I know Mike Wilton’s outspokeness polarized folks. But here are two endearing qualities:
• He used to make his players learn the words to Hawai‘i Pono‘i. It was quite an aural experience to hear Costas Theocharidis, Dejan Miladinovic and Eyal Zimet sing Hawai‘i’s state song.
• He was among dozens of athletic department members who donated sick leave to  the mother of an ailng child.

The case between Daniel Smith and UH is heading to mediation. Smith had filed a suit claiming UH reneged on a scholarship offer. The talks are set for June.

Hello to all Tsaikos and all the ships at sea! So dang busy at work I hardly get to post these days, but still reading regularly.

Hey, bowfanny, enough with your disdain of JD. It’s old and unfounded. Allowing bolla to hire Mrs. Bolla was a great tactical move. It destroys a number of potential claims/lies. Are you really a litigator?

Top Ten, baby! Mojo and out!

On the one hand, I want him to go away with nothing and on the other hand, I just want him to go away as quickly as possible, without UH having to spend the time and money to fight him. Re: Scuffles
The best one was a few years ago, involving two soccer players. All of the football guys raced over to watch.
The worst fights were in basketball. During a timeout, Chad Hook tried to headbutt Micah Kroeger. Only Kroeger was too tall, and he ended up head-butting Kroeger’s shoulder.
Then there was the fight between 6-8 Lorenzo “Rennie” Gordon and 6-1 Thomas “The Hitman” Louden. Gordon started backing up, acting like he was going to do the rope-a-dope, only there were no ropes. Then he ran away. Nobody ever saw Gordon again.

Back to work for me. Laters.

  40. Piper's son April 14, 2009 8:47 am

    (J)J Happy Birthday!

Interesting about the Bolla suit. Of course he could have brought it (non-compliance with Title IX) up way back when instead of diverting attention from the charges of hitting/abusing his players.

If there is non-compliance or even partial compliance with Title IX, the UH will have to remedy that in some manner or the other but it certainly should not benefit Bolla in his attempt to get $$ or his job back.

The main question has to be whether or not he was fired for cause. The cause is assault/battery, abuse of position – unfortunately lousy coaching and handling does not enter the equation.

My two-cents worth which should be adjusted for inflation.

  41. Stephen Tsai April 14, 2009 8:55 am

I’m surprised HF wasn’t included in the lawsuit.
HF is the one who wouldn’t let him hire his wife or a director of operations.
JD approved both of those hires.

  42. kama krab April 14, 2009 8:57 am

    Howzit Everybody,

I feel this E-Bolla suit is a joke. I say that if he wants to file suit then we get all the girls he has physically and mentally abused and have them come back and file suit against him. E-Bolla is such a loser and is just trying to make himself feel better about himself. What a joke.

  43. Stretch April 14, 2009 8:58 am

ST – how can he file a lawsuit against his best bud HF??!!?? HF gave him the fricken contract extension that is complicating the whole situation.

  44. kama krab April 14, 2009 8:59 am

He didn’t include HF because they where kissing each other arses. When JD came in, the love affair was lost.

A crucial four-game series for our baseball bowz begins FRI w the Sac St Hornets.

Sac (20-13, 1-3) visits the Les this weekend with six starters hitting above .302.
They are led by Blake Crosby (.405) and Tim Wheeler (.392).
Crosby has 51 hits and 36 rbis and Wheeler has furnished the power, with 12 roundtripers and a eye-catching 50 rbis.
The hornets have a .317 team BA.
They have beaten Oregon, Ariz, teams from the Big West and West Coast Conference.
They dropped three in Las Cruces to the Aggies and will want to rebound against Hawaii.

While the bows pounded the ball well in their last road trip, their pitching uncharacteristically went south allowing 35 runs in its three-game series w Nevada.
Jayson Kramer will have to get the bowz off to a good start with a strong performance on Friday.
Kolt Wong has been leading a team resurrgence in hitting.
Greg Garcia, Landon Hernandez, Vinnie Catricala, Kevin McDonald and Sean Montplaisir have also raised their averages.

Hawaii (4-3), trails NEV (5-2), NMSU (5-3) and SJSU (5-3).
NMSU is @ Reno for 4 while the sparts have a WAC-bye.

