    GO BOWS!

  2. Cindy Luis August 25, 2018 7:03 pm

No introductions. Starting for UH: Williams, Castillo, Iosia, Granato, Liva, Gaskin, Akiu.

  3. warriorwahine August 25, 2018 7:03 pm

    very well. lets go bows!

  4. The Green Roof August 25, 2018 7:08 pm

The graphics on the streaming aren’t updating with the scoring at all…it’s just 0, 0, 0.

Also, they say the UH Booster Club was allowed in, but there’s almost no one visible. 🙁

  5. darkfire35 August 25, 2018 7:12 pm

    Oops, video link not working.

  6. Cindy Luis August 25, 2018 7:14 pm

Hawaii running a modified 6-2. Ma’afala, who runs the middle better than Iosia, connects with LIva. Hawaii chasing, 12-10.
Iosia is playing all 6 rotations. Ma’afala coming into the back row.

  7. warriorwahine August 25, 2018 7:14 pm

    4. works for me.

  8. Cindy Luis August 25, 2018 7:17 pm

Williams serves into the net. K-State leads 15-14 at the TTO

  9. warriorwahine August 25, 2018 7:18 pm

at last a ‘natural’ lefty for na wahine.

  10. Cindy Luis August 25, 2018 7:24 pm

    Live stats now working
Iosia blocked, K-State up 21-18 on a 3-0 run. TO UH

  11. warriorwahine August 25, 2018 7:26 pm

    4. you need to disable any ad blocking for it to work.

  12. Cindy Luis August 25, 2018 7:28 pm

Wahine close to 22-21. TO Wildcats. Very impressed with Akiu’s defense and Liva’s play in the middle

  13. darkfire35 August 25, 2018 7:29 pm

After clicking on Cindy’s link, do you click on something else on the Big West screen? I tried clicking on LIVE NOW, but nothing happens. It says there is an error in playing the video.

  14. Cindy Luis August 25, 2018 7:31 pm

Castillo aced. Wildcats serving for Set 1 at 24-21. TO UH

  15. warriorwahine August 25, 2018 7:32 pm

    12. after getting the big west screen i just click play which says something about adblocker might affect playing of the video i think. so i disabled adblocking, clicked play and then it works.

  16. warriorwahine August 25, 2018 7:33 pm

hows is wahine really struggling despite having a better hitting percentage or supposedly?

  17. Cindy Luis August 25, 2018 7:33 pm

Gaskin hits wide. K-State wins 25-21.

  18. HawaiiMongoose August 25, 2018 7:37 pm

Just one set into the season it looks like we still haven’t solved the problem that’s plagued us the past couple of years… no dominating, go-to outside hitter who can be relied upon to put the ball down when the stakes are high. Granato hit only .111 and Castillo’s hitting errors down the stretch really hurt.

  19. Cindy Luis August 25, 2018 7:38 pm

Ross in for Castillo in Set 2

  20. Cindy Luis August 25, 2018 7:44 pm

Can you say bad rotation? Hawaii up 6-2. K-State on a 7-0 run takes a 9-6 lead. TO UH

  21. HawaiiMongoose August 25, 2018 7:44 pm

    Liva – hitting error
    Granato – hitting error
    Gaskin – hitting error
    Granato – hitting error

Who is Iosia supposed to set??

    7-0 KSU scoring streak.

  22. warriorwahine August 25, 2018 7:45 pm

    19. thats not an excuse. robyn please sub.

  23. Cindy Luis August 25, 2018 7:47 pm

Two kills by Granato and it’s 9-9. TO K-State.

  24. Kazu August 25, 2018 7:48 pm

Watching on Big West TV. Kinda junk. Not very exciting, only thing that makes it worth while is the announcer.

  25. warriorwahine August 25, 2018 7:50 pm

    ata girl mckenna!

  26. Cindy Luis August 25, 2018 7:51 pm

Another two kills by Granato and it’s 11-9. TO K-State

  27. Cindy Luis August 25, 2018 7:52 pm

    23. That’s the synched broadcast with 1420-AM

  28. HawaiiMongoose August 25, 2018 7:53 pm

Now four straight kills by Granato. Still a streak hitter but gotta love the hot streaks. LOL.

  29. warriorwahine August 25, 2018 7:57 pm

come on norene we need that nasty serve of yours.

  30. Setaone August 25, 2018 8:01 pm

    Maafala in the front?

  31. Cindy Luis August 25, 2018 8:06 pm

Granato with the kill but she hit the net before ball landed, gives K-State a 23-22 lead. TO UH.
two bad calls have gone against Hawaii and the up ref also has let a couple of K-State sticky sets go.

  32. HawaiiMongoose August 25, 2018 8:12 pm

Castillo fails to convert on two set points. ARRGGHH.

  33. Cindy Luis August 25, 2018 8:13 pm

Granato hits long on K-State’s third set point. Wildcats win it 29-27.

  34. warriorwahine August 25, 2018 8:14 pm

    smh

  35. Warriorfan August 25, 2018 8:14 pm

All those unforced errors late in sets are just giving it to kansas state, relying way too much on the left side hitters.
    Where was Gaskin?

