Making up for lost time

Indeed, it was a chicken-skin comeback for Tyler Graunke, whose experience (more than four years in this system) meant more than his practice time (three full workouts this season).
It also was the breakout game — actually, 30 minutes — for Aaron Bain, Mike Washington, Greg Salas and Malcolm Lane.
While the Warriors have eight new starters on offense, this is an experienced unit. As the understudies to Ryan Grice-Mullins and Davone Bess, Bain and Washington never redshirted. They are now seniors. And, as Graunke correctly pointed out, they have waited for a long time to prove they deserved more playing time in previous seasons.
Lane and Salas also have been waiting. So much that Salas refuses to be held back despite a fracture in the ring finger of his left hand.
Salas said the finger is sore, but “I’m not going to think about it while I’m on the field. I’ll take some Advil before the game.”
Graunke said: “Because we have eight new guys on offense, people don’t think we can play like we know what we’re doing. But we know what we’re doing.”

* * *

Brashton Satele is fulfilling his promise as a big-hitting middle linebacker. And Solomon Elimimian is showing he has hte speed and skills to play on the outside. With Adam Leonard doing well at the other outside position, the Warriors will be faced with an interesting decision when Blaze Soares is ready to return.

What is the timeline for Blaze? He could be used like Brad Kalilimoku was in the rotation of LB’s. All of the boys can start Adam, Brashton, Sol, and Blaze, I would say R.J. too. Anyway, I hope Blaze can remain healthy once he’s healed that guy plays with a lot of passion! Everytime he unloads on people I can feel the hit in my living room watching the game…OUCH!!!

Don’t know if you heard the play by play last night, but papa is really making a lot of mistakes. At the start of the second qtr, he said 4th qtr. Called Higgins Curt once or twice….and on and on…But, it’s good to listen to his extensive vocabulary

If the Warriors can get away without using Blount, they would prefer that.
They want to redshirt as many JC guys as possible to maximize their stay here. There are alot of seniors. They’re thinking of the future, too.

and da game whoootahhhhhhhhhh. glad team woke up and put out better effort in half #2. defense turn up the burner and had a complete turn around. shourt out to da two local private school might mights. they added much to the running game when needed (damien and kamehameha represented). congrats to tyler for picking up the slack for the offense. he was the spark the team needed. improved somewhat from last week but still a way to go if they are going to protecting their WAC crown.

wstate but up a terrific battle that had UH on da ropes for one half. my aloha to da coaches and the team. they were up to da challenge. very impress with this team, they will go far in their league. what can you say about da beast. da bruddah get one motor that never quits. watched him and at times out quicked some oline and was always going side line to side line making play. st. louis well rep by beast and da QB. again good job wildcats. high compliment by pride when he told me if he had a kid he would not hesitate in sending him to Weber state.

I guess everybody is watching the J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets.
Davone Bess had a nice catch for the Dolphins. He also was the diversion in the touchdown pass. Good unselfish job.
And Samson Satele recovered a fumble.

Before I get all wrapped around the axle with the re-hash of last night’s little wrasslin’ match at the Rust Bucket…I just wanted to remind everyone of one thing.

It was Aunty Liz who stood by her statement when she said time and again, “In Tyler we trust!”…and who, disguised as mild mannered reporterette-in-waiting for the almighty Warrior Beat…fights a never ending battle for Truth, Justice and the Tsaiko Way!

Happy Birthday Wena & Stephen by extension or is it yours as well? DrDoc and I used to split the difference – I’m the 7th and he’s the 9th in the Month of the Scales of Justice so we used to celebrate on the 8h. Now of course we’re too old to fool around with that sort of stuff.

Re last night’s game – our new south end zone seats really suck. We forgot the radio so even with binoculars, we had a terrible time trying to figure out what was going on. If we cannot do better next season, then we’ll watch the games on PPV in a bar somewhere. We were one aisle away from the walkway between the middle section and the end section.
We also forgot the ponchos. Dumb and dumber – especially given my cold.

Much credit must be given to Tyler for last night’s comeback victory.

I wonder why the Weber State coaching staff decided NOT to blitz their outside linebackers in the 2nd half. It was so successful in the first half. Once our tackles committed to helping double-team the DEs, the OLBers would blitz and almost always got to Funaki. This, IMHO, was the most critical factor in limiting Funaki’s effectiveness. Given time, he was able to complete several long passes in the first quarter.

  32. KG September 7, 2008 10:18 am

ST…any chance you could write and article on how to cheer appropriately?

Hawaii fans are so unique (and no, I’m not addressing the Tsaikos)…the fans cheer the loudest when our offense is trying to make play calls and have some nerve boo’ing student athletes off the field. One thing I learned in my lifetime as an athlete and coach’s daughter was the only people on the field that it was acceptable to boo were the officials. It’s kind of like honking…it’s just rude.

But back to the cheering, the crowd needs to realize how much they can bring to team. I know their excited when the offense is on the field, but let them get the play called for heaven’s sake. And when the team is down, don’t get quiet, that’s the time for fans to pump some excitement into game. When I look around the stadium in my area and I’m the only one chanting “DE-FENSE”, I get so discouraged…think of how the kids on the field feel who are giving it their all and not getting anything from the crowd. Ugh, it’s so frustrating! We HAVE to cheer them through the bad times too! Anyway, if you could get the word out with a well written, inspirational article, I am sure I am not the only one out there that hopes one-day all of those in Aloha Stadium will get it together.

To Capitol-ist/WassupDoc…don’t think the seats at home are any better, some of the camera work last night was like watching the Blair Witch Project. (I recorded it and was getting nauseous)

Anyway, great to see Inoke and Tyler play!

the beast done good, he is happy, made some plays…and still healthy. mahalo again.

  38. Kekoa (Survivor-WB) September 7, 2008 10:35 am

Coach Bulla, I want you to know that Pops was very impressed with the play of the young “Snow Beast.” He had a chance to register his assessment of Ryan’s performance with ST & Pride after the game.

It meant a lot to me personally to see my dad watch this game with the keen interest that he exhibited last night. I could see the years rewind in his eyes. I knew that for that brief moment he was transported back many years ago – when he attended games with my mom and watched an excited son leave it all out on the field of play.

Pops has made a remarkable recovery from the natural evolution that old age brings, and the darkness that clouds one’s memory. Yes, todays medications continues to play an important part of his life. But, his interest in football has played a major part of that long road back. Hangin’ with the Tsaiko’s helps him maintain that vital reality check we all depend on to make it thru life.

He told me this morning that he wanted to express his appreciation to the Tsaiko’s for what he felt was a guiding force in bringing him back into the light. He reads the blog over my shoulder sometimes, so he knows what an important medium it is to express ones passion for sports…or just plain making a statement.

