Game day: UC Davis

Bryant Moniz tied an NCAA record with his seven first-half touchdown passes. He also broke the school records for TD passes in a half and most passing yards (424 yards).

One of the specialists asked why the WB never posts any group pictures of the specialists. Well, they never asked. So they asked.

From left: Kenton Chun, Kyle Niiro, Alex Dunnachie, Luke Ingram and Tyler Hadden.

During down time, there is a kicking competition. The object is to kick the football into a trash can about 45 yards away.

Alex Dunnachie has accomplished the feat once, and has struck the side of the can twice:

Practice how you play? Long-snapper Luke Ingram agrees. He wears the same shoes in practice as he does in games. And, as shown here, he also doesn’t wear socks in practices or games, either. (And, yes, wise acres, he does tie his shoelaces.)

During walk-throughs, the players often trade jerseys, for fun and to throw off spies. Here’s safety Leroy Lutu wearing quarterback David Graves’ jersey:

The night before the game, the top 66 players (and additional two scout players) check into a Waikiki hotel. In the past, Friday night meant going to the movies. But, alas, because of budget cuts, movie nights are out. Instead, there are meetings, video reviews, snacks, and more meetings.

Here’s Dunnachie ready to board the bus to the hotel yesterday:

    Hey WMojo,

Incredibly, I passed up a chance to see TOP last week in Vegas but the alternative was most Tsatisfactory!

Yep, that would be a problem.

By the way, several Warriors have excellent vision, better than 20/20, such as Moniz, Paredes, Pollard …

  51. Hilo-Warrior September 24, 2011 9:45 am

Just out of curiosity what is the spread for tonight’s game?

  52. Matt September 24, 2011 9:55 am

    Hilo-Warrior,

    Around 25 points.

    http://www.vegasinsider.com/college-football/odds/las-vegas/

  53. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 9:58 am

Now that a week has passed, I have to admit… platooning the DBs may not be all that bad an idea even though they gave up the 80 yarder which hurt. Gotta mix and match till Aranda finds the best combinations, though.

  54. whitey September 24, 2011 10:03 am

hey ralphie, kstate up 7-0 vs miami at miami

  55. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 10:04 am

But gotta be careful though, as 3/4s of all the scores against Hawaii (85 pts) have come par avion.

  56. Sting September 24, 2011 10:24 am

    ST,

I think it’s Matagisila, not Matigasili.

  57. Slugger September 24, 2011 10:24 am

    Hi, gang!

Gotta finish salad, pack the ka’a & go.

ST ~ Thanks for the pics! I have seen Alex hit the garbage can; I thought it went in, too.

Don’t know if any parents are showing up at our T-Gate. The Aussies are going to hang with the Stutzmanns. I’m still bringing sangria… 😀

K, betta hele on… see ya there!

    GO WARRIORS!!!

  58. Stephen Tsai September 24, 2011 10:28 am

    Good morning Tsaikos!!

BP still in oven. Will be heading to the t-gate when it’s done. Remember, you snooze, you lose.

    GO WARRIORS!!

    GO WAHINE!!

  60. cocobean September 24, 2011 11:50 am

Whoa…Aneli still looks like she can suit up and have an impact at outside lb. Need some aggressive play opposite Brown.

  61. al September 24, 2011 11:51 am

i hope that the warriors find their mojo today.

i hope that at least 30k fans show up today.

i hope that the coaches have their smart hats on today.

i hope that someone brings lobster for the grill today.

  62. Ralph September 24, 2011 11:52 am

Na Wahine wins in 4 over Utah State. Danielson and Croson lead the way in kills. Hewitt out of action after the first set. Adolpho did a good job as her sub. Utah State hit .09.

  63. al September 24, 2011 11:53 am

cocobean…we miss aneli fire n ice on the court.

fire as is the attitude, spiritual leader, vocalness, and the like.

ice as in her veins to play with no fear and never to hang your head.

    (btw, who’s brown?)

  64. al September 24, 2011 11:54 am

    ralphie…what happened to brittany?

  65. tom mui September 24, 2011 12:02 pm

    AL #65

“The Wahine were without All-American middle Brittany Hewitt for most of the match. Hewitt did not play after Set 1 after she appeared to aggravate a back injury. .”

  66. Ralph September 24, 2011 12:05 pm

Don’t know, Hewitt left after the set and returned from the tunnel in sweats per Cindy. Adolpho played the next 3 sets for her. She had issues with her back at the start of the season, so it could be a recurring issue after a long plane ride.

  67. d1shima September 24, 2011 12:17 pm

    WooHoo!

    Wildcats roll over Leopards, 52-3!

    Wildcats beating the you-know-what outta UNCO 😉 , 45-21 in the 4th…

  68. Wes'side Warrior September 24, 2011 12:33 pm

    Game day, Baby!

Keep your heads in the game from start to finish!

    Go, Warriors!!!

  69. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 12:47 pm

Ya know? It’s nice to have a good looking Ching-Field for visiting teams to be able to walk through. I hope they had soap in the showers! …

  70. wafan September 24, 2011 12:51 pm

Interesting how the Warriors use Ching because it is easier/better to video practices. UCD used Ching for their walk-through.

    Hmmmmmmm . . .

    Dang.

    Thanks, ST, for the pix!

    Go WARRIORS!

    UH 41 UCD 9

  77. Garret September 24, 2011 1:18 pm

Memphis had a really bad day.

They lost 42-0 to SMU in front of their home crowd at homecoming.

Note to Memphis: try to pick a team that won’t embarrass you in future years when you choose your homecoming game date.

  78. Committed Road Warrior September 24, 2011 2:05 pm

I see that Nebraska is playing Wyoming in Laramie…I wonder how many games the Pokes will have to play in Lincoln in future years just to get this marquee home game on the schedule?

  79. whitey September 24, 2011 2:10 pm

crw, sometime long ago, if it wasn’t for a hc from wyoming going to nebraska, they probably wouldn’t have had the success they enjoyed through the years. same for purdue.

  80. whitey September 24, 2011 2:14 pm

la tech is no slouch and they are playing miss st pretty tough. their qb is tall and can see over his line, but if our d can put pressure, they can disrupt his passing. but da warriors do not play them till next week.

  81. postmanke September 24, 2011 2:32 pm

La Tech is impressive 8 WR’s touching the ball in the 1st half. Hopefully Miss St can soften them up for us..

SJSU’s Rutley 33 carries 207 yards impressive as well.

Get ready for some smash mouth! set the tone tonight!

