if you see an usher, ask them what happen to the wifi…thats what the ticket office asked me to do.

  2. Cindy Luis October 26, 2018 6:57 pm

    1. i doubt the usher would know. interesting that you were told that
What I can tell you is I pulled up the Wi-fi list and there are about 20 platforms that I have never seen before under Island- etc.

  3. greenthumb October 26, 2018 7:03 pm

Thanks for letting us know VB radio being joined in progress. Hope it’s not much more of a wait. 😢 Meantime what’s the arena like? Sea of white shirts? Noise?

  4. Cindy Luis October 26, 2018 7:04 pm

    3. Radio not happy. They’re stuck with the Bos-LA game.
good noise led by men’s VB team. lots of white

  5. Cindy Luis October 26, 2018 7:04 pm

Same deal tonight. Will be updating main box and answering questions on thread.

  6. greenthumb October 26, 2018 7:07 pm

    4. Thanks! These guys aren’t even calling the baseball game. They’re talking about jerseys for goodness’ sake.

  7. Ashley October 26, 2018 7:18 pm

Lisa must be smiling ear to ear.
Honestly can’t wait till those two sisters leave. I was so relieved when I didn’t see Lisa in Game on, well she’s on commentary….even worse.

  8. H-Man October 26, 2018 7:23 pm

I thought this would be a fight, but so far in first set, Wahine getting smoked.

  9. greenthumb October 26, 2018 7:24 pm

Good to see Hawaii stringing some consecutive points together.

(And now the radio guys are talking football??!!?!!!)

  10. H-Man October 26, 2018 7:55 pm

Okay, Wahine fighting….leading 19-16 second set. Whoopie !!!

  11. Cindy Luis October 26, 2018 7:57 pm

    10. updates are on main box

  12. greenthumb October 26, 2018 8:07 pm

Delete if needed but my goodness UH should be disappointed in its partners right now! Recently, the last-minute Fullerton non-streaming last week, followed by some weird talk show about World Series tonight, rather than the radio play-by-play of this crucial match. (Now if ESPN only had one station and was doing play-by-play of the Series, I’d be unhappy but not complaining. But this mishmash…?)

  13. ballerz October 26, 2018 8:15 pm

upper ref is not on her game. wifi is up

  14. greenthumb October 26, 2018 8:20 pm

Radio stream got moved to 1500.

  15. Cindy Luis October 26, 2018 8:25 pm

    14. Thanks. Updated that on the top.
I really dislike this format but It’s what we are using.

  16. H-Man October 26, 2018 8:33 pm

Ugh. Wahine set Granato, was it 4 times in a row, then she got blocked. Wahine followed that by setting Ross on the left with two blockers waiting. Another block. What’s wrong with this picture. Shucks, by the time I finished writing this comment, Cal Poly went on a scoring explosion, leading 22-16.

  17. Don October 26, 2018 9:05 pm

We’re not the only ones going late tonight. Dodgers/Sox is into the 17th inning…

  18. greenthumb October 26, 2018 9:36 pm

Woop woop woop!!!!! Congratulations to our team for playing as a TEAM and sticking together through 5 sets. So proud of you.

  19. H-Man October 26, 2018 9:37 pm

Timing couldn’t have been better. Got to watch the Wahine win it in five, and switched just in time to see Max Muncy’s walk-off HR in bottom of 18th to win it for the Dodgers.

Congrats to Wahine for win. Awesome!!!

  20. Ashley October 26, 2018 9:41 pm

unsung hero’s of the game? Williams and Gong for sure. but all in all, the match wasn’t pretty for the most part, but when it counted the most, every player on the court did their part.

this team played to win, the only thing i am confused about is What happened to Casey? I feel like i saw her a couple minutes and poof she gone.

  21. Bleachercoach October 26, 2018 10:16 pm

A great win indeed!! They had the Guns but our “Heart” prevailed. We all lost our voice in the last few points, but it was well worth it. It has been a while to see a raucous crowd celebrate in an awesome victory regardless how it was played

  22. islandman October 26, 2018 10:21 pm

Ross and Skyler really provided a spark of the bench. Gaskin was good, besides the others. Gong’s dig for a kill was fantastic !

  23. Optimist October 26, 2018 10:29 pm

Doesn’t seem like much , but I was stoked that Robyn called time out very early in the 5th set and did not wait for another potential point to be scored. I think coaches sometimes wait too long to call a timeout. When to call a timeout is an art. Coaches obviously evaluate players after the game or match, but I often wonder how much they evaluate their own performances (e.g. did I wait too long to call a timeout, if so what did I not see that delayed me calling a time out.

It appears that Robyn’s m.o. is juggling players during the match; which sometimes can appear genius. Of course this is dictated by the players/team that she has. They may not be the elite of the elite, but they the have competitive potential. Should the Wahine be extremely fortunate and make it to the NCAA tournament, their “weakness” will be their strength (substituting in non-starters mid match).

