Warriors … come out to play-ay!

Too bad games are not decided at banquets.
The Warriors were named the unofficial winner of the chant-off at the Sheraton Hawai‘i Bowl banquet.
First, the Notre Dame players performed their victory chant.
Then at the end of his speech,UH head coach Greg McMackin noted the Warriors had their own chant. McMackin flashed the shaka sign at defensive tackle Keala Watson, who led the Warriors in a rousing ha‘a.
At one point, according to his wife, Watson knocked over two chairs and a serving cart.
In the back of the room, some family members tossed kukui nuts into the air.
McMackin noted it was the only the time the Warriors had full participation in the ha‘a.
UH athletic director JIm Donovan said the Warriors’ rendition was “like poetry.”
* * *

When “Hawai‘i Five-0” plays in the first and second half, the Warriors want their fans to make paddling motions in sync to the music, the way the student section does it during basketball games.

* * *

I spoke with two Notre Dame officials who were pleased that the Fighting Irish would be on the sideline facing the national television cameras. And that the Fighting Irish would be the home team. Little do they suspect that as the “home” team they will be standing in the rays of the setting sun.

* * *

There is a perk to being the visiting team. For some reason, during home games, the Warriors cram their entire team into one locker room, leaving a neighboring locker room vacant. The visiting teams, meanwhile, always use two locker rooms, usually separating the offensive and defensive units.

    Good Morning Tsaikos!!

I figured that UH would be the “visitors” and stand in the shade. ND likes the sunshine so let them stand in it.

    re: story on warriors statistics

i like how the coach cannot blame a single individual(s) “o-line” for the number of sacks or the lack of protection. But when it comes down to special teams and how great our punt team is, all of a sudden Rego is congratulated as the key player. LOL…i dont get it…….

  34. Kekoa December 22, 2008 9:08 am

    Good Morning Tsaiko’s!

    “I’m interested!”

If I win…I’ll give it to my neighbor who just happens to be the loudest person on our block! People in Waianae can hear her scream *Chee Hoo!* when UH scores. Her and hubby are season ticket holders who procrastinated until all good Bowl seats were gone.

Funny thing is, she’s normally a very shy lurker. Give her a few moments to down a few ‘shooters’ and she instantly transforms into the loudest cheerleader on the planet! (Some of you met her at the Blog Bash, her dad was with her). Note to BB Fans…her dad is a retired WAC basketball Ref.

  39. NYUH December 22, 2008 9:32 am

Good, I like our away uniforms better anyway. As long as they keep them tucked in. I think they should move the logo to the front of the helmet though. It seems a little off balance on the side of the helmet and I’ve seen some of the helmets in practice have them in front.

This game is big!! Go Warriors! Hope Obama shows up!

  40. roysan16 December 22, 2008 9:34 am

    Good Morning.

Obama’s choice of golfing at Olomana was peculiar. This I didn’t understand. With the Mid Pac and Kaneohe MCAS courses nearby it was surprising to see him at Olomana. Compared to the other mentioned courses, and even Hickam, and not meaning to slight Olomana but Olomanas the hamburger next to the Mid Pac, Kaneohe MCAS and Hickam courses, which I would rate as prime cuts. Personally I would have selected the Kaneohe MCAS course, which is a lot more challenging and has panoramic views of the ocean.

If I were to type set the future President and graph his tendencies it wouldn’t be so far fetch seeing him, speaking facetiously of course, at the Warrior game against Not re Dame sitting in the “North End zone”.

About the great article ST did today featuring an interview with the coaches about the offensive line I think is long overdue. However embarrassing it is to the coaches and players to have writers and interviewers admonishing and bringing to attention of the poor play of the offensive line will only serve and inspire the offensive line players and coaches to get collectively better in the future, especially for the reserves and recruits they can see this as an opportunity to fill this void. Personally, if I was a member of the OL I would be mad as hell with so much flak about being the catalyst that if was the standout player of the unit I would shake the players around me and grab them by the ears and will them to get better. I think one of the coaches has to tell the leader of the group, Estes, that peer pressure applied to his other team mates would have “the greatest impact”. When Coach Jones alluded as Colt as being like a coach on the field it made our team better, like wise we need someone on the OL to act as a coach on the field, too, in yielding better results.

