Amazing stat from the game. Hawaii made 10 hitting errors in the 5th set, and UCSB only had 2 kills.
They really should have won that set going away.

In spite of our history, you have to feel for LB/Brian (NCAA WVB wouldn’t have been the same, obviously, without their own 5 NCs).
This loss has put their program on THE precipice; their backs are fully *upon* the wall so to speak. Gimmillaro once had quite a bit of fight in him through those 90s into those early 2000s but it might be too much to have to muster his inner Capt. America to revitalize the 49ers. The ACC, SEC and perhaps even the AAC are stronger to make things happen for themselves being caustic to others.
They’ll get their wins still, yes this year even, and be quite good in 2014 but it’s ALL an uphill battle.

I think his antics may have motivated the team in the 90’s but his behavior, while amusing because it is the OTHER coach, is unacceptable today. In the old days, the players may have viewed it as support but today it just comes off as bad sportsmanship and whining. It’s an embarrassment to the team and poor role modeling. Dave would have benched Ally Longo no matter what the score if she bitched at the lineman the way that the LB libero did… If Dave behaved like BG, I wouldn’t be so excited to support him and the program. Just saying…
His antics today are hurting the program more than helping it.
