I thought coaches could not vote for their team?

WVB rules different in the BWC?

I am uncomfortable with this year’s WVB players – there is NO single “to-to-player” as UH had in many past seasons.

Perhaps the “newbies” will surprise everyone!

So that means only 4 of the 8 other BW coaches voted the Wahine team #1 ? The BW coaches must really feel they have some very good teams out there.

Since Dave voted for his team, one of the coaches from the teams ranked 5 – 9 did not vote for the Wahine, and voted for UCSB.

Not hard to figure out.The female coaches in the BW have an alliance.

Cal State Fullerton is on Wahine’s schedule? I didn’t see the schedule yet. It will be an interesting reunion for the AD at Cal State Fullerton.

    Tiki,
CS Fullerton at Hawai’i on Oct. 3
Hawai’i at CS Fullerton on Nov. 1
And AD Jim Donovan had that “reunion” for the first time during the 2013 conference season

Again, here’s the link to UH’s schedule

it’s not surprising the voting is a little more spread out … considering last year’s result, and who the top teams in the big west are returning (and not returning).

this is a hawaii team that is perfectly capable of taking the big west crown again, but will have to do a whole lot more to “earn” it, than past hawaii teams going through a conference schedule, and given hawaii’s relative inexperience this year. hawaii has the players to do it. the trick will be finding the right combination.

Looks like our star OH has a medical issue, three more weeks of rest says Doc. Hope this doesn’t turn into a long term problem.

I saw a photo a few years ago posted on VT of one of the past Wahine teams. They wearing uniforms where the shorts were a Hawaiian flower print , the shirt I don’t exactly recall but it was Hawaiian style.

Anyone recall what year that was and are there any photos around? I think a retro night is something this program should look into.

    Cindy ?

the 70s and early 80s had some of the uniforms you describe. Do not remember the last year that they wore those.
LC, I just happened to be scrolling down. I’m not getting notifications of postings via email yes. Still working on that.

Tiki, CSU Fullerton has long been in the Big West and Hawaii has been playing them for the past two years. and the years prior to the WAC membership.

  13. Cindy Luis August 7, 2014 7:30 pm

    1. yes, coaches can vote for their own team.

  14. Cindy Luis August 7, 2014 7:32 pm

    4. I see no conspiracy among the Big West coaches, gender-based or otherwise.

A House: Perhaps not having a “go-to player” will help ensure we spread the offense and not be quite so reliant (predictable) on our OHs! 2004 turned out to be a magical season when we thought we were rebuilding…I would love for this season to be similar!
