Mouton, Ingram drafted; FA deals for J.Leonard, Dowling

draft

“I’m back with them,” Ryan Mouton said after he was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the third round of today’s NFL draft.
Mouton was the 94th overall pick.
Mouton, who was raised in Houston, was “8 or 9” when the Houston Oilers moved to become the Tennessee Titans.
“You always root for the hometown team,” Mouton said. “Even though we’re big Cowboy fans in my house, when the Oilers played, we rooted for those guys. When they moved to Tennessee I still followed those guys.”
The Titans and Tampa Bay Buccaneers watched Mouton work out at his alma mater, Katy High School, on Friday. After that, Mouton recalled, “they told me, ‘You’re my guy.”
Yesterday, Mouton was told by Tennessee reporters that he would be taken with the 94th pick.
When the 93rd pick was on the clock, Mouton received the call. He was asked: “How would you like to come out and be a Tennessee Titan?”
Mouton will report to the Titans Thursday to participate in rookie camp. He is being looked at as a cornerback, nickelback and special-teams player. KIckoff returner? Punt returner?
“Whatever it is, I’m willing to do it,” Mouton said.
Mouton said the Titans were nor concerned about the pulled hamstring he suffered during the East-West Shrine Game in January. Mouton aggravated the injury while running the 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine in February and UH Pro Day earlier this month.
“They saw what I could do on tape,” Mouton said. “They never questioned my speed.”

Jake Ingram goes to the New England Patriots in the sixth round.

jake

Ingram said the Patriots’ special-teams coach called him, and just started talking story for about three minutes. Then he said, somebody wants to talk to Ingram. Bill Belichick then came on the line, and told Ingram he would be drafted. “I was star-struck,” Ingram said.
Ingram, who was 230 pounds at the NFL combine and Pro Day, said he was told he should weigh close to 240 when he reports to mini camp on Thursday.
“I’m going to eat right now,” he said.
Ingram thanked June Jones, who suggested the move to long-snapper, and Ikaika Malloe, last season’s special teams coach. Malloe, the defensive coordinator at Yale, will be about an hour’s drive from the Patriots’ training facility.

Defensive tackle Josh Leonard has reached an agreement on a free-agent contract with the Houston Texans. Leonard said he will play the three-shade technique in the 4-3 alignment. “It feels great,” Leonard said. The Texans do not have a rookie camp, so Leonard will report to mini-camp May 15.

* * *

Jameel Dowling said he has agreed to a free-agent deal with the Arizona Cardinals. He said he is awaiting the paperwork, but he already has accepted the offer. Dowling is being looked at as a cornerback.

Kaluka Maiva was picked in the fourth round, No. 104 overall, by the Cleveland Browns.

I almost fell off of my chair listening to the, Mel Kiper give our Ryan Mouton some very good remarks!! Way to go Ryan…keep it going!!
Best to you and all our guys hoping to make it in the NFL.

  9. NYUH April 26, 2009 6:14 am

Any chance the yardfest yesterday could be attributed to better o-line performance?

  10. 99club April 26, 2009 6:20 am

Congratulations Ryan! Nice to go to a playoff team!

  11. NYUH April 26, 2009 6:22 am

Congrats to Coach McMackin on getting two players drafted high. That should speak volumes to young recruits wondering if Hawaii is an avenue to the NFL.

  12. mctruck April 26, 2009 6:24 am

I was just thinking,(which can be dangerous), that UH should award all these former UH players who are drafted a plaque or trophy of sorts to commemorate their being drafted? (Past/present/future-players). Hope it don’t break the piggy-bank??

  13. Maverick April 26, 2009 6:25 am

    It’s all Good.
Great way to start off the Sunday morning.
Reminds me of re-watching the Hawaii games the next day after a win.

    Keep on Truckin’ Warriors.

    Good Morning America!

No…no need thank UH for supplying the NFL with quality players, it’s becoming a routine ritual. The pipeline has been open for some time now, but thank you for finally noticing! (Even if it’s looking over the top of your rose colored glasses, and down your pug nose).

  17. koakaneโ„ข April 26, 2009 6:33 am

Morning Tsai-ko country hey what am I doing up so early?

Yesterday tgate was just super and like the warriors spring practice the tsaikos went all out. Glad to report we will be looking fine in 09. Pink side visits by cohana, cen cee and their leader Esme who never whooshed and stayed.

Mahalo to jj, homey and kazz with coming early to set up. Also much love to all who brought fuuud. Had to fight off mr. A house for the Saba. Stretch has a secret fishing spot and what happens at tgate well you know.

  18. PONO April 26, 2009 6:38 am

Looks like Davone will have some competition next year. The Dolphins have already drafted two WR’s.

btw congrats to baseball warriors of that thrilling come from behind win of the 2nd game. man this years team really banging the ball with neva give up attitude.

shout out also to softball wahines for winning their series against Namasu. the tennis ballers for advancing to the WAC tennis finals. all good at UH so far.

finally a beeeg cheer to Mr. Veikune on his selection in the 2nd round. give that man a hand he deserved it. congrats big guy.

  21. 99club April 26, 2009 6:46 am

Dang. Miami picked two WR’s so far, three if you count Pat White as a WR.

  22. Maverick April 26, 2009 6:48 am

So if Veikune and Maiava are both on the field together in Cleveland, will it pull this city out of the recession earlier than others?

The announcers will have a myna bird moment talking it up with these two.

    Just a bright thought.

  23. Pauoa Boy April 26, 2009 6:53 am

    Congrats bruddah Mouton…chee huu!!!

So I’m guessing Cleveland Browns starting the new Island Pipeline… would be nice to see Veikune, Maiava, and Purcell on the field at the sametime.

  24. Pauoa Boy April 26, 2009 6:58 am

Davone Bess will not have a problem holding his spot on the Dolphins, I think Ted Ginn Jr. is a bust and overrated. Thing that sucks is the Dolphins invested highly on Ginn Jr. Davone Bess should swap contracts and get paid cause he was obviously the Dolphins best receiver last year and returner. If you look at production towards the end of the season leading up to the playoffs he was the best slot receiver in the NFL or at least Top 3.

  25. Stephen Tsai April 26, 2009 7:02 am

    PB:
And, of course, Marissa Bonilla in the stands.

  26. Pauoa Boy April 26, 2009 7:04 am

Jake Ingram and Josh Leonard should get picked up sometime today. For Jake Ingram, I know the Bengals were all over him and working him out extensively at Pro-Day with a couple other scouts watching. I also overheard a couple scouts saying Josh Leonard would be on there boards for the late rounds… Good luck to them.