  82. Committed Road Warrior September 24, 2011 2:38 pm

Wow. New Mexico is THAT bad? They’re not only trailing 1AA Sam Houston State, but at one point was down by 2 TDs.

Also, congrats to SJSU for finally breaking their 13-game losing streak in the form of beating NMSU.

  83. Garret September 24, 2011 2:41 pm

    CRW,

Not only is New Mexico THAT bad, they were 6 point underdogs at home to a D-IAA team. And Sam Houston State isn’t even one of the tougher D-IAA teams.

The sad thing is that the D-IAA team may actually cover the point spread on the road…

  84. rainbowfan September 24, 2011 2:53 pm

How come Shioji didn’t use Adolpho more earlier ? Was he saving her for later ?

Also Rollo should change quarterbacks if it looks like Moniz isn’t on for a game like a relief pitcher comes in sometimes. Tonight he should be okay.

Look at June Jones, he changed the quarterback during a recent game and also last year, although he didn’t do that much when he was at UH. Brian Kelly changed his quarterback during the first Notre Dame game.

  85. rainbowfan September 24, 2011 2:59 pm

Note that Adolpho was in on 8 blocks and had 7 kills out of 8 attempts for .875 in 3 games.

  86. Ipu Man September 24, 2011 3:01 pm

Any problems with the politically correct Aloha Stadium authority

    policing the tailgaters yet?

  87. iwonderwhytheyhateme September 24, 2011 3:03 pm

    Win tonight.

    That is all.

    Go Warriors!

  88. Ipu Man September 24, 2011 3:03 pm

TV news said they were handing out a flyer (in teeny-weeny print)

listing all the no-no’s, among them no frizbees or footballs.

Tsai, guess that means just eating and drinking…burp?

  89. postmanke September 24, 2011 3:18 pm

    Dear Rolo,

Can you let our RB’s run loose and let the O line have some fun tonight? pleeeaaassse!

  90. Ipu Man September 24, 2011 3:21 pm

P.S. Rolo, release yourself like you did the first game, too…

    Run, Rolo, Run!

  91. Ipu Man September 24, 2011 3:22 pm

    And pass looooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

    nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng!

  92. Committed Road Warrior September 24, 2011 3:24 pm

La. Tech playing good for being 20 point underdogs.

  93. Ipu Man September 24, 2011 3:25 pm

And receivors, just because Rolo’s pass may look like it

is “uncatchable”, ignite your inner sparkplugs, and run to

it and under it and CATCH it…and score! Mahalo for not

    giving up.

  94. iwonderwhytheyhateme September 24, 2011 3:32 pm

Flyer is in standard 12 point font.

If people can’t read it, invest in a pair of reading glasses.

  95. rainbowfan September 24, 2011 3:36 pm

UH doesn’t have a big play man yet like Pilares or Bradley a few years ago or a Lelie or a Golden Richards .

  96. Ipu Man September 24, 2011 3:39 pm

iwonderwhytheyhateyou, no need to bully people like me who squint

at small print the older we get…

Probably half if not more of their intended target audience is over 50.

If you want to get people to read your “stuff”, make it easy for them.

  97. Ipu Man September 24, 2011 3:42 pm

    …unless you are a lawyer.

  98. Ipu Man September 24, 2011 3:46 pm

    …or bureaucrat.

  99. J September 24, 2011 3:48 pm

…or pake and conserving ink and paper.

  100. Ipu Man September 24, 2011 3:50 pm

Ahhhh, J, thank you, it is good to laugh on this blog again.

  101. iwonderwhytheyhateme September 24, 2011 3:51 pm

    Ok,

I’ll suggest to the stadium authority to pass out the rules on poster boards.

  102. Ipu Man September 24, 2011 3:55 pm

    Burma Shave…

  103. wafan September 24, 2011 4:00 pm

    Have fun at the TG!

    Wish I could be there.

    Tsigh . . .

  104. Committed Road Warrior September 24, 2011 4:00 pm

Some embarrassing scores from today if you happen to be the FBS team:

Sam Houston State beats New Mexico in OT, 38-35.

Minnesota loses to North Dakota State by a score of 37-24.

Also, UNLV is trailing Southern Utah 10-7 midway through the 2nd.

  105. wafan September 24, 2011 4:01 pm

Less than 2 hours to kick-off.

    Go Warriors!

  106. J September 24, 2011 4:01 pm

Might be better to list what is allowed; shorter list.

  107. 4UH September 24, 2011 4:04 pm

What about that 17 yr old LA Tech QB??? Going into OT.

  108. iwonderwhytheyhateme September 24, 2011 4:05 pm

UNLV isn’t a good team. It is not surprising.

    3-9 season at best.

Not that I care though haha.

  109. wafan September 24, 2011 4:07 pm

That stadium has so many rules it is almost more fun to watch the game at home.

‘Course, if some of the folks did not behave like fools.

  110. NYUH September 24, 2011 4:08 pm

La Tech blew it and going into overtime at Miss St. Still, impressive showing.

  111. wafan September 24, 2011 4:09 pm

The blog is a pleasant place, once again!

    Thank you, Mr. Tsai!!!

  112. Stephen Tsai September 24, 2011 4:17 pm

It took me 22 minutes to get to the game.

    No traffic at all.

  113. Matt September 24, 2011 4:18 pm

Tough loss for LA Tech in OT. A couple of mistakes toward the end by their true frosh QB. They had a chance to win in regulation and were within FG range when he threw his first pick. Glad we’re getting away from playing LA Tech after this year. That freshman is going to be a good one.

  114. Hank September 24, 2011 4:59 pm

I think this is a very important game for Coach Aranda.

  115. hotpinkuggs September 24, 2011 4:59 pm

There is no doubt that ugg is becoming the new hot topic among the fashion people. YIKES 4 turnovers by UNLV! Just like Hawaii!

  123. Unkanesson September 24, 2011 5:33 pm

    Howzit Tsai-ko Nation!

Is it just me or is ESPN1420 having trouble with their streaming audio? It keeps shutting down and I have to keep starting it up again. Anyone else having this problem? Very frustrating, and it’s the only way I have to witness the game live. I may have to rely on a Tsai-ko play-by-play if this keeps up. Aaaarrrrrrgh!!

  124. postmanke September 24, 2011 5:35 pm

    Make that 24 points… 34 to 10

  125. sports for fun September 24, 2011 5:35 pm

Just like how Hawai’i took UNLV lightly, UNLV took S. Utah lightly.

  126. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 5:38 pm

yeah.. but UNLV is playing at HOME! :-O

  127. postmanke September 24, 2011 5:40 pm

Seeing teams like So Utah makes me wonder if BYU-UH or HPU would ever field a football team.