So, on behalf of my dad, I want to sincerely thank you all for contributing to his recovery.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programing and more football!

    Mahalo,
    Kekoa

    re: our seats

Also sitting in the South EZ in the Blue. Mrs.d1島 is happy that we are surrounded by “non-objectionable” types. This was her greatest fear for us getting season tix for the first time. In fact, we discovered a classmate of ours next to us and another Crusader Mom on the other side of them, so she is happy. Which means of course, I am happy. Whew! 🙂
But anyway, the view is good. Don’t think that there really is a bad seat in the house at the stadium.
WDoc, just make sure the radio is on the pre-flight checklist and all should be good.

  52. d1島: September 7, 2008 10:57 am

Did anyone else notice the “added dialogue” in the background of the radio broadcast? Even listening from in the stadium I could hear the caoches comments behind Bobby and Robert. Is there a divider between them like on the other end of the boxes?
I hope the coaches can keep the comments “clean”; I’d hate to have them put in the seven-second button 😉

  53. chawan_cut September 7, 2008 10:58 am

glad that all of you can still cover the game for us the way you do.

  54. Stephen Tsai September 7, 2008 10:59 am

    There’s a glass separating them, but I don’t believe it’s specially sound-proof.
Some of the rumbling in the background might have been the clock operators. The JumboTron clock malfunctioned, and they were trying to fix it. The operators are in the same booth as ESPN1420.

    Stephen,
During the halftime show with the “Animals” and Don Robbs they mentioned that there were some recent alumni down at the tunnel making “inspirational” comments to the team as they were leaving the field after the 1st half.
Along the lines of, “This is Weber St.! Wake the f**k up!”

d1 – I replied to your email on tickets

  68. Stretch September 7, 2008 11:18 am

I noticed that the defense gets the signal from Miano on the sidelines. Bad thing was that Weber was coming up the line of scrimmage while he was giving the signal. It doesn’t give much time for the guys to make adjustments. Lucky that they have enough time to get set before the snap of the ball. How come the call comes in so late??

  69. LizKauai (iPhone) September 7, 2008 11:18 am

The game brought back the excitement of the come-from-behind thrills of last year. I am praying that this experience will galvanize the team into that winning mentality unit we all know they can be.

From our seats in the lower rows of JJ yellow, we got to experience the good, bad and ugly of fandom. Lessons in sportsmanship definately in order!

  70. Stretch September 7, 2008 11:20 am

Sad to say but I think my whiteboard will have to put into retirement…

  71. LizKauai (iPhone) September 7, 2008 11:24 am

Looking forward to seeing the tv version of the game to see the faces of the players.
Bulla and Ohana have a lot to be proud of!

I wish the team would do the Ha’a when the game is pau. Or create something different if the Ha’a is not appropriate. I like to see fans stay to the end to appreciate the team- win or lose!

Mahalo to SteveM and Peaches for everything!

  72. pocketfullabudz September 7, 2008 11:28 am

yah that was Timo… Brad was there too.

    also saw Rocky’s shorts.

just reliving the 1st half on K5. –cringe–

  73. Garret September 7, 2008 11:29 am

For those complaining about the fans cheering at the wrong time, this might have been one of the reasons (from SportsHawaii):

    Vili still haven’t learned!

I can’t believe that his head is not in the game and is still urging the North endzone fans to scream loud when UH is on offense. Our whole section was pissed at him. He did it for two consecutive plays before stopping.

  74. chawan_cut September 7, 2008 11:30 am

    stretch,
what happened to the whiteboard? did the rain get to it? or was it deemed a dangerous weapon like umbrellas?

  75. Garret September 7, 2008 11:31 am

I know when I was at the SJSU game last year (and the other 3 times I went to UH games in San Jose) it really bothered me that UH fans would cheer when UH was on offense and be much quieter when UH was on D.

  76. Da Punchbowl Kid September 7, 2008 11:31 am

Yesterday was a day full of wonderful sights. it was great to see the Tsaiko ‘Ohana, some 80 or so strong out in force for the tailgate. People, if you aren’t a Tsaiko, lemme tell ya, it’s worth becomin’ one just for the tailgates! Great food, awesome folks and great fellowship. Pops Furtado was another great sight, bright eyed, bushy taled and regal in Kekoa’s “Hale ‘O Na Ali’i. I dare say, with him presiding, we had one of the best tailgates at the stadium.

The Wildcats were something to see as well, very talented and scrappy. As far as Ryan Eastman goes, we were ALL priveledged to watch this true freshman’s second college game. We saw him at the very beginning of what should be a stellar college career and he was just one of many great individual players on Weber St.’s team. I see the ‘Cats being dominant in their league.

It was also wonderful to see the Warriors click as individuals and as a team. We have known that they are a group with great potential, last night we saw some of that potential realized. They are going to be a very good team, and I believe next week we’ll see futher proof of that. If they continue on this curve, I say next week will be:

    35 – 21 Beavers be dammed!

    GO WARRIORS!!!

I agree about Vili, I can’t remember when it was during the game but he was in the endzone near the students making people cheer while the offense is on the field. My thoughts, “What an idiot”

    Stephen,
During the halftime show with the “Animals” and Don Robbs they mentioned that there were some recent alumni down at the tunnel making “inspirational” comments to the team as they were leaving the field after the 1st half.
Along the lines of, “This is Weber St.! Wake the f**k up!”

You’re right D1. We were sitting right behind the Warrior bench watching Michael Lafaele and Timo Paepule keep our troops motivated during the game. At one point toward the end of the 2nd quarter, I had to my hands over Koakane’s ears, because I knew that he wasn’t used to Lafaele’s extensive vocabulary that was used during a spirited speech to the defense.

    Hi, Gang,

Happy Birth-Day to the Mayor and First Lady of our blog. Is it really both your B-Days on the same day? Very nice and not exactly common.

Still in afterglow of first victory, was a scary situation there for awhile.

Reviewed the game tape again this morning and have to stick to my earlier assessment. The O-Line, in order to be effective, needs to have a fair amount of confidence to know where the QB will be. After that first drive, they never knew, most of the time, where Funaki was. He looked at one receiver for two seconds and then started running around.

Don’t get me wrong, I love this young man. He would be amazing in a standard spread offense. But Tyler gives us the experience and quick release you need in the R&S. That experience extends to his former second team mates and suddenly we have a ‘veteran’ unit playing the way they’re supposed to.

Like McMackin said, Tyler didn’t receive any help in his climb back to the team, he did it all on his own, so kudos to him. I’m glad that situation is settled. The second half, the Warriors became a team and will now get better with each game.