  27. Kekoa April 26, 2009 7:10 am

Howzit gangy! Great day in Hawaii Nei!

I’m so happy to see my pahtna, KK alive and well…and so early in the morning. (musta drank himself sobah!) Thanks again for being the t-gate team leader yesterday.

Pound for pound, the Portuguese people were well represented around the grill. It looked like a *Pocho* sausage convention with dogs of all different flavors, ranging from hot ‘n spicy, to bloody *Dracula* style!

I believe we put a sizeable dent in the Leonard Bakery shelves as there were dozens of Malasadas of all flavors stacked on Table A. A bountifull array of sweet things fresh from the home style ovens of Midori and Janice (Mrs. Sailor Blue) were eagerly scarfed up by hungry T-gators.

If you missed tasting Mei Ling’s Gun-Dooty Rice ‘n Beans served with W/Doc’s Beef Stew…yaw fault…wuz ono you know!

Another shout out to Whitey & Duffer for sending the Guri X 2 over from Maui with Stretch. Mahalo to A-joe for safe keeping it (right under A-Sports nose!). It was nice to be able to share it with everyone at the Cabana. Needless to say, it was never in any danger of melting away!

Mrs. & Mrs. A-House was ‘encouraging’ us to eat more of their yummy stuff….and… the Lopaka49 Ohana was there to help us get kick started. I swear, if that boy of theirs keeps getting taller, coach Nash might have a playah!

    BBL…need more Kona Koffee.

    congrats to ryan and kaluka!!

was pleasantly surprised to see RM go in the 3rd rd, especially after his hamstring injury. some of the pundits were worried about his 4.56 40 time, but glad to see that the titans put more emphasis on his game film.

    jake next?

  36. 3-Prong April 26, 2009 7:49 am

    MOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!! Congratulations.

Congratulations to DV and KM too. Is Purcell still with Browns? DV will be competing at LB anyway. Starting to like them Browns a lot.

  37. Pauoa Boy April 26, 2009 7:59 am

Mouton was clocked in the 4.42 – 4.48 range with pulling up at the 20yd. line and trotting the rest of the way. He is a legit 4.3 guy when fully healthy. He is probably the most gifted athlete we’ve had in years.

  38. Pauoa Boy April 26, 2009 8:03 am

    3-Prong

Mel Purcell is on the Cleveland Browns still. He was mostly on the practice squad.

  39. Stretch April 26, 2009 8:09 am

    Taken from ESPN Draft Tracker

Mouton shows excellent awareness and flashes the ability to make plays in coverage. He isn’t afraid to step up in run support, either. The problem is he doesn’t have great physical tools. He’s 5-foot-9, 187 pounds and runs 4.56 in the 40. All this means he doesn’t have as much upside as some of the other corner prospects in this class.

4.56 40?? Is that was he is being credited??
I wonder if Mel Kiper wrote this??

  40. Stephen Tsai April 26, 2009 8:09 am

Kenny Zuckerman is smiling. He represents Veikune and Mouton.

  41. Pauoa Boy April 26, 2009 8:10 am

Just watched Coach Fisher talk about Ryan Mouton, and it’s obvious they thought very highly of him. He said Mouton will be help primarily on Special Teams as a return man with his speed. He could also be the type of nickelback for them as he was for us…

  42. Stephen Tsai April 26, 2009 8:10 am

Mouton even had a Rod Tidwell moment. He said he wanted to thank his agent.

  43. warriorfanny2 April 26, 2009 8:14 am

Warriors had fun in the Spring game yesterday.

As expected, our receiver corps displayed awesome assests and depth that should make it tops in the WAC.
Ron Lee must be drooling, as well he should being 2-deep w nary a drop-off in quality.

Our OL played with more discipline and that is a great start and a positive first-step under new mentor Gordie Shaw.

We should be encouraged with 2-heralded JUCO RB additions migrating to camp…. and Greg and Brent look to be more comfortable with a year under their belt in the warrior O system.

Our D has 90 days to mend and get stronger before camp begins and there were particular bright spots along the three-D units.
Spencer Smith made a statement at safety and we need someone steady to anchor our backside.

The addition of Coaches Tormey and Shaw and their fusion of character w staff was evident and inspiring.

If fans are lookin for excitment in 2009, we will have plenty of talented receivers to display.
If you are looking for a solid-core of football players that are business-like in approach, I believe MAC & staff are providing strong impetus for that character.

SATURDAY’s Warrior Bowl was positive stuff.

  44. Pauoa Boy April 26, 2009 8:15 am

    Stretch,

I don’t believe in any of that analyst crap. Mouton could frikkin jog a dayum 4.56 40 yd. dash. At his Pro-Day his slowest time was the 4.48 with pulling up at the 20 yd. mark. Regardless, 40yd. times are dumb cause some guys are game speed guys and play much faster than a straight line 40yd.

  45. Stephen Tsai April 26, 2009 8:16 am

There isn’t one exact time for any player, not even at the NFL combine. Every team keeps it’s own time. Even laser times are still subjective. When do you start?
At Pro Day, I stood next to a group on the right side. There were four scouts, and they combined their results. Those were the ones we used. But, no, they don’t have a big scoreboard and announce results.

  46. chawan_cut April 26, 2009 8:20 am

    Congratulations to them all!

  47. Stephen Tsai April 26, 2009 8:21 am

I remember when I was at the NFL combine last year, I was the pool reporter in charge of Colt. He had a great performance. I wrote that up in the report. None of draft analysts were allowed in, not even Kiper nor Gil Brandt, nor the NFL Network announcers. That’s why I thought Kiper’s knocks on Colt were unfair, since he didn’t see him work out.

  48. chawan_cut April 26, 2009 8:23 am

I think ST had a small kine crush on Marissa… heh.

  49. Stephen Tsai April 26, 2009 8:23 am

And because there are at least 32 different 40 times on each player, an analyst can pick the one he wants to fit his predictions. If he doesn’t like a guy, he can take the slowest time.

  50. Stephen Tsai April 26, 2009 8:26 am

For UH fans, it was a good sign that both teams had so many good receivers. Now it’ll be like Survivor, with both teams merging in training camp. That’s a high concentration of talent.

  51. Da Punchbowl Kid April 26, 2009 8:43 am

    Good Morning All!