  128. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 5:40 pm

Make that 5 turnoevers.. interception for a TD! 40-10 :O

  129. postmanke September 24, 2011 5:41 pm

Make that 31 points.. 41-10 wow!

  130. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 5:41 pm

    41-10

  131. J September 24, 2011 5:41 pm

Earlier had screen crawl on ESPN Gameplan that they were having some technical issues from the site. Not sure if those issues also carry over to the audio stream.

  145. Garret September 24, 2011 5:57 pm

  151. Garret September 24, 2011 6:06 pm

Nice long TD pass! 34 yards to Pollard!

  152. A-joe September 24, 2011 6:07 pm

Das how! Alllllllll Night!!! Go vertical!!!

  153. Matt September 24, 2011 6:08 pm

I think his foot was on the end line, but too late it counts.

  154. J September 24, 2011 6:08 pm

Yeah, I thought the TD was going to be reviewed.

  155. postmanke September 24, 2011 6:09 pm

  157. Garret September 24, 2011 6:12 pm

  158. Matt September 24, 2011 6:12 pm

    Paipai is hurt. Not good.

  159. Stephen Tsai September 24, 2011 6:13 pm

  160. postmanke September 24, 2011 6:13 pm

  166. A-joe September 24, 2011 6:19 pm

  167. Matt September 24, 2011 6:20 pm

Nice job getting his foot down.

  168. LizKauai (iPhone) September 24, 2011 6:22 pm

    Chee Hoo!

Moniz and company are in rhythm. Must be the clean Hawaii air!

The camera work is not that good yet. I do like how Robert is doing.

    21-0.

  169. Konaboy September 24, 2011 6:23 pm

This offensive show is what I have been missing, and exactly what they should being doing against a div. 2 team. On a side note, the oceanic broadcast is not true hi-def quality. Why is the resolution so bad?!

  170. Konaboy September 24, 2011 6:25 pm

169, Robert sounds excited to be commentating on TV. He is doing a great job, glad he is doing PPV.

  171. A-joe September 24, 2011 6:25 pm

During the break stadium staff are going onto the field to remove some of the large confetti

  172. mauifarmdog September 24, 2011 6:26 pm

Did the warrior’s go no huddle for a couple of plays in the last series? I can’t tell from tv.

  173. Matt September 24, 2011 6:26 pm

    Nice stop Defense!

  174. genital psoriasis September 24, 2011 6:26 pm

An attention-grabbing discussion is worth comment. I believe that it is best to write extra on this topic, it might not be a taboo subject however generally people are not sufficient to speak on such topics. To the next. Cheers

  175. Unkanesson September 24, 2011 6:28 pm

Success! I dug out my emergency radio that has AM band, and sure enough it’s picking up 1420! My car radio can’t get it. Noisy signal, but at least I can follow the game. And mahalo ke akua, it’s a game I’m enjoying following!!

    GO WARRIORS!!

  176. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 6:31 pm

MOniz on a run for a 1st down! whoo hoo!! Warriors on a rampage..

  177. mauifarmdog September 24, 2011 6:32 pm

Does of the offensive pace seem faster to you? I like setting a fast tempo. But can’t tell b/c play clock not working on tv,

  178. Matt September 24, 2011 6:34 pm

TD to Pollard for 28 yards!!!

  179. duffer September 24, 2011 6:34 pm

These head first slides are gonna take its toll on Moniz. Slide feet first.

  180. Matt September 24, 2011 6:34 pm

or not. Coming back on a hold.

  181. A-joe September 24, 2011 6:37 pm

I think everyone knows about our shovel pass already

  182. Konaboy September 24, 2011 6:39 pm

O-Line still looks shaky at times

  183. duffer September 24, 2011 6:39 pm

Run the option on 4th down.

  184. Matt September 24, 2011 6:40 pm

TD to Pollard for real this time.

  185. A-joe September 24, 2011 6:40 pm

    VERTICAL!!!!

  186. duffer September 24, 2011 6:40 pm

Or throw it in the endzone. 🙂

  187. Konaboy September 24, 2011 6:40 pm

    Moniz is in the groove!

  188. duffer September 24, 2011 6:42 pm

Are they kicking short on purpose?

  189. Isaac September 24, 2011 6:43 pm

I love how UH is totally showing up all those naysayers who were saying UH was gna lose to an FCS team…seriously, some people

  190. postmanke September 24, 2011 6:43 pm

    Moniz got Vertical hops tonight!

The O-line is money tonight so far!

  191. Matt September 24, 2011 6:44 pm

No way they kick it that short on purpose.

  192. Matt September 24, 2011 6:52 pm

Harding in the game at slot.

  193. Matt September 24, 2011 6:52 pm

    Paclebar too. Rotating receivers.

  194. Matt September 24, 2011 6:53 pm

    TD to Bright!!!

  195. Matt September 24, 2011 6:54 pm

Almost didn’t get the XP try off in time.

  196. duffer September 24, 2011 6:54 pm

    Alternating place kickers again?

  197. A-joe September 24, 2011 6:56 pm

Ok. Nothing else to prove. Let’s get the 2nd string in to do some work.

  198. Matt September 24, 2011 6:57 pm

Maybe Chun wanted to get on the box score.

  199. Matt September 24, 2011 6:57 pm

I don’t care what the score is. Mack better leave the starters in and keep the pedal down at least into the 4th quarter. We need to use the live game situations to work out the kinks.

  200. Isaac September 24, 2011 6:57 pm

    Apparently, Bright can catch

  201. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 7:01 pm

Geez… second qtr.. 11 minutes to play, yet…

  202. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 7:02 pm

If Aranda wan’t to platoon in the 2nd half… I say go for it… try it all out in the second half… Wonder who’s going to be throwing in the middle of the 3rd qtr?

  203. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 7:04 pm

    Matt… I disagree..

I thnk with a substantial lead, we need to break in the reserves… give as much playing time as possible..tape to study and improve on BEFORE they are needed in the future.

  204. A-joe September 24, 2011 7:05 pm

    TUNDA CLAPP!!!

  205. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 7:05 pm

Bryant Moniz passing at 80% so far… wow!

  206. Konaboy September 24, 2011 7:06 pm

Clapp is a gamer, glad he is in the receiving corps

  207. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 7:06 pm

Heh.. Warriors look like a well-rounded team, tonight!

  208. Konaboy September 24, 2011 7:10 pm

This is why the first string needs to stay in until the 4th qtr.

  209. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 7:11 pm

Three penalties in a row.. now we start to fall apart? yikes? hope not!