  24. Cindy Luis October 26, 2018 10:30 pm

    12. Radio station had no control over the WS game going so late. Glad they finally decided to switch over. If they hadn’t, WS lasted longer than Hawaii match
    UCSB match on 1500 tomorrow.
    22. Agree about Gong. That was huge.

  25. warriorwahine October 26, 2018 10:47 pm

well well well….at last! after 3 years!!!

make wahine rise again? oh wait its make wahine great again?

all kidding aside, wahine just salvaged their chances for post season.

congratulations on their 1st win against a ranked opponent since 3 years! and robyns first against a top 25!!!

gongs dig kill? that was YUGE!!!

  26. Lori October 26, 2018 11:33 pm

What a great win. Unfortunately after tonight and probably tomorrow, we will never see this game on replay. For some reason, Spectrum only replays the mens game. So sexist!!! Hahaha

Secondly, I hope it is not the same result as the mens where the men played so hard to beat Long Beach and it was pretty much for nothing as the NCAA snubbed them. Let’s just hope the women don’t suffer the same fate. I know there are things that has to happen for them to go but they fought so hard to keep their hopes alive, I am just hoping it is for nothing.

In any case, great win. Just like the mens win over Long Beach. The women did something UCLA could not do.

  27. Ashley October 27, 2018 1:05 am

#26 maybe, maybe not about the replay, but there is someone who posts their games on YouTube. that’s how I rewatch their games

  28. Warriorfan October 27, 2018 2:52 am

If they win out the at large is a strong possibility glad the team is picking it up.

  29. IgnacioSaid October 27, 2018 3:31 am

WAHINE-IMUA ups and downs still there , but WAHINE prevailed!!! Crosson has very good players , but after last 2 years of BAD officiating at POLY , WAHINE broke through (with FAIR officiating)! Still a challenge to win out (really need help from rest of Big West) , but GOOD THINGS still possible. Glad RAMS developing reserves , they are the future! Okino , Gong , Sibley , Krug , and Trinity can make a difference (along with recruits). Excited for the future. Thanks to every COACH on the TEAM—they deserve a “WELL DONE”. And again—-GO BOWS

  30. cappie the dog October 27, 2018 3:48 am

    26.

Hawaii is not a Power 5 school.

Mid-major conferences don’t have a seat at the table.

    It is an uphill climb.

28-4 was not good enough for the 1992-1993 women’s basketball team under Vince Goo.

Val Agee and Jennifer Hurt are such great unsung Hawaii athletes. They deserved so much better.

  31. cappie the dog October 27, 2018 4:03 am

    25.

Earlier this year, Oregon State was playing Arkansas in the College World Series. I rooted against the Beavers because they had a pitcher on their roster who was pretty sketchy and had no business playing Division I athletics.

Reluctantly, by default, I was on the side of the Razorbacks

Then an Arkansas fan pulled out a “Make Pig Sooey Great Again!”

I switched my allegiance over to the team with the sketchy player.

    It’s karma.

Arkansas could have ended the series but two Razorback infielders misplayed a foul ball on the first base side to extend the inning and allowed OSU to tie the game.

Point is, college athletics is becoming harder for me to support because the scandals that fall by the wayside without any repercussions or comeuppance infuriate me.

Post-season or no post-season is not as important as winning with integrity.

  32. T103 October 27, 2018 5:23 am

Is the match against UCSB on t.v. anyone know?

  33. Sheila October 27, 2018 6:08 am

Wow what a awesome win! Also got a nice coverage in NCAA women volleyball website. Kudos to wahine starters & BENCH and coaching staff! Keep up the momentum to prove the consistency today against the Santa Babara who took wahines to 5th game three weeks ago.

  34. ballerz October 27, 2018 7:10 am

    32. yes, spectrum will teleivise. a great win for the bows, coaching staff, and fans. fans did a nice rendition of journeys don’t stop believing last night.

  35. Crazy4WVB October 27, 2018 10:07 am

Cindy. Did something happen to Castillo? Injury or something else? After she left the game she did a lot of stretching and wasn’t doing any reps during time outs. Don’t get me wrong. Was definitely into the game. Supporting her teammates. I’m just wondering if she available for tonight.

  36. greenthumb October 27, 2018 10:56 am

24, I understand that the Honolulu radio folks couldn’t preempt whatever corporate was choosing to broadcast … just feel that UH could make a pretty good case to the offshore decision-makers not to do that again in this market. Concerned we don’t have a repeat tonight, since there’s another World Series game.

  37. vballfan October 27, 2018 10:59 am

#26: Yes, almost impossible to watch replays of full Wahine games on OC16, unlike the old days. Very annoying. I’ve called OC16 and people I spoke to were clueless about why there are not more replays of Wahine volleyball games.

