though ucla had a bad year, he’s still an amazing coach)
Deitre collins (for obvious reasons)
Of course Robyn and scott.
I would love it salima was our next coach but she’s most likely gonna take over psu.
But realistically, any coach with a good enough resume would be considered if they applied, it will come down to whos the best fit for us.
5. Could be a mistake on the web guy’s part. Or it could mean she really isn’t returning. With Mendoza, Kahakai and Anderson (and it’s likely a couple more walk-ons will try to earn roster spots), she probably wasn’t going to see a lot of action and just decided to concentrate on schooling.
Don’t see the UH job opening up for at least another two years.
Whoever it is will need to have a good grasp of how to recruit to Hawaii. Rockwell doesn’t have that background. I can see her taking over at Penn State when Rose retires. Makes sense.

Mistakes on the UH websites happens quite often. Keani Passi is listed as a senior.
ok so rumors of big time transfers from pac12 and SEC, hope they are considering UH, I believe UH has one scholarship left.
16. I believe they do, but they also needs scholorships for their 2015 athletes in castillo and granato. Wouldn’t mind a transfer though. An OH would be amazing
17. I am sure they will work out the scholarship situation, and some players always leave after the season so doesn’t make sense to leave a scholarship open for a whole season for a recruit that’s not coming until a year later, Also the transfers could be seniors.

Watching USA vs Germany now for the volley masters championships and it’s disappointing Kanani is not out there. Really hope Hartong gets healthy soon as well, not being a homer but I really think they both can do better than Hill and Robinson for the USA. Just not a fan of Hill at all, she gets blocked way too much for a player of her height.
Also Don’t like both setters for USA(both from UW), not sure why they don’t have Carlini at setter
and Ajanaku in the middle out there over Paolini.
BTW USA vs Germany match is being streamed on ESPN3 live now.
*** some anonymous face on VT says two BIG TIME players transferring and the Hawaii fans start hoping that they come here without even know who they are,what school they are leaving and if we even need their services.

Anonymous volleytalk users have proven to be right a lot of times.
Personally I am hoping for an outside transfer because I feel uneasy about starting one of Olevao/Passi. Also how many top 20 schools have scholarships to give this late?? I am thinking not many, and I know UH has at least one maybe two if Huff plays basketball. Although I do hope one goes to Sarah for her senior season.
So is it true that Davis Holt and Emily are an item ?

20. What’s the big deal if UH fans hope that a possibly big-time transfer comes to Hawaii? No harm in that. Obviously, we all want this to happen if the player is indeed ‘big time’, and is an OH or OPP, which is where we’ll need help. If it doesn’t pan out, no big deal.

You have to understand that players who are included in these competitions’ rosters have to be a member of the national team program and have to have been training with the team leading up to these tournaments. Carlini might have spent time, but did she train full-time and did she commit? Is Ajanaku training with the national team? Why would you be disappointed that Kanani is not there? She is not part of the national team. It’s no surprise she’s not there. Same with Hartong. Yes, we all knew she trained with the national team, but we also know that she is rehabbing an injury. What makes you say Hartong is better than Robinson or Hill? She has yet to play a single match at this level. Additionally, there is no place for Hartong on the national team if she doesn’t improve her passing. Robinson and Hill are better passers than Hartong.

in terms of national team prospects … kanani might be undersized for the type of player/athlete that karch is envisioning for his outside hitters. although, with karch’s desire to run a faster offense, kanani would seem like she’d fit well in it. but with the inclusion of a player like kim hill, karch may be going for size (among other factors) that can also play in a fast offense. the only other role i could see for kanani (and it’s been discussed here and on VT in the past) is at libero. but that may be incompatible with her attracting pro contracts as an outside hitter (which tend to be more lucrative than liberos).
hartong might have an easier time breaking into the national team. she’s got the size and athleticism. her passing will be the big question mark. but if anything she could also find a role being either a serving specialist or some fast offense off the bench when the starting OHs struggle. here’s hoping her rehab goes well and can either join the nat’l team or start playing pro to gain the requisite experience.
these are just some thoughts/ideas. i have no inside info on the us program or the players. but it’s an interesting discussion to have since we’re mid-way thru the quad.

25. exactly. many quality players not currently with the national team due to other commitments.
Different rosters named for different competitions out of a pool of players.
Example:. Miyashiro not playing in the Monteaux Cup.. Was told she is expected to be on the roster when the team plays here in July.
Have also been told that Kiraly is very high on Hartong.
There is so much time between now and when the Olympic roster will be named in 2 years.
26. If your post is directed at me, there is no need to be rude. You don’t like Hill, I get it. But you also repeatedly ask why Danielson and Hartong are not playing/not on these rosters and why are they not playing in place of Hill, Robinson, etc. I was simply giving you the answer: they are not part of the national team so they are not going to be on any of these tournaments. And being rude does not change the fact that Hartong is not a good passer.
Btw, the Sato family (and there have been many..libero/ds’s, coaches) have family ties to Hawai’i. The majority of the younger ones were born in SoCal, but the fraternal lineage goes back to Japan–THROUGH HAWAII–into L.A.
Ast. Coach Gary was born in Honolulu. Eric was raised in Santa Monica.