I still have a little bit of leftover anger for Tyler, he should have been there in Florida and it would have been a very different game. Oh well, water under the bridge. I’m looking only forward now.

    Hi, A-House family,

It was amazing meeting you all. Your force field of love and Aloha enveloped me like a cocoon and I had the distinct feeling of Christmas. Did you get my e-mail? Thank you so much again for all those presents you’ve brought all the way from Hawaii.

  83. Stretch September 7, 2008 11:40 am

Thanks to the Tsaikos who stopped by where I parked to bring me a birthday “cake” and sing. Pretty embarassing but very much appreciated. We could have picked a better place to stand rather than right in front of the porta-potties.

  84. Committed Road Warrior September 7, 2008 11:44 am

    Good day folks!

Just woke up and presumably have missed the entire first block of NFL games. The second block should be heading into halftime about now.

I was up until about 5am Pacific time watching the UH-Weber State game. As I referenced in yesterday’s post, since I have the Hawaii iPTV service, I had to wait until the live feed ended before I could go in and watch it. That meant I had to wait until ~12:45am or so Pacific time (9:45pm Hawaii time; not too long after the game really ended) to watch the game.

Got to look to Corvallis for next week and hope the team can regroup. I’ll wait for Pomai to update the predictions before I put in mine.

I just checked the box score for the Miami game and noticed that Bess had 1 punt return for 25 yards (the longest of the game for either team!) and 1 kickoff return for 21 yards (the longest of the game for either team!). He also had 1 catch for 8 yards.

I’m actually blogging during a business meeting in my home…when the others are talking about stuff then I’m trying to sneak in blog time. The stuff about taxes and accounting isn’t my expertise area so they don’t need me…

    ST,

Typo above “hte” when you talk about Sol’s speed. I agree that Brashton has done very well.

I remember the complaint about Florida’s stat crew in cheating Sol about tackles. But it looks to me that the UH stat crew credited Sol for 4 tackles in the Weber State game…so, as expected his tackles went down by moving to the outside LB spot. Still, showing he can play the outside spot also improves his chances for playing at the next level.

    Naaaaahhhhh. Just joking.

  108. Garret September 7, 2008 12:26 pm

    Pride,

LOL! My portion of the meeting was over and they were figuring out someone’s paycheck and how to categorize expenses on Quickbooks. I said that I “needed to work on the proposal due this week” and jumped on the blog! That accounting stuff is not that interesting to me and I couldn’t have helped them anyway.

I actually *did* write a good amount of a section for the proposal, so if anyone cared they could see that I was getting work done…

The good thing is that I’ve always wondered how it would feel to blog during a business meeting. And this was a perfect opportunity. The bad thing is that I wasn’t getting paid for this business meeting, even for the 2 hours that I was actually working.

  109. Garret September 7, 2008 12:27 pm

Note on Samson that I posted late on the last blog.

Miami’s best blocker? Center Samson Satele, Crowder said.

Jason Ferguson predicts Satele will be a Pro Bowler ”because you won’t find anyone more athletic playing center.”

Satele said Ferguson has taught him more than did ex-Dolphin Keith Traylor, ”who was doing his own thing.”

  115. Pride. September 7, 2008 12:41 pm

If the Warriors kick the PAT, the score would have been 28 to 17. That is still a one touchdown difference, a touchdown(6), two point conversion(2) and a field goal(3) for Weber state to tie the game at 28 all. With the two point conversion, it forces Weber State to make two touchdowns.

  116. LizKauai (iPhone) September 7, 2008 12:41 pm

IMHO the 2 point drill was good practice.

My scariest moments in the game were provide by #86. Then he came out after half time and practiced every shot from a half dozen spots on the field. Including the 50 yard line.

  121. Stretch September 7, 2008 12:48 pm

Pride – That is all good since Hawaii converted but if they didn’t, it would have been 10 – Weber could have scored the TD w/ 2 pt conversion and FG to win the game. If they just kicked the extra point, they would need to convert the 2 pt to tie.

  122. Long Time UH Fan September 7, 2008 12:48 pm

The score was UH 27 , WSU 17; if UH went for 1 pt conversion , the scoe would be 28-17; a difference of 11 points. WSU could score a TD and go for 2 pt conversion=8 pts and a FG =3 pts;. and tie the score.
Thus, they went for 2 pt conversion… IMO…

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is expected to miss the rest of the 2008 season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, according to a source familiar with the injury.

While New England coach Bill Belichick said in his postgame press conference that he had no update on the status of Brady’s injury, two sources indicated it involved serious damage to the knee.

“Back then, they were the Rainbows and we used to go to all the games. I loved the atmosphere and the way the Warriors played,” Higgins said. “I wanted to play for Hawaii, but I had to go wherever there would be a scholarship. Unfortunately, Hawaii didn’t offer me one.”

“In some ways, I want to show them, show that I could [have] played for the Warriors,” Higgins said. “There’s some kind of bitterness there.”

    Happy birthday Stephen and Wena!

Ah, the stupidity of some UH fans. How people make noise on offense and get quiet on defense annoys me so much; I told these two girls not to make noise on offense, and they continued doing it anyways. And then Vili making noise. And showing controversial plays on the JumboTron that could hurt UH — as Kekaula said, only in Hawai‘i. And the band playing while the offense is in the huddle (although that has more to do with the new 40-second clock).

Speaking of which, I hate the 40-second clock. It speeds up the game so much, I feel like the college atmosphere gets diminished. The band is going to have to start playing in shorter spurts. I feel like they aren’t as significant now.

But back to the noise. Seriously, if the cheerleaders can get NOISE signs, how about QUIET signs too? And how about notices on the JumboTron that say QUIET. And yes, some type of article in the papers and the news TV every year that outline fan conduct would be nice. I’m thinking Kelli and I should team together and get something in Ka Leo.

  147. BowsForever September 7, 2008 2:10 pm

The 2-point conversion HAD to have been practice by the coaching staff. Same as Dan Kelly’s otherwise inexplicable “pooch” kick early in the game. Never hurts to get game reps in, I guess.

Speaking of Kelly, I think the coaches might want to try some reverse psychology on him. Have him do a 40-or-so-yarder just for fun before the start of practice, and if he misses, THEN spring the surprise that the entire team has to run sudden change drills or whatever. He’s got NFL range for sure, but his consistency was off last night.

  148. BowsForever September 7, 2008 2:12 pm

Oh yeah, about the get loud only when we’re on defense thing. Maybe Coach Mack can do a “PSA” announcement to educate Vili and the fans.

