Day-after musings

• For UH fans, the best thing about last night’s comeback was nobody in the UH locker room was happy. Not head coach Norm Chow, whose team finally saw the light on offense and defense. Not Sean Schroeder, who nearly engineered an historic comeback. Not any of the receivers, linemen nor defensive players. The Rainbow Warriors thought they could have won the game, and they were ticked that they didn’t. Given the option, UH rejected the moral victory.

• Schroeder has long earned admiration for being able to absorb hits. (See: Two concussions and an offseason back surgery.) Last night, he drew praise for his play and leadership. Schroeder’s a stand-up guy who never complained about his role publicly. His mantra is to not worry about “external factors.” It could not have been easy for a quarterback who lost his No. 1 job and co-captaincy. Schroeder proved that not all leaders need titles.

• As it turned out, the quarterback sequence — Ikaika Woolsey starting and Schroeder in the bullpen — had merit. Would Woolsey have provided a similar spark coming off the sideline? That’s the sort of debate that keeps blogs awake at night. While Schroeder has earned the right to start, the Woolsey project had glimpses of promise. Woolsey’s powerful arm stretches defenses; his scrambling eases the burden on the offensive line. Last night, Schroeder was able to look in one direction, then throw to the other. That comes from experience. Woolsey, whose odometer is at one week, will get better with more game reps.

• Tight end Jordan Pu‘u-Robinson’s knee injury forced the Warriors to go with four-wide sets in the second half. That might be a strategy repeated as Pu‘u-Robinson faces a possible season-ending situation. Tight end Harold Moleni, who did not play while recovering from a concussion, is expected to be available for Saturday’s game against San Jose State.

• Welcome back, Billy Ray.

Coach made sure the players never gave up. That is what the fans want with a win next week against San Jose St..

Gant was amazing, bettering balls and outfighting DBs. Schroeder took what the defense gave him & made the most of his opportunities. But what did the “comeback” really mean when DeRuyter — echoing Chow (“Fresno State had a big lead so they played soft coverages and Sean was able to work with that”) — admitted the Bulldogs went to prevent as they rolled in 2s just as Schroeder took the field? (DeRuyter: “That’s what you want them to do. You want them to burn the clock. They had 1 timeout left. We wanted to keep [everything] in front of us and not let them throw the ball over the top.” Bee: “[W]hen Hawaii marched out reserve quarterback Schroeder in place of starter Ikaika Woolsey, [t]he Bulldogs started turning to their bench on defense too.” ) It means Schroeder gets a shot to notch Hawaii’s first win against the very beatable Spartans (1-3, lone win over Sac State).Gant was amazing, bettering balls and outfighting DBs. As a fan this team despite the record has made me feel less upset with losing than any other team. I hope that light stays permanently on then i think this game will be the turn around in this season.

    Seriously…???

  17. iwonderwhytheyhateme September 29, 2013 8:14 am

I’m kinda neutral on the subject of “moral victories,” but what we did last night was a win somewhere, in some way. Lots to be proud of.

There were some negatives, but there were a ton of positives to move forward with and work off of. The play calling seemed a lot less conservative once SS got in. Thank goodness for that.

As I said yesterday, I did not have this much fun watching a UH football game in many years.

    Imua Warriors!

  18. Bugaz September 29, 2013 8:16 am

Coach Naeole needs to bring in some serious oline studs this recruiting season. Hopefully he does, cause this team has great potential.

  19. Bugaz September 29, 2013 8:20 am

Only Milovale is a Senior so there is already going to be continuity, just need guys coming in that can push the group to get better with every snap.

  20. markazulu September 29, 2013 8:20 am

No #16 i was joking lol i just saw it on the news that kiffin was fired.

  21. Fan September 29, 2013 8:24 am

The second half of the third quarter and the fourth quarter took me back to those days when Aloha Stadium used to rock with excitement. The crowd went from dead to completely captivated by the game and there seemed to be a reciprocal dynamism between the efforts of the team and the excitement of the fans. It was great to be there and the most enjoyable game to watch in recent memory. Should we be content with a loss? Of course not. But the team (especially the offense) seemed to transition out of the ponderous slow motion that they had been beset with into an electric and exciting display. The crowd was small but even in its sparseness it gave its’ all and you could feel the energy. It was a glimpse of what is possible for the team and for us as UH fans. Imua!

  22. Bugaz September 29, 2013 8:24 am

I watched Kapoi throughout this past game against Waianae he was the pulling guard creating some holes, but Waianae LB were filling them up quick thereafter. Ronald Matautia is everywhere coming up big.

  23. kev-1 September 29, 2013 8:24 am

So then ST . . . what do we make of the QB situation going forward regarding the spark off the bench? Does the Woolsey project end, and go with Schroeder? Or, do you go in with the same game plan? I know the excitement is to go with Schroeder, but then what happens with Woolsey’s development?

  24. kev-1 September 29, 2013 8:26 am

Maybe last night was a moral victory for the fans.

  25. RedZone September 29, 2013 8:26 am

Carr is one scary quarterback. I see him playing on sundays. Our defense shut out Fresno in the 4th quarter and got all those turnovers. Minus our turnover the game would have been ours. Our oline gave Sean the time he needed and he made some big time throws. He gave our receivers the opportunity to show what they can do. And they did.

    How about that Billy Ray.

  26. oneseason September 29, 2013 8:29 am

Great Job Rainbow Warriors! … Coaches, Offense, Defense, and Special Teams working together to succeed …

“During UH’s big comeback, the Warriors forced four Bulldog turnovers – two interceptions and two fumbles which led to three scores. Hawai’i’s first four touchdowns averaged 33 seconds in length while three of its drives lasted only two plays.”

    Back to reality. 0-4.

Great game for those that stuck around and those that didn’t switch channels. Heart break for the team. Close but no cigar. The coaches have a big job this week refilling the team’s emotional gas tank.

The lesson the team should have learned is they have been their own worst enemy. The offense can’t play defense on itself and the defense can’t aid the other team’s offense.

Untimely penalties plus mental errors exponentially increase the effect of physical errors(which happens to every team).

Hope the next game is a new begiining. When the team starts playing “Chow Ball” as it was meant to be played.

  30. Bugaz September 29, 2013 8:36 am

So nice to see Stutz getting in the mix.

  31. RedZone September 29, 2013 8:39 am

When Woolsey was in the game and came to the sidelines Sean was there cheering him on.

  32. Stephen Tsai September 29, 2013 8:40 am

    Kev-1:

I think Schroeder starts, but Woolsey will play, too.

It was suggested that Woolsey probably should have been brought in for the Hail Mary passes.

