Fame game

The Hawaii football program might not have fortune, but it will have Fame.

Initial plans call for a Hawaii section to be included in the new College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta. The museum will open in 2014.

Moving the Hall of Fame to Atlanta makes more sense.

It seems that most Hall of Fame sites are in hard-to-reach places. Cooperstown? That’s so isolated it should have been a WAC campus.

Doesn’t look like Allen Sampson has gained any weight. Is that his version of the shaka sign? Is Dustin’s weight still around 270? A real bruising fullback in short-yardage situations would be nice to have. Plus good for pass-blocking.

Although Cooperstown may be difficult to reach, there is much history and sentiment for that location.

Sampson, Anguay, and Elisara all bring something to the table. Sampson, slot receiving, and kick returning. Anguay, KO and punt returns, reverses. Elisara, fullback blocking in short yardage situations. Gotta stay on the field so get well.

Giants ain’t gonna make the playoffs if they play like this. Bobby Curran will be very sad. Yeah! I knew they weren’t going to make it. It’s just so hard to repeat. Cowboys’ chances are slim at best. If the Giants lose to the Ravens, I think the Redskins win the NFL East even if they lose to the Cowboys next week because of the tiebreakers. But I could be wrong.

The AFC playoff teams are all determined.

  44. Derek December 23, 2012 1:38 pm

Mistake. Cowboys will be in the playoffs, if the beat the Redskins. Both teams also can make it via the wildcard along with Seattle and Minnesota. Two of them will make it. Cowboys or Washington will win the NFL east.

  45. Derek December 23, 2012 1:42 pm

Bears also in the hunt at 9-6. They play Detroit next week.

Sigh. Just gets, well, less 12-21-2012 for the 12-21-2012ers. From (eek, talk about add insult to injury!) France 24:

Mayan temple damaged in tourist ‘apocalypse’ frenzy

Tourists flocking to Guatemala for “end of the world” parties have damaged an ancient stone temple at Tikal, the largest archeological site and urban center of the Mayan civilization.

“Sadly, many tourists climbed Temple II and caused damage,” said Osvaldo Gomez, a technical adviser at the site, which is located some 550 kilometers (340 miles) north of Guatemala City.

“We are fine with the celebration, but (the tourists) should be more aware because this is a (UNESCO) World Heritage Site,” he told local media.

Gomez did not specify what was done, although he did say it was forbidden to climb the stairs at the site and indicated that the damage was irreparable.

Temple II, which is about 38 meters (125 feet) high and faces the central Tikal plaza, is one of the site’s best known structures.

Friday marked the end of an era that lasted 5,200 years, according to the Mayan “Long Count” calendar. Some believed the date also marked the end of the world as foretold by Mayan hieroglyphs.

More than 7,000 people visited Tikal on Friday to see native Mayan priests hold a colorful ceremony and light fires as the sun emerged to mark the new era.

Critics complained that the event was really for tourists and had little to do with the Mayans. About 42 percent of Guatemala’s 14.3 million residents are native Mayans, and most live in poverty and endure discrimination.

The ancient Mayans reached their peak of power in Central America between the years 250 and 900 AD.

UNESCO declared Tikal a World Heritage Site in 1979.

So, since PC has launched its very real death with a bang (oh. What an unsavory pun for the 12-21-2012ers.) with their little apocalyblunder, the rest of us will say (with more validity than ever; as if it was ever in trouble) Merrrrrrrrrrrrrry CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!.