So far so good for the Warrior NFL hopefuls. Watching Veikune go so early was particularly gratifying because he wasn’t even on our favorite “Hair Guy” analyst’s list of the so called “next best availiabe” when he was picked. All of the commentators seemed to have an “oops, didn’t see that coming” moment when Veikune was picked. ๐Ÿ˜†

Good for Ryan also. Let’s hope Josh and Jake are picked today!

Congrats to the other guys from our islands who were picked.

Veikune, Mouton and Ingram should be no surprise–MAC mentioned them as NFL drafts as well as Josh having a shot.

No doubt JJ was known to shout-out names liberally cuz of an eager and often times–gullible media. Lol. It works both ways, JJ said davone was one of his best, including the NFL…and no one listened….yep!

    NYUH

No punts.. no kicks at the game yesterday. Though I’ve read reports that they practiced some kicks before the game and that they looked pretty good. BUT then, no one can really say that the kickers were UH’s designated kickers to begin with.

So long, Im goin golfin–we cant win w/out pitching and our bullpen is depleted–this game will prolly be a shortened 10- run rule game the way we are pitching…mercy!

Bowz did well to split w NMS and remain in contention.
NEV is @ Fresno for 4 in week-5 and Bowz will host LaT for 4 at the LES…. NMS draws a WAC-BYE.
The wolfpack will be hard-pressed to split with the hungry dawgs and HAW is in great shape with 8 games remaining on our regular season WAC schedule.

Yesterday’s t-gate was GREAT – food, fun, friends!

Nice to finally meet Mrs Colmaohana and hubby and Sailor blue and Mrs and see Cen and Powderpuff again.

Had to fight off KK for the rights to saba belly – but, Mrs BG beat us to the first belly. Thanks, Stretch, it tasted really good!

Warrior Bowl was fun to watch 2009 Warirors for the first time. Dang, receivers are going to be good! O-line had a good showing which is most encouraging. Thought B Moniz did a good job at QB; Rausch was somewhat disappointing as his passes kept going lower and lower making it hard for the receivers.

Kinda disappointed nothing posted or in the paper today about Jr-Day. I would think that much publicity would be given to it for a multitude of reasons.

  93. Committed Road Warrior April 26, 2009 11:18 am

UH is certinly being represented well in this draft and hope Josh Leonard gets the call. If not, then a free agent with the team he feels best suited for his situation.

As someone mentioned earlier, this is really a wake up call to all that UH is very consistent with moving players up to the next level and, surprisingly, to teams not usually associated with UH. I may have to shift my alligence to another team if the 49ers keep passing on Warriors!!!

  115. Stephen Tsai April 26, 2009 12:26 pm

    dj:
I’m thinking Adam Leonard, Josh Leonard, Solomon Elimimian, Erik Robinson and maybe Jameel Dowling end up in somebody’s camp. I think Calvin Roberts and Fale Laeli deserve shots, but they might not have enough of a resume.

  116. Kekoa April 26, 2009 12:31 pm

…and to add to what Liz said, Jake is the ultimate perfect practice person. His consistancy is rooted in his manner of striving for each snap to be right on target. His work ethic is intense.

Good on ya Jake! I’m so proud to see you represent Hawaii along with David, Ryan, and all the other Warriors you shared the field with during your time at UH. Good times straight ahead!

  117. BowsForever April 26, 2009 1:01 pm

This is a great day for Mouton and Ingram (and of course Veikune). Third round for Mouton means a little extra dough, and that’s no bad thing! Lots of people love to hate the Patriots, but they’re a good organization, so maybe Ingram can be the long snapper equivalent of Vinatieri there.

Best of luck to the other Warriors with pro aspirations. That Adam and Solly didn’t get an invite to the Combine is a shame.

  118. G (China) April 26, 2009 1:01 pm

Congratulations to David, Ryan, and Jake!! It’ll be great to follow their careers in the NFL!

  120. BowsForever April 26, 2009 1:13 pm

By the way, what’s going on this year? Aside from Adam and Solly supposedly being caught in the middle of a deep linebacker draft class (I’m sure they’ll get their chance), Veikune, Mouton and Ingram all got drafted quite a bit higher than I expected. Maybe some NFL teams do respect Hawaii after all.

  121. LizKauai [iMac] UNITE AND CONQUER! April 26, 2009 1:42 pm

jm2375- I join you in the head-scratching and wondering if the Redskins will actually improve their OLine this year.

  122. Garret April 26, 2009 2:00 pm

    To Garret,
I do not think that one needs to play peewee football to be able to compete in College or NFL.

    puakinikini,

I agree with you. I think you were responding to an article that I posted last night–the words were not from me, they were in the article that you can read if you clicked on my name of that post.

I don’t think that the writer was trying to put down Veikune in his article. I think he was pointing out that Veikune has less experience (1 year of being a starter in college and limited playing time before high school) than most players drafted, so he hasn’t reached his full potential yet.

  123. MeiLing April 26, 2009 2:01 pm

Congrats to David, Ryan, Jake & Kaluka at the next level! Waiting to hear about the oddah guys.

Would love to see LWJ continue the play we saw in yesterday’s Warrior Bowl game. He can do it. Just has to stay healthy. Go LWJ!

  124. Garret April 26, 2009 2:03 pm

    Congratulations to Ryan Mouton!

Third round was what I was hoping for Mouton and he is deserving of going in that round. That will be more money for him than if he went in the 4th round and much more than if he went in the 6th or 7th rounds like he was projected before he put up the awesome numbers at the combine and UH’s Pro Day.

  125. Garret April 26, 2009 2:05 pm

    Congratulations to Jake Ingram!

I believe that the last long-snapper drafted also went in the 6th round, but it is rare that ANY long-snapper gets drafted, so this shows how valued he is. He’s going to a team that has drafted extremely well and will have a chance to snap under pressure in many playoff games in the future.

  126. Garret April 26, 2009 2:06 pm

Note about Washington not drafted a QB because they didn’t need one due to having Campbell and Colt.

Despite a great deal of effort on behalf of Redskins owner Dan Snyder to woo Sanchez before the draft, the Skins didn’t need him what with still developing Jason Campbell and untested Hawaii prodigy Colt Brennan in the wings.

  127. chawan_cut April 26, 2009 2:06 pm

here’s the video that PauoaBoy mentioned earlier. its from the Titan’s site and has Coach Fisher and the position coaches talking about Ryan
    http://www.titansonline.com/media-center/videos/titans-on-te-cook-cb-mouton/c6bb34ce-1c5c-43b7-9002-721aa1b6412b

  128. Garret April 26, 2009 2:07 pm

Tennessee paper had a note about Mouton.