  151. Dennis Halloran September 7, 2008 2:32 pm

The way to get fans to cheer correctly is to have YELL leaders. I did that in College and HS. There are very few places that still have YELL Leaders. SC, UCLA Texas A & M are obvious examples. Its been 50 years ago for me but I could still rile up a crowd!

  152. Dennis Halloran September 7, 2008 2:40 pm

Nevada’s Leading Rusher, Luke Lippincott is out for the year!

  153. Garret September 7, 2008 2:42 pm

Considering that Oregon State has NOT looked good to me in either of their games, I’m shocked that Vegas Insider has UH as a 14.5 point underdog! If I was in Vegas I would take those odds…

  154. BowsForever September 7, 2008 2:57 pm

Sorry to hear about Lippincott, though that of course is “good news” for UH. Lippincott and Kaepernick are one heck of a one-two punch.

If the O-line and D from the Florida game show up for Oregon State, I’d say the stage is set for a UH win. If we get the “second quarter” Warriors from yesterday, it could get a lot uglier than -14.5. From the first two games it looks like their QB (Moevao) loves to throw, so we’d better be ready for the aerial assault. For a while it was all “Death by Slants” for Weber State, and I wonder if Oregon State isn’t thinking about a way to exploit that.

    Aloha to the Ohana!

The good was so onolicious, but the friends were even better! I had to warn Betty to slow down on the oysters! Homey, they were so sinfully good. A-Sports coffee cake was even better this morning when I warmed it up to go with my coffee. Kazz’s friends efforts with the ribs and sausage were superb. How thoughtful were Garret’s parents in coming early to drop off the homemade inari sushi…great people.

Great idea to get there around 11-12. Set-up, relax and plenty time to eat lunch AND dinner. The fuud kept coming in all afternoon, but, I noticed that there really wasn’t that much left over at the end! LOL Tsaikos strike again!

“You heard it here first” bulletin: My apologies for the first game mix-up at the security gate. I had forgotten that the reservations were put in my friend’s name (he was with me when I went down to the reservations office) and so the guard didn’t have my name. We got that resolved early and I told him that from now on our private password was going to be “xxxxx” (gotta get it from Kazz). Wayne (the security guy) said, “Shoots, garans.” And I heard that the folks who conducted the “post-game analysis” at the site weren’t bothered by security at all. The Tsaiko name keeps spreading!

  164. BG September 7, 2008 3:37 pm

    MORE ABOUT THE T-GATE

Well, I did open my big mouth and tell the Tom, of the Boyd guys, that:
    1) Be expecting us because we’re going to fly over next year in our charter jet
    2) We needed a space big enough to practice the Ha’a
    3) And we’re going to do a flash card sequence too, so we needed a big block of tickets in one section.

Yes, I’m dreaming it, folks. And I need the Tsaiko Ohana to help cash the check that my mouth wrote. I just firmly believe that 250 Tsaikos will want to fly together (5 hr pre-Tsaiko-gate!) and stay in the same hotel. And that 100-200 more Tsaiko’s on the mainland will join up to have the kind of fun weekend that should be illegal 😀

HAPPY BIRTHDAYS TO ST AND WENA

Life is very good when you’re with people you love and doing things that give you meaning.

Weah everybody stay? Must be finally resting from yesterday and this morning’s replay.

    Hello, BG.

  168. d1島: September 7, 2008 3:47 pm

    Hi BG.

    Just kinda lurking.

As always, we appreciate your efforts at arranging Tsaiko events.
    LV dream sounds great!

  169. BowsForever September 7, 2008 3:55 pm

Btw, anyone know if there’s gonna be a “re-re-broadcast” of the game later today? Missed the one in the morning. Oh well, I guess there’s always highlight reels and the Coach Mack show. I did get to see a highlight of that awesome 42-yd Graunke-Lane touchdown play.

  170. BG September 7, 2008 3:57 pm

    About the game…

I thought it was awesome last night…it definitely wasn’t a boring, uninteresting game! Got to see the competitiveness of the W-State boys and their excellent talent and teamwork. They weren’t about to be intimidated by a D-1 team and they fought tooth and nail. Kudos to them and their coaching staff. They seemed to have suffered some key injuries (fullback and outstanding KR/WR) that really hampered them in the 2nd half. The fullback was a bulldozer of a lead blocker and could catch the ball too. The pint-sized #6 was killing us on kick-off returns. Who could not hear “Ryan Eastman” called by the announcer so many times?!! There will be many, many sports stories written about “The Beast” in years to come. His desire, strength, mobility and football IQ were outstanding!

    Belated HB to Stretch!

Koakane, Is your iPhone a 3G? If so, how’s the 3G in the stadium?

  173. Maverick September 7, 2008 4:10 pm

Afternoon gang. Were resting, the team is resting, and I’m watching the replay of the Florida/Miami game. Impressed with Mr. Marves first start, but now feel secured he would of had problems at Hawaii adjusting. He is a Southern boy at heart and mind and needs to be surrounding with his territory teams.

Little nervous about hearing the injury reports from the team this week. Man, Weber St. can play good, hard nose football.

  174. myki September 7, 2008 4:19 pm

Happy Birthday to Wena and Stephen! ! !

Wena, thanks so much for sharing Stephen with all of us. I can imagine how precious little time you all have as a family and yet you both are so generous in sharing your family with us. We really appreciate all that you do for us.

Hope you had a terrific day together.

  175. kama krab September 7, 2008 4:19 pm

    Howzit everybody,

First of all I would like to thank ST for the opportunity of winning those great tickets for the game. I would like to say a very big mahalo. Had a wonderful time and so do my cousin who had come with me. Also happy birthday to you and your wife.

Second it was a lot of fun sitting next to Pride and Koakane. It is always good to spend time with great people like them.

  177. BG September 7, 2008 4:21 pm

    Hi Jason, D1, BowsForever!

Yeah, last nite’s first half was not pretty and things looked dark as the teams left the field. I remember thinking that I was surprised that I wasn’t really upset (I can get really passionate…like PB :D). I had a lucid moment when I was able to step back and say to myself, Adam Leonard said after the Florida game that that game did not define the team. Well, I think in the second half, this team will define itself (good or bad) for the rest of the season. This was going to be the opportunity…and I was so happy to witness the Warriors truly become Warriors. I think this is the milestone that we will look back upon at the end of the season and say, “That was the turning point”.