  33. tommui September 29, 2013 8:41 am

    GOOD MORNING HAWAII!

The results last night shows why I am not not a Monday quarterback.

Watching football for some 62 or 63 years; knowing coaches way back like Jimmy Asato, Holmes, Price to present day, even playing computer games relating to football, to have me determine who should be quarterback or playing receivers or on the line, is a bit above my pay-grade.

It may be fun but totally unproductive.

  34. PolyMom September 29, 2013 8:41 am

Last night even though we had to watch the ESPN game box, this team is finally getting it! So proud of these kids. It’s time to move forward…and FIGHT for some wins. The D-Line was great! I was texting with the big boy until 2:30.

    IMUA Warriors!

  35. kev-1 September 29, 2013 8:42 am

Whatever happens, he can’t go back to just running the scout team. He needs significant practice snaps.

  36. jeezy33 September 29, 2013 8:42 am

Impressed by the run blocking. I think we abandoned the run a little too early up the middle but holding calls didnt help at costly times in red zone.

  37. Whats up September 29, 2013 8:44 am

Great game! the offense was always opened up this season, the primary problem was the QB position to run the offense and lead/inspire the team. Yes, the O line is still suspect but the RB’s and WR’s have stepped it up, finally. If just somehow Naole can fix the porous O line.

I know I said that Woosley should start and I was wrong about that, Chow was right Ikaika will have his time he still needs to learn from the upper class men. I was so wrong about that!

Sean Schroeder proved that he is the #1 QB on the roster with more game experience than all the other QB’s combined and it showed last night. Taylor Graham (when healthy) and Sean Schroeder will be battling it out for the starting job, this is not a bad thing because Hawaii has some depth with 2 QB’s that can run the offense.

And for those Rolo fans that say Nevada had it’s 3rd string in the game and Rolo game planned for it? Well, Chow had his 4th string QB (Woosley) in and injuries and then his 2nd string (Schroeder) against a superior opponent in undefeated Fresno State. Although, Sean didn’t bring Hawaii back all the way from a 39 point deficit in a quarter in a half. Chow flexible game planning worked!

We all know that Sean Schroeder has the heart of a champion but last night against all odds coming in the game half way through the 3rd quarter cold. Sean came in and heated up the stagnate offense and lifted the spirits of the defense and played like a Champion.

  38. kev-1 September 29, 2013 8:44 am

One thing that I did notice last night, and this is in great contrast to what Chow-haters say, Coach Chow coaches up his players on the sidelines. On several occasions I saw him pull players aside to explain things. I know its what coaches should do, but it was nice to see. Just imagine how much they are learning from someone who has coached for so long.

  39. kev-1 September 29, 2013 8:45 am

Jeezy . . . second to the last drive needed a run up the middle on the first play. Still had time. That 3 and out was crucial.

  40. pu'uwai September 29, 2013 8:45 am

    Aloha kakahiaka.

I was able to listen to the last 2 minutes on my car radio… The sound of the 12th Man said it all…

I’m actually sad to hear that the locker room ambience was bummed and not gratefully joyful.

I hope that the team will be able to identify the elements and the unifying energy that made the second half successful and increase those for the next game and the next and the rest of the season.

    Focus on the positive.

    Overcome the fear of success.

Be Rainbow Warriors…. United in diversity, united in adversity, united in success!

See that your prediction about USC came true.

#38 – You are OK! There are some others who would not admit that they are (were) ever wrong.

  46. Da Punchbowl Kid September 29, 2013 9:00 am

The lights have come on. Warriors need to keep the fire in their bellies.

#33 – Stephen – that seems like a reasonable approach.

#34 – Judge Mui – I’m with you. Just relax and let the coaches coach, the players play and enjoy the moment.

I was seeing touch down passes in my dreams last night. 🙂 Thank you Warriors! Like PolyMom says, “It’s time to move forward… and FIGHT for some wins.” You know what you can be, Warriors, just do it!

Funny – I usually expect us to win, no matter what the game or circumstances, kind of like laws of attraction. But even my wife said I was unusually anxious before the game. I told her that I didn’t know why, but I knew things were going to be different…

    GO WARRIORS!!!

  47. manoa#1 September 29, 2013 9:05 am

Great to see Billy Ray back out there – seems like he added a spark to the receiving corps with just his presence.

Sean Schroeder epitomizes what a team mate and Warrior should be. Happy for him.

Finally, it was great team effort – we saw just how much heart this Warrior team has.

As for SS, what a game you played!! Hope this is your lights on moment that Rolo experienced. This is the continued improvement I was looking for since game 1 of this season.

The crowd that remained was awesome!!! So loud and supportive. Even gave the boys a standing O as they exited the field. Hopefully last night was the turning point of the Chow era.

It was nice to see Billy Ray back in the mix and it seemed that the WR’s chemistry with Sean Schroeder was on point.

The Hawaii defense is a beast! Putting the hurt on some really good teams this season. Keep it up boys!!

San Jose State has a pile of injuries on offense and defense. 2 of the 3 starting WR’s are injured, which should make it a little harder for David Fales to pick apart the Hawaii secondary.

San Jose State is a really good team, but this just might be Hawaii first chance at Aloha Stadium to get that first win.

Kiffin got fired because he inherit a Pete Carroll roster full of 5 star and 4 star talent. Just like ESPN is saying Kiffin rubbed the media and people the wrong way and has no excuse full a roster full on top talent on the nation. USC has had top 10-20 recruiting classes for over a decade and has no business being last place in the PAC 12, period!

Chow did not inherit a roster full of nationwide top talent, full of 5 star and 4 star talent, from McMackin did he? So stop the negative noise and go hug your McMackin blow up doll.

  67. Former UH Athlete September 29, 2013 9:44 am

40… Totally agree. Fresno was so spaced out on the last couple drives, they were wide open for a draw play.

Thinking big picture, this 2nd half was the thing that’s needed to kick start the offense. The biggest thing I saw last night was the WR confidence level. Once SS hit Gant (can’t really remember now) on the first big play, the whole WR corp got fired up and started making plays. SS actually threw a couple poor balls on the big ones, but the WRs went up and made plays. The 2nd deep ball to Gant was way under-thrown but he made a spectacular catch over the DB. In prior games, that would have been an incomplete pass at best. On Kirkwood’s TD the ball was a good 2 yards behind, but he turned and made a nice backpedaling catch and hung on as the defender tried to jar it loose.

I’ve been saying this WR group has very good talent, looks like they finally got the confidence to match their physical abilities. They have been getting open deep in each game but the QBs haven’t been able to connect or no time to throw.