Best wishes to Coach Mike & staff and the bowz-boyz and see u @ the Les!

This Mock draft has Washington taking Sanchez. That would bury Colt’s chances to play, especially since they would have to give Sanchez a lot of reps in the preseason.

My pal Rick Snider from the DC Examiner looked at the board in our Big Blue View Community Mock Draft and could not believe his good fortune. Here is what he did with the pick.

    13. Mark Sanchez, QB, USC

Seriously, I can’t believe Sanchez will be around for the 13th pick. But given in this mock draft that he is, the Redskins would gladly grab him. In fact, don’t be surprised to see them trade up to do it. The Redskins missed trading for Denver quarterback Jay Cutler and incumbent Jason Campbell is in his last year. The Redskins don’t want to re-sign Campbell so grabbing a quarterback to groom for one year under coach Jim Zorn is a given. (Uh, whatever happened to second-year passer Colt Brennan that everyone wants to anoint as the next Sonny Jurgensen? Last year’s model, baby. Dan Snyder likes shiny new toys.) So, Sanchez is the pick for this draft.

My thoughts: It seems the Redskins have finally given up on the idea that Campbell will develop into a big-time NFL quarterback. Most reports I have seen indicate the Redskins’ biggest need (other than Snyder selling the team to someone with a clue) is on the offensive line. But, if you don’t have a franchise quarterback and you have a chance to get a guy you think can be one, you don’t pass that up.

  60. konagold April 14, 2009 9:30 am

This reporter suggests that schools play each other in spring games…kind of like a 2-game NFL preseason (so everybody gets a home game). This could bring in additional revenue for all schools. Other NCAA sports get to have these types of preseason scrimmages…

Starters would play about a quarter or two. The starting quarterbacks would wear one of those “hands off” jerseys. The backup quarterbacks are on their own.

Who wouldn’t want to do this? The players would get to hit someone else besides their teammates. The coaches would be able to evaluate the roster based on performance in an actual competitive game. The fans would get to roll out their favorite jerseys and charcoal grills and pretend it’s college football season.

Meanwhile, athletic directors would get big crowds, and full stadiums in some cases, depending on the matchup. Because of travel costs, the majority of these games would be regional. And you could play two of these “games,” so everyone gets a spring home payday.

The spring game at Nebraska is already turning into a cash cow. Why not go all the way? How about Nebraska vs. Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota or Wyoming?

These types of scrimmages already occur in volleyball, men’s basketball, soccer and baseball. Think of the money. You might not charge a regular-season price. But you could get half ($30) and, in turn, half of a regular-season home payday. ESPN, Fox or the NFL Network might also pay to televise these games. Did I mention the money?

  65. Stan Manley April 14, 2009 9:39 am

Inoke: Most players in the past who played QB (Matt Jones, Hines Ward, Antwann Randle El) end up playing receiver later in their careers. In your case, why running back? And second question, is Princess Leila awesome looking? Lastly, what about Mr. Tsai? Is he pretty? Thanks…

  66. Kekoa April 14, 2009 9:40 am

Time for a question for Mr. Funaki:

How many times have coaches told you that you were too small to play football?…and how did it feel when you proved to them you could?

Enjoy this season young man, you are a great role model for so many local boys!

  67. Garret April 14, 2009 9:41 am

  68. Garret April 14, 2009 9:42 am

  78. warriorfanny2 April 14, 2009 10:06 am

lgw, brah we prolly share the same opinion on slots and receivers, but my particular focus will be on Coach Ron and Gordie. yep, Gordie!

#1, what adjustments will CRL make on his triple-option routes? It’s a learning-curve variable and u got to want a Rodney Bradley to learn quick, cuz that may create a situation to move Salas to slot. A move, I believe, will help Greg Alexander.

#2 What Malcolm Lane will show up in August?
We need Malcolm taking balls away from defenders in a crowd. He has the talent….it’s his senior year, he needs to show-up big.

#3 Can Coach Shaw get it going on the OL to create a more stable pocket and create view channels for our QBs?
Its a combination of QB-WR telepathy, route-simplicity and sustained blocking.
John Estes is in a position to help Coach Shaw with his all-wac talent and leadership. Get after your boyz Big John n keep ’em focused.