  210. Matt September 24, 2011 7:11 pm

TD to Stuzmann!!! Trying to get everyone involved.

  211. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 7:11 pm

End result still the same.. LOL! TD Hawaii!

  212. Isaac September 24, 2011 7:12 pm

    Up 42 – 0, and it’s not even half-time.

Call me crazy, but I think we’re gonna win this one folks

  213. Konaboy September 24, 2011 7:12 pm

They look well rounded because the opposing secondary is horrible. I’m just glad because Moniz, and Co. Needed a game like this to get a rythm going.

  214. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 7:16 pm

Yeah but our Defense is shutting them out, too… good tune up prior to the WAC season… and it will give us enough of a cushion to give many on the second team and reserves time to show what they can do in a game.

  215. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 7:17 pm

Right now… UC Davis must be wondering why they don’t remember halftime… and when the whistle blows.. they’ll head to locker.. pack there things and get reminded by the coach that they still have a half to go..

  216. Matt September 24, 2011 7:17 pm

    madeinhawaii,

I guess we disagree. Just because we look good now against a lower division opponent, our starters still need to stay in to get the timing down. Our starters need the practice. UC Davis is making us seem better than we really are. We have not looked good on offense all year. Our receivers have very little practice time with Mo. Our offensive line is still making mistakes. Our RBs are pretty much a non factor. Kahuku plays better offense than UC Davis has so far. Nothing makes up for real game speed reps.

Plus, we’ve already been rotating in our backup receivers and defensive front 7 anyway.

  217. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 7:18 pm

I ‘m starting to feel badly for them.

  218. Konaboy September 24, 2011 7:19 pm

UH is doing exactly what WAC champs should be doing against UC-Davis.

  219. Isaac September 24, 2011 7:20 pm

It’s hilarious how some people on this thread thought we would lose because this team beat San Jose St. last year. Did they realize San Jose St. didn’t beat an FBS team last year? Today was their first win against an FBS team in 2 seasons. What rationalization led them to believe there was any relevance to that situation? Auwe…

  220. Konaboy September 24, 2011 7:20 pm

O-line did a great job on that 16 yd. Play.

  221. Konaboy September 24, 2011 7:22 pm

2 bad passing plays in a row, Ala last 2 road games. Kinks still need working out…

  222. Buffoman September 24, 2011 7:26 pm

Is Stutz supposed to be good/great? Looks pretty average to me. I.m not impressed. Harding looks like a player,as does Sampson and Pollard. And lets face it, our o-line is not good. against this level they still look weak.

  223. Konaboy September 24, 2011 7:27 pm

Receivers have been making awesome catches in the first half!

  224. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 7:27 pm

    Isaac,

I still remember when Hawaii was a Division II team.. Nobody thought we’d win any game against DI teams.. nobody thought that the first few years when we went up the Div Ia, too. Any time.. any place.. any day… an ounce of faith and a few lucky plays along the way…the game could go the other way.. Just like UNLV and the FCS team they got smashed by today in their own House, to boot.

  225. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 7:29 pm

I think Hawaii is trying to run out the clock… not wanting to score too quick on this drive before the half is out..

  226. Konaboy September 24, 2011 7:29 pm

Buffoman was thinking the same thing about the O-line. They appear to have their hands full at times against this Div. 2 squad.

  227. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 7:29 pm

Heh.. spoke too soon, yah? TD HAWAII

  228. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 7:30 pm

Is that a new UH record? 7 TD in a half??

  229. Matt September 24, 2011 7:33 pm

Yes that’s a record. He has the record for most yards in a half too. He is one TD off the record for TDs in a game.

  230. postmanke September 24, 2011 7:36 pm

    impressive

  231. Da Punchbowl Kid September 24, 2011 7:37 pm

    That’s what I’m talking ’bout!!!

    GO WARRIORS!!!

  232. LizKauai (iPhone) September 24, 2011 7:37 pm

Is anyone seeing this in HD? Our reception sucks. And the cameraman keeps giving us crotch shots of the cheer squad. WTH!

  233. postmanke September 24, 2011 7:39 pm

Is there a steadicam on the field? some of those end zone shots had some nice movement

  234. iwonderwhytheyhateme September 24, 2011 7:40 pm

I didn’t realize we supposed to stand to God Bless America.

  235. Da Punchbowl Kid September 24, 2011 7:41 pm

HD we got. Looks awesome. Din’t notice the crotch shot though.

  236. longdistance808 September 24, 2011 7:45 pm

    re #217

    Matt,

Totally agree that starters need to stay in for timing practice. Especially if UCD makes adjustments on D. Would be good to give UH an opportunity to see those possible adjustments and can come out strong after a 15 min lull.

  237. Matt September 24, 2011 7:47 pm

Stutz was leading the team in yards before this game so he was doing okay. Before this game he didn’t have any TDs though. This is his first year playing slot and he’s only a Soph. He’ll get better.

Don’t know what got into Pollard this week, but I like it 😉

One thing that we’re still missing from our receivers is blocking downfield. Players like Jason Rivers and Greg Salas were great blockers and helped their teammates get more YAC.

  238. Stephen Tsai September 24, 2011 7:48 pm

Moniz tied NCAA record, also, with the seven TD passes in a half.

  239. postmanke September 24, 2011 7:49 pm

enjoying the commentary. really good job. Its a blow out and they are doing a good job keeping it entertaining. They’ll be earning their money in the 2nd half… add a funny color analyst in pigeon in the booth they’ll be off the hook!

  240. Stephen Tsai September 24, 2011 7:50 pm

Pilares was a great blocker, too.

He also was good at the inadvertent bump that freed Salas.

  241. duffer September 24, 2011 7:52 pm

Looks like Bryant is done for the night! 🙁

  242. Matt September 24, 2011 7:53 pm

Okay, my favorite part of the commentary was when they said that the protection was so good on a particular play that Moniz had enough time to eat a musubi. The UC Davis fans watching on ESPN3 probably gave each other funny looks after that one.

  243. Matt September 24, 2011 7:53 pm

Okay, my favorite part of the commentary was when they said that the protection was so good on a particular play that Moniz had enough time to eat a musubi. The UC Davis fans watching on ESPN3 probably gave each other funny looks after that one.

  244. Matt September 24, 2011 7:54 pm

I guess I really want a musubi since it posted twice.

  245. postmanke September 24, 2011 7:54 pm

    Graves.. 6’0 195 yards?

  246. duffer September 24, 2011 7:55 pm

    Landon Sapolu is in

  247. Matt September 24, 2011 7:57 pm

    That stadium is really empty.