After watching SJSU on Friday, next weeks game is winnable if the offense can just believe in their abilities. SJSU appears to have regressed under the new coaching staff, plus the defense has no speed to match UH’s WRs. Again, the key is the OL being able to give time to throw.

If sports is supposed to develop character as well as the physical qualities, Sean Schroeder is one of the best examples I’ve seen this far. The guy’s toughness is well known, he never complains, keeps a positive outlook and when his time came…he made the most of it. Most importantly, in my opinion, he left the field dissatisfied with his performance. This is the quintessential team mate and student with a high character. He’ll do well in life regardless of what he chooses to do, wherever he chooses to be.

  75. gmahoney September 29, 2013 10:05 am

Is it Saturday yet?

  76. papajoe2 September 29, 2013 10:07 am

Manoa#1,~most of us here on the blog are R Warrior faithful. At times we second guess coach Chow’s decisions but try to hang in there and still root for “our” team. Since you are “one of us” (faithful), maybe you should just do the same. After all its the only college team here on these beautiful islands. Bite your tongue if you have different opinions about what’s happening here. Go back to last night’s blog. Because I had guests over my house watching the game, I couldn’t get on the blog until after the game was over. I started to read where I left off and, already knowing the outcome of the game, John’s comments were hilarious. If you are John or even if you are not, you can read how foolish he seems. What you write here is permanent and may bite you in you butt in the future.

the small crowd that hung around through the rain till the end was very loud. great to see the die-hard fans and tremendous support from them every game. whatta great class-act crowd, and no booing (at least near our south end-zone seats) even after the pick-6, making the score 42-3.

  80. markazulu September 29, 2013 10:10 am

    Whats up:

    September 29th, 2013 at 9:36 am

    Manoa#1

Kiffin got fired because he inherit a Pete Carroll roster full of 5 star and 4 star talent. Just like ESPN is saying Kiffin rubbed the media and people the wrong way and has no excuse full a roster full on top talent on the nation. USC has had top 10-20 recruiting classes for over a decade and has no business being last place in the PAC 12, period!

Chow did not inherit a roster full of nationwide top talent, full of 5 star and 4 star talent, from McMackin did he? So stop the negative noise and go hug your McMackin blow up doll.

    ——

Eh, ask da jonj when he come back if he can lend da blowup doll to manoa1! I tink he get plenty.

  89. NorthShoreFan September 29, 2013 10:22 am

Hooo. what a game. went from down looooowww to screeching high…

I hope the Warriors have recovered their swag with this game. I hope they know what it takes to get the job done. I hope they know you can’t just show up and expect good things.

Seems they played on a whole different level than the first 3.

The game plan was to move things around for Woolsey and had some success but when SS came in and with regular pass protect he turned the lights out. Some communication gaps with receivers initially. Some went zig when he pass went zag but hopefully it’ll be worked out. Too much untimely penalties in the red zone. Went backwards too many times.

Keep working Warriors and good things will happen. Heal up and kick butt next week.

    IMUA WARRIORS!!!!

  90. OC Warrior September 29, 2013 10:25 am

It is amazing what a difference confidence can make. There have been much easier plays that Gant, BRS, and others have missed in the past. Schroeder seemed to try and make quicker decisions and just get the ball in a spot where his receivers had a chance to make a play. Since Chow started, there have been plays there but we just could not execute, the QB would make the throw and the WR would drop the ball or the WR would be wide open and the QB could not hit them. Last night was the first time against a quality opponent that I saw the whole offense on the same page and a look that they wanted the ball more than the opponent’s defense.

  91. Bowwar September 29, 2013 10:31 am

I can accept a loss when the team plays like it did towards the end…They never gave up and made a game of it with the 25th ranked team in the nation…There is HOPE!

  92. markazulu September 29, 2013 10:40 am

With 16 secs left i dont think we needed to go to the hail mary but i got no complaints though hell of an effort.

  93. papajoe2 September 29, 2013 10:48 am

Fresnil is now ranked #23. It has a horrible defense and a very weak schedule, but is undefeated. I don’t like them at all, but since we already played them and lost, I hope they win out and get us some of that BCS money.

  94. Old School Dave September 29, 2013 10:48 am

I like the fact that UH was not intimidated by Fresno and their #25 ranking and their All American QB (who comes as advertised).

Props to the team for not giving up. Sean Schroeder could be another Dan Robinson (beaten up in 98, redeemed himself in 99).

  95. Da green mask September 29, 2013 10:48 am

    Eh alright! top 100!

  96. Former UH Athlete September 29, 2013 10:49 am

If Kiffen is ok with taking $120k/yr, I’d be ok with having him on the UH staff. I think he’s a crappy coach, but he is a very strong recruiter. Coaches at high profile schools still have high profile recruiting connections. If nothing else, use Kiffen as a recruiting coordinator with OC title for a few years until he leaves for a bigger job.

It’s not like Kiffen is going to get any head coaching jobs anytime soon after 1yr at Oakland, ditching Tennessee after 1yr, and a total failure at USC. He will need to take a small job or sit out a few years before getting another HC opportunity.

  97. Fan September 29, 2013 10:50 am

Well I know he/she/it is annoying but I still think the best response to manoa#1/Steve/IT/lava or whatever the name, is no response. Although lightheartedness and amusement will probably be ok too. When the comments are taken seriously it feeds the need to engage in some sick and hateful interaction. So let’s have fun with it or ignore it.

  98. Old School Dave September 29, 2013 10:50 am

Don’t be down on Ikaika. He’s still young. Don’t forget about the rough starts other UH QBs had as young freshmen/sophomores – Ralph Cherry, Garrett Gabriel, Warren Jones, Michael Carter, among others.

  99. Bugaz September 29, 2013 10:54 am

    100

  100. Da green mask September 29, 2013 10:55 am

I was there in the front row, right behind Fresno. And we were rocking are seats in half baby! Haven’t felt those feelings in a very long time! Freaking awesome!!! Watch out Mountain West here we cum!

  101. PolyMom September 29, 2013 11:00 am

Where’s Johnny Manziel hiding? Coward! Afraid the Manziel family will come after you. You better be afraid BOY!

Thanks tom Mui. After the game last night I told the hub he would be fired by this morning. Had I been a betting woman the spread in Vegas was 22-1 if Kiffen would get fired after this game.

Hawaii game was so exciting. I was texting the big boy last night until 2:30 this morning. Exhausted today. And with all is USc stuff going on…crazy here in South Bay. But Kiffen got what he deserved. Good riddance. Whoever the next coach is, they will still have huge problems. Recruiting being one of them. Who the hell wants to play for USC anymore?