#4 naturally, our WR corps will be better at Camp-stage than it was last year.
    great assests!
Kealoha Pilares should have a great year, if left at slot.
    KP has a strong work-ethic.
Greg Salas will be good no matter where he plays, his hands are magic-velcro.

#5 depth. We have mucho assests and prolly the best depth ever.

    Stuzz2 is intriguing….even as a true frosh.
Throw in Javonte, Blount, Tinoco, Pollard, Medeiros, Henry and Bell. Ill be taking a better look at Micah at camp to check his growth and mechanics. He has the natural athletic instincts, but is he a relentless-grinding-fiesty-Chad–dunno?…yet.

  79. Kekoa April 14, 2009 10:07 am

One of the worst concussions I ever experienced took away a 4 hour block of time that I could never recall. My question is:

Did that happen to you?…and if so do you often find yourself trying to remember what you experienced during that blank spot?

Please be sure to get an MRI at least annually to check on things.

    [Comment From LizKauai]

Inoke- in 2007, the keyword was BELIEVE. What do you think the keyword will be for this year’s team?

Discipline. Because coach McMackin has been mentioning a lot in our meetings about how he’s noticed good work ethic from our team during the spring. I think discipline is needed to have the type of work ethic that we need in order to be successful this year. I feel that discipline is what is going to help us to grow and get better.

  95. Inoke Funaki April 14, 2009 10:48 am

    [Comment From Stretch]
Do you think going on your mission has helped you adjust to the position changes you had to go through on the football field??

Definitely, I think the life lessons I learned on the mission have carried over into my life after the mission. I’ve learned from Church and being on the mission that everyone is important, and with football, like I was talking about earlier, that every player has an important role, whether they are the quarterback, the receiver, running back, or even scout team player. They help to contribute to the team. It’s helped me to be understanding as to no matter where they put me on the field or off the field, I can contribute in some way.

  96. warriorfanny2 April 14, 2009 10:48 am

lgw, blount is someone who can make it difficult for defenders after-the-catch with his jittery, shake n bake moves. Henry is smooth and hopefully can catch on to our system.

  97. chawan_cut April 14, 2009 10:49 am

    homey,
the Florida boosters we sat by last year couldn’t pronounce Inoke’s name, so they called him OkeeFanokee like their swamp. they were really worried about us in the first half and didn’t know what was going on.

Hey Inoke, aside from football whats your favorite pastime activity?

I love playing basketball; it’s actually my favorite sport. If I was good enough in basketball I would have probably tried to play somewhere.

  99. YpoWarrior April 14, 2009 10:50 am

    Inoke,

Are you working the coaches to get the “Bulldog” position changed to “Raider” or “Red Raider”?

  100. Inoke Funaki April 14, 2009 10:51 am

    [Comment From kimo]
Inoke Knowing that you were a QB did coach design some trick plays?

We haven’t talked about it in detail. But from the sound of it, it seems like there could be some possible some tricks up our sleeves. IF I can take care of the basics of the running back position. A baby has to drink milk first before he can eat meat.

  101. LizKauai [Discipline!] April 14, 2009 10:53 am

    Inoke- mahalo!!!

  102. Inoke Funaki April 14, 2009 10:54 am

    [Comment From John]
Inoke – you seem so calm and collective in person – are you the same on the field? How do you keep your composure?

I like to believe that I’m calm and collected on the field. Sometimes I can be very hard on myself and very critical. I try to keep my composure by just trying do my responsibilities and what the coaches ask of me and not worry about everyone else. I just let them do what they’ve been coached to do.

  103. Inoke Funaki April 14, 2009 10:56 am

    [Comment From Brian]
Will you possibly be used as a last resort QB? Meaning, are you still studying the playbook as a thrower?

Yeah, definitely. In practice, as we do team and 7-on-7, I still have the habit of watching the routes because I’ve been a quarterback for so long, that’s what I’m conditioned to look for. A lot of times I’ll get caught up watching the receiver, and the routes and if the ball went to the right place. I’m still in tuned to what’s going on. I still try to throw, just in case. You never know. When the coaches put me at running back, they just wanted to try me out. It wasn’t an official move; they just wanted to see if it was a possibility. We’ll see through spring what the coaches want to do.