In Mouton, the Titans got a versatile corner who also has return skills.

Mouton was slowed earlier this offseason by a hamstring injury which affected his workouts, but the Titans sent secondary coach Marcus Robertson to see him recently, and Robertson came away impressed.

Mouton had 43 tackles and one interception in 2008, and also returned a kick for a touchdown.

โ€œWhatever they need me to do,โ€™โ€™ Mouton said, โ€œI am willing to go in there and work.โ€™โ€™

  129. Garret April 26, 2009 2:08 pm

This Charleston paper had a lot longer article about Mouton.

Cornerback Ryan Mouton of Hawaii had poor luck pulling a hamstring at the East-West Shrine game. He tweaked it at the NFL Combine in February, then he re-injured the leg at his workout. He still posted times in the 40-yard dash of 4.48 and 4.42 seconds.

The Titans liked the Houston native enough they sent defensive backs assistant Marcus Robertson down for a last look Friday.

They liked what they saw enough to take Mouton with the 94th pick overall and 30th in the third round.

“Knowing I had some skills or whatever, I am glad they took notice of that,” Mouton said. “Not being able to show to everyone was kind of frustrating, but I couldn’t have landed in a better spot than what I did.”

  130. Garret April 26, 2009 2:09 pm

Note that the Titans lost their kick/punt returner to Baltimore, so they need someone to get the job…it would be great if Mouton shows them what he can do there!

Mouton returned kicks and punts after transferring to Hawaii. He also has played as the fifth defensive back on the field extensively, so he will give the Titans options at returner after losing Chris Carr to Baltimore in free agency.

  131. Garret April 26, 2009 2:11 pm

This Cleveland paper had a transcript of an interview with Veikune. Great stuff here, he represents UH well. I don’t want to fill the blog with all of the quotes, so I’ll just pick two.

(On making the jump from the Western Athletic Conference to the NFL) – โ€œThe NFL, thatโ€™s where all the best players are. I feel like the WAC also has a lot of very productive players that come out of it, the NFL though, thatโ€™s where the top players are and Iโ€™m just honored to be one of those people now.โ€

(On what type of player he was at Hawaii) – โ€œI was a player that played everything, whatever the coaches needed me to play, whether it was nose guard, defensive end, and just a relentless player that doesnโ€™t take a play off, gets to the quarterback and makes big hits.โ€

  132. Garret April 26, 2009 2:13 pm

Washington State had to end its Spring Game early because of a lack of depth.

Athletic director Jim Sterk, addressing media members at the start of yet another scrimmage shortened because of the lack of healthy players, said the financially strapped Cougars intend to double the number of donors to the athletic department in the coming year.

Saturdayโ€™s scrimmage lasted just 45 minutes. Coach Paul Wulff again said he was pleased with the teamโ€™s improved physical play and mental approach this spring, though he acknowledged the lengthy list of key players missing with injuries limited the Cougars.

  133. Garret April 26, 2009 2:14 pm

Washington State only had 400 people watching their spring game.

Wulff said he was pleased with the progress of quarterback Kevin Lopina. Marshall Lobbestael was limited in spring drills and did not scrimmage while recovering from knee surgery, but Wulff said Lobbestael should be fully healthy in time for fall camp and ready to challenge Lopina for the starting job.

About 400 spectators โ€”including former WSU stars Ryan Leaf, Jason Gesser and Jack Thompson โ€” turned out on a brisk, windy day at Martin Stadium.

  134. chawan_cut April 26, 2009 2:16 pm

    Garret,
Wazzu had that problem last year during the regular season. Thats not good for them if they still haven’t gotten more players for the spring practice.

  135. Garret April 26, 2009 2:17 pm

Fresno State’s offense had success in their Spring Game like UH’s offense had in the Warrior Bowl…partly because both defenses played base schemes. They have a freshman QB that will be used mostly as a runner.

With the help of a scaled-back defense, the offense put on a show in the Bulldogs’ annual Spring Game, defeating the defense 86-31. The offense dominated and made impressive plays on nearly every drive.

A large reason for the success: The defense played mostly with a base alignment and blitzed sparingly.

Feathers was, as expected, most impressive with his legs. The redshirt freshman ran for 126 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries. One of his runs was a 62-yard score on an option to the right. He was 2 of 5 through the air for 40 yards.

  136. Garret April 26, 2009 2:18 pm

NMSU’s new QBs struggled this spring and neither has seized the starting QB spot.

But the redshirt freshman Walls and junior college transfer Jeff Fleming weren’t sharp passing the ball, both going 4-for-16 each for just 55 yards combined. Both are battling for a spot to replace three-year starter Chase Holbrook.

“We feel like we have two starters,” Walker said. “The quarterback position is an area we have to progress in and the passing game is an area we need to continue to get better at.”

  137. Garret April 26, 2009 2:23 pm

    chawan_cut,

It will take several recruiting classes for Washington State to recover from the hole they are in due to the loss of players and poor recruiting classes in the past…with them playing UH early in the season, they really will be low on depth.

Later in the season Washington State will really be hurt if they have any injuries, since they have no depth. However, early in the season, their players joining in the Fall will still be trying to get up to speed. The Warriors would beat them either way I think!

  138. Garret April 26, 2009 2:38 pm

New England lost their long-snapper from last season, so Ingram fills a big need for them.

New England took long snapper Jake Ingram of Hawaii with the 198th overall pick. Ingram should replace the departed Lonnie Paxton.

  139. Garret April 26, 2009 2:39 pm

This paper has a profile of Ingram.

JAKE INGRAM: Long snapper, Hawaii, 6-3, 232, 25th pick in the sixth round, 198th overall.

He began his college career as a defensive lineman, was pressed into duty as a long snapper his freshman season and developed into one of the best in the country. He was one of only two long snappers invited to the NFL Combine. With Lonie Paxton having moved on to Denver, Ingram will vie with Nathan Hodel, who was signed away from St. Louis, for the long snapperโ€™s job.

He was praised by scouts for having outstanding balance and having considerable zip on his snaps. He also was extremely accurate. Scouts say he will need to bulk up and gain strength to compete in the NFL.

Re Ingram- I remember a band director telling #3 son about a person who went through college on a music scholarship by playing the cymbals. Son was disappointed that he was not chosen to play snare. He played cymbals beautifully in the Rose and Macy parades in 2005.