Lastly, about last years remnants of potato chips l threw up in the air along with my arms and dreams of the Wariors beating Georgia in the Sugar Bowl, I pray this year that the potato chips find it’s rightful place, my arms remain at my side, and I’m smiling and all my dreams are coming true as I’m watching the Warriors beat Not re Dame.

Continued Best Holiday Wishes to all.

d1 – Thai Village is not bad. If they only had a buffet!

  46. Kazz December 22, 2008 10:16 am

ND will come out and will seem more fired up than UH.

ND has a decent opening drive but Jimmy C succumbs to the pressure of our front seven and throws a pick to end their opening drive.

UH goes up 14-3 into the half. GA has not been sacked yet.

Start of the 3rd. ND comes out swinging, but UH defense settles in. GA is sacked twice, but the offense finds a way to score. UH leads ND 21-13 going into the 4th.

4th quarter is a defensive stalemate with GA taking two more sacks and Jimmy C not doing so well either as he has thrown 3 picks so far in this game. However, all game long UH has not given up a big play to ND, but that doesn’t last long as UH’s lead gets cut down to 21-20 with a failure on ND to get the two point conversion.

Dying moments ND attempts an on-side kick and UH recovers. Final score 28-20 UH.

So much for watching the game, Kazz already spilled the beans.

I can see it now… over 60+ boys clad in blue and gold… all lined up on the turf… “sleeping”…

“Sleeping” – defined as being knocked out due to arrogance. Previously enforced by David Veikune upon a New Mexico State Aggie. That NMSU player went to “sleep” for a few minutes before being carried off the field.

  52. Kelli December 22, 2008 10:34 am

Good morning! I ran into some UH and Notre Dame players in Waiks last Saturday. Hopefully they’re stimulating the economy. What a shocker and reality check of how much tourism is down. Waikiki looked pretty empty for a Saturday night.

  53. lava December 22, 2008 10:36 am

I hope the guy or gal in charge of approving credits is on the ball and looking at the JUCO players’ classes. This is late December, and these kids want to enroll in time for January classes. Timing is everything! Attending to these matters is a top priority. If the folks tending to Ching Field could work yesterday (Sunday) on the new turf, which they did, I hope the folks tending to these JUCO recruits are equally committed in completing the approval process.

  56. Kekoa December 22, 2008 10:40 am

Homey ~ We can always ask the owners of Thai village to set one Buffet up just for us. Pick what you think would have general appeal, and see if they can work a reasonal price between $15 ~ $20 bucks.

El Mariachi is willing to work with us to provide one for $15. They don’t ordinarily have a buffet. Bay View negotiated a great spread for us for $15. We hold the power of the eating public in a down economy. We jez remind ’em what our Tsaiko Tsaying is:

Feed Them – and They will Come!

    OFF-SPORTS TOPIC:

Need a referral re car seat belts. We need to replace one of the seat belts now on our 1988 Toyota and the other one very shortly. I called our regular car repair guy, but he doesn’t do that kind of work. He told me to call the dealership.

When I checked with Servco, I was quoted $200 – $250 per belt not including labor depending upon the specific size of the car determined by the VIN.

That’s really a lot of money to spend on a 20-year-old car. I did a web search and found lots of possibilities there, but then there’s the installation issue as well as the shipping costs. Does anyone have any suggestions here for an installer on O`ahu other than the dealership?

BACK TO SPORTS: Again, don’t forget tomorrow night’s men’s basketball game – definitely payback time for last spring’s Bracketbuster loss.