  104. Inoke Funaki April 14, 2009 10:59 am

    [Comment From Chad Seattle]
Inoke, what is the moral of the team after last years disappointing loss to Notre Dame. Do you feel this year’s team is more experienced and ready to thrive. What are your personal goals and expectations for yourself and the team?

Last year was last year, and we’ve moved on. You can’t dwell on the past and I think everyone is trying to take last year’s experience and make this year a better one. You learn from the past, you live in the present and prepare for the future and that’s what we’re trying to do as a team. I feel this year’s team, especially on offense, has a lot more experience. I do feel that we should and can do a lot better. My personal goals and expectations are to do what the coaches ask of me, whereever it is, and I trust that our coaches will use me in whatever way is best for the team.

  105. Inoke Funaki April 14, 2009 11:02 am

    [Comment From chawan_cut]
Mr. Funaki, what did you guys as players think of the practice on maui? Was it just another practice? Or did it help to get away from Manoa for a day?

It was a fun experience. When you have trips or experiences like that it builds camaraderie and it was nice to get away from your daily scenes and experience something different. I thought it was really thoughtful and considerate of the coaches and administration to go out there and try to give back to Maui.

  127. lava April 14, 2009 12:02 pm

“You learn from the past, you live in the present and prepare for the future and that’s what we’re trying to do as a team.” Wise words. With comments like that, Inoke may find himself back at quarterback.

  128. Kazz (blkberry_storm) April 14, 2009 12:08 pm

With Greg Alexander admitting himself he was not ready in the early part of last season and Rausch’s arm a question mark, Funaki’s heroics in the road game against FSU helped get us to a bowl game.

No doubt he’ll contribute a lot this season.

  129. Da Punchbowl Kid April 14, 2009 12:25 pm

Rather than call the new “hybrid” position the “Bulldog”, I think we should call it the “Inoke”. He’ll run the ball, catch it, pass it and block as well. We already see how good he’s becoming at RB, let him do all of those things and the defense will have a really tough time time stopping him.

  130. homey ℞ April 14, 2009 12:56 pm

DPK – If Inoke did all that he’d be all buss up. The D would go head hunting for him even if he didn’t have the ball.

  132. LizKauai [Discipline!] April 14, 2009 1:04 pm

Hybrid position could be called the “Warrior”. Trick em and stick em. Funaki confuses the dee while GA throws the bomb down the field.

I’m going to be looking for instinct development on both sides of the ball this year.

You better tell the coaches that because isn’t that what they’re talking about doing with him anyway? Or is he strictly an RB now. If that’s going to buss him up then, never mind.

  137. homey ℞ April 14, 2009 1:23 pm

DPK – In your scenario I see him as an almost exclusively every down offensive player. That’s why I replied getting all buss up.

So, according to al, if Inoke plays a major role this year, you’ll be at a game or two. See you there!

BTW, she was kind of shame to ask…I realllllllyyyyy don’t know why…but, anyway…if the Tsaikos can lend out a prayer…I know we’ve done that in the past and it has worked…..

Come Sept. 19 for UNLV/UH showdown, stay close to A-House when he hits the craps table. Don’t want to put too much pressure on him, but back-to-back 45 min. to 1-hour rolls over the course of two days were really special, and he’s confident he’ll remember how he did it, too. I don’t ever remember him being so happy (not even on our wedding day), smiling constantly, planting wet smooches on my cheek…telling me he’d buy me anything I wanted…Big Mac, Whopper, Super-sized fries…skies the limit! What a guy!

haaaa, hi Mrs A-House………good to hear you guys did well.

I admit that I do not know the identity of Koa-mahu . Without the tracing data from ST and the techies, it is an interesting mystery.

    Of course, I have my suspicions… 😛

On a slow blog day, I think we should have nominations as to who we think Koa-mahu is… maybe list our top 3 suspects (max.) and later compile it to see who “wins” the election 😆

Jason — you feel like compiling the votes?