  248. Matt September 24, 2011 8:01 pm

Sounds like Lefiti hurt his knee. GDL was hurt in the first half too.

  249. Matt September 24, 2011 8:02 pm

Two penalties have kept this UC Davis drive alive.

  250. Matt September 24, 2011 8:06 pm

UC Davis TD. Hmm, did they make adjustments at halftime or are the Warriors just shooting themselves in the foot?

  251. postmanke September 24, 2011 8:06 pm

lol every time theres a camera shot on Mac talking to Tomey it’s usually Mac saying WTF?

  252. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 8:06 pm

    TD UC DAVIS! Yay! 😉

  253. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 8:07 pm

Let’s see if Graves or Austin can move the ball for a TD…

  254. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 8:13 pm

Hawaii is playing a game of inches to kill the clock … Hope Graves gets to punch it in.

  255. Old School Dave September 24, 2011 8:18 pm

With regards to the 1420 radio broadcast, is it just me or does BC seems to be in a pissy mood with him more than a few times cutting down Veneri’s commentary. Step outside kind of moment if this continues.

  256. LizKauai (iPhone) September 24, 2011 8:19 pm

Gotta work on that FG team.

  257. Konaboy September 24, 2011 8:22 pm

Tomey should be fired effective immediately as ST coach. This is the worst UH ST has played in a season and it’s only week 4.

  258. Matt September 24, 2011 8:23 pm

Mack still has the starting D in.

  259. iwonderwhytheyhateme September 24, 2011 8:24 pm

    Kicking continues to SUCK…

  260. Matt September 24, 2011 8:25 pm

UC Davis moving the ball better this half.

  261. iwonderwhytheyhateme September 24, 2011 8:25 pm

What’s more is they allow 1st team starters to play on special teams. They are supposed to be our primo players.

  262. Konaboy September 24, 2011 8:25 pm

And the D looks like it has started to lose interest….. gotta stay disciplined.

  263. LizKauai (iPhone) September 24, 2011 8:26 pm

    Camerawork still kinda iffy.

  264. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 8:27 pm

Maybe the D is trying some new stuff out…

  265. iwonderwhytheyhateme September 24, 2011 8:27 pm

Mack is doing his 2-Timeout crazy talk at midfield….don’t think that is on TV

  266. Konaboy September 24, 2011 8:32 pm

266- good to know he is staying on the D. I like it. Liz, the HD quality is horrible. If they don’t fix this by the next home game I might just bug them about a refund.

  267. Matt September 24, 2011 8:35 pm

    Another TD for UCD

  268. Konaboy September 24, 2011 8:35 pm

    266- apparently it didn’t work.

  269. Matt September 24, 2011 8:45 pm

    Paclebar TD.

  270. Matt September 24, 2011 8:48 pm

Not a TD. Didn’t have control all the way down.

  271. duffer September 24, 2011 8:52 pm

Harding is gonna be one heck of a player.

  272. duffer September 24, 2011 8:54 pm

Thought I saw Inoke on the side line with a headset on.

  273. iwonderwhytheyhateme September 24, 2011 8:55 pm

They should keep Tank in. He needs the practice.

  274. Matt September 24, 2011 8:56 pm

    Backup D is in.

  275. Matt September 24, 2011 9:02 pm

finally got an INT after about 5 chances. Shane Austin in.

  276. Kekoa September 24, 2011 9:04 pm

    Jett is in Liz!

  277. Matt September 24, 2011 9:08 pm

Shutter is in. Not much playing time for Shane.

  278. iwonderwhytheyhateme September 24, 2011 9:09 pm

Is Kenton Chun in at running back?

  279. Matt September 24, 2011 9:10 pm

We should take a knee and kick a FG. Our special teams need work.

  280. Ipu Man September 24, 2011 9:13 pm

    56 – 14 d1shima

    Congratulations

  281. Matt September 24, 2011 9:14 pm

UNLV got smashed by Southern Utah today 41-16. Southern Utah is a FCS team in the same conference as UC Davis.

  282. d1shima September 24, 2011 9:17 pm

    YeeHaw!

Nice to see the team take care of business early.

    On to Ruston!

    Pomai,

    59 – 28 d1shima

  283. Kevin September 24, 2011 9:21 pm

For crying out loud UNLV game PAU long time ago.

Who gives a flying —- what they do???

  284. Ipu Man September 24, 2011 9:21 pm

If Moniz playz the whole game in Ruston, maybe he could easily

    score 59 points…Hmmmmmm.

  285. Ralph September 24, 2011 9:23 pm

UNLV lost to Southern Utah University 41-16.

  286. Ipu Man September 24, 2011 9:23 pm

So, which NFL team will give him a chance?

  287. whitey September 24, 2011 9:24 pm

    Congrats to da warriors

  288. d1shima September 24, 2011 9:25 pm

  290. d1shima September 24, 2011 9:27 pm

Get da vinegar ready for da ‘Dogs!

  291. d1shima September 24, 2011 9:28 pm

  294. Ralph September 24, 2011 9:30 pm

what was the official attendance tonight, looked empty, especially the student section and most of the upper levels-loges, and yellow sections.

  295. wafan September 24, 2011 9:30 pm

    Congratulations, d1!

    Whoo-hoo!!!

  296. wafan September 24, 2011 9:32 pm

    Pomai . . .

    38 – 14 us, naturally.

    Thank you!

  297. wafan September 24, 2011 9:35 pm

The ESPN 3 telecast was surprising clear.

    Lousy camera work, though.

  298. wafan September 24, 2011 9:35 pm

    300!

  299. Buffoman September 24, 2011 9:36 pm

O-line needs work. They look like they have heavy feet and get killed on bull rush by the D-line. Pocket collapses pretty easily on several occasions. Does not look as good as what Moniz had to The talk about someone else being better than Moniz should just stop. They other guy does not have the field vision and quick release of Moniz. And with a less than stellar o-line, that could hurt.

I’d like to see more of Cayman in mop up. he looked pretty comfortable.

  300. d1shima September 24, 2011 9:36 pm

I didn’t realize we supposed to stand to God Bless America.

    No one says you do.

But I will never say you can’t!

  301. Ipu Man September 24, 2011 9:37 pm

D1Shima, coach Mac agrees with you on the post game interview.

He said only 24 hours to enjoy this time. And as you said, he is

still “pecked off” for LA Tech beating them two years ago there.

  302. wafan September 24, 2011 9:37 pm

    Congratulations to Moniz, too.

    Breaking NCAA records is impressive!