Unfortunately, we won’t be able to make today’s women’s game because we have a 4 pm appointment for Saturn with the veterinarian, but we’ll be there tomorrow night with our Santa hats on. .

With respect to colors at Wednesday’s game – how about black or white if the Irirsh are going to green it up?

As usual, we’ll be recycling on Wednesday so if you have extra HI-5 cans & bottles, be sure to bring them along.

FANS TO WEAR UH COLORS FOR HAWAII BOWL

Since there was no press release, yet, I e-mailed John McNamara about what UH fans are encouraged to wear and he says:

Fans are encouraged to wear school colors. There is no white out planned.

Happy Holidays and enjoy the game.

Me, koakane, and James start early…koakane with his leaf blower cleaning out the cabana, James with his box of goodies, and me warming up the picnic tables. Then comes myki and sjmacro with more boxes of goodies and their squeegee to make sure all the water is removed from the cabana. Next up is usually Ralph with his mini handtruck loaded with more goodies. Ralph is now our official meat partitioner. Just give him the knife.

    Too bad about Sofele…

One of the best players in the state has figured out where he will play his college football.

Isi Sofele, the Cottonwood running back, and the Tribune’s Class 4A MVP, has orally committed to the University of California, according to his high school coach, Cecil Thomas.

With the commitment, Sofele becomes one of the only Utah players in the class of 2009 to pledge with an out of state school.

Sofele chose Cal over SMU, Washington State and Hawaii, Thomas said.

Whoa, easy your Holiness, put that lightning bolt away, Stretch was only joking.

  94. homey December 22, 2008 1:20 pm

BG – I would laugh but one time I hurt my back putting my seatbelt on. yeah yeah, bring on those “because you were too short to reach the belt that’s why you strained your back” comments…

  95. homey December 22, 2008 1:22 pm

I bet some of those Notre Dames players peed in their pants after the Ha’a was pau. Wish I was there to see it!

  96. bigHilofan2 December 22, 2008 1:24 pm

Notre Dame is coming to play football. Their players want to save their coach’s okole. I expect them to play reallly really hard!

But aggression is key. Like today, went to Ching Cooke Field Complex. Took da piccha at centerfield with my favorite Irish Green T shirt. 😀

Now I gotta figure out how to crop the pikcha and send it to Hustler magazine. 😀 Fo sure da pix going rule up da Irish. 😆

Jimmy D got a good laugh.

Hamocon is doing a super job on the field. still got details to go, but da braddah is going full blast!

  97. homey December 22, 2008 1:25 pm

The Ha’a at the banquet must have been a chicken skin moment. For those not in the know, goose bump or chills moment.

  98. BG December 22, 2008 1:25 pm

    Homey/Stretch

What?!! Surprised? You forget that I’m an ex-senior NCO. Wore a groove around the block and chewed butts for a living…uh, easy on the visual…

  99. Stephen Tsai December 22, 2008 1:26 pm

They said Keala Watson was going crazy. He had them all stirred up.

  100. chawan_cut December 22, 2008 1:27 pm

bobby curran was talkin bout the banquet last night. he said it was pretty lively with the irish chanting “Rain-bows” and our WARRIORS going nuts with the ha’a. he said it was good that there were a few rows of cushion tables between the teams.

  101. chawan_cut December 22, 2008 1:29 pm

    2 more days!

  102. homey December 22, 2008 1:29 pm

ST – I can picture Keala’s face! That buggah reminds me of Randal “Tex” Cobb.

  103. Jon December 22, 2008 1:40 pm

Why are we always the visiting team at the Hawaii Bowl. Shouldn’t we get to be the home team sometimes?

  104. mano1 December 22, 2008 1:51 pm

Eh, One Paddle Two Paddle…la la la la la….Hope they pass out Thunder Sticks (green or white) so I have a paddle to paddle with….or going look funny. Go Warriors….Haa is just a warm up….make the little green people give up their pot of gold….follow the rainbow Warriors!