Koakane — I’m just curious who would be voted in as the most likely/popular to be Koa-Mahu. Some things should remain a mystery…especially since Koa-mahu has gone a very long time here without any identifying slips that I’ve noticed.

Of course, hard to make slips when the topic is so one-track minded 😯 But I have narrowed my suspect list to 5… 😉

    Inoke Funaki,
Cannot say enough about this guy, can tell he one natural born leader. Just pau watch the replay of todays show and I was glued to the screen listening to every word bruddah said. Very inspirational guy and I know his teammates gravitate and feed off that. Nothing against the other running backs in the stable but with Inoke in the backfield, just his presence alone would make opposing defenses she-she pants! Besides, I think he can be a big surprise this year and probably invent a new position based on how talented he is throwing, running, blocking, etc… Kind of reminds me of like the Scottie Pippen of football. The Point/Forward type. A guy with the knowledge of the whole offense who can make plays with the ball in his hands and also hold it down and bang with the big boys if needed. Anyway, I know he mentioned about getting his Master’s Degree and working on a PHD, but I feel as talented as he is, he could play professionally somewhere! If I was an NFL scout I would definitely love to have a player like him on my team!

  221. A-House April 14, 2009 7:34 pm

Clicking on Chawan’s #73 post yesterday, I visited the hawaiisports.com site and scrolled down to see what Coach Mack and his staff were looking for in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013.

Interestingly, I see a lot of “smaller” QBs, players from Florida, Texas, Nevada, and of course California. Yet, several from the Pacific Northwest and very few from Hawaii. I’m sure the list is very incomplete at this point in time.

The 6’8″ DT from Florida caught my attention. Believe he is a sophmore in high school now. Why would he want to play for Hawaii when he can go to Florida, Florida St, Miami, South Florida, etc? If he is good and signs LOI to Hawaii, some one or many someones did a very good marketing job for the Warriors.

Another article about how the Dolphins are interested in David Veikune.

The Dolphins have shown interest in Hawaii’s David Veikune, a potential third-rounder with 16 sacks the past two years. Miami invited him here and to its private workout (with Ireland/Sparano) at USC.

Article that provides analysis of the football schedules for D-IA provides some interesting information. WAC teams are playing 7 games against D-IAA schools, same as last year. WAC schools are playing 3 home games against BCS Conference schools and 12 road games against BCS Conference schools.

Western Athletic: There are seven games against FCS foes, the same number as last season. Idaho and Nevada are the only league schools not playing an FCS team. There also are 15 non-conference games against “Big Six” opponents, with three of those on a WAC campus. Fresno State is playing three “Big Six” opponents.

Studies found that the streams of information provided by social networking sites are too fast for our brain’s “moral compass” to process and could harm the emotional development of young people.

Before I go to sleep, I had to post this article about how Wyoming is going after Polynesian recruits. I can’t imagine a Polynesian pipeline to Wyoming, but apparently Mike Fanoga is a very good recruiter…and the more Polynesian players they get, the more attractive a destination it will be to future Polynesian recruits…

It’s not easy to have a Polynesian influence in Laramie, Wyo.

But the University of Wyoming football team definitely has a Polynesian influence in place now with new outside linebackers coach Mike Fanoga.

In five short months, the Cowboys have already recruited three Polynesian players in defensive back Trendt Marsom (Honolulu), wide receiver Alo Moli (West Valley, Utah) and defensive Mike Purcell (Highlands Ranch, Colo.). All are part of UW’s 2009 recruiting class.

Two other Hawaiian players have indicated that they will walk-on at Wyoming in the fall.

In looking ahead to 2010, two additional players with Polynesian ties have given Wyoming and new head coach Dave Christensen verbal commitments — defensive end Sonny Poletasi (Lawton, Okla.) and defensive lineman Desmond Tautofi (Honolulu).

“If we can get two or three (Polynesian recruits to come to Wyoming) in a year, that would be great,” Fanoga said. “My goal is to get five or six per year.”

Just how many players with Polynesian backgrounds have played at Wyoming over the years would purely be a guess. Most recently there have been only three — defensive lineman Paul Nunu (1974-76), fullback Mike Patolo (1996-97) and linebacker Leo Caires (1998-2001).