Josh is going to play in the NFL because he sacrificed his favorite position and perfected a specialty. That is awesome!

I counted 16? refs at the scrimmage. Is that the norm? The one that looked like homey made a bad call and marked the ball a yard short on one play near the sideline where I was. He was slow of foot and got there late. Makai should have contested the call.

I was also near where Stuz2 caught that bomb. It brought back memories of Mathew Harding who also caught a pass in the same spot many years ago.

Good observation on the refs. Thanks to the aloha of coach Mack, we local high school refs use games like this as a sort of training clinic under the supervision of our 4 local WAC refs. Its really an honor for us and hones our skills for the high school game.

Here’s a list of players drafted from non-conference opponents of the Warriors for 2007, 2008, and 2009:

    2007
    Northern Colorado…..0
    UNLV….. 1
    Charleston Sourthern….. 0
    Washington….. 0
    Georgia….. 6

    2008
    Florida….. 3
    Weber State….. 1
    Oregon State….. 7
    Washington State….. 1
    Cincinnati….. 6
    Notre Dame….. 1 ๐Ÿ˜€

    2009
    Central Arkansas….. 0
    Washington State….. 1
    UNLV….. 1
    Navy….. 0
    Wisconsin….. 4

You have to admit that the 2008 Oregon State & Cincinnati (and UGa) teams were fairly deep in NFL drafted players.
For 2007 & 2008 – It’s probably fairer to compare total players drafted for the last two seasons, or some sort of running average. That will have to wait for a later time….

WSU will be a formidable opponent in Seattle.

The comment that WSU wont have depth early is unsubstantiated and untraditional early-season thought.
It is the later part of the season when most teams stagger.
The exception is Hawaii, we will discuss that later.

WSU limped into Honolulu last year with a team decimated with injuries and mistake-riddled Hawaii team was fortunate to stave-off a relentless cougar come-back.

Paul Wuff cites a good eight-week cycle of training (Jan-Mar) and a productive Spring.
Coach Wuff is placing emphasis on the Hawaii game and said ” Hawaii is a good game for us early in the season”. Wuff also noted, Hawaii is an important state for cougar recruiting.

“In regards to recruiting Hawaii, it is a very important state for us. Over the years we have had some successful WSU student-athletes come to Pullman and have very successful careers. A couple of examples would be Jason Gesser in football and Derrick Low in basketball. We’re very excited to have our new addition in Jordan Pu’u Robinson”.

WSU recruited 15 freshman in its 2009 class with ratings above 70, Hawaii had 6.

The warriors are notorious bad starters.

C’mon, we dont have a good sart record–REM 200 and 2004–we lost our opening games at home against D1AA teams, Portland State and Florida Atlantic.
Last year we got pulverized in da swamp, the year before at Tuscaloosa. There were early games against USC and MSU.

We lost to NEV in 2001 on our first road trip and BYU in 2002.
In fact you have to go back to 1992 and 1994 under Waggs when we beat oregon and Calif in their house.

Look, i want to beat WSU on the road as much as anyone, but it wont be done with spurrious supposition and boastin bravado.
Paul Wuff is rebuilding and despite ALL the problems surrounding the cougar football program he is making progress and has a strong contingent of redshirts as well as underclass starters returning.

We should focus on our boyz and make sure they spend more time in the weight room than the kitchen.

  170. Willie April 26, 2009 5:16 pm

Not a surprising comment on Kiper talking out of his okole about Colt without the benefit of seeing his workout. Same thing as Craig James talking negative about Warrior football in Colt’s senior year when he never saw a game.

This must be how you become an ESPN football analyst, you are so good that by divine ability you can speak without having to actually see a team or player in action.

Can’t wait to see where Adam & Solly sign free agent deals.

  171. Garret April 26, 2009 5:44 pm

    warriorfanny2,

I agree that it is normally best to play a team with depth problems late in the season, like how UH got Washington State late last season. Depth will again be a problem for Washington State late this season if they have injuries.

However, there is a big advantage in facing Washington State early this season. They have a lack of depth for upperclassmen because of problems due to APR, injuries, players transferring out, and players being kicked out of school in the past few years…the main reason for their lack of depth. You correctly point out that they had a good recruiting season, but are true freshmen going to be fully adjusted to their system and to D-I speed at the start of the season? Those freshmen will be quite good in future years, and probably will be greatly improved by the midway point in the season (which would take away the advantage of playing them later in the season)…but if you are expecting all of those highly-rated freshmen to play well to start the season you are asking a lot of them.

Anyway, it doesn’t matter when it would be best to play Washington State. My personal opinion is that the beginning and the end of the season is best, as I think they will be strongest during the middle part of their schedule. The important thing is that the Warriors will have to play well to win, especially since they will be on the road.

Does playing in Seattle take away some of the home advantage for Wazzoo? They may not get as many fans as they could in their home stadium, and Seattle is much easier for UH fans to get to. Plus, there is a huge Hawaii club at U-Dub and I’d hope that they and the other Hawaii transplants in the area would go to the game to support UH. Or that some U-Dub fans go to the game to cheer against Wazzoo.

  172. Garret April 26, 2009 5:45 pm

Washington State’s current lack of depth (and the opportunity for freshmen to get immediate playing time) was demonstrated by how they had to end their scrimmages early because they didn’t have enough healthy players.

  173. Garret April 26, 2009 5:56 pm

    Liz,

The reps that Colt needs in preseason could end up being split with Chase Daniel, which would be really bad. It seems to me that one of the 4 Washington QBs needs to go…either Colt beats out Daniels, or Colt wins the #2 QB job and they let the veteran go. However, if Colt was #2 and Daniels was #3, Washington would have a big problem with a lack of experience behind Campbell.

Daniels choosing Washington means that he (or his agent) decided that his best shot at making a team is by beating out Colt. Colt will have battles now for the #2 and #3 QB spots…that training camp should be interesting and Washington just added an element of competition instead of staying pat with their QB lineup.

  174. warriorfanny2 April 26, 2009 5:57 pm

Look, WSU aint goin to beat themselves, like u suggest, Hawaii will have to get out on the field and kick their butts to win.

I dont buy your “our enemy is weak theory”, nether does MAC.
It’s all theory and talk—u fail to mention who returns, redshirts, etc.
We are losing 9 starters on D and return an OL that led the nation in sacks allowed.

Im excited as much as anyone about 2009 football prospects,
Let’s be real, our OL needs to improve dramatically to warrant any kind of optimism on the road against WSU, LaT, NEV and SJSU or at home against Boise State, Fresno State, Navy and Wisc.

