Hartong finalist for Senior CLASS Award
Hartong one of the 10, announced this morning
Ten NCAA women’s volleyball student-athletes who excel both on and off the court were selected as finalists today for the 2013 Senior CLASS Award® in collegiate volleyball. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
The finalists were chosen by a media committee from the list of 30 candidates announced in August. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to help select the winner. Fans are encouraged to vote on the website through December 9. Fan votes will be combined with media and Division I head coaches’ votes to determine the winner. The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2013 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship in December.

Vote more then once each day. Just erase your cookies/history under the tools tab. Each vote right now is increasing Emily’s percentage by .2% each time. Also lowers the leaders percentage. Voted at least 15 times in the last 10 minutes.
It’s actually the clear history option under tools.
Last 30 minutes Hartong has taken the lead. Leads with 16.2% now.
WOW that was quick. Around 7 am she had 6 % of the vote and right now 17%

Just had a thought – maybe the Wahine losing a few games will bring out a better crowd. After all, I think people got comfortable with thinking UH was going to win every game so they stopped going. Now, game to game, it doesn’t appear a given that they will win(although we certainly hope so).
There is no need for cheating.
Remember how we complained loudly about voter fraud when Kanani was up for the same award.
IIRC, the last time with softball(?), when it became clear that fans were violating the one vote/day rule and electronically stuffing the ballot box, the Award people started going in and deleting votes from those players whose vote totals were clearly inflated.
We can bring Emily across the finish line like we did for Kanani. Yes, spread the word among friends and family, near and far, and vote.
16. Fan voting is only part of what determines the winner. There are other factors involved.

But how is that any different than voting multiple times (once a day) from multiple devices, or clearing browser history so you can vote multiple times a day from the same device? I heartily agree we want Emily to win because she deserves it, but fans for every other competing candidate are going to do the same thing. And as sure as the NSA is listening in on us, someone out there must know how to do robo-voting.

Re: robo voting.
I’m not so sure that would be a good idea. I recall a couple of years ago when Stephanie Ricketts (I think) was up for the award, and another player from another school was getting large amounts of votes in a short period of time, which looked suspect. Many of those votes suddenly disappeared and that player dropped quite a bit in the standings, so I think that the website managers may have a way to track the voting process. Maybe better to use stuff like social media, etc. to get the word out and get as many fans as possible involved.

What a lineup! Only name I didn’t recognize is the Western Kentucky candidate. It’s highly likely we’ll be facing Natalie Hagglund (USC’s all-time dig record holder) and/or Carly Wopat (twin of Sam Wopat) in the regionals. Go Emily, you make us all proud.

#27. Friday’s (11-20) match of HS seniors @ the Key is probably what I’ll “ticket punch” that FF weekend. UH, although just as honorable as everyone else this season, is a long shot to make it to Seattle.

It’s likely too late. Staff will likely work its crew with what its got; face saving a must, but, boy, those girls are likely going to be worked hard for the rest of the season.
I wish Shoji would focus upon passing/defense. I know that this is a new era in which offense trumps ball handling, yet UH lost to UCSB, CSUN, and Davis because of frustrations which they created for Na Wahine.
*I hope that the Wahine could be the “frustration factor” to the national scene that BW teams have been to them.

Could this be Shoji’s last year even though he’s on contract through 2014?? Doesn’t he get penalized/fined IF he opts out of any binding agreement?
Looks like robo voting for the Michigan St. player. I just voted and her and Hartong were practically tied now the Michigan St. player is up by 8 %

UCLA’s too good a team not to make it into the NC2As.
The PAC is gauranteed a minimal four teams (WA, OR, Stanford, $C); factor in Cal, the AZ schools and U-C-L-A who will NOT miss the tourney, and more than half of the conference is “in”. B1G teams are probably more numorous this season, but not as top heavy/STRONG as the PAC this 2013. Other past years have seen this reversed.
Both these conferences are the premier VB conferences as many know and they go back and forth in “quality” (having da power @tops) vs. “quantity” (for the number of schools which will be selected into the postseason).
The SEC and Big12..dunno.

31. Not sure why you’re brining up UCLA since I have not mentioned anything but they are not ‘too good of team.’
they are 3-7 in the pac-12, 12-8 overall.
they are in eighth place. even Colorado and Utah are ahead of them.
their RPI is 35
they are not ranked, not even receiving votes.
unless they get back above .500 in conference I do not see them getting into the tournament.

UCLA will turn it around. Coaches @ Westwood are too good themselves to let the team slip further. Stauber isn’t in the lineup but is a sub–just as she was at UH.
We’ll say “two good of team(s)”, then, with UH headed down that same straight..er..ah wIndy road dead-ending with Houston, Pacific, Utah State, and LSU waiting to greet them. 😉

Never mind i found it. I was on my phone so it wasnt showing up. USC Natalie Hagglund is probably hartongs biggest competitor if both teams make it far. Now i know making it far has nothing to do with it, but it does help.
Just keep voting for Em everyday don’t be overly concerned about others possibly cheating it will be taken care of in the end.

40. Thanks i found it! When you do it on your phone it does not show. I had to go on a computer. Haha. But honestly hartongs biggest competition is Natalie Hagglund. Shes is one of the best, if not the best libero at the moment. If they both teams make it far in the ncaa tournament it will be a close race. Now i know that where the team loses doesnt really affect who gets the award, it does help.

Is anybody having problem voting for Emily.Its been over 24 hrs since i voted,and when i try to vote again it says i already voted.

Another thing, I deleted my browsing history each time I voted and was able to vote multiple times. -just sharing