I don’t think your dream will be much of dream come next year when it becomes a reality. I have no doubt that we will be able to hit that goal and probably many more. We will see.

    las vegas 2009

got to talk once again to david lebby, the vp/gm of the cal and main street casino about our vegas trip next year. we will have three packages available; one, will be the full package air, trans, room, meals, game package which will include game tickets, trans, tailgate party, etc. two, will be all of the above less the air package, and lastly, game package only.

anyone interested please let me know which package you will be interested in. you can email me at kimuraa012 at hawaii.rr.com. in a couple of months i will get some real prices and will post it here. in the meantime let me know if you are interested so that i can get you on the list. please note, this will be a “tsaiko” group but others may jump in too. as far as tickets go, we are assured that the seats will be together. don’t forget that the stadium in las vegas is named after sam boyd former founder of the boyd gaming group therefore we should be getting great seats.

  183. HiFlyer September 7, 2008 4:27 pm

Asports – Test, what we going have after game test now?

  184. kama krab September 7, 2008 4:36 pm

    Eh Al,

That guy in the purple, he was killing me what he was doing in our t-gate. What kine is that. Tell him next time he no belong with us. Nah j/k it was nice to see DPK and the rest of the Tsaikos yesterday at the t-gate.

It was also nice to hear Ryan Eastman on tackle. I just wish it would have been with the roar of the crowd behind it. That’s alright Ryan you show the coaches what they missed out on. Good job brah and best wishes to you as you continue your career with Weber State. Hopefully we can see you play one more time before your career is over.

To bulla, the boy did a great job and we are all proud of him.

  185. Garret September 7, 2008 4:37 pm

    Al,

I’m definitely going to the Vegas game! I don’t need air of course, but the choice of game only vs. package will depend on price difference. I’m sure that I can convince my parents to get the full package including air–Mom used Panda Travel last year while Dad had a meeting on Maui so he couldn’t go.

    Good Morning Tsaikos and Tsaikettes!

    !!!!!!!HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEPHEN AND WENA!!!!!!!

    LizKauai (iPhone):
    September 7th, 2008 at 12:34 pm

dang I just remembered what I forgot yesterday. I took a nap while charging my phone and forgot to go back for a piece of A-Sports’ cake.

    LizK-

Gives meaning to the phrase “you snooze, you lose” Nah nah nah, j/k lol
Next time I’m on Kauai and have a bit of extra time, I’ll whip up a batch and drop it off at your workplace.

Man, talk about snoozing. It’s all I’ve been doing all day. Yesterday, the sun took its toll on me and with a full belly, I went to my sister’s and fell asleep sometime in the first quarter. I woke up in the fourth quarter and the score had turned around. Then this morning, I tried to watch the replay and yikes…hana hou. Good thing I taped it on DVR.

I kept telling A-joe, “You know…I had a really, really good time at the tailgate.” But it’s all that I could say. It’s not like me to be that much at a loss for words. All I know is when I think about it, it leaves me with a very satisfying warm and fuzzy, smiley face kind of feeling. I know the words will find its way. But for now my fellow Tsaikos and Tsaikettes, just know that I love you all.

  188. jojo ® September 7, 2008 4:41 pm

Jeje keeps saying,”told you so” about Graunke. I still like Funaki.

    Back to Colts and Bears.

    Oh,and Happy Birthday, eat cake.

  189. Garret September 7, 2008 4:42 pm

    BG,

My parents didn’t tell me that they dropped the food off early!

I do NOT think that your dream of 250 Tsaikos at the 2009 UNLV is unrealistic. We had 100 last year and could have had more since some people weren’t sitting in our section. Although I don’t think that JD will be sitting with us this time!

  190. BG September 7, 2008 4:44 pm

After watching the replay, I noted that Funaki was so close to making two TD passes…one was to Bain? in the endzone after he scrambled left and threw for the end of the endzone. The other was the go route to Javonte Taylor that Taylor dove for. JT had a couple of steps and would have scored if he had been hit in stride. Lots of offense stuff will get better in the next couple of games. History tells us they will.

I hope we send some words of encouragement to Inoke, Greg Alexander, and Brent Rausch. The talent is there, the desire is there… they just need the time to absorb how the system works well enough to just do and not think. I hope Inoke gets the same opportunity to develop this year that Tyler did.

  191. Garret September 7, 2008 4:46 pm

We just got back from another of Lori’s mystery shopping jobs. We ordered enough food to feed my entire family AND bring home enough for 2 lunches…and we’ll get what we paid reimbursed plus get paid $7. I love it when we get paid to eat out!

Lori has to fill out a survey about the service at the restaurant…my job is to show up and eat. I do my job well!

  194. BG September 7, 2008 4:54 pm

    Eh, Kama

Don’t forget the jet charter, ha’a and flash cards. Wouldn’t that just pump the team up?!! Especially if they come over to our section to do the Ha’a and we do it with them!!! ESPN hightlight for sure…no doubt 😀

  195. BG September 7, 2008 4:56 pm

Garret…LOL…you are so inventive in many ways!!!

  196. BG September 7, 2008 4:58 pm

    I think I posted my month’s quota!

OK, Wahine VB on in a few minutes.

    BBL

  197. Garret September 7, 2008 4:58 pm

The bad thing about playing at UNLV is that the game will be televised on the mtn network or CBS College Sports. At least the DirecTV people get mtn and DirecTV/Dish people get CBS College Sports in HD. No ESPN Gameplan for that game, but I’ll be there so I won’t care.

  198. Garret September 7, 2008 4:59 pm

    BG,

Lori finds all of these deals for us. I loved the Cheesecake Factory “job” where I had to order and appetizer, dinner, and dessert…that sure was a tough job!

  199. Stretch September 7, 2008 5:03 pm

One thing to keep in mind is that there will probably be a lot of people already up in the mainland the week before the UNLV game since UH is playing at Washington St. As soon as I can, I will be setting flights to fly into Seattle and depart LV. What to do in between?? Who knows….

  200. chawan_cut September 7, 2008 5:08 pm

    jason,
you should write the fan’s guide and then pass it on to kelli. you’ve been dying to teach the fans what to do. you can start small and get the students to learn first. now you have your chance!

  201. Jason September 7, 2008 5:15 pm

I’ll try to start on something, and I’ll send it to Kelli. Good thing we have a couple weeks before the next home game, cause I’m busy right now. This Axiomatic Set Theory class is kicking my ‘ōkole; I think I’m going to drop it unless I get a breakthrough tonight. 😛

  202. oldie (iPhone) September 7, 2008 5:26 pm

    Koakane,

Thanks for the info. So you used Wifi in the stadium? I couldn’t find any free Wifi last night, at least nothing that was not locked down.

  203. d1島: September 7, 2008 5:31 pm

    oldie,
Hmm, I didn’t even think of trying WiFi for my Tilt. Just stayed on 3G; although I was only messaging mostly.

  204. Stephen Tsai September 7, 2008 5:36 pm

    Stretch:
Little late on the answer here, but he defensive players now have plays written on their armbands. So Miano is just yelling out adjustments, not the actual play.