    Yeah, yeah . . . it is a system.

  303. Buffoman September 24, 2011 9:38 pm

I don’t know if we can beat LaTech on the road. It would be a pleasant surprise if they did. I’ll be cheering.

  304. d1shima September 24, 2011 9:39 pm

    Buffoman,

Heard BC or JV mention that Makainai-Winchester might have been ready to play tonite. Hopefully, he’ll be good to go on the road trip. That may help.

  305. wafan September 24, 2011 9:39 pm

    re: “pecked-off”

I thought it was the computer speakers or my hearing.

    Glad it is neither.

    HA!

  306. d1shima September 24, 2011 9:40 pm

    Ipu Man,

Heard that. Hopefully, they set the mindset early and deep.

  307. wafan September 24, 2011 9:41 pm

Quick and complete healing to the injured.

    Onward to LA Tech!

  308. wafan September 24, 2011 9:41 pm

    Nytal!

  309. d1shima September 24, 2011 9:42 pm

Sounded like “ticked off” to me.

Whatever it is, Go in Angry!

  310. Michael Wacht September 24, 2011 9:43 pm

Terrific website. Many thanks for finding the time to post it. I have added your website as well as will make sure to come again quite often.

  311. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 9:45 pm

Maybe this game showed us what our Receivers can do when they aren’t jammed at the line of scrimmage. BUT can they break free and get into open space against La Tech next week?

  312. d1shima September 24, 2011 9:45 pm

    Pomai,

    10/28/89 56-14 (done!)

    12/1/90 59-28 (next!)

Dats my score errytime from now. Get ’em? 😉

  313. d1shima September 24, 2011 9:50 pm

    mih,

The answer to that is really dependent on the quality of the opposing CB’s.

Tonight, the wides had few challenges.

  314. KBayJohn September 24, 2011 9:52 pm

Great game tonight, but it was truly just a scrimmage. Don’t get too cocky about this one, it won’t happen to often. Just take care of Tech in the same way ok?

    Well done Moniz! Go Warriors!

  315. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 9:58 pm

So was Moniz over throwing his intended receivers in the previous games or were our receivers simply not getting out where they were supposed to be?

  316. d1shima September 24, 2011 10:02 pm

Lots of things can affect timing on long routes would be my guess.

  317. KBayJohn September 24, 2011 10:02 pm

Madeinhawaii, no it was Cal State Davis. They would make the Cal Poly Womens school of film football team look good.

Just hope the Warriors keep it going..

  318. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 10:02 pm

So…. how did everyone like Kekaula?

  319. KBayJohn September 24, 2011 10:04 pm

Kekaula? I think I should not speak my piece on this one.. LOL

  320. TChahng September 24, 2011 10:08 pm

    Pomai,

    49 – 14 TChahng

    Mahalo!

  321. Bryson September 24, 2011 10:15 pm

Awesome showing…Great lights out playing by the team…Now they have to take this momentum on the road with them to Ruston….

  322. Ben A. Lurker September 24, 2011 10:17 pm

Saw the OC broadcast at Koolau Theater.

Kekaula entertaining and okay commentary. Not so much

on spotting the players or calling the plays. But didn’t really expect that.

Theater experience was cool. Like to see Moniz and starters play a bit

more to get even more. Good game. Good to see the other guys with

    no quit.

I used to think that piling no the scores against a weaker opponent was classless and uncalled for, but if we are going to build a fan base and fight for survival in this unstable D1 arena, maybe we need to go for all the points we can get. Strive to have the #1 offense in the country every season… become the team that piques the curiosity of football lovers everywhere and be that “other” team that people want to watch.

    Eh, papajoe2.

Let mih go at his own pace! 😆

  332. Kevin September 24, 2011 10:30 pm

Good to see people mentioning LaTech.

Kind of STUPID and POINTLESS to keep mentioning what a PAST opponent did in their game today.

  333. papajoe2 September 24, 2011 10:30 pm

    d1, mean pressure on him.

    #327 MIH

my thought is the get the game reps you need, ‘specially for the

guys Moniz has not had on the field much like Clapp, even Bright

with all his athleticism has not had the ball all that much. If you go

another quarter with them and accidently score another 3 – 4 time

oh well. Not so much after few games or when more players are

seasoned then class is more important.

  337. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 10:41 pm

Under 60 yards.. no rushing, tonight…

    Graves with 56 on 4 attempts…

    Moniz with 50 on 5.

Jackson with 19 on 7 attempts,

and Lister with 17 on 3.

    Still broke.. gotta fix.

  338. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 10:44 pm

    Ben A. Lurker:

In an ideal world, yes… but Hawaii needs to build a bigger following to survive in D1. It gonna happen in the islands alone. They need a burgeoning fan base outside of the islands. Like BYU during the Steve Young days… Colt helped wake up a few. Moniz is helping to string them along.. but we may need to be a little more greedy till we build that base.

  339. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 10:46 pm

BTW, any interesting upsets this weekend? Besides UNLV… that is..

  340. cocobean September 24, 2011 10:46 pm

    Buffoman

Was at the game. The oline as okay but they still need a lot of work. They were several times the LT flat out got beat and others times when the entire pocket collapsed. It’s was a good thing Mo and Graves were faster UCD’s LBs. They made a lot of positive yards in those situations. Would like to have seen better blocking on running plays. Very little day light for the RBs to run to.

Won’t say too much about special teams or drops by the DBs. Don’t want to be accused of being negative after a blowout win.

Rolo must have been listening to the radio and reading all the critical comments. Seems he wanted to silence the critics who say Mo can’t throw long or those who cried for a no huddle O. He had MO do both.

  341. madeinhawaii September 24, 2011 10:46 pm

“It’s NOT gonna happen in the islands, alone..” is how that sentence should have read.. sorry.

  342. iwonderwhytheyhateme September 24, 2011 11:01 pm

I think its stupid and pointless for the TEAM to be talking about what a past opponent did today. Looking only to the challenge in front of them is important.

As for a sports fans we have the luxury to look at and talk about whatever we want.

  343. iwonderwhytheyhateme September 24, 2011 11:07 pm

Great to have the “W” box checked tonight.

Congrats to the team and coaches.

The game that is ahead of us is always the most important game of the season…It won’t be easy but we gotta put in that 110%. La Tech going give us hard rub for sure.

Hope we can continue to PECK PECK PECK PECK at the opponents.

  344. Sean September 24, 2011 11:16 pm

Great game or half tonight. Glad to see other guys get in there. I thought C Paclebar had a little shake and bake after the catch and so did A Sampson.