  105. d1島 December 22, 2008 2:00 pm

  106. TChahng [Aiea] December 22, 2008 2:10 pm

    Aloha Tsai-Kos! Go Warriors!

It looks like the boys are are getting metally pump for the game. Hopefully they bring this type of intensity to the game.

  111. XxFaithxX December 22, 2008 2:33 pm

The game is going to be nutz…. I guess you can say…”Its on like Donkey Kong”….

Some one please have a video clip of the banquet Ha’a….THAT would be cherry.

  112. homey December 22, 2008 2:37 pm

    bhf2 – do you have a photo/picture editor?

  113. J-Dog December 22, 2008 2:58 pm

I would think that the marketing dept at UH would let Warrior fans know which of the 3 colors we should wear. It should at least be coordinated when playing a team like Notre Dame that also holds green as a school color.

Even though Hawaii fans aren’t as coordinated as some schools on the mainland, I thought the Cincy game with the half green/white looked awesome. Shows what can happen when UH gets the word out.

  114. d1島 December 22, 2008 3:31 pm

    J-Dog,

Maybe erryboddy can trade shirts and reverse ’em! 😉

  115. bigHilofan2 December 22, 2008 3:35 pm

    homey

maybe. is that what it says on the screen, photo/picture editor?

  116. homey December 22, 2008 3:41 pm

bhf2 – if you have microsoft office picture manager you should be able to edit/crop pictures. If not then I can send you a picture of me that you can send to Hustler.

First of all, do you have Microsoft Office?

  117. 808flowmaster December 22, 2008 3:41 pm

Buti groove, of the infamous “Huck the Fuskies” and “Buck Foise” shirts, is selling a “Notre Lame” shirt. I’ll stick to my good luck black “vintage” (the more puka’s get, the more vintage it is) Warriors shirt. I wonder if Notre Dame has asked their fans to wear anything in particular? Do we know what jersey color the Irish and Warriors will be wearing?

  118. Stephen Tsai December 22, 2008 3:42 pm

    Jon:
The rule is the home team has to sit across from the announcer’s box. Because the sun burns brightly on that side, UH — wink, wink — agreed to be the visitors.

  119. Kelli December 22, 2008 3:42 pm

d1島: Haha! I guess I’m too lazy to type.

  120. jojo ® December 22, 2008 3:42 pm

  121. homey December 22, 2008 3:43 pm

  122. J-Dog December 22, 2008 3:43 pm

I wonder who will lead the ha’a next season.

  123. Kazz December 22, 2008 3:46 pm

    KA TOA!!!!!

  124. d1島 December 22, 2008 3:49 pm

I wonder who will lead the ha’a next season.

    My vote is for Kazz!

OK…a collective finger cross, please. They are re-boarding the plane now in PDX (after 32 hours of waiting at the airport)
I would guess that Flt 39 to Kahului is doing the same…

  125. Kazz December 22, 2008 3:51 pm

    J-Dog:

    December 22nd, 2008 at 3:43 pm
I wonder who will lead the ha’a next season.

    I nominate Brett Symonds.

He can be brought out to the field like Tommy Davidson’s character was in Ace Ventura 2. Symonds can be brought out to the field in a backpack-type thing that is attached to Aaron Kia.

  126. Kazz December 22, 2008 3:52 pm

Seriously speaking tho… the tradition of the ha’a seems to be changed from year to year, but I’d like to see Aaron Kia lead the way in 2009.

  127. Kekoa December 22, 2008 3:53 pm

808flowmaster ~ I would imagine the Warriors will come out in their dark foreboding Green and make Notre Lame turn Kelly green with envy.

No matter, Notre Lame going be black ‘n blue aftah da game anywayz!

  128. Kekoa December 22, 2008 4:01 pm

D-1 ~ Call the evil twins and let them ‘aim’ their Mojo Magic hand signals toward the friendly skies of America.