  102. Former UH Athlete September 29, 2013 11:01 am

Going back to a few days ago… It was mentioned that Jason Gesser is in Wyoming. I think he’s the ideal target for UH as QB coach or possibly OC, but again, can’t worry too much about it until the season is over.

  103. Former UH Athlete September 29, 2013 11:02 am

99… add Timmy Chang to that list also

  104. madeinhawaii September 29, 2013 11:05 am

    Let’s not forget Scott Harding…

Zounds!… Warriors put a lot on his shoulders last night, too.

Guy is an amazing baller. Great catches… fearless returner, awesome punts left footed, right footed — even evaded a blocker and got the kick off of his left foot.

  105. Independent Thinker September 29, 2013 11:09 am

Pigeons are happiest when you leave them alone to eat the rice. Let the pigeons eat the rice. Mahalo.

  106. SteveM September 29, 2013 11:10 am

    Good morning everyone!

Yup, over half the original crowd was gone in the 4th quarter last night, but I felt the vibrations from the stomping and the crowd noise was at 40,000 volume! Haven’t heard and felt that for a long time. Maybe next Saturday…

  107. Old School Dave September 29, 2013 11:22 am

Timmy Chang might be another candidate for QB coach, but he’s a R & S guy, so I don’t know. I have a feeling that Jordan Wynn is being groomed for the permanent position.

  108. Popololoco September 29, 2013 11:25 am

How ironic, Chow spent the last year and a half trying to rid UH of the spread Offense only to finally realize that it ACTUAL works. I guess you can teach old dogs new tricks. Now where does he go from here, does he keep running the spread or does he go back to the old stale offense.

  109. Popololoco September 29, 2013 11:26 am

    actually

  110. A-House September 29, 2013 11:31 am

I be the first to tell you all that we left after the ‘pick-6’, but on our way out we say the 1st and 2nd TDs and we were all clapping. Fact is, the same clapping carried over into the car, all the way home, and into the living room until the last hail Mary – I too thought that Woosley would have been a stronger arm on the last 2 passes.

Like most of you, very happy for the last part of the 3rd quarter and the 4th. However, fans left “early” because of what happened – offensively and defensively UH was terrible – how can one say the defense was solid after giving up 35 points and the offense had 3 pts?

Most happy to see that Coach Chow has moved away from his prior positions in the 1st 3 games and gave Woosley good training by starting – if he gets more, then when Zwahlen comes back in 2015, Woosley will be game experienced and can help train Zwahlen for 2015 and 2016 and be ready to start in 2017. Also, time will allow Tuitele, if he signs with UH, to redshirt and learn the system. Any good high school sophomores QBs in Hawaii or on the mainland?

Looking forward to San Jose game as the offense and defense will be primed to go – first win and 1 -4 rather than 0 – 5 as some have predicted.

A spark, a spark and let there be light to brighten the night!

  111. jonj September 29, 2013 11:37 am

SASA Mackin would have won the game! lol… Was a good game in the end. I dont think woosley should have gotten the start since this past week was his only getting reps. should have been schoeder or higgins. they give us the best chance.

But was really good seeing BRS out there. And i liked how schoeder put the ball out there and trusted the WRs would make the play

  112. Popololoco September 29, 2013 11:42 am

Last night we all saw for the first time what this Offense can actually do with the right Scheme. For the first time in a long time the Offense was EXCITING. This is what the fans want to see. I tell you what, if Chow comes out with that old stale boring Offense next week then I’m going to be highly ticked off and you should be too.

  113. A-House September 29, 2013 11:49 am

just MHO, Gesser, giving Hawaii the finger after getting hit on the sideline at Aloha Stadium, and Tomey, not voting for UH in 2007 as a top 25 team while a member of the “voting” committee”, are the type of people I would wish to see helping the football program

like I said, it’s just me as I will never forgive Pres Nixon for dishonoring the Office of the President of the US – call it naïve, but it’s just me

  114. Manoa #1 September 29, 2013 11:52 am

#77 papajoe2 thanks i’ll try…. and no im not joe.

  115. madeinhawaii September 29, 2013 11:58 am

I wonder if Woolsey wasn’t pulled because he lacked practice time on the 4-wide sets rather than because of the interception he threw? Schroeder is familiar with the sets because he played through them last season. Graham isn’t comfortable in shotgun.

  116. kawika49 September 29, 2013 12:01 pm

Not a win. But a stand up. I am sooooooooooo proud of these young men.

  117. Puhi September 29, 2013 12:04 pm

    Aloha kakou,

I say good for all the fairweather fans, who paid good money for their tickets, took shower and drove to the stadium, sat and watched half of the game then left because we were losing badly. Good for the buggas!

Only us hard core fans deserve to see such a thing.

    Go Bows!!

    kden, Puhi

  118. jonj September 29, 2013 12:10 pm

yo jeezy idk about u but im liking how TJ Taimatuia is playing these days!

  119. jonj September 29, 2013 12:12 pm

funny how chows offense is the pro-style but when we move to 4 wide shotgun we start moving the ball with ease.

  120. jeezy is a (don't) know-it-all September 29, 2013 12:12 pm

jeezy, I see u came on last night to try fo gloat. you did say woosley should start. coach gets credit for listening to you then? difference from fans like me and you is we true fans neva say who should start and make a stink about it. we let da coaches make them decisions. you try for make your poor behavior on dis here blog about other people. it’s all about you and your know-it-all god complex. Tomey says he doesn’t second guess the coaches, but tries to rather give insight into what coaches stay thinking. not you. you always second guessing coaches and trying to make them look bad on this blog, especially da head buggah Chow. you don’t know da players. you don’t know their academics. you don’t know their on field and off field stuff. you don’t know their understanding of da play book. you don’t know da coaches efforts with evaluating their players. but you act like you do. that’s the problem with clowns like you. you don’t know much going on behind the scenes but you act like you do. and when you wrong, I never see you own up to it. and you’re wrong just about every day. you only guessing at best but you act like its da truth. how you know about recruits? you interviewed them? you talked to their parents? you know if they even qualify for one scholarship? how you know the recruits you “recommend” even consider coming to Hawaii? how you know the coaches neva talk to those ones yet? how you know they fit into the coaching style or direction of da program? you don’t know so many things, but you act like you know.

are you even one fan? cause I neva eva see one positive comment before the game from you. you only came on after the game to try to gloat. da otha tsaikos saying “imua” or “go warriors” or “one team”. encouraging the team. positive comments. but nothing like dat from you. you only try to criticize the coaches and mix in your lolo opinions. where you one coach again? i like break down your team and your coaching decisions. you don’t know-it-all. stop criticizing the coaching decisions, recruits, and players. you definitely can’t do any better than any of them. if you one fan, be one fan. if you one coach, just say where and I will be right dea breaking your performance down and putting it on dis blog. stop second guessing da Hawaii coaches and players and recruits. stop being so negative. you don’t know more than da coaches. your move, mr. clown.

