Ex-UCR forward Fox visiting

Apparently, Josh Fox wants another crack at the Big West Conference.

Fox, a former forward at UC Riverside, is taking an official visit to Hawaii this weekend as a recruit for the 2014 season. He attends City College of San Francisco this season and would have two years of eligibility should he complete his associates degree on schedule. (Should he pick UH, there would be no penalty wait time for his prior affiliation with the Big West, because of the time he spent at a JUCO in between.)

The 6-foot-6 Fox, who plays small or power forward, averaged 9.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game for the 6-25 Highlanders last season. He played in 27 contests, including two against UH, before his season came to an end four games prematurely because of a torn ACL. He shot 45.6 percent from the field and 63.5 percent from the free-throw line.

Against UH, he had 12 points and six boards in a 76-61 loss to the ‘Bows in Honolulu, and 10 points and six caroms in a 72-68 defeat to visiting UH in Riverside. He had a similar role for his team that Isaac Fotu did for UH.

Fox attended Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep in the Bay Area for high school, the same school as UH women’s forward Kamilah Jackson.

Chances are he’ll observe at least one Rainbow Warriors practice while he’s here.

    Mahalo, Brian…

Any Feedback on Last Weekʻs Visitor?

Remember Fox, he had some hops and athleticism, Poly talent. True to his word Gib trying to keep that Pacific Rim connection going, Pretty athletic SF, with a huge upside, hope he considers committing. As well as, K-Bay, you always positive bro, thanks, what happened to the other recruit that visited last week?

Will Evan Fitzner be visiting? He is a huge PAC 12 get. Would be something, he would be a combo of Standhardinger and Jovanovich, with Bill Walton type skills, no kidding , the young guy has huge upside and still growing?!

Keep us up to date Brian, Gib is on a roll, having possible, really close early commits for early Nov 2013 LOI signing date, if he gets one more to commit, this November in addition to Isaac Fleming, will attract 3 or 4 star type, hopefully for the final two scholarhships for next year., However, would not put it past, Gib, if one of the 5 preferred walkons, really blew up this year, major contributor, and earned that 4 scholie, would be nice!

Keep the front line reports coming Brian, UH MBB and us 40 year veteran long time die hard, as well as newbie fans, need UH MBB to have big year this year, along with Laura’s girls!

Mahalo Brian, keep MBB front and center, blogwise, tweets, and frontpage articles of SA Sports, UH at SSC , for Athletic Dept sake and MBB need, close to 7500 tickets sold each game, with a couple of near sellouts. They win , fans will come out. Keep promoting UH MBB, Brian, that is your dept, and now you are doing Gib and team a great service! Hope Gib responds with NCAA or NIT invite!

    Mahalo Brian!

If Gib flies Fox in, has to offer 2 yr full ride scholarship I assume Brian right? Makes absolutely no sense, according to another poster, that says, he will be preferred wakon. I remember all the preferred walkons were contacted by phone and offered spot on roster as walkons, none that I can recall were given recruiting visits, some they just , the UH coaches, watched, video, or their contacts told UH MBB staff about Hackman, Valdes, Filopovich, and Haper correct?

If Fox is coming here for visit, offer for scholie might be on the talble, we shall see, I know Gib mentioned several that committed to take visits, so let’s see who signs that second or third LOI early Nov 2013!

    Thankyou Brian!

J-Fox might be The Next K-Sham OR Standhardinger…
A Transfer who (Like Some of Us?) sees something better in Basketball And Life in Hawaiʻi Nei…

(pb, FTR, there have been Trippers in Gibʻs years that wanted to come & sign NLOI, that did Not pass the Team Test…and some (i think) who were only offered walk-on verus NLOI…

K-Bay, mahalo! I did not know that, I always thought the visit came with offer of full ride scholarship. However, you notice, Gib strategy of putting team together, with huge roster, and message getting out, come to Hawaii, either way, as preferred walkon or scholie player, very special place to be, and you and your talents helping TEAM can affect winning on the court and in life!

Thanks again K-Bay, you always have something positive and helpful to post!