Too bad he nevah know was goin’ be big delay. Could have sold Li Hing Mui packets, or crackseed to the other strandees. Then open the rolling cooler full of beverages to quench that thrist.

Plus, what would you pay for 2 hrs on an air mattress and a bed roll.

  129. wafan December 22, 2008 4:04 pm

Dang! Power is finally back on. Yahooooo!

No one has any video of the banquet Ha’a and the Irish Rainbow chant?

Maybe they were chanting for the pot ‘o gold at the end of the rainbow. Too bad the Warriors will karang their ‘alas!

  130. wafan December 22, 2008 4:06 pm

    d1 . . .

Did he get off the ground?

Aside of a huge plate lunch, or Mom’s home cooking, one of the first things #2 will want is a nice hot shower and a bed.

    Hoping for a safe flight!

  131. d1島 December 22, 2008 4:21 pm

    Kekoa/wafan,
He called about an hour ago to say they’d be boarding soon. I’m hoping that silence is golden and that they are, or will soon be airborne. Checking the HA flight tracker and no change in status yet….

  132. J-Dog December 22, 2008 4:24 pm

Any word on the ticket sales yet?? I hope the game gets sold out.

  133. wafan December 22, 2008 4:24 pm

    Hmmmm, Kekoa and Stretch.

Is there a movie like that? Oh, wait. That was Lilo and Stitch.

  139. oxymoron December 22, 2008 4:47 pm

forgive me for going off topic a little, but the only thing more lame than “notre lame” is Angel Teves’ version of “Have yourself a merry little Christmas”, which KSSK plays now and again. Now THAT is brutal!

  140. Kazz December 22, 2008 5:16 pm

    RE: Notre Lame Shirt

Ummm.. I’d rather buy a green “BEAT NOTRE DAME” shirt.

  142. djmitcho December 22, 2008 5:25 pm

Wow, da mall was nutz. Traffic was even mo nutz. So I go to the mall to finish my christmas shopping and I walk into Champs Sports just to “look”. I see they have a big stack of college hoodies on sale. I look at the stack and see 3 different Boise hoodies. I think to myself that sucks. I look on the other side and lo and behold UH hoodies in 3 different colors. So of course, I had to go over my spending budget because I need to buy one for myself. I wanted a green one, but neva have the right size. So I got a black one. It’s a pretty nice hoodie. And it’s warm. I guess I got something new to wear on Christmas eve during the game.

  143. Ralph December 22, 2008 5:29 pm

  164. PIAA DS December 22, 2008 7:43 pm

Hi guys, I know I’ve been MIA lately, just really busy during recruiting season.

Kekoa, just wanted to say thanks again for the Office Max card. We put it to great use, things we desperately needed plus purchasing 100’s of DVD-R’s for duplicating video for many of the local kids who could not afford duplicating their DVD for the AFCA conference. Most of these athletes are the D1AA, D2 , D3, NAIA and JC players, whose video will be distributed to colleges who generally do not have the funding to come to Hawaii and recruit. So know that your $$ were well spent and put to good use!

Thanks again to all the tsaikotic tsaiko’s who helped out this summer with their generous donations.

Have a Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanza, Happy Haukkah and a safe New Years!

    Doris

    WHO IS YOUR ROLE MODEL???

Try it without looking at answers

    1) Pick your Favorite number between 1-9

    2) Multiply by 3 then

    3) Add 3, then again Multiply by 3 (I’ll wait while you get
    the calculator….)

    4) You’ll get a 2 or 3 digit number|.

    5) Add the digits together

Now look at the next post

  181. las vegas December 22, 2008 9:55 pm

Now with that number see who your ROLE MODEL
is from the list below :

    1. SteveM

    2. Frank Fasi

    5. Princess Leah

    6. AL

    7. DPK

    8. S.Tsai

    9. Mr.Las Vegas!

    10. Barack Obama

I know….I just have that effect on people….

one day you too can be like me…. 🙂 Believe it!