  121. Bows4lIfe September 29, 2013 12:13 pm

    Good game boys ….(GO BOWZ!!)

  122. Puhi September 29, 2013 12:14 pm

Gesser was a traitor. He NEVER gets to coach at Hawai’i. Tell him go coach at WASU. We reward the local bradas who stayed home to represent. For the ones who leave to play elsewhere, we give ’em flying cracks near the sideline. Nate Jackson gets the kudos not Derek Gesser! We will never forget that hit because we loved it!

    kden, puhi

  123. Puhi September 29, 2013 12:21 pm

What is Nate Jackson doing these days?

  125. kauai warrior September 29, 2013 12:50 pm

That was a heck of a great game Rainbow Warriors! Stoked to have seen Ikaika get some reps and mix it up.

Sean was “on” congratulations to Sean! Let’s not forget that Jeremy’s another talented quarterback, and I hope to see him get some play time too. Looking forward to next weeks win!!!

  126. kauai warrior September 29, 2013 12:51 pm

  128. Manoa2 September 29, 2013 1:08 pm

Great win and glad I stayed for the second half.

I liked SS and his experience, and I liked the wide open passing offense– I wish Tsai did not tell us that was caused by the injury. But our ability to go to 4 wides and passing on every down when we lost our TE’s was positive. It was the right thing to do at that stage of the game anyway. SS’s passing also opened the run for Lakalaka. To the critics of the Oline, last night they blocked well and opened nice holes– the issue is really the QB’s holding the ball too long with an offense designed for the pass in three seconds. Last night SS played quicker and it made all the difference.

  129. Sasa Muli September 29, 2013 1:09 pm

Puhi- yup! Da fafa train left aftah 42-tree.

Dey probably had fo dress up to da late shift on California Ave in Wahiawa for go go “werk”.

  130. A-House September 29, 2013 1:31 pm

Why did U go with 3 down linemen? Injuries? 3/4 alignment did not prevent Fresno from moving the ball – in fact UH DL could not penetrate giving Carr lots of time to find receivers

don’t recall a single instance where he was hit for a loss in the 1st half and most of the 3rd qtr.

  131. boolakanaka September 29, 2013 1:41 pm

127–FUHA: Many of the wires already have Lane looking at consultant (non-coaching) positions with a host of NFL teams; “Look for an NFL team to retain Lane Kiffin’s services as offensive consultant …still widely regarded as offensive mind in league circles”

As for where USC will go….this is within the last couple of hours:Athletic director Pat Haden will immediately begin the process of evaluating candidates, which could include Jon Gruden, Chris Petersen, Steve Sarkisian, Kevin Sumlin, Tim DeRuyter, James Franklin, and Pat Fitzgerald.

How will the coaching search play out?

Do not expect Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio or St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher to emerge in the search. Del Rio is a former USC player who earned All-American honors and was the MVP of the 1985 Rose Bowl. Fisher is a USC graduate.

Do expect many to voice their opinion including Keyshawn Johnson and a bevy of former Trojans that are now in the NFL.

At some point, Jon Gruden is going to return to coaching. Gruden said last week, “I do get the itch a lot. I miss it tremendously.” Though most believe when he returns, it will be as an NFL coach, perhaps Los Angeles and the USC history is enough to entice Gruden to, at the least, consider the job. Given the job is now open, there is plenty of time to evaluate the pros and cons.

Would Chris Petersen (48) leave Boise State for USC? One thing to remember, per his contract, is that Petersen must provide written (or email) notice at least 24 hours before interviewing for a coaching job at another college or with a professional team.

Washington head coach Steve Sarkisian (39) coached under Pete Carroll at USC from 2005-2008. Since becoming the Washington head coach in 2009, Sarkisian has led the program to records of 5-7, 7-6, 7-6, 7-6, and 4-0.

  132. boolakanaka September 29, 2013 1:42 pm

Opps that was for FUHA at 97…..

  133. Down with.... September 29, 2013 2:00 pm

#12 that’s like jj asking herman frazier to be an assistant on his staff. NO EFFIN WAY!!!

  135. NYUHTx September 29, 2013 2:06 pm

Shroeder was a starter from the beginning. After all, you don’t lose your standing because of an injury right?

  136. gobows September 29, 2013 2:11 pm

123~ that would be jason gesser

  137. Think2Much September 29, 2013 2:23 pm

When ST mentions SSchroeder moving people around with his eyes, it reminds me of either Moniz or Brennen, one of whom I think said once you know how to do that, the game becomes easy. Hopefully SSchroeder is now at that point. One thing is evident: SSchroeder is determined, as is the whole O. If they play with that determination, good things will happen.

  138. 99club September 29, 2013 2:32 pm

What an exciting game last night. The largest comeback I could find on the interwebs was the Michigan St. comeback against Northwestern in 2006. They came back from being down 38-3.

  139. slenzi September 29, 2013 2:37 pm

Kiffin is tainted goods right now. He will probably have to go down to one of those jobs like Bobby Petrino at Western Kentucky. Good riddance at USC. Don’t let the door hit ya bruddah.

is polymom talking to me? what are you talking about and why should i be hiding?

  141. Boya_jr September 29, 2013 2:47 pm

The Team played like Warriors last night. I was in my hotel room in Eugene, OR with my laptop streaming the game under the covers so the monitor light didn’t wake up my roommate who was sleeping. The Oregon Cal game was terrible bc of a monsoon of rain, left at halftime but silver lining, got to watch the 2nd half UH game. The game was free on MWC.com but I had to pay Hilton $10 for Internet.

My heart was pounding, my eyes got big. I did fist pumps, great to see the Offense wake up and the D and ST rising up. After seeing the UO, OSU, UW and even some USC fans (connecting flight in Portland) leaving to go back to real work and life, feels great to be a Hawaii Rainbow Warrior fan, 2000 miles from home. After the game, I fell asleep listening to 1420.

  142. boolakanaka September 29, 2013 2:54 pm

Here is an interesting side not on the Lane Kiffin firing: When USC was recruiting Kiffin for the coaching position, they wanted him so badly that they were willing to do anything. Anything consisted of them giving him a $500k loan towards the purchase of his $5.5 million home in Manhattan Beach. Of course there was a catch, and it was that if Kiffin was ever fired or quit, he would be required to immediately give USC back the money along with interest.