We saw some dicipline in the Warrior Bowl and that is a great start in the right direction.
We need to see positive results from our final summer-cycle
weight-training-conditioning program and successful pass-technique execution.

Conditioning and execution need to get-up to higher levels to walk the talk u r boasting..

  175. Garret April 26, 2009 5:59 pm

Chase Daniel sees the situation as their are 4 QBs in Washington and only 3 spots.

โ€œI leave Thursday to go out for minicamp,โ€ Daniel said. โ€œ(Redskins assistant) Chris Meidt was the guy that worked me out at the combine, and he really liked me. I talked to (head) coach (Jim) Zorn a couple of times. Iโ€™m excited about the opportunity they presented.โ€

The Redskins list three quarterbacks on their roster: Starter Jason Campbell, veteran backup Todd Collins and second-year player Colt Brennan. โ€œThey have three quarterbacks, and any three can make the team,โ€ Daniel said. โ€œIโ€™m excited about whatโ€™s going to happen.โ€

  176. Garret April 26, 2009 6:08 pm

    warriorfanny2,

This might surprise you, but I do not disagree with anything you wrote in post #174. I’m not saying that Washington State will beat themselves, I’m just engaging in a discussion of what part of the season it would be best in theory to face Washington State.

By the way, I’m pretty obsessive about the Warriors so you should know that I have looked at who is returning for Washington State (including the redshirts), what recruits they have coming in…heck, even the state of the finances of their Athletic Department! That is the first game of the 3-game road trip, against a Pac-10 team, so a win would be very important for the Warriors. I’m glad that the Warriors open with UCA and have an extra day of preparation for the road trip.

The great strides that the players have made under the coaches this spring would be wasted if the Warriors do not work hard in the weight training and conditioning program, I agree. But you have a lot of hungry players who are fighting for their spots in the lineup, and the coaches did a great job of getting depth at positions to provide competition…do you think they aren’t going to bust their okole to be ready for Fall camp?

  177. Garret April 26, 2009 6:11 pm

I didn’t realize that the Patriots signed a vet long-snapper this offseason. They aren’t going to just hand Ingram the position, but drafting him in the 6th round gives an indication of how they value him. That is no guarantee they will give the job to Jake–he’ll have to earn the spot.

the Patriots drafted Jake Ingram out of Hawaii. Ingram will likely compete with Nathan Hodel, who signed with the Patriots as a free agent in the offseason.

Koakane had the place cleaned and HiFlyer, Ralph and Homey had the tent up and were starting up the grill. Everyone else (like SJmacro and Myki) was EATING already!

As new and familiar faces kept showing up, the volume of fun kept inching up. At around 2pm, I wondered aloud whether we were going to get to the Spring Game! The time just had flown by!!! We loved meeting and greeting the new and nearly new faces…Sailor Blue and Janice, the Colomaohana’s, Platypus…and names I stay forget already!

  191. BG April 26, 2009 7:20 pm

I came away from the Spring Game with optimism for the following reasons:

    1. The O-line looked much better. There were too many times last year when DE’s were just blowing by the tackles. The pick-ups of blitzes were better than last season. Did not see a of lot of mental errors like off-sides for the starting units.

    2. The QB’s were quicker with their decisions and the wr’s were getting open and making some tough catches. Last year there were quizzical looks between QB’s and WR’s at times when both were not on the same page. I was impressed that Stuz2 and Austin both read the same thing on the long TD…and they are not veterans! QB’s were completing long and mid-range passes and not settling just for dinks and dunks. Probably, the improved work of the O-line helped hugely.

    3. The running backs did well…especially, LWJ and Funaki…and that’s another positive aspect of the O-line.

    4. All that offense was disturbing in that I was getting worried about the D. Usually, in a spring game, the defense is ahead of the O. So, now my question is…”Is the offense that good or is the defense bad?” I’d guess that the answer is somewhere in between…but where? Lots and lots of fertile ground for fans for the next 3 months!

    5. I also liked the attitudes of the players and coaches. Very business like and not out of control energy. No cheap shots and chest pounding. Good stuff.

    layson:

Good to hear that Michelle did well on the last day. Too bad Lorena is playing so well as she always does in this tournament.

ahouse, michelle did play well today, but there really was no pressure on her as the tourney was a two way race between lorena ochoa(25 under) the winner and suzann pettersen(24 under) the runner up. wie is still learning how to handle the pressure when in contention and one day she will learn how to win on the lpga, as she has been close many times. competition is good, lorena has paid her dues and has overcome the mental obstacles in the past that prevented her from winning several years back and has learned how to win. for the ladies on lpga, you want to see the best players compete, show mental toughness, and win based on their own merit. if ochoa is playing well, so be it, michelle just has to play better, nobody is going to give it to her, one day she will just have to earn the win. maybe this year or next, she will have that chance.

  194. BG April 26, 2009 7:39 pm

LizK…looking forward to seeing you again soon!

As far as the Redskins go…that’s a strange team. They really need O-line help. I think Zorn has to determine whether Colt is going to be #2 (at least) this year. So he’ll have to play Colt lots…as he has said he will. CB should get his chance. If they don’t give him a good look this season, they’ll have to trade him or end up losing him when his contract runs out next year since CB is unlikely to sign a new contract or extension if he feels he hasn’t had a fair shot. Now that he knows the offense and is healthy, I’d be very confident that he’ll show very well when given the opportunity. That’ll mean a QB controversy in Washington. Should be interesting!

    BG..

I suppose it’s time for them to let Todd Collins go. Move Colt and Chase up a notch and have the two compete with Jason for the job. Colt and Chase as the future of the Redskins isn’t all that bad a setup. Zorn needs to have a winning season next year and be in the playoffs. I don’t know if he can afford to play Jason if he starts losing games like he did last season. (although a lot had to do with injuries to other players on the Redskin Offense 1st team).