He has 22 years of coaching experience on the college level, beginning with his alma mater in 1987. After leaving UTEP, Fanoga has made stops at Livingston (Ala.) University, Iowa Wesleyan, Valdosta (Ga.) State, Kentucky, Western Kentucky and most recently, New Mexico State.

He has recruited over 100 Polynesian players at those stops.

geeze, wyoming getting verbals already. i wonder when we’ll start getting some 2010 verbals…

manytimes UH coaches get tips from friends, associates, family, alumni, etc. MACs bunch is extremely interactive with their contacts.
It may do well to land one recruit in a particular geographical area that may lead to others.

However, when looking at MACs commits over his 2-years, the high school players are all from Hawaii and the western regions with the notable exception of Destin Stewart, who is from OKL.
    Ditto w JUCOs.

MAC is a speed guy, and rightfully so.
Hawaii is deep in certain types of players and shallow in others.

There are risks in going beyond the Mississippi.
JJ learned that the hard way.

Once you trust in MACs recruiting-organizational skills, the rest is easy.
D wins and speed is the sine quo non of D.

Ill say it again, until we get shut-down corners and safeties that cover the width in a heart-beat, we will remain mediocre on D.
When you have a front that attacks, you need your backside to cover. its that simple.

  241. warriorfanny2 April 14, 2009 8:50 pm

Hawaii has more Polynesian players than any other D1A team in the nation, so wazzup?
geez, has anyone being to Laramie?

look, if u guyz are worried about reverse migration–dont.
Aside from sheep and homophobics, you can hike along the powerline trails and strum on a six-string ukulele.

    Re-Jake Ingram

Early this morning, I was listening to 1420, and Gary Dickman is subbing for BC. He’s interviewing Jake Ingram, long snapper, and a NFL draft prospect.

Before I get into the interview, let me make an observation on GD. In the past I’ve read comments from posters here maligning GD and the Animal Show, saying basically how ill conceived the show is. But when I see GD working solo away from CH he does a helluva better job. He comes across with added maturity and there’s not this aura of goofiness I see when he’s paired with CH in the afternoon show. This morning he’s was good, especially when he interviewed Jake.

About the interview with Jake, GD asks the questions in rapid fire succession, which is something I’d admire–and he asked some good ones. For it seemed like when you’re listening to the interview you getting your bang for the buck. It was great. Boom,boom,boom-squeezing in so many questions and answers so the radio listeners can extract as much information on Jake in the interview–and they did, surely. I did…

Facts I learned from GD’s interview with Jake

    1. He presently weighs 233 lbs. And scouts want him to get to 240 lbs.
    2. This last year he made 8 tackles. With 2 coming in the Senior Bowl game.
3.NFL teams scouts said to him:
    a) They like his velocity on the snaps
b)They like the way he runs down the field on punt coverages
c)They like the way he doesn’t telegraph his snaps
    4. A lot of what he learned about long snapping he is quoted as saying he picked it up from the internet
5.His brother, also a long snapper, has been long snapping since the Pop Warner days–and is due to arrive at UH for the fall camp.
6.Has no preference on what team he wants to play for, saying that with 32 teams out there he’d be happy to find a spot
    7. He’s is privy to knowing which teams are having long snappers retiring or ones getting to the end stages of they’re careers, but reserved comment on which teams are showing the most interests in him. Something to the effect he’d rather keep things under wraps.
    8. During the games on the sidelines he’s likely to be gripping the ball, lining the laces up–holding, squeezing the ball to get a feel for the ball. He mentioned that cold, wet weather making long snapping an added chore.
9.He will be here in Hawaii during the draft.
    10. He likens long snapping as being able to throw the perfect spiral, but doing it upside done ( which makes sense to me).

One note to add is that it was during Jake’s sophomore year I remembering listening on the radio to Coach Jones predicting that Jake was going to play on Sundays. And at that time, honestly, I thought it was Coach Jones going overboard with his evaluation…and maybe I laughed to myself at another one of Coach Jones wild ideas…but you see look what happened– Coach Jones was creditable right. And my hats are off to Coach Jones on what he saw back then…and to Jake in the upcoming draft and his past performances for the Warrior team.

