Free tickets for UH students for subregional

Not sure if this is through Shoji, who bought tickets two years ago to make sure students could come …

UH is offering free tickets to first 300 UH students for Friday’s first round of the NCAA tournament. Tickets available for pickup at the SSC box office starting at 9 a.m. Thursday

if the Wahine win Friday, then 300 free tickets will be available starting at 9 a.m. Saturday at the box office. Valid student ID required.

Should the ticket supply be exhausted, UH Manoa students can purchase single-day tickets for $5

Very nice gesture by UH and/or Shoji. The students have been a big support system for the Wahine during the season. I think the games will sell out.

  2. nana kokolele December 3, 2013 8:59 am

wow this wouldn’t happen when i was student at UH, many many moons ago. Nice job whomever.

Looks like the lower bowl is sold out

  5. LC December 3, 2013 9:55 am

Ari Homayun- beach is her first love but plays indoors, very short listed 5’8 more like 5’5-5’6. Elite VBC,El Camino HS.

Considered to be a utility type player indoors. I don’t know what the plan is for her at UH.She was here on senior night with two other beach recruits so I’m assuming she’s beach until I hear or see something else from UH

  6. mauna December 3, 2013 10:12 am

    5. LC On senior night there were 3 recruits sitting on the floor right (video view) of the players forming the roof for the seniors intro, I assume she was the shortest sitting on the left, who were the other taller girls? Kendra Koelsch in the middle for one?

  7. vballfreak808 December 3, 2013 10:22 am

    6. The short one on the left was Guinasso not Homayun

  8. Cruisecontrol December 3, 2013 10:35 am

Only option for ticket delivery is $2.00 will call? Why no print at home option? Makes no sense for online ordering, to me.

  9. LC December 3, 2013 10:39 am

In the video Guinasso is on the left and Koelsch in the middle.

  10. Warriorfan December 3, 2013 10:47 am

.3 saw that on volley talk a few days ago looks like a beach and indoor recruit possibly libero or DS can never have enough of those IMO since passing is so important.

  11. mauna December 3, 2013 11:01 am

The mystery third recruit on the right, no one has ID her yet with the decent facial posted on vt.

  12. uhfan December 3, 2013 11:10 am

She doesnt look like the recruit next to Koelsch

  13. mauna December 3, 2013 11:18 am

The girl on the right is taller than Koelsch.

  14. mauna December 3, 2013 11:21 am

Homayun was probably in the stands, Guinasso is a real blonde blonde and on the left.

Nice bit of Aloha for the Ohana by UH and these tickets will be used I’m sure by Wahine fans and players friends and classmates. Very thoughtfl gesture by Thankful and appreciative program which partially explains why womens VB has been winner at UH for 3 decades +. Go Wahine! Yo’re our team till last whistle which I hope is for match point – Aloha ball in Washington state.

  16. Genotamayo December 3, 2013 12:52 pm

Does anyone know how many packages are left?

  17. frings December 3, 2013 1:35 pm

    16. That Aloha Ball will be on December 21st, and the sound that it will make hitting the court and the frenetic energy displayed by the NCAA Champion Rainbow Wahine will be deafening to the NCAA and the entire collegiate volleyball world. LET’S GO BOWS!!!

  18. Warriorfan December 3, 2013 3:33 pm

    Any ticket updates?

  19. LC December 3, 2013 3:50 pm

Still plenty of packet tickets available in upper sections.

  20. Kazu December 3, 2013 4:03 pm

Wondering who has the rights to TV coverage for this weekends matches if any.

  21. LC December 3, 2013 4:22 pm

    OC 16

I believe it isn’t until the regional level that ESPN gets involved.

Here is the NCAA TV schedule, use the drop downs to narrow the search down.

  22. LC December 3, 2013 4:37 pm

I’m thinking around 7 to 8000 for Friday and a full house on Saturday especially if it’s between UH and BYU.

  23. 808BV December 3, 2013 4:47 pm

I’m hoping oc16 will broadcast both nights… neighbor island fans don’t wanna feel left out.. Anyone knows when broadcasting information will be released? How did it work previous years? Or the last time Hawaii hosted….Also, the final 4. Are the matches televised in Hawaii?

  24. Genotamayo December 3, 2013 4:55 pm

    Noting yet

  25. Kazu December 3, 2013 4:58 pm

    LC. Thanks a lot.

  26. roofer68 December 3, 2013 5:07 pm

UH says TV coverage info will be announced today.

  27. Cubicle1126 December 3, 2013 5:18 pm

kazu — for tournament matches, the ncaa always owns the rights to broadcast the matches.

starting with the regional matches, it appears that the ncaa has licensed those rights to espn (the regional semifinals for broadcast on espn3.com, it sounds like … and the regional finals to be broadcast on espnu). and the final four and championship game is aired on espn2.

but licensing out and broadcasting the subregionals is not consistent across the board.

  28. LC December 3, 2013 5:24 pm

Relax it’s going to be on TV state wide. On the UH web site it says TBA .

The only thing that might change from previous years is the first match on Friday between BYU and ASU, it might not be on TV. We saw that this year with the preseason tournaments.

  29. LC December 3, 2013 5:35 pm

Hawai`i matches are sub regional, local tv can negotiate with the ncaa for the rights to broadcast them which is probably what is going on right now.

  30. hollycow December 3, 2013 5:41 pm

The ASU vs BYU match will be televised, JL got nothing else on his plate. Haha, jk, seriously this is the playoffs and I think there’s enough interest in this match up to warrant it. Survey says it’s one of the two (forget the other) toughest 1st rounder.

  31. Lina December 3, 2013 6:20 pm

There are still seats available within the lower bowl. It’s not sold out yet! However, there are only single seats left down there. :p

  32. LC December 3, 2013 6:53 pm

    Really which section ?

I just finished going through each section in the lower bowl and came up with nothing.

When the last regional was here I scored a 2nd row seat in A section the day after tickets went on sale,an improvement from the seat I had in the upper level which I was able to sell.

  33. LC December 3, 2013 7:11 pm

That was some funny stuff from that Brazilian girl from Alabama State after the selection show…can’t lie wanted to go to Hawai`i.

  34. po'okela December 3, 2013 9:32 pm

even that girl from yale hoped they were gonna get sent to hawaii lol.

  35. vballfreak808 December 4, 2013 6:46 am

    Happy birthday Dave Shoji!

  36. Cindy Luis December 4, 2013 8:18 am

LC, as you said, relax about TV. there will be coverage statewide. It won’t be PPV. and they will do both matches Friday. As mentioned Sunday, the only thing is that McLachlin will be a Daniel Rasay’s wedding on the Big Island Saturday. not sure who will do color.

  37. mauna December 4, 2013 10:41 am

TV announcement made 24 hours before first match, which would be 5pm tomorrow. NCAA blackout rules.

  38. Grammy December 4, 2013 11:26 am

If you can (and I’m sorry for Neighbor Island fans) make it being in house and contributing your voice in support of the Whine is priceless, but take it easy on Friday so you got some left for Saturday, too. And I do believe lei and flowers might be called for both (but especially) Saturday night if they get there. Go Wahine!