Mahalo Garret, mih and BG for the ‘Skins chat. My best case scenario for the future is that Zorn picks it up with the two spread-experienced QBs and they bring a smile back to the faces of fans who remember how it felt when Slingin’ Sammy ruled:
“He brought not just victories but thrills and ignited Washington with a passion even the worst Redskins periods can barely diminish.”
He was the first to play the position of quarterback as it is played today, the first to make of the forward pass an effective weapon rather than an “act of desperation”

  199. roysan16 April 26, 2009 8:15 pm

for the current UH players that have aspirations to play at the next level

    1. train hard throughout the summer
    2. shine during the season,
exhibit super athleticism where scouts take note,
    have a big time motor
    3. receive all league recognition
    3. receive an invite to the senior bowl
    4. receive an invite to the nfl combine
    5. do well in Uh pro day

have no character issues or problematic medical histories no substance abuse or alcohol problems
do well in school, speak well in interviews with the media

these are basically the steps of how former warriors made it to the nfl,

for david, ryan, josh that was the path they took and the hard work got them drafted, which is the beginning of the next cycle

the scouts were influenced of how well each performed at the combine and pro day. And probably how each comes across as having great attitudes, for you can see this as they played at UH. For they didn’t come across as being grandiose, but as team players. And scouts noticed this too, I’ll bet.

for david the cleveland organization assimilating all his variables looked at his wonderlick score of 28 and are convinced he’s smart enough to learn a new position and schemes. That’s exactly what the cleveland gm said in an interview.

for ryan the coaches looked at his explosiveness just under 11 ft in the broad jump, and 40 plus in the vertical and liked what they saw

for jake he worked his tail off too, like david and ryan. As a long snapper, much of his practice is solitary where Ive read where he spends a lot of time perfecting his technique.

so for next years warriors that are looking at the next level strive on being the best and hopefully everything falls in place like it did for david, ryan and jake. For this to happen it takes a lot of talent merged with dedication and hard work. And a deep conviction that you are worthy.

better get your tickets for the Haw-LaT series starting THURS at the LES….it will be a wild-affair.

Bowz need to take this series to stay ahead in an ever tightening WAC race that wont be decided until the last game in the final week of play.

NEV, NMS, SJSU have turned the WAC regular season championship into a 4-team race…but the other 3–fsu, LaT and SAC are dangerous.

NEV returns to play after a week-4 bye and will play 4 in Fresno.
SJSU is at SAC and NMS is Wac-idle.

Kolt is on a 16 game hitting-streak and is among WAC leaders w 61 hits that includes 8 HRs, 2 trips and 15 doubles to go along with 35 runs and 34 rbis.
kolt has a team high .363 BA and passed Vinnie for the first time this season.

    Vinnie has a .361 BA w 9 HRs and 33 rbis.

Kevin McDonald continues to amaze and has raised his BA to .281 w 11 HRs while driving in 50 runs.
McD is among the WACs 10 best power hitters.
He is #3 in KOs w 44–so u have an equal chance of seeing Kevin whiff as u would see him knockin in runs….but his swings still draw ouuuuus, even when he misses!

In fact when Vinnie #3, Kevin #4 and Kolt #5 are batting–stay in your seat–they have 163 hits, 105 runs, 28 Hrs and 117 rbi’s combined.

I’m curious now. Over the years, a lot of UH players have made it to the pros. Are there any position(s) that has/have never been drafted from UH to the NFL?

  215. Kekoa April 26, 2009 9:48 pm

So WF2, how was your golf game today. Did you make some decent golf shots? Did you roll in any tricky putts. Did you win any greenies, or did you just drink ’em?

WF2 might have been just telling us a story. I think he’s too busy digging up stats on the Warrior teams to have any time for golf.

    Is that so WF2?

How about it BHF2 did you get any golf in today?

    http://www.prioritysports.biz/football/contracts.html

I’ve heard so much about Kenny Zuckerman, especially now that he’s the agent for Veikune, Mouton, Maiva and last year for Bess-that I was interested in reading more about him.

    From the above web site-

As President of Athlete Representation at Priority Sports & Entertainment, Kenny is involved in all aspects of client representation, specializing in contract negotiations. Also, Kenny has earned a reputation for the development and planning comprehensive combine training programs which help players perform at their highest levels and escalate their draft status.

Priority Sports has relationships with the top trainers around the country that will help our players prepare for College All-Star Games, the NFL Combine, and Pre-Draft Workouts.

These are a few of the examples of players he represents.

ISAAC SOPOAGA (San Francisco 49ers) One of highest paid backups – Five-year contract worth $20,000,000 including $7,000,000 in guaranteed money

OLIN KREUTZ (Chicago Bears) Perennial Pro Bowler – Three-year contract extension for $25,000,000 with a $9,000,000 signing bonus.

DOMINIC RAIOLA (Detroit Lions) Highest-paid non Pro Bowler at his position – Five-year contract for $17,500,000 with over $5,100,000 in the first year.

At one time he represented Travis Laboy. The odyssey behind this story is that he helped Travis’ brother into the business, only to have Travis fire KZ and go with the brother’s company.

My favorite quote came last year when I heard Davone Bess saying his agent, KZ, thought it best that he sign a free agent deal for less monies in exchange with a greater chance of making the team. That worked.

And then you look at Hercules, Samson and Jason Rivers and wonder if their careers would have gone differently if they had signed with KZ instead.

Look at the Ashley Lelie oddysey:

    From Yahoo-

It’s an example of how not to handle your career.

According to a source, Lelie didn’t listen to the advice of long-time agent Michael Sullivan, who told Lelie that the best way to approach 2006 was to stay with the Broncos. Lelie’s deep speed fit the Broncos offense, even if Denver went after another receiver and made Lelie a No. 3 receiver. If Lelie, who is in the final year of his contract, had merely put up 40 to 50 catches for 700 or 800 yards, he would have had some projectable statistics to use in free agency.

Instead, Lelie insisted on the trade, fired Sullivan when it wasn’t done quickly enough and hired current agent Peter Schaffer with the same directive.

Lelie, who reportedly paid nearly $1 million to get out of his contract with the Broncos, has now jumped from Atlanta to Oakland….

And probably not many more stops more. And you wonder how having a agent with a hands on approach with better directives and advice, like KZ, could have steered AL in a better direction.

Whatever KZ is doing in doing in negotiating as much money for his clients, and as an observer, you’d have to agree it’s working.

Whatever advice he imparts to his clients that seems to be working, too.

For Veikune, Mouton and Maiva I think are in good hands with KZ.

  233. Garret April 27, 2009 5:31 am

Bill Belichick praised Jake Ingram in the Boston Globe.

Showing the value that they place on special teams, the Patriots used a sixth-round pick (No. 198) on Hawaii long snapper Jake Ingram. The 6-3, 232-pound Ingram will provide competition for Nathan Hodel as Lonie Paxton’s replacement.