  205. d1島: September 7, 2008 5:37 pm

  206. oldie (iPhone) September 7, 2008 5:39 pm

    So 3G works well?

Edge is just too slow. I’ll probably be upgrading my phone.

  207. djmitcho September 7, 2008 5:44 pm

    stretch,
if you fly into seattle for the WSU game next year, you’ll have a 6 hour drive to get to pullman for the game. better you fly into spokane.

  208. Rich2176 September 7, 2008 5:50 pm

    BG/Al –

Tsaikogate Vegas 2009 will be a far cry from the humbling origins of last year. If anyone remembers, I was planning on getting 20-30 tix. Then more requests came in totaling around 60. Since I was able to get seats for $8 (cost w/ NO HANDLING FEE), I decided to get 100. Your blog host and my better half both told me I was nuts and I’d be stuck with tix. When ST called and said JD needed tix w/ the Tsaikos, I knew this was going to be the start of something very special. (And 100 tix was not enough…)

I’m willing to help out….just give the order if needed. A Tsaiko Tsection of 300-400 would be AWESOME…

  209. FloridaTed September 7, 2008 6:00 pm

Amazing, the Tsaikos have turned into a big time outfit,
Private Jets, Hollywood style parties, powerbrokers and law-experts…….
How far will it all go? When will the first Tsaiko run for President? Lol.

This is all just great, what a fantastic community.

  210. PONO September 7, 2008 6:01 pm

Anyone have extra tickets to the OSU game in the Hawaii section? Booked a last minute trip but don’t have tickets in the UH section. Looking for 4 tix, please email if you have extras, thanks. homes808@gmail.com

  211. Rich2176 September 7, 2008 6:14 pm

FlaTed – I think the turning point was Tsaiko Adult Beverage Dispensers (mugs & much larger mugs) and shot glasses….I believe that made it official….LOL

  212. Glenn September 7, 2008 6:19 pm

    Pomai;
    UH 33, OSU 31

This should be a good test of how good we are.

  213. FloridaTed September 7, 2008 6:22 pm

    Rich2176,

What is the most amazing part, is having hundreds of us all trust each other, withour ever having met. I’m sure you didn’t get stiffed for a single vegas ticket back then, or am I wrong? There’s just no other place like this anywhere and sometimes, it just boggles my mind.

    How’s Margo?

  214. Rich2176 September 7, 2008 6:27 pm

FlaTed – You are absolutely correct. There was so much trust with everyone. Nobody out there really knew me, only that Margo was friends w/ ST since Jr. High. I received checks and cash. Not a single check bounced. I tried my best to keep everyone’s ID and emails private with correspondence. Trying to make seating charts w/ blog names vs real names was a chore. But it all workded out fine. I look back now and laugh since almost everyone knows real names, email addresses and phone numbers….Quite an amazing group of individuals I’m honored to associate with.

  215. duffer September 7, 2008 6:31 pm

On next year’s Las Vegas game, I think the first order of business is to decide how many tickets to reserve. After listening to David, it’s a logistical nightmare for the hotels to keep track on who wants to sit where. The $8 price Rich got was a deal. They were surprised to learn anybody got game tickets that low. If we can comeup with a magic number for seats, it would be easier for everyone.

Then there’s the t-gate. Do the Tsai-kos want their own t-gate or all go to the hotel’s t-gate in the parking lot. Reserving a banquet room in one of the hotels shouldn’t be a problem if it’s decided far in advance.

    Just my thoughts….

  216. duffer September 7, 2008 6:32 pm

    BTW

Aloha Rich, hope Margo is doing fine!

Maybe a Tsai-ko golf tournament in Vegas….or slot tournament

  217. Committed Road Warrior September 7, 2008 6:33 pm

    PONO,

Even though you might not have been up there with the majority of Hawai’i fans, I was going to recommend to you that you purchase your tickets off of Oregon State’s website…..but when I just went to check it they don’t offer the UH game as an option for single-game tickets to purchase.

Is the UH-OSU game sold out?

  218. Kekoa (Survivor-WB) September 7, 2008 6:33 pm

A special salute to the T-gate attendee’s who signed ‘The Card’ and added a donation for one of our fellow members. Unfortunately, It is not something we can discuss on the blog in detail, but nevertheless, it is for a worthy individual, and his family. For more information you may email your questions to me, Garret or Rich 2176.

    Mahalo!
    Kekoa

  219. Rich2176 September 7, 2008 6:35 pm

    ooops workded = worked.

BTW, Margo is doing great. It was a year ago that her ordeal started. She’s 100% healthy and going for periodic check-ups which are all perfect. Trust me, she received so much encouragement from this group that at one point she was a bit embarrassed/shy. She jokes with ST about what he’s created from this blog. There are no better honest, generous, and genuine people in the world then those who have ties to the islands. They do something to your spirit for a lifetime…

  220. Rich2176 September 7, 2008 6:41 pm

Duffer – I’d still be willing to go strike that deal again at UNLV in the same section. The section actually worked out fine since we had a direct view of the JumboTron. Tix will probably be $10-$12 by next year, but it’s still a steal. (I was able to get the discount for purchasing 100 tix.) The folks at the UNLV box office were the best. They were SO much more helpful than our friends at the UH ticket office. And, no, I’m not gonna name names…

  221. Rich2176 September 7, 2008 6:44 pm

Kekoa – I can only imagine what transpired yesterday with regards to Post 218. Like I said…an amazing group. Glad to hear pops is doing so well!!

  222. Rich2176 September 7, 2008 6:49 pm

Duffer – I’ll have my sticks out there since I’ll probably play in the alumni tournament w/ JD. I’d settle for a “shot” tournament… But, perhaps we can set up a small Tsaiko golf tournament. That would be a blast…Oh, here we go again…thinking something small and managible, and we’ll have 144 golfers out there!!!

  223. Rich2176 September 7, 2008 6:50 pm

MANAGIBLE = I don’t know and too tired to look it up….

  224. Kekoa (Survivor-WB) September 7, 2008 6:53 pm

Mahalo Rich for taking good care of Margo and for spearheading our Tsaiko movement on the mainland. Whatever happens next year will be another step up the ladder for the many Tsaiko’s who travel in support of the Warrior Nation. 😎

  225. SteveM September 7, 2008 6:56 pm

Happy Birthday to Stephen and Wena!

Little late because of long sleep and naps today. Just finished reading the blog from yesterday and today… WOW — what a tailgate, game and post-game nightI I have never had a UH football game day of this magnitude!
Not even when I was student over 21 🙂

A great day spent with great people! …and we won–next stop Oregon State!

