Watched CSUN/Davis match and LBSU/Poly which was difficult because they started at the same time, required a lot of switching screens.

Impressed with CSUN,Davis and Poly.LBSU seems to be struggling at times.

Cal Poly kept tweeting about a packed house at both matches but photos and video didn’t back that up.

PERFECT STORMS — 4 UNDEFEATED NCAA D1 TEAMS LEFT STANDING – THOUGH NCAA.COM SAYS IT IS 6 LOL

~ Courtesy of the Who Cares! Department ~

Missouri (16-0)/SEC (1-0) : Tigers, whose recruiting class (with 2 Hawaii players) is 18th best in the nation acc. to PrepVolleyball.com, was expected to finish #3 in the SEC — after Florida and Kentucky … Team #1 in the nation in hitting percentage

    [#14] North Carolina (13-0)/ACC (1-0)

    [#19] Colorado St. (12-0)/Mountain West (3-0)

    [#2] Washington (10-0)/Pac-12 (2-0)

Not much wiggle room, but I expect all of the above ranked teams to move up in Monday’s AVCA Coaches Poll.

Mizzou is the nation’s only undefeated left unrecognized. Granted I said last week and the week before last that the Tigers would obtain that 1 vote on at least 2 ballots needed to be listed among the nation’s elite. Hasn’t happened yet. Will happen in Monday’s new poll.

[Q: When it comes to undefeated seasons, 4 D1schools accomplished this feat. Can you name them? Try answering without googleing. Answer will be posted in Cindy’s next link.]

Didnt Shoji mention that he had three recruits for 2014 and was looking for one more and has a good chance for a fourth? (Correct me if I’m wrong) Would this be the one most likely?

  7. Cindy Luis September 29, 2013 11:36 am

He did mention Maybe a fourth. don’t know who was there Friday

  8. hollycow September 29, 2013 12:01 pm

Three recruits for 2014 with verbal, Kalei Greeley, Savannah Kahakai and Emily Maglio. Gina Guianasso (sp?) is playing sand and walking on for indoors.
Mentioned above the fourth possible verbal recruit, Friday at the Fullerton match, Megan Huff, 6’2, OH/MB, class of 2014, Todd Beamer High, Federal Way, Washington.
Previously at the Arizona match, Casey Castillo, 6’3, OP/OH, class of 2015, Santa Fe Christian High, San Diego.

Senior Megan Huff, a 6-foot-2 outside hitter, has garnered the interest from several Division-I volleyball programs around the country. Places like Oregon State, Portland State, Hawaii, New Mexico, Boise State, among others, are taking a long, hard look at Huff, who is also one of the better basketball players in the state.

Huff proved herself on the volleyball court during the summer when her 17-under Puget Sound Volleyball Academy team won the gold medal at the Girls Junior National Volleyball Championships in the 17-under Patriot Division. – Federal Way Mirror

Last season, Huff finished with 217 kills, 125 digs for the Titans, who finished 7-9 overall on the year.

Sounds like Huff is a better basketball than volleyball player. I wonder if Laura Beeman is recruiting her as well.

At any rate she seems like a project player if she’s a senior who hasn’t committed yet. Other recruits who I have seen be connected to Hawaii are Annie Mitchem, (but according to CL she may not be until 2015) and Adora Anae. There was that article last week that said Hawaii was still recruiting her even though she committed to Utah. It sounded like she was having second thoughts about going away. In the article she mentioned that she’s worried about being homesick.

With the 6 scholarship players graduating they may get a transfer in the offseason as well.

    10. Maybe for now, but she might be a late bloomer like Kalei. I like that she plays guard/wing on her basketball team she must be quick for her size. If she does play basketball at UH she would be a freebie for the volleyball team which is always nice to have.