    Ps. Stop picking different numbers.

    Mele Kalikimaka Doris Sullivan!

More parents are recognizing the work that you do. Thank God there are people like you who dedicate the better part of their life to working to help young people reach for the stars.

Without your help paving the way thru all of the obstacles in making it to the next level, they would waste time and money for naught.

Count on my continued support for your association. It’s an honor and a privlidge to help you. It’s amazing to see the results on the field and in the class room.

    Malama Pono,
    Kekoa

  189. Kekoa December 22, 2008 11:44 pm

It’ll be ok big mac, they’ll be fine. It’s just a little piss water, and that’s no biggee!

The motivation will be the ND lame attempt at humiliating them with the “Rainbow” rant-chant. This is why I personally wish we could bury that word once and for all.

However, common sense says it will be around forever. It belongs to other sporting teams of the university, therefore we are stuck with it. We have to let the Warriors deal with it as a motivating factor in their world of physical violence. And pound puppies anytime it’s used against us.

Those who wish to taunt us with it should be made to pay!…and pay dearly!

  193. Capitol -ist/WassupDoc December 23, 2008 12:02 am

On Sunday, January 11, from 5 pm to 7 pm, once again DrDoc and I are in charge of providing fun & fuud at Nu`uanu Congregational Church for the Family Promise Program on the Pali Highway about two blocks after the Wyllie Street overpass.

Tsai-kos are invited to attend and to take part in the activities – games for children & youth, crafts, and talk story time – as well as stay for dinner.

NOTE: We’ll be inside this time around – probably in the gymnasium.

Games & other activities start at 5 pm & dinner will be served at 6 pm. The menu is Portuguese Bean Soup, Kitchen Sink Salad, cornbread, and a dessert yet to be determined.

If you’re not familiar with it, the Family Promise Program is a boots-on-the-ground homeless services program. A wide range of faith-based organizations across the religious spectrum provide food and shelter for up to 14 adults & children for one week at a time four times a year. Other churches & temples step in to prepare the evening meals.

The Program provides homeless families with transitional shelter, training & employment services, transportation, childcare, and, over time, helps each family secure safe, affordable long-term housing with security deposits and furniture & household goods if needed.

Finding affordable housing is a real challenge here in Hawai`i. On the continent, the average Family Promise client is in the program for about six weeks; here in Hawai`i, many families stay in the program for as long as six months.

Currently, there is one network in Windward O`ahu and another in urban Honolulu. More than 60 faith-based groups are involved here on O`ahu.

If you would like to attend, please send an e-mail to swood at hokudotcom. There is no charge except for a couple of hours of your time.

Got back a little while ago with #2 son! 😀
    34 hours at PDX! 😯
He says his wasn’t the worst story; another student was at the airport since FRIDAY!
There was actually more than a dozen of them there. They had a good time actually.
    Ahhh…the resilience of youth!

Anyway, thanks for all the well wishes!

Congrats Kama Krab! See you on Wednesday!
Btw, the real generous one is Stretch….

    Lo-o-o-o-ng day!
    Oyasumina-tsai…..

  197. al December 23, 2008 12:26 am

very glad that numero dos finally got home safely.
ahh. so what will mama be cooking for his first meal back home???

  198. al December 23, 2008 12:30 am

gee. i was wondering. but, now i am wondering if mr. tsai is about or not?

so which uniform will the team be wearing since we are the visiting team?
    white jerseys and green pants?

white jerseys and black pants would look tough. that combo would recruit a player or two by itself.

and finally, are we done recruiting now? or do we just hold okole until feb 4th? or are we really saving a scholie or two for some bigtime recruit who may just fall our way?

    nite liz.

why is it that when i see your blog name i am constantly reminded of hamura saimin?
sitting on the counter, slurping my extra large won ton min, two bbq chicken sticks, two bbq meat sticks, and finish with a lilikoi chiffon pie.

    oh my.