  226. Rich2176 September 7, 2008 6:59 pm

SteveM – I was getting a little worried about you. I went to your site and saw the countdown for the Weber State game at zeros. Like time had stopped. You usually have the next countdown loaded….lol. Sounds like a huge turnout yesterday for the TG. You guys are making me more and more homesick….lol.

    And to INOKE FUNAKI,

I am really really glad you are the leader on the team!
You are the leader. Many of us expect you to be the leader in the community. You’re a natural leader. Under leader, we got football. Thank you very much for allowing other people to develop themselves so that we get the best team on the field. Sometimes, that means that you are not the QB. Thats not bad, thats just the fact. Even still, you da man! Thank you. And as you know, every day is a new day with a new opportunity!

    GO WARRIORS!!!!

Howzit BHF2 ~ After Pops and I cross paths with you last night after the game, we forgot to ask you why you were walking back to the Cabana by yourself. We worried that you might end up making a wrong turn and ending up on Ford Island!

Later, I got a fix on your position from Koakane at Cabana central. (The eyes of Tsaikos are upon you at all times sir). I understand that the mission was to destroy all the evidence of having adult beverages on Federal property. The post recon group you joined was reportedly totally successful. Well done.

Thanks Rich2176 — I updated the home page. Countdown 5 days 14 hours to Corvallis kick-off time.

Regarding Las Vegas 2007– due to the myriad of air/lodging/tailgate/ticket possibilities and to get preliminary counts going, I might put up a SURVEY form again. I will double-check with Al and duffer first. An anonymous (for now) and non-binding survey should give us distribution number estimates for the contingencies.

Rich2176thanks for stepping up again for the Tsai-kos!

I didn’t care for the team entrance. Front row fans were not paddling as planned. The band sounded soft. I like hawaii 5-0 but team entrance wasn’t big time college football. It was pretty weak.

The pre-recorded music playing over the speakers that were placed along the endzone walls were much better for the entrance and before kickoffs etc. Crowd seemed the get more hyped up when pre-recorded music played. I also wish they didn’t do away with the individual introductions of the players before the game.

  238. Pauoa Boy September 7, 2008 8:07 pm

    Sup Gang,
Think I had enough football for one day, just got done watching my 4th game of the day…lots of injuries to big name guys on opening day…

Is it just the NFL that uses the helmet with the mic inside to call plays or will college start using them too? Would give the defenses a huge advantage adjusting, I’m thinking. Anyway, anybody know some scoops?

    Stretch:
Little late on the answer here, but he defensive players now have plays written on their armbands. So Miano is just yelling out adjustments, not the actual play.

Whatever signals he is giving to them is coming in late. They are rushing up to the line as the offense is almost ready to snap the ball. Teams might pick up on that and do a quick snap to catch them off guard.

    Rich

I hope you’re still around the blog. As Duffer mentioned earlier, the Boyd folks are offering a game package and it includes a game ticket. I wouldn’t doubt for a moment that they could arrange for all of us to sit in one section and the seats would be good ones. That would make it so much easier for coordination purposes, to have a person right there to pull the strings. The Boyd guys were so down to earth and great to talk to.

I’m so glad that Florida Ted asked about Margo and even happier with your reply. Just remember that it’s sometimes a little deceiving when someone looks great. Some things take a lot longer to get back to normal (like nerve endings in the hands/feet). It’s been about a year for Betty since the end of chemo and she’s just about getting normal function. I’ll bet Margo is not a complainer…so you just gotta be aware and looking.

    Saturday Tailgating Tsai-kos —

Woke up “early” to wish the Tsai’s a happy birthday and watch the replay. But then left it replaying (over and over, lol) as I talked with A-joe over the phone. Phone died and fell asleep. So before it becomes tomorrow and I disappear for the rest of the week, wanted to post my thank you to you all for a very enjoyable day full of fs. (Uh, except no fishing this time, al!)

MAGNIFICENT FUN AWESOME day yesterday. Realized I hadn’t seen many of you in “awhile.” Missed you all and so it was nice to at least say hi and share some fuud. The fuud was so ono, still had lots when I arrived at 4. Got my fill — YUM and THANK YOU!
    .
Kazz, BG, Betty, thank you for the facilitation of another great tailgate event!

Mr. A-House and twin midori, Thank you for coordinating the parking. You are my thoughtful hanai family!

Homey- Oh shucks I missed your oysters? Next time I’ll text you to save me one? 😳

Addahknowsports- I missed your skewers(?) but wow your auntay leadfoot apple cake was delicious! You must share the recipe!!! 😉

SteveM, that RB hit the spot! Thank You!!! 🙂

Kekoa- Didn’t realize and I’d like to add to that envelope you were working on. I’ll send you an email shortly.

midori and James my yellow section seat partners- Thank you for a fun time at the game! Enjoyed sitting in the same row with the A-Houses and Ethel too!

Rob25- Glad to meet your not-yet 250lb son. lol. He was so cute. Good work, mom and dad! Yes, we missed you last nite!

Rep. K. Mark Takai- Nice catching you at lunch last week. Thank you, thank you, thank you twice! Glad to see you could make it to the game. Btw, see Stretch for your glasses!

evening gang wow must be the starbucks ac or the ice tea they serve but I came home to watch vball. after turning on tv next thing I know its 8 pm. dat power nap was good anyway

chawan looking at your game pics and noticed you caught kama, his son, pride and myself. wot kind of camera you was using. looked like you on da field or on the oddah side of the field. anyway nice pics.

after looking at the replay of yesterday game. wstate had some dline twist that continued to confused the oline blocking. this was the same problems happening during two a days. seem like during the 2nd half dey cleaned it up a little but still not sure about assignment when wstate went into their up alignment with guys bouncing around. imho oline need to have a call where they go into a zone blocking scheme instead of staying with their man blocking. 😕

oldie if you lurking. really not worried about the speed because getting text messages and emails to others is fine with me. 3g would definately make it faster but want to save battery so iphone last the whole game instead of dieing. if I am in an zone where I can not get my email or internet access den I will turn it on. during tgate lizK, jason, steveM and myself discussed this same problem and we decided what best work for us is all that matters. We like our iphone and we all use it differently.

special yahoooo to kazz annoddah supa tgate put togetha, Ahouse and midori suppa bfish and nice to see ya. UH808 glad you got there all wondering where you wuz.. bhf2 also good to see you and your niece. we know each oddah from the days we worked together for ksbe. keep bringing her when you come for tgates fun to reminisce those times. fogot to add my kudo’s to kekoa, diane and especially pops, yep he looking good plus patnah da ten was da bomb with the beeeeg uh logo. myki and gerry send me some of da thousand pics you took…thanks eh.