Healing to all our Warriors, we’re gonna need 110% and more on this next and last trip to the boonies! Remember what happened last time and get PECKED OFF!!!

    GO WARRRIORS!!!

  345. Slugger September 24, 2011 11:21 pm

Congrats to the team & coaches & trainers & staff! Great game, great turnaround! I knew you could do it. WheeHa!

Now to continue this discipline and improvement in practice through the season and take it into the games. Focus, practice, listen, process, execute.

    GO WARRIORS!!!

And a Happy Birthday to Aaron Brown!

  346. Slugger September 24, 2011 11:22 pm

Congrats to Moniz on the records!

    Did you all voted today?

Ckngrats to all for a much-needed win!

    Tsweet Warrior Dreams!!!!

  348. Capitol -ist/WassupDoc September 24, 2011 11:30 pm

At the first kickoff, there were maybe 25000 – 27000 butts in the seat or walking up/down the aisles to their seats. By the end of the game, I doubt seriously if there were 10K left inside.

Winning or losing, Hawai`i fans walk out well before the end of the game/match. I can remember several occasions last season when the men’s volleyball were playing the fifth set and the lead was not secured – and people were still leaving.

Let’s get ready for LaTech. Play one game at a time.

Congrats to the Wahine for their win today. Hope Hewitt is okay.

  349. Old Diver September 24, 2011 11:34 pm

Traffic was a breeze after the game. Hope this is the last time the lot is so empty.

  350. cocobean September 24, 2011 11:38 pm

Think Mack’s battle cry to the team for the upcoming game will be Win One For Greg. Heard him mention in the post game that there may be a little revenge factor going into Latech. Said something like Greg Alex is on this 10th knee surgery, still not healed from that ’09 game.

  353. al September 24, 2011 11:47 pm

mih…did you watch all four games?

the long ball was there all night tonight.

the line gave the qb time to read and throw without someone breathing down his neck.

the receivers were able to gain separation necessary to complete those long balls.

the receivers were able to catch the ball.

the qb was able to put the ball right on the money.

all of these things need to be present for the long ones to be completed.

    tonight it was there.

  354. PowderPuff September 24, 2011 11:49 pm

Nice win, boys. But I was kind of feeling bad for UCD. Hope they had a good stay here, despite the game. Practice hard and focus this week so you can BRING IT to Ruston. That place sucks big time! Turnstile tonight was something like 28,268.

  355. al September 24, 2011 11:50 pm

i hope that the warriors find their mojo today.

i hope that at least 30k fans show up today.

i hope that the coaches have their smart hats on today.

i hope that someone brings lobster for the grill today.

well at least we achieved half of this.

  356. al September 24, 2011 11:54 pm

well, #2 had a great afterthought and sidebar to tonight’s game.

he stated although the ucd team was clearly no physical match for the warriors…that perhaps the ucd players all had higher SAT and ACT scores than the average warrior and would all become professionals in things other than football.

  357. al September 24, 2011 11:58 pm

i liked how lister played tonight.

  358. Pomai September 25, 2011 12:02 am

d1shima hit the score right on the head, guess he will have to change it for the next game.

  359. ballpicker September 25, 2011 12:06 am

    hey Pomai,

If and when I hit on the head again please give me some dap. 🙂

  360. al September 25, 2011 12:08 am

amazing to me is how scott harding has learned so much about the american football game. he showed tonight that he could play slotback in this complex offense, catch the ball, run with it, block and the like.

  361. ballpicker September 25, 2011 12:09 am

Good win for the Warriors and but it don’t mean a hill of beans if they don’t win next week in LA.

  362. al September 25, 2011 12:09 am

    congrats d1?

    what did you win?

  363. al September 25, 2011 12:10 am

  364. al September 25, 2011 12:16 am

and finally the quote of the day…

    Hawai‘i head coach Greg McMackin

    General comment

“We got a little sloppy in the second half, but we were still good enough to win.”

  366. improve your posture September 25, 2011 3:32 am

There are certainly plenty of particulars like that to take into consideration. That may be a great level to bring up. I offer the thoughts above as basic inspiration however clearly there are questions just like the one you bring up where an important factor might be working in honest good faith. I don?t know if greatest practices have emerged round things like that, however I’m certain that your job is clearly recognized as a good game. Each boys and girls feel the affect of only a second’s pleasure, for the rest of their lives.

    Good Sunday to all!

  368. mctruck September 25, 2011 5:44 am

Watched Fresno and Neveda play today…I’d say they are going to be a tough test for our Warriors; but it’s good to see that there’s still quality in the conference. Next up is LaTech and I’m feeling confident with our Warriors improved play, especially getting to see the newer players displaying their talents. Keep it going guys.

  369. mctruck September 25, 2011 5:45 am

  376. Garret September 25, 2011 6:05 am

My sister-in-law is visiting with us and we’re spending the day going outside, but I thought I should pop in for a quick link…the MWC, CUSA *and* WAC actually discussed joining together into one humongous nationwide 3-division arrangement. The MWC’s commissioner is directly quoted as saying that the MWC should be looking at a league with up to 24 teams.

A source with intel on conference realignment issues told the Tulsa World that the Mountain West, C-USA and the WAC had talks in January regarding a possible cooperative arrangement that would include all three leagues and feature three divisions populated by teams from coast-to-beyond-the-coast (Hawaii).

Incidentally, Thompson said there are no football leagues with 16 or 24 members — yet. “I think it’s very creative and it’s what we should be doing,” he said.

    Thanks mctruck!

    re: Harding

needs to learn more about the rules. He had an opportunity for a “free” chance to advance the ball on a punt after an opponent touched it first.

  378. Garret September 25, 2011 6:06 am

Clapp and Harding did well I thought–Clapp has done well every time he’s gotten playing time and Harding looked like he’s learning the offense quickly.

I feel like you could probably teach a class on the way to make a fantastic blog. This is fantastic! I have to say, what genuinely got me was your design. You undoubtedly know the way to make your weblog a lot more than just a rant about an issue. Youve made it feasible for people to connect. Good for you, simply because not that several people know what theyre performing.

    whitey,

Doing my part to cut down on the 48-hour rule!

Coach Mack said make ’em 24 hours dis week. Gotta cut erryting short today and tomorrow…

    😉

  388. Slugger September 25, 2011 7:25 am

    Good morning, gang!

Morning, whitey! Stay outta those haboobs. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.

  389. Willow Pung September 25, 2011 7:27 am

fantastic points altogether, you just gained a new reader. What would you suggest about your post that you made a few days ago? Any positive?