  201. al December 23, 2008 12:42 am

hey, i made #200. did i win tickets????

  202. Lopaka43 December 23, 2008 12:46 am

    Aloha, Tsaiko Ohana!!

I’ve been catching up on the blog because I’ve been under the weather for the last few days and haven’t been lurking as usual.

Looking forward to the game against Notre Dame. A real opportunity to make a statement about our program to a national audience.

It has been interesting reading the comments on some of the other blogs I regularly review. Notre Dame fans are really not supporting their team. The contrast between the ohana feeling surrounding Coach Mack and the Warriors and what the Notre Dame team and coaches are experiencing is amazing.

With fans like Notre Dame’s, who needs enemies?? To see what I mean, visit the South Bend Tribune Dec. 21 story on Notre Dame’s quarterback and read some of the comments the ND fans are making about their coach and the starting quarterback, Jimmy Clausen

For example, the first comment says that it is “definitely time for the prima donna egomaniac quarterback to step up. Whether his less than stellar performance is due to Charlie Weis’ play calling or his own inability to read defenses, it is time for the much heralded quarterback to put up or shut up. And while he is at it he needs to be focused and committed and less casual and indifferent. Notre Dame endured a lot of grief recruiting him because most experts thought he was overrated and overhyped…now it is time to prove them wrong and an attitude change certainly wont hurt either”

    Go Warriors!!

  203. Ralph December 23, 2008 1:14 am

off topic anyone seen the cal state university at los angeles campus, any idea what the community and surrounding area is like?…daughter graduated from UH west oahu on friday and now its time to apply for graduate school……she was born the same year our beloved robert Kekaula started UH in 1987 but she graduated one day before him from college.LOL..

  204. Ralph December 23, 2008 2:18 am

all quiet before the storm…..one more day before we take on ND and its all quiet in tsaikoland…not even Esme and JM2375 are with us (I’m sure there are lurkers out there)…so much pent up energies ready to explode-just need bighilo to give us the word from Waikiki to hoot and holler..

Good morning Tsaikos. Good to hear that both teams will be up for the game, so no excuses.

know the mainland gang is freezing their butts, but tomorrow they get some relief by watching the Warriors beat ND.

  209. Kekoa December 23, 2008 6:31 am

    Good Morning Tsaiko’s!

Once my BHF2 alarm went off, I couldn’t go back sleep, so may as well stay up, have some coffee, and read da pepa. Checked to see who and who got arrested. Surprisingly, there was no mention of BHF2 being implicated with any assaults, DUI, or Leprechuan abuse.

Looking forward to hearing my bradda “matriculating his melodius voice” as he claims he is able to do. It could very well sound like that if Pride is on the mic with him.

    Great Morning All!

Not enuf sleep after a long day of watching flight schedules and PNW weather reports but gotta get back to work this morning.

It’s the last walk-thru for the Seniors today then one last night together with their brothers. Like Bulla always says, “Make memories.”

Tomorrow, they get to make some truly life-long memories and go out on a huge high – a “W” over the most storied program in CFB.

    GO WARRIORS!

  215. Kekoa December 23, 2008 6:46 am

D-1 ~ Any plans for going to breakfast with nummer Zwo Kinder bis morgen?

Sizzler’s in Waipahu serves a pretty mean all-you-can-Re-Tsaiko breakfast in case dat boy has 32 of 34 hours of eating to catch-up on. I figger it took him about 2 hours to grind at Zippy’s in Waipio last night. Hehehe…I know he and bradda can consume!

  216. d1島 December 23, 2008 6:49 am

    wafan,

    Howzit.
Thanks again for the suggestions and offers of assistance.
I guess you guys get a little break today before another storm comes rolling in. 🙁
I heard a report that they’ll be working thru Xmas to get the backlogged passengers outta SEA-TAC. Hope things clear up before you hit the skies.