Kiffin reportedly makes well over $2 million a year at USC, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he has $500k liquid cash sitting around waiting for USC to come knocking at the door. Kiffin has not commented on whether or not he can make good on this stipulation, but it will be interesting to see how this unfolds.

  143. jonj September 29, 2013 2:56 pm

Angry idiot bra i neva said anything about the RnS all i said is we was funny we start moving the ball with ease when we 4wide. and we know we got the personnel for the 4 wide.

  144. Angry Old School Dave September 29, 2013 3:03 pm

EH, JONJ, I GOING SAY THIS SLOW FOR YOU. ACTUALLY, CANNOT SAY UM SLOW CUZ WE ON THE INTERNET, SO JUST READ UM SLOW. IN FACT, WOULD BE DUMB TO RUN PRO SET OR OFFSET I FORMATION WHEN YOU DOWN 39 POINTS. WHAT YOU TINK, JONJ?

…..Red Raiders and Govs on Thursday, then Punahou and Saint Louis on Friday before Rainbow Warriors and Spartans on Saturday.

  146. boolakanaka September 29, 2013 3:06 pm

142, without agreeing or disagreeing with your post, I was little puzzled about that myself…the standard for defamation, is high just with a regular citizen is rather high, and takes much effort to prove. But, lets just review the elements, as I recall from ole law school:

Here are four elements a person must establish in order to prove he or she has been defamed: (1) Publication, (2) Identification, (3) Harm and (4) Fault. Each of the four elements must be proven. For example, even if a story you have written meets the publication, harm and fault elements, a libel claim will still fail if you have not identified the claimant.

Now, the definition for a public figure is as follows: Who is a Public Figure? There are two categories:

    (1) General Purpose Public Figure: a “celebrity,” whose pervasive fame or notoriety has made his or her name a “household word.”

    (2) Limited Purpose Public Figure: someone who has voluntarily assumed a leading role in a particular public controversy.

So, Johnny Football obviously fits into this definition.

Now, defense to libel are as follows: consent, truth and privilege. And the last one, and its a biggie, is Opinion Versus Fact

Statements of pure opinion cannot be libelous. However, simply leading off an article with “In my opinion…”, publishing something on the opinion page or using the word “alleged” provides no automatic protection from a libel charge. The test is whether the expression is capable of being proven true or false. Pure opinions, by their very nature, cannot be proven true or false. Milkovich v. Lorain Journal Co., 497 U.S. 1 (1990)

    Satire and Cartoons

If a statement cannot reasonably be interpreted by readers to be one of express or implied fact, it cannot be libelous. In Walko v. Kean College of New Jersey, 561 A.2d 680 (N.J. Super.L. 1988) a case involving an ad that associated a college assistant dean with a telephone sex service, the court stated that “A parody or spoof that no reasonable person would read as a factual statement, or as anything other than a joke – albeit a bad joke – cannot be actionable as a defamation.”

    Case closed sir….

  147. Johnny Manziel is a War Criminal September 29, 2013 3:17 pm

lol out of the blue, polymom is accusing me of libel and that I should be somehow terrified of the manziel family because of an internet handle (btw, she does understand this is the internet, right?)? well at the very least, i don’t drive a mercedes, so you would think she would cut me some slack, you know, because she kept talking about how mercedes benz (or whatever company it was) circa 2013 is directly responsible for supporting the holocaust back in the late 30s to mid 40s.

    go figure!

  148. Johnny Manziel is a War Criminal September 29, 2013 3:22 pm

also, even without referring to my handy dandy California Civil Procedure, Third Edition, i really have strong doubts that a libel suit against my internet handle would actually stand up in court.

  149. boolakanaka September 29, 2013 3:34 pm

Or what I use to love to say back in the day, with a tiny smirk…”I pass the witness…”

  150. PolyMom September 29, 2013 3:48 pm

Calling Johnny Manziel a War Criminal. Good look BOY! I’d change my handle HON.

OMG it’s been Lane Kiffen every channel all damned day. Let him get out of town. Geez it’s only football, his poor kids. Now I feel sorry for him.

  151. PolyMom September 29, 2013 3:49 pm

Sweetie they live in Texas. Duh! Don’t mess with Texas!

  152. Johnny Manziel is a War Criminal September 29, 2013 3:54 pm

uh… sorry, polymom. idk if you’re trying to troll me or what, but it’s failing pretty bad right now. especially because you don’t seem to know what exactly “libel” means, even though boola posted a pretty good summary of it.

anyway, peace be the journey, mon.

  153. kev-1 September 29, 2013 3:57 pm

Sounds like there are a lot of lawyers on this blog. No wonder so many are unlikable.

    KIDDING!

  154. Johnny Manziel is a War Criminal (satire) September 29, 2013 3:57 pm

actually, hey! what about this. is this handle acceptable to you and the manziel family? am i man now or am i still just a BOY. please. please tell me, polymom! your approval is so important to me! i promise i wont’ drive any german luxury automobiles!

  155. Johnny Manziel is a War Criminal (satire) September 29, 2013 4:01 pm

kev-1: many probably are. how the hell did we get on this topic of libel and all this stuff anyway?? what is polymom’s deal? does joanie REALLY love chachi? i mean, these are the really tough questions people should be asking here.

  156. Independent Thinker September 29, 2013 4:02 pm

Entertaining. * sets down 20 pound bag of hinode rice for the pigeons, goes back to adjusting the sail.

  157. kev-1 September 29, 2013 4:05 pm

johnny . . . idk. I pretend to be an expert at Monday Morning Quarterbacking. This law business is too smart for me. I’d like to be supportive of you, but I don’t want to be seen as an accessory.

  158. boolakanaka September 29, 2013 4:09 pm

155-Kev 1, whats your home or business address, I’m serving you with papers….lol (kidding bullie)

  160. Johnny Manziel is a War Criminal (satire) September 29, 2013 4:09 pm

kev-1: an accessory? are you calling me a criminal?? kev-1, are you libeling me? oh man, wait till polymom gets a load of THIS! are you reading this polymom??? help!

  161. boolakanaka September 29, 2013 4:21 pm

Ok, after this, nothing more about law…but, way back in the day, I was taking this advanced taxation class, and damn it was difficult…law mixed with complex tax situations. Anywho, I asked the professor one day if I was in jeopardy in failing, not missing a beat, and without a hint of humor, he answers: ” It’s propitious.”

Still don’t know what dat freaking word means.

  162. Johnny Manziel is a War Criminal (satire) September 29, 2013 4:26 pm

boola: I tend to judge people who use words like that in real life conversation. academic papers, legal documents, or whatever, okay. but in regular conversation, idk. why couldn’t he just say “yes”?

    but that’s just me.