  261. cocobean September 7, 2008 9:43 pm

Pomai, you hit the nail on the head. Confidence is what separates Graunke from the other QBs. Confidence comes from within. It can be brought out but never put in. It’s fragile and fleeting. The crowd had confidence in winning going in, lost it by half time, got it back after Graunke’s first completion. Same up, down, up for the team.
Graunke reminds me a lot of Jeff Duva and Jason( I beat Alabama) Whieldon. Guys who played with moxie and confidence. Colt was on another level. The team, the coaches, the fans, all believed(had confidence) in Colt’s ability to win no matter who the opponent or what the game situation. When a team plays with confidence they’re harder to beat.

Last nite we had a midnight get-together to wish Happy Birthday to ST. Thank you to ST and those able to attend. We were able to spend some early Sunday morning time with ST despite his not too good feeling stomach.

Thank you again to all that attended. Had a great time!

Is it possible to plan combination Washington State / LV game packages too? If so I’d love to participate in air-hotel-game tickets-Tsaiko-gates!

  267. SteveM September 7, 2008 10:20 pm

In my recollection, yesterday’s 2008 inaugural Tsaiko-Gate was the longest yet: approximately 6 hours starting from before 11:00 AM…

Peaches noted the food kept arriving in waves–and of course, everything looked so good she had to try everything… 😐 As soon as a dish was gone, there was another to take it’s place until 4:00 PM. Even then, the food table overflowed! Unplanned, it was a very impressive spectacle for our Boyd Group guests and they kept sampling.

The grill kept sending delectables from noon till 4:00 thanks to Addahknowsports, Kazz, Kanoe et. al, duffer and others.

Thanks to BG and Kazz for making the Tsaiko-Gates possible!

  268. Stretch September 7, 2008 10:28 pm

Sounds like I missed a good tailgate. I hope to stop by the next time. Sorry for those who wanted to watch tv. I heard that it didn’t work out too well. I hope there is another option to catch the signal.

  269. al September 7, 2008 10:31 pm

    what a game.

i was nodding out at the start of the second quarter. must have been the sun.

then this guy in the row in back of us…..well, i guess he likes to be heard. trying to second guess the coaches all game, calling the penalties and loudly professing his “knowledge” of the game. loud, irritating, and very annoying. his wife/gf was silent all game. so he leaves early. the lady next to me says, “boy, am i glad he left!!!”

so i tell her, “oh i thought he was your friend???” okay so we all had a laugh and prayed that he didn’t have season tickets.

  270. al September 7, 2008 10:34 pm

actually we all had too much of a good time to even bother with the tv.

We recorded the game earlier today for Pauoa Boy and made another copy for us to watch so that we can see what happened last night since we missed most of the game from our carpy seats. If anyone wants a copy, please let me know.

Okay – question time: Why is it bad form to cheer the team when they are on offense? I certainly like yelling D or DE-fense, but shouldn’t fans support the team when they’re moving the ball down the field to score?

Mahalo to Kazz & BG for coordinating the T-Gate yesterday. As long as there are desserts, that’s all I need. Maybe next time I’ll bring ice cream if I can figure out a way to keeping it from melting.

Unfortunately, we were not able to redeem the HI-5 containers today. The amount raised should be around $25 – $30 and will be dropped off at Dole Middle School as soon as possible.

Off to bed – my cold has gotten considerably worse since this morning and I have a lot of business stuff tomorrow which cannot be put off because of other people’s deadline.

  288. Pride. September 8, 2008 1:12 am

Stretch. I was with a friend who is with HPD tonight. I remarked to him how we had a police officer on the field in the front of us who looked real silly, because all she did throughout the game was stare at the crowd.

He said that the officers on the field are restricted from watching or looking at the game. they are required to moniter crowd behavior and to be able to point out anyone that misbehaves. they moniter fighting, fans throwing objects, and fans taunting the opposing players or coaches. He said that fans who taunt players or coaches are subject to removal from the stadium.

  289. al September 8, 2008 1:18 am

    WassupDoc,

The offense needs to be able to hear the QB call the signals and any possible audibles, plus make sure everyone is right on with the snap count. Noise disrupts that, which is good when your team is on defense, but not on offense.

    Good Morning MeiLing –

I’ve sent it twice. I’ll try again. I replied directly to your email, so it’s not like I managed to screw up your email address. Perhaps it went to a “bulk” or “junk” folder? Hotmail is sometimes aggressive that way.

Garret – thanks for sending it to JaM.

Whew boy…one busy week coming up with work….BTW, does anyone know how us west coast folks can watch Saturday’s game? I haven’t checked listings yet.

  297. Pomai September 8, 2008 4:53 am

Question – you mean to tell me that if I sit behind the visitor’s bench an yell “HEY COACH YOU SUCK” they can kick me out??

  298. Pomai September 8, 2008 4:55 am

Rich yeah it’s called Hawaiian Airline. j/s joke LOL

  299. Rich2176 September 8, 2008 4:59 am

  305. d1島 September 8, 2008 5:55 am

    Great Morning All!

“tough love” from Coach Mack shows he is dead serious about academics. Gotta “do it right”

Man, you gotta like this guy.

  306. d1島 September 8, 2008 5:57 am

    brew808,
…and the agony continues for us Niner fans. It’s so tempting to wish these former stars that are going to be featured pre-game could suit up again.

    Good morning Tsaikos everywhere.

Just love this video da game stuff. got to watch the postgame interviews of Bain, Graunke and Coach Mack.

Tyler Graunke has his head on so so right. He was pushing all my good buttons. team, team, team.

And Coach Mack, he is such a good man! A smart man. He steps up at the right time. No wonder the coaches respect him. He is giving off great vibes, he was giving nice energy to his friend Coach McBride.

Me, I like McBride. He was accepting da respect, but I just know dat inside himself he was stewing….
He had doze purple peeps all tinkin day wuz going smoke UH. whew…. dats all i can say….

which brings me to OSU. Da buckteets tink day get issues, no like go 0-3. day tinkin UH da hula hula guyz;, day dreamin day goin make one luau. so day goin like stuff us at da lines. so, our QB gotta go mo crisp, fling da apple samoa. TG going do it!

an coach Mack gotta remine coach Miano to leave his nice guy personna at home wit da missus, oddawize his boyz going end up wit misses on da early slants. our dbs got betta at da end ah da game, i projectin dem for play betta against OSU frum da beginnin ah da game. day can do it!

I didn’t watch the 2nd half…had baby duty w/my NT by the concession stands. Tell Ryan…Unko Ana said to keep up the GREAT WORK he’s doing! Please give Ryan our Alofa’s! To Cameron Higgins “AWESOME JOB CAM”.