  217. d1島 December 23, 2008 6:55 am

    Kekoa,

Mrs. d1島 was finishing up a spread that would make “Tell Ma” jealous when we got back so #2 was well-fed last night.
He’s still crashed and I expect he’ll be that way for awhile still.

I normally don’t bother with the lei greeting when they come back from school but I figured last night might be a good time to break from “tradition” since I was greeting him after 40 hours of travel!
The lady at the lei stand asked me if I was looking for something that would last a long time or something that smelled good…I opted for lots of smell good! 😆

  218. d1島 December 23, 2008 6:56 am

Have a great Christmas Eve-eve erryboddy!

    HiHo….

  219. wafan December 23, 2008 7:00 am

    d1 . . .

No problem. I was worried #2 was stuck at PDX. Nothing worse than being completely alone with a bunch of strangers. At least he was warm!

The weather will moderate starting today with the high’s getting up to the mid-30’s. Still, though, at night things will freeze solid well below 30. I figured it would be safer to drive up to SEA tomorrow afternoon, stay at a motel, and catch my flight out on Christmas Day. I can take my time driving up on the long and winding ice-rink called I-5.

Reports from SEA indicate the backlog from the cancelled Alaska and Horizon flights is dwindling. As long as they keep flying I should be okay. Makes for full planes and long lines, though. Hopefully, people will be in a good mood because it is Christmas Day.

dj leaves SEA on the 30th. The weather should be back to normal by then — I hope! And, the remaining ice and compact snow should be all gone.

  221. wafan December 23, 2008 7:06 am

One habit that stuck with me from Mom is to always travel with handi-wipes. Good to clean hands and face. And, when stuck at the airport can at least clean up a little bit. So there is no need for a florally odiferous lei to mask any maloderous smells.

On the other hand, if I were a proud parent I would probably done the same thing.

  222. Kekoa December 23, 2008 7:12 am

Walk thru for the Warriors today is going to be a time for reflection for all the seniors. For most, it will be the very last time they ever strap on the pads. For the few who will go to the next level, it’ll be their time to prepare themselves to move on to the big show.

The Warriors will have a huge opportunity to showcase their true talent on a National stage. With the advent of global commuincations, our local members of the Armed Forces around the world will also be tuning in.

So guys, remember that you are representing the entire State of Hawaii, and the proud Hawaiian Warriors stationed around the globe helping you to Protect Da Hale!

Give them all good reason to celebrate and be Proud…be…
    “Haa’heo O Hawa’ii!”

Beat Notre Dame!…Beat Notre Dame!…Beat Notre Dam!

    GO WARRIORS!

wafan – check da websites for prices. Neva know what it’s gonna be like during da summer. I think the longer the trip, the more it favors using the ferry. SuperFerry much less hassle but takes longer. Comfort of using your own car, can take more stuff, Ferry more comfy than plane.

  257. Kekoa December 23, 2008 10:15 am

Howzit ‘Go Warriors!’ Going be fun for you to answer to that blog handle. Every time someone says ‘Go Warriors’ you going flinch!

Regarding your fashion ensemble for the Hawaii Bowl. Take everything Kazz sez with a grain of Hawaiian salt. Kazz tends to get very excited about his Warriors.

So Go Warriors if he sed “wear white” – jez take green kalah crayon in case you gotta change ‘um.

    Go Warriors

  261. Hannibal December 29, 2008 1:03 pm

Notre Dame did their homework because they did the same thing Cincinnati did to win their game by blitzing a quarterback who doesn’t know when a blitz is coming. If two defensive players are blitzing that means two recievers are open and all they have to do is run a short route or pattern since they are both open. The coach also should give a harsher punishment for players who do “dumb penalties” especially when the penalty kills a drive. You don’t see these kinds penalties on BCS teams which means they are more disciplined and afraid of their coach to do such penalties. There’s a big difference between respect and afraid of their coach. Just a suggestion for next year.