  390. whitey September 25, 2011 7:27 am

so coach rolo is letting his qb breaks his record. guess coach looks at the rest of the games and since moniz is a sr, give him a shot. had shot last year, but was taken out of game.

  391. whitey September 25, 2011 7:29 am

ok, hydration is most important, but dang these desert storms are brutal. i can imagine what our soldiers are going through in the mid east. must be worse and more oweeees.

  392. d1shima September 25, 2011 7:31 am

Gonna miss Da Big Guy on da rayjio.

Much better insights; a lot less “disagreements” with the pbp guy over strategy and second-guessing.

    tsigh….

  393. whitey September 25, 2011 7:34 am

d1, finally the coaches are starting to get their priorities correct. watched the latech game vs miss st and if their no 1 receiver is going to be covered by tank, aloha to the game. no way can tank cover him one on one and he going need plenty help. to help offset this, our d is going to have to change from a wait and react to charge attitude.

    Game replay on ESPN3 now!

  395. whitey September 25, 2011 7:35 am

we’ll see if coach aranda is up for the tasks.

  396. whitey September 25, 2011 7:38 am

personally, i think that our d will be our success in ruston. they will control the game if they prepare with a different mindset and attitude.

  397. whitey September 25, 2011 7:41 am

watching asu vs usc, was very impressed with the tackling technique by asu. usc kick returner cleared everyone on his way to a td and only had to pass the kicker, but the kicker used the old fashioned way of tackling two legs and dropped him dead in his tracks. i was impressed because that is basic football at it’s finest.

  398. whitey September 25, 2011 7:42 am

and d1 if you lurking to make 400, this is 399

    Happy Birthday BigWave96744!

  406. Da Punchbowl Kid September 25, 2011 8:12 am

    Good Morning Gangeez! 🙂

Wadda game! Tremendous win and a great “bounce back” game for the Warriors!

Given the competition, yes, we should not become over confident, but the fact is, this team can be a good one. Warriors must continue to focus, practice hard, learn from mistakes and keep the pedal to the metal.

I think the team needed the last few weeks to gel, but last night should set the standard as far as what their true potential is.

It’s obvious that when we get the good line play on both offense and defense all other phases of the game improve.

Love the emerging physicality on the part of the receivers, the YACs are starting to show up again, and the big bodies are winning the battle for the balls. Pollard and Bright play up to potential and it opens things up for the other receivers. Harding is going to be something special down the road. Its amazing to consider these are his first collegiate games.

Defense needs to play like this in every game. They have the potential to control the tempo of every game we play. Keep up the intensity and the swagger.

UH must work hard these next few weeks. Last night showed us what to expect. If the team keeps its focus, plays hard and plays hungry, then we should be okay.

It’s wonderful to wake up on the day after game day and feel this way. Great game Warriors!

    GO WARRIORS!!!

  407. LizKauai (macbook) September 25, 2011 8:21 am

    d1 – 49:08

  408. Da Punchbowl Kid September 25, 2011 8:28 am

What was truly gratifying was seeing the work which some of the reserves were getting, especially on offense. We have a some strong RBs – Iosefa, Lister and Jackson are a solid group. Jackson continues to impress with his burst of speed at the LOS.

Receivers also have some great hops, especially the guys like Sampson and Paclebar – very quick – and fearless. Clapp is simply a blue collar, get-it-done kind of receiver. Very gritty and dependable.

Defense continues to show its true personality. The last couple of games, A. Brown has blown ball carriers up, nearly knocking them outta their shoes. Gotta love that kind of play, and I’m sure it jacks the other players up.

Okay, enough of this savoring the flavoring. Latech aint gonna be easy, hope the Warriors bring their A game.

  409. Da Punchbowl Kid September 25, 2011 8:30 am

    Pomai –

Road Warriors 41 – 21 that other team

    Thank you sir.

  410. Da Punchbowl Kid September 25, 2011 8:34 am

Hey ballpicker. Top of the morning to you and to Tom Mui as well as to the rest of our Tsaiko Village and Warrior Nation.

  411. Da Punchbowl Kid September 25, 2011 8:43 am

Congrats to Moniz and the offense for the NCAA record. Just remember, this is who you truly are. Keep up the good work!

  412. gmahoney September 25, 2011 8:47 am

Good mornin’,DPK! Felt good to have the boys clicking on all cylinders. Gaining confidence as well as teamwork.we need that going into Rustan. Go Warriors!

Kekoa~no thanks necessary. I’m grateful to be blessed with a job, a roof over our heads, enough food to feed my family. And if I didn’t have all these things, I’d wish for the kindness of strangers. Consider it paying it forward.

  413. madeinhawaii September 25, 2011 9:00 am

    Morning all!

Ahh so good to wake up the next day following a solid win!

Going to watch the replay today at noon.

    al,

Yes I saw all 4 games. Last night the receivers didn’t get jammed and were able to get to where they needed to be when they needed to be there. Makes a world of a difference, eh?

One solid connection leads to another.. then another.. but our running game still needs a lot of work. One thing at a time, I suppose. Problem is, next season we start all over with the Oline. Sort of wish we were breaking in the young ones already…

  414. madeinhawaii September 25, 2011 9:03 am

If our Oline can’t open up the holes. then Rolo might have to get a little more creative and do more sweeps… reverses.. statue of liberty … whatever to give our RBs a little more headroom to get beyond the line of scrimmage.

  415. LizKauai (macbook) September 25, 2011 9:05 am

gmahoney- Be generous in prosperity and thankful in adversity…

    Healthy attitude!!!

  416. mctruck September 25, 2011 9:10 am

Just my observation; it seems like Tank Hopkins does extremley well guarding the areas around the line of scrimmage….very good in cutting down either rb’s or wr’s. just sayin.

#386. Thanks d1 for the info wasnt able to watch it. There was a problem with the feed and I only had audio that would cut out not to mention I was trying to watch the UFC. I don’t think its stupid to keep up with past opponents. Isnt that how strength of schedule is measured? I think a lot of people including me are still upset about that game. Kinda hard to have a 48 hour rule on that game when you make the effort to travel to Vegas to support the team and they don’t show up.

  423. madeinhawaii September 25, 2011 9:30 am

    mctruck:

That’s the whole thing, eh? Tank sometimes gets burned by players that are significantly taller than him but none of the other corners appear to close down the short stuff as well as he does. Unfortunately, he’s on the side that often leaves him as the only cover for a receiver, so when he gets burned, the fans notice it more. Stop the run and short stuff while sacrificing the few times he might be burned… or give up the run and short stuff to cover the mid-long passes to that side of the field?