  163. boolakanaka September 29, 2013 4:31 pm

Yes, I really prefer to be the one using the big words, if not, its just pompous…….

  164. Διογένης ὁ Σινωπεύς September 29, 2013 4:34 pm

I always thought that the handle JMWC was a bit too much.

War Criminals I always would associate with a Hitler, Tojo, Goering, Stalin and that Johnny Manziel is not.

A jerk of the first order, jackass, idiot, etc yes, but not a war criminal.

  165. Konoman1 September 29, 2013 4:38 pm

the trolls still think they know everything today.. Lol!!!

    Go Bows!

  167. Jonj September 29, 2013 4:39 pm

Angry idiot u r correct it would be wise to go shotgun 39pts down. It also would b wise if ur proset isn’t working at all season to start a game in shotgun to move the ball and maybe try win a game. What u think? Or does that not make sense to u??

  168. ai-eee-soos September 29, 2013 4:42 pm

    off topic …

usc has their own airport terminal ?

Haden fired Kiffin in a 3 a.m. meeting at the Trojans’ private airport terminal, but not before a 45-minute chat in which Kiffin tried to change Haden’s mind.

    from SA

  169. boolakanaka September 29, 2013 4:53 pm

Probably a terminal near LAX that does all the private individual and corporate stuff…eg gulfstreams and stuff.

  170. Marleysdad September 29, 2013 5:03 pm

Great second half last night. Pretty impressed with the execution on O during the comeback.

I was sitting behind Penitito Faalalango(sp?) during the 4th q., this guy was cheering like a maniac! If he plays half as hard as he cheers, he’ll be an animal.

Was nice to see BillyRay have some success out on the field. I was impressed with how quickly he made an impact.

Also impressive was the noise level with 15000 or less fans still there, GOOD JOB. Almost….almost reminds me you the good ol days. Really hope this is a turning point in the Warriors season & Coach Chow’s tenure.

It felt good to be a Warrior fan last night

  171. d1shima September 29, 2013 5:17 pm

Like kapakahi sez, it’s a BEEG week.

    OIA

    ILH

    MWC

…and starting off on Wednesday widda new episode of DD! 🙂

  172. Kekoa September 29, 2013 5:45 pm

Talk about a great a wakening! Some people sitting near me were sleeping when the team turned things around. They awoke when the crowd noise had reached scream level 10! What an amazing sight to see and hear. I think our Warriors are on their way to becoming a force to deal with in the MW.

    Go Warriors!

  173. boolakanaka September 29, 2013 6:20 pm

I think the current plight of the Giants and 49ers, and the upturn of the Chiefs, provide a great commentary on how low you can fall, and how high you can climb within a season. Alex Smith was an afterthought, a throw away, dull compared to the immense physical abilities of Colin, but fortunes change, and life has one steady feature—its not going to always be this way. With that, let us embrace the climbing warriors.

  174. gobows September 29, 2013 6:23 pm

    another wahine sweep

  175. PolyMom September 29, 2013 6:50 pm

LAX has a separate side for charters. And yes they did report all day on every network since I got out of bed that Kiffen was left standing at the airport. It’s a ten minute cab ride. But I do feel bad for his kids.i understand his kids were being bullied at school for the last couple of weeks. I mean his little daughter cried when folks were chanting at the games to Fire Kiffen.

I’ve lost a lot of respect for Pat Haden. It’s one thing to dismiss an employee. It’s another thing to leave him stranded. I understand his office was packed starting at half time. To not be able to say goodbye to your team is terrible.

They drop all these big names, Del Rio, Sumlin, Peterson. Really who would want that job? Really who wants this kind of hostile work enviroment. Even the media here in LA cant believe what Pat Haden did. Really classy USC!

  176. PolyMom September 29, 2013 6:51 pm

Oh and USC fans want Nirm Chow back for OC. LMAO!

  177. iwonderwhytheyhateme September 29, 2013 6:58 pm

    #178,

Who would want this job? 4 words, SHOW ME THE MONEY!

USC will not have a problem in hiring a replacement.

  178. Konoman1 September 29, 2013 6:59 pm

Some of you were down on the bows before the comeback but you were supportive in the end. But the same haters were critical despite a tremendous performance. Those trolls should crawl back into their caves or back to the other board!

ah he was just giving you props

  180. Jonj September 29, 2013 7:10 pm

Angry idiot… Brah I know whvt pro-style and spread an al of the above is. I just had a miss print wit the pro-style ant proset. Kinda hard when u blogging wit an idiot of ur phone. I kno chow wants to set up his play action with a run game and he starts the game off this way. But I don’t see that working and when I see use in 4wite shotgun we start moving the ball. What u no get?? Or do u think our first half offense is what we need more of??

  181. Sasa Muli September 29, 2013 7:19 pm

Angry old school dave- uce, nevamind! Waste time make noise to da fafas. Marys stay piss off cause undah one addah coach not named mack-uh boys wen look mean again das y.

Not hard fo undastand da lolos and fafas.

  182. A-House September 29, 2013 7:21 pm

at the SC game and last night, the stadium played Country Road on the speakers between the 3rd and 4th quarter and people began singing along

is this something new and permanent?

how about a Hawaiian song like One Paddle, Two Paddle by our own Don Ho? easy to sing and many already know most of the words – maybe a little hint to all the local boys who went away or to the new recruits about staying home – of course not all will stay, but no harm in putting a thought in their young minds – that’s for ALL sports

  183. Sasa Muli September 29, 2013 7:22 pm

Dis not about da football-dis always about da loose pants for da fafas

Pants stay loose in da front kine yeah so dey make like one coach get fired dey take em personal. All talk talk talk is about dem and making supahstah on a blog.

Mo bettah if pants stay tight in da fron even if gotta get da kine implant. Maybe if dey do dat no more fake kine big body on a blog on fantasy island.

  184. Sasa Muli September 29, 2013 7:24 pm

Dey shuld play Masese or Talofa Teine on da speakers. Guarans all my local praddahs da kanaks da usos going be jammin in da crowd plus going scare all da malahinis away. but maybe no mattah cause da speakers stay all hemajang anyway. sounds pilau and shame.

  185. Konoman1 September 29, 2013 7:27 pm

For those of us who stayed till the end and cheered our hearts out it was awesome!!! The players that I saw were leading the cheers in our section! It was a very proud moment!!!Also loved how the fans stood in the rain and cheered the team when they left the field!! And to all the people I know that left or changed the channel after the pick 6… Gotta BELIEVE!!! Go Bows!!!

  186. cocobean September 29, 2013 7:30 pm

Proper execution with all 11 doing what they’re suppose to do is the best offense.