  38. OrbitalRipZ October 27, 2018 11:38 am

    No rest for the weary.

Rematch with a UCSB team that isn’t about to roll over for anyone. Then a rematch @ CSUN.

Then look at that tortuous finishing run to punctuate this torturous season: @ LBSU, @ Pepperdine (where the “scheduled opponent” finally becomes an “opponent” and will reflect in Hawaii’s RP), Irvine, and UC Davis.

UH will need help from Irvine, who plays Cal-Poly twice in the coming weeks. If the Bows are to have any chance at winning the league title, UH must
hope (against all hope!) that Irvine can pull off a split with the Mustangs.

Obvious: Should both teams win out, they will be tied for 1st place in the final conference standings, and the tiebreaker for the automatic qualifier will go to the Tiebreaker #3 (win-loss set record), in which case the Mustangs will more than likely win.

Lots of volleyball left. But with this match victory over Cal-Poly, now Hawaii has a chance to claim the automatic qualifier to The Big Dance. Go Bows!

  39. Savich October 27, 2018 11:51 am

Was there a game last night? At ssc.

  40. Bowsfan October 27, 2018 12:01 pm

    26. Games shown 3X, with 2 repeats. I can watch wahine vb on spectrum demand 2 weeks later. All vb on demand from coastal Carolina games, wins and loses, no matter. I’m not sure since it’s a spectrum product if Hawaiian telecom can get more than 3X of wahine vb.

  41. Ichyboy October 27, 2018 12:07 pm

Just an observation while at the match last night. Without Torey V.W., Cal Poly probably would lose to U.H. in 4. Just goes to show how much one (or 2) top flight players can impact a team. U.H. is just one or two good pin players from being a championship team going forward. The underclassmen are good enough to support.

  42. greenthumb October 27, 2018 12:32 pm

40, to my knowledge, Hawaiian Telcom subscribers can no longer get Wahine matches through Hawaiian Telcom. Spectrum changed that agreement a couple days before the start of the 2017 season.

Are we able to see Home matches on a delayed basis on Big West sidearm streaming?

  43. rabbit ears October 27, 2018 1:06 pm

What stood out in the stat’s last night was the service errors. Only 5, unfortunately granato had 3 of them.

  44. Bleachercoach October 27, 2018 3:05 pm

Hi again! The win last night was so satisfying! It would be great if all that needs to be achieved in order for Hawaii to be NCAA bound happens, but with all the adversities and challenges we faced from the “get-go”, the win last night was like a “Postseason Victory ” in itself. I would like to be optimistic like some , but this year getting an At -Large will be highly unlikely. Our team have come a long way from the Kansas St and Portland match(s) . Yes, we don’t have a Torrey Van Winden that could literally change a match. But, we do have a lot of ” Rocky Balboa’s” that refuse to let anyone, (including me) allow the negative feedbacks affect their continuous grit on the floor. I can only imagine when Robyn and Staff get a hold on those athletes I am sure they are waiting for. The way they make these girls “BELIEVE” is only achieved through GREAT coaching! These girls refuse to quit against all the odds. That in itself is Amazing!!
    Blessed to be a Rainbow!!

  45. IgnacioSaid October 27, 2018 3:42 pm

from the talent Crosson has assembled , Cal Poly looks to be loaded! Very important that UH recruits well (not one and done players). UH needs other “bigs” with good footwork to put up a sufficient block. With Burns leaving early , the 6’3″ middle coming in should help. Always said that Okino and Gong should help! Good pins needed , especially for Opp/D ball position. Think with playing time , Sibley and Krug can help at OH1. Castillo , I believe had injury to her leg , in high school. so is not available for an entire game. Anyway, the seniors leaving helped the Wahine , but very hot and cold! Some recruits that left , could have helped! Again–GO BOWS (UCSB – need to stop ruddins / always dangerous Irvine – beatable and nonconference Pepperdine with Scott Wong coaching has some huge players) Just need someone to give Poly another lose—-GO BOWS

  46. darkfire35 October 27, 2018 4:39 pm

    44. Last night, SSC played a karaoke-like rendition of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing”. It sounded like the whole SSC was singing along with the lyrics that were displayed on the jumbotron. It was a chicken-skin moment and maybe something that gave the Wahines a little inspiration to keep fighting. They ALL really worked hard. It would be nice if they are able to make Akiu’s dream come true; getting a chance to get to the NCAAs.

    GO BOWS!

  47. Cindy Luis October 27, 2018 5:48 pm

    new thread up
    43. so what? Her serve percentage is .856, she has served 333 times, has 48 SE, 33 aces (team high)
    45. the one-and-done were out of necessity. the players for ’18 were committed before Ah Mow-Santos had a chance to recruit. They have at least five coming in for next year. They will be young in 19 but they were be good.