“He’s an athletic guy, a little bit smaller than some of the snappers in the league, but maybe a little bit more athletic than some of the snappers in the league,” said Belichick. “Experienced guy, he can block, he can cover pretty well. His snaps are accurate and they have good velocity. I think that he’ll be competitive for that position. We felt like he was a top player at his position in the draft.”

  234. Garret April 27, 2009 5:32 am

The Portland Press Herald mentioned that Ingram was drafted by New England with a pick they got from a trade yesterday.

On the second day of the NFL draft the Patriots traded starting cornerback Ellis Hobbs to the Philadelphia Eagles for two fifth-round picks.

They promptly shipped those two picks to the Baltimore Ravens for a fourth-round pick, which they used to take offensive lineman Rich Ohrnberger of Penn State, and a sixth-round pick, which became long snapper Jake Ingram of Hawaii.

  235. Garret April 27, 2009 5:38 am

The USC kicker that was drafted yesterday had an amazing stat in this article.

Buehler’s un-kicker-like build (6-2, 227) and background as a safety, linebacker and fullback make him a candidate to play on the punt and kickoff-return teams โ€” and should make it easier for the Cowboys to find room on the roster for a second placekicker.

Buehler took the unusual step of lifting and running at the scouting combine, where he showed off his strength (25 bench-press reps) and speed (4.62 in the 40) and clearly caught the Cowboys’ attention.

To put this in perspective, according to the TV folks, USC’s kicker benched more than USC LBs Clay Matthews and Rey Maualuga, and he ran a better 40 at the Combine.

thats exactly what Colt is gonna get this summer, a chance. for whatever reason, Jason Campbell is not stirring the crowd in DC. he’s got the build and bodytype, but his it factor is not a big IT. Colt’s got IT, now that he’s had one year under his belt, we’ll know how big his IT is.

  259. warriorfanny2 April 27, 2009 9:39 am

I wouldnt place much stock in the cable-pundits who slight Hawaii’s draft success.
MAC & staff are armed with these type of program accomplishments and use it extensively while recruiting.
Ryan Mouton’s draft selection in the third round as a DB will especially help our recruiting as we continue to grow our secondary, a key unit in taking our D up a notch….Mouton’s selection in the 3rd round and 94th overall was HUGE!

Ryan is the first HAWAII DB drafted since ’86 and ’85 when Kafentzis and Miano were selected and Hawaii’s highest DB drafted since Jerris White was selected in the 1974 2nd round.

No doubt MAC & staff will use Mouton’s NFL draft success as solid currency to acquire more quality DBs to play for our warrior D….ESPN? C’mon we have bigger issues to brew!

Thankyou Mr Mouton for your contribution….konkrads and best wishes in the NFL.

  260. warriorfanny2 April 27, 2009 9:57 am

    Z-man’s lament:
He has a robo-QB w the physical assests but absent mental psyche.
He has a QB with the mental psyche but throws side-armed, a no-no in Z-land.
Now, he has drafted a QB with both, but who maybe too short.

eh, Snyder, me thinks u need annada coach.

I counted 16? refs at the scrimmage. Is that the norm? The one that looked like homey made a bad call and marked the ball a yard short on one play near the sideline where I was. He was slow of foot and got there late. Makai should have contested the call.

There’s a ref that looks like me and slow of foot??? ๐Ÿ˜†

  264. warriorfanny2 April 27, 2009 10:19 am

it’s obvious that Boise State develops their players to their maximum.
That speaks volumes to their program.
Their off-season training-cycles and summer-commit by players to remain on campus is freeking outstanding.
Their coaching staff equally outstanding and committed.

The success at Boise State is neither coincidental nor aberrational.
It is well-grounded in every application of administration, community support and athletic development.

Ummmm, where is the t-spot located?

  277. Richie April 27, 2009 11:23 am

It sounds like Solomon Elimimian will have a try-out with the Buffalo Bills. It does not sound like a free agent contract, although I could be mistaken. Any word yet on Adam Leonard?

  278. Colomaohana April 27, 2009 11:25 am

The Marketplace at Kapolei, near Hickam FCU, en Fuego (yummy poke…), Ho Ho’s Chinese Cuisine…..

No problem Mama C. No fogit, Diana comes from a family of 9 not so very petite Hawaiians. Fear factor kicks in wen kids get outta hand!

  280. Jack Flash April 27, 2009 11:45 am

    Florida Ted- Auryte!
Homey- weird that the perennial WAC powerhouse just doesn’t seem to get many players to the next level. You’d think it would affect recruiting.

  281. homey ℞ April 27, 2009 11:50 am

Jack Flash – Doesn’t Boise also recruit comparable rated players as the Warriors? Someone in the Warrior family must have good NFL connections to get the players recognized.

  282. A-House April 27, 2009 11:53 am

So i guess if all one aspires to be is a collegiate star, then Boise St. football makes sense huh?

  288. Jack Flash April 27, 2009 12:51 pm

Sounds like Solly will get his shot at the NFL. Best of luck to him and the others who weren’t drafted.

  289. Kekoa April 27, 2009 12:52 pm

Mr. A-House & Rob25 ~ Do you have accomodations for Vegas already? There is a super duper deal for large 2 bdr Condo’s for military personnel. Drop me a line if interested.

  290. Jack Flash April 27, 2009 12:55 pm

E-Rob gets a shot too. Although after watching him get torched all day at the Hawaii Bowl by Notre Dame, i don’t know…

  291. Bulla April 27, 2009 1:18 pm

congrats to all who are headed to the NFL ๐Ÿ™‚

  292. A-House April 27, 2009 1:40 pm

    Kekoa:

Thanks for the headsup, but we will be staying at the golden Nugget.

  293. Piper's son April 27, 2009 4:24 pm

I don’t always agree with what WarriorFanny has to say but he does make the point – something I had always felt but never really articulated – that Boise’s team plays as a discipline team and that is mainly the reason for its success.

Hawaii has individual stars as demonstrated by the NFL draft but they had not shown that they are as disciplined as witnessed by the penalties we had last year.

If everyone isn’t on the same page, we will have problems.

I’m confident that Coach Mac will ironed these things out.

  294. consultant April 27, 2009 7:35 pm

Ryan Mouton, is a great player.

    Washington Redskins

C โ€” It’s obvious the Redskins have lost faith in Jason Campbell. They tried to trade for veteran Jay Cutler, and Saturday, they tried to move up for Mark Sanchez. They ended up with Brian Orakpo, who will play strongside linebacker on running downs and end on obvious passing downs.