Again, it’s not the type of offense, the formation, the tempo or the play itself. It’s about everyone doing their job.

  187. dannyp September 29, 2013 7:39 pm

    189

If you were paying attention you would see that Chow totally changed up the route combo’s. Thats the main reason for the second half outburst. So yeah I say type of O matters…

  188. dannyp September 29, 2013 7:43 pm

Also the D did a great job of giving SS a short field.

  189. cocobean September 29, 2013 7:57 pm

#190. My point was even with what you called changed the route combos they still had to execute.

Can you give an example of changing the route combo that’s the first time I’ve heard that term.

  192. Former UH Athlete September 29, 2013 8:21 pm

jonj, good call on TJ. His play has really elevated this year. I saw him made a fantastic tackle after chasing down the Fresno RB before he got the corner. TJ started in the middle of the field and had the speed to track down and make the play. If he didn’t make the tackle, it surely would have been a 8-10 yard run as the containment was being blocked. It won’t go down in any highlight reel, but it’s was very impressive.

Can’t wait for Kaumeyer to remove the training wheels for Kennedy. In the limited action he’s seen, he’s been getting penetration and has been disrupting the offense. He’s going to be a monster for UH in the future. I’m 100% fine with him only getting a handful of plays because he’s not far removed from a knee sprain, and he’s just a true freshman. He’s only going to get stronger. Plus he’s got great speed for a big guy. He actually made a tackle after chasing down the RB about 8 yards down field. If Kennedy adds 15lbs of muscle, he’s going to be unstoppable in the MWC the next few seasons.

Lakalaka is pretty darn good also. Very nimble for a big stocky RB. What I like most is that he’s secure with the ball. Actually, UH RB ball security has been very good all year. I don’t recall Lakalaka putting it on the ground at all this year.

  193. Former UH Athlete September 29, 2013 8:33 pm

183… UH was forced to go 4 wide as Pu’u-Robinson went down with injury. Moleni DNP, so there were no TE available in 2nd half.

Also the offense looked better because the OL finally did their job and protect the QB. Schroeder still got hit several times, but he was much better at being decisive and launching the ball on time.

Woosley got his chance, but he’s still very raw and is a project QB at this point. I want him to get more reps, but Graham is the #1 and Schroeder emphatically took the #2 (possibly open the door for the #1). As the #3 he’s only going to get sparse reps. He doesn’t have pocket discipline, like most mobile QBs. Chows offense, like the RnS, depends on the QB reading and going through progressions. Woosley takes off running if his 1st option isn’t there. That’s ok if your able to pick up yards, but it drives coaches nuts because it opens up the QB to getting hurt and often times a running QB will miss the check down that would have been a larger play.

  194. dannyp September 29, 2013 9:29 pm

    192

Just the patterns that the receivers run. Usually we’re very conservative but in the second half Chow opened up the playbook and actually starting calling 4 Verts, Levels ect. Basically he started running concepts that were closer to the RnS then the WCO… Also going to 11 personnel helped.

I really wish I could see the All-22 film though so I could see more of what Chow was calling :/

  195. NotNasti September 29, 2013 9:47 pm

TE Clark Evans was having a rough night. Saw him ralphing over and over during the game. Lined up at H-back, spewing right as the ball was being snapped, running off onto the sidelines and spraying everyone around him. Football is a TOUGH sport. Shades of Colt Brennan circa 2005.

BTW, Scott Harding gets my vote for MVP. I just love his punting style. It eliminates any possibility of a punt return, because he punts away from the returner, and no need for hang time, because he’s running around before his punts, giving his team time to get down the field. One of these days, he’s going to take off for big yardage as well.

And . . . nights like last night. That’s why I never leave games early. There was a whiner (he whines every year, turns around so that we can all hear his whining), who went home at the first downpour, the game was so much more enjoyable after that.

    Good Morning Tsaiko Nation !

UP early in LA and it is just plain AWESOME with the air feeling brisked and sun slowly coming out. Up here living in Ladera Heights all my neighbors slowly getting into their vehicles ready to tackle the 405 freeway while the retired folks wake up to a cup of java and waving at me reaching for their LA Times paper. Full day planned ahead with my Hawaii gear on as a proud former player I will always be and just tickle pink on our boy’s come back performance vs. Fresno State.

Momentum should be sky high with coaches and players practicing HARD this week for first win vs. San Jose State. More then anything just COMPETE as I hope the fans come out at Aloha Stadium and FILL those seats !

Don’t like to see lower stands empty like that as how can we expect these FINE young men to represent the 808 when seats are empty with out one cheer coming from that empty orange section. SUPPORT the team be THERE as only TRUE Warrior fans should do !

Wish Coach Chow nothing but SUCCESS and hope the naysayers find it in their hearts to bring positive vibes as if you see his facial expression the man wants to WIN and is capable of getting it done as he needs positive thoughts not negative !

Being a former BOW I know what exactly this season is going through and the players mind set after losing ALL your beginning games “stay together as a TEAM and let’s BEAT San Jose!

BIG second half from the team and SS just played GREAT as an experience qb starter from last year should do. New day, New week Tsaiko Nation let’s stay POSITIVE and keep our boy’s fired up to “WIN BABY JUST WIN”! as Al would say.

Have a GREAT morning and reverse osmosis just so FUNNY on how you do it as I LOVED reading the reverse psychology. Man I wish you were my TA in Psych 101, great fun laughing all the way for passing class. HILARIOUS words you use !

    IMUA Warriors !

Gossip and USC: USC football fans, are you ready for at least 10 more weeks of this? The University of Houston head tennis coach, Patrick Sullivan, was at Los Angeles International Airport Sunday night and he thinks he saw Jack Del Rio, the defensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos.

The timing on this one is interesting: The Broncos had just finished whipping the Eagles Sunday afternoon, 52-13, and does it seem feasible that Del Rio’s would then hop on a plane and head to LA and interview for the USC coaching vacancy? Anything’s possible in these wild and wacky coaching searches, including the 50-year old Del Rio, who starred for the Trojans in the early 80s, interviewing for the job on the same day Lane Kiffin was fired.

But I’d be surprised if Pat Haden went the NFL route. My early guesses at Haden’s top targets would be Chris Petersen of Boise State, Kevin Sumlin of Texas A&M or Steve Sarkisian of Washington. Here’s the problem – I’m not sure any of those guys would jump at the opportunity to coach the Trojans right now. NFL franchises will be courting Sumlin in a few months. Sarkisian is building a formidable program at Washington. Petersen seems to love Montana Idaho and life in Boise.

But we’re barely 24 hours into the USC search..