Having a cerebral type interviewee, like Jake, that answers the questions in rapid fire succession, too…. maybe (no?) enhances the interview and makes the interviewers look good, too (no?).

roysan, good stuff. thanx for sharing.
dont get me started on Dickhead, the hermie-backer. lol.

I have watched Jake for two-years practice and he is truly incredible. He does it on his own. His drills are uncanny.
He does this one drill on the diamondhead side of the grass-field from inside the 5 yardline.
He snaps the ball at one of the goal post-legs and aims at a target, and he doesnt miss….over and over again his snaps are perfect or near perfect.
He goes from one drill to another, working on punt snaps and holder snaps. Every practice, without mentor or urging.
And he is a perfectionalist for speed and accuracy.
    He practices perfect.
One mistake, he does it again and again in machine-like fashion.

JJ knew he would be drafted by his junior year and said so publically.
Jake Ingram stands head n shoulders above the rest…and he has earned it the hard way with incredible work-ethos discipline, dedication and consistency.

All my life I was on the farm and later got a degree in Vocational Agriculture at Colorado State and for 30 years taught agriculture in High school and now at Koolau for 20 years. I am very sad when some one make fun of Agriculture..Where is your food coming from…Also, the students I work with knows that they will not make a living in the field, but enjoyed the class for they learn life skills while they are learning which they could not do in the other classes. Many of these students come to me and say thank you for helping them. This is the one factor that keeps me going even at my advance age.

    talk about molehills and mountains.
Look, folkz you all need to get a grip, be secure about yourselves and plant your carrots without fear that warriorfanny is a bunny lookin to raid your garden.

Im sorry if you are hurt and require counseling.
But, jump off your self-adoring pedestals, go back to my original post and you will see the context of my words were not meant to bring an end to agriculture that we all know.

If that doest work, try hatha yoga and controlled breathing.

Try to meditate on all the problems of the world and in particular those that live in oppressed countries with political police and no freedom of expression.
At the same time condense your ego into the form of a miniscule grain of sand, until gradually you accept yourself as one that comprises a vast and endless desert.

Now if you reach that point of supreme concentration and focus–you will be rid of all the petty extra-sensory-perceptions that inhibit reason and cause disfunction.

Ready…all together now, in a lotus position and follow Richard Simmons….ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmm.

Talk about foul taste. You dis farmers and agriculture and when a couple folks voice their displeasure at what you said, your advice to them is to essentially shut up and take it on the chin. I might not be adept at those subjects specifically but talking down about that profession or lifestyle is probably the last thing to cross my mind. Somehow talking down about people and/or lifestyles seems to come almost naturally to you.

The tag works wonders if you’re gonna say something off-the-cuff and not come off as if you were serious about it.

I’m sorry, but I just couldn’t let this one go without making a remark. You can only keep your thoughts to yourself for so long before you gotta vent. I guess for me that time is now (almost 4:00am where I stay).

Maybe my mind will be refreshed come lunch time…..

    Re-Les Keiter

I can’t help but think that when people eulogize the General the first things that come to mind is “wow, what an enriching life he had”. And he did. His passage on this Earth took him to different venues and different stages that when I later listened to him on past radio interviews recanting his remembrances he spoke with such an fevered excitement, like the Ali-Liston fight nearly 60 years ago, like if the fight took place yesterday. When I listened to him, he was excitable, and he could describe the fight in detailed clarity–yet what I observed merging when he spoke was not only the profound recanting of the sporting event but that of his spirit…which above anything else, his spirit, so devoted and coveted–will surely be missed, too.

Extracting so much out of life is so fulfilling and so admirable. And the General did.

And how I remember the General is that of a little child awakening on Christmas Day, where he conveyed so much zest and zeal in broadcasting the Islander games and anchoring the nightly sports.

What wouldn’t surprise me, though, is if someone actually includes in their eulogy at the General’s memorial that his passage on this Earth was marked like everyday was like a Christmas morning…for this is the quality I saw exuding from the General…an admirable quality that to me was really endearing that I can envision when I remembered listening to his broadcasts..

Extending one’s condolences to a once in a generation type broadcaster runs deep, too. And my thoughts and prayers are with the family during this hard time.