  36. Cindy Luis August 25, 2018 8:15 pm

    31. Also consider that kills by Castillo gave UH two set points and tied it twice.

  37. HawaiiMongoose August 25, 2018 8:15 pm

Followed by a Castillo serving error and Granato hitting error. KSU takes set 2.

Too many unforced errors by veteran players.

  38. Ashley August 25, 2018 8:15 pm

I’m actually really concerned about the season already.

  39. chink August 25, 2018 8:16 pm

Maafala’s decision making towards the end…smh

  40. Robin August 25, 2018 8:17 pm

#31 yup, and a crucial service error. #34 yup, wayyyy out too.

  41. Warriorfan August 25, 2018 8:22 pm

Just dont think they can afford maafala in the front row and hopefully they become more clutch late in sets they are right there in position to win and then error error it’s over.

  42. Robin August 25, 2018 8:23 pm

the video can’t seem to keep score

  43. HawaiiMongoose August 25, 2018 8:25 pm

    35. Fair point but my concern is lack of consistency. Castillo puts us in position to win, can’t convert at the critical moment, then makes an error to put the opponent in position to win. Granato goes on a hot streak, then hits way long to give KSU the set. No one is perfect but for UH to be competitive with quality teams the veteran players have to be steadier. Consistent play has been a hallmark of good Wahine teams historically.

  44. Cindy Luis August 25, 2018 8:26 pm

UH up 8-5. TO K-State. Haven’t seen Gaskin much since early in Set 2. She’s standing on the sideline with a jacket on

  45. Cindy Luis August 25, 2018 8:39 pm

    K-State up 19-16 TO UH

  46. warriorwahine August 25, 2018 8:41 pm

wahine need to pull this together. are they really supposed to be a mixed bag, if not, rabble?

  47. Cindy Luis August 25, 2018 8:43 pm

K-State closing in on the sweep 23-17. TO UH

  48. Warriorfan August 25, 2018 8:47 pm

Maafala front row won’t work too many good tall outside hitters out there. Not a good showing.

  49. Cindy Luis August 25, 2018 8:47 pm

    Wildcats win 25-20.

  50. warriorwahine August 25, 2018 8:47 pm

    well that does it. smh

  51. Big Island Volleyball Fan August 25, 2018 8:50 pm

The video quality was worse than the play of the Wahine. I hate to say it but it’s a relief that the match is over in less than two hours even though the Wahine lost. Now I can go to bed by midnight, California time. Hope that tomorrow the video quality will improve as well as the Wahine play.

  52. sojourner1 August 25, 2018 8:51 pm

Boy oh boy, could be a really long a season. No middle attack and streaky outside hitting.

  53. HawaiiMongoose August 25, 2018 8:52 pm

Disappointing match. We didn’t look like a good volleyball team tonight. It appears last year’s limitations at outside hitter still exist and this year there’s no All-American middle to help compensate for those limitations. Moreover communication, execution and consistency were all lacking.

Of course it’s way too early to write this team off. They have time to figure things out and I’m hoping for a much better performance tomorrow.

  54. warriorwahine August 25, 2018 8:53 pm

video was spotty at the latter times. it was pitiful to watch.

  55. Ron August 25, 2018 8:54 pm

This is going to be a long season. I was very unimpressed with coaching strategy. It almost appears that if you not a “local” you will be a bench warmer. I hate to be so negative but this match and the way she coached was hard to watch.

  56. H-Man August 25, 2018 8:55 pm

Ragged. Disappointing to be swept 0-3.

  57. Ashley August 25, 2018 9:00 pm

I think after this match, some things that are concerning is: miscommunication, how they get ahead and end up shooting themselves in the foot. execution, our hitters, we need hitters. i am still not convinced with Casey, was impressed with Liva, Granato seemed to have a slow night despite what the statistics say. I like Iosia as a hitter, she packs more heat when she hits than Casey does. Yes just the first game of the season, but I hope they fix them.

Frustrating to be swept like that…

  58. eMpTy August 25, 2018 9:08 pm

Too bad. Hope they can cut down on their errors. Glad to see Castillo improve her hitting percentage. Liva seemed like a bright spot in the middle. Go Bows.

  59. warriorwahine August 25, 2018 9:15 pm

    55. my thoughts exactly

  60. islandman August 25, 2018 9:25 pm

Their outside hitters are tall,6 -4 and 6-3. Their middle blocker Williams is 6-4 and the other is 6-2.

  61. Cindy Luis August 25, 2018 9:52 pm

    It’s only the first match.
Video quality will be better Sunday since it will be the regular TV with Spectrum. And having the replay challenge system will make a difference. think the refs were wrong on a couple of calls that went against UH. Might have made a difference.
Agree it was very disjointed tonight. Hawaii will have its struggles with taller teams and they are using different passing formations.
Was impressed with Akiu and Liva. As stated earlier, Ma’afala’s connection with middles seems to be better than Iosia’s.
    55. not sure I agree with that. Options were limited with a couple of players not 100 percent. Ross just got cleared to play, Howling still has an injured hand.
    Good night. Be back tomorrow

  62. ballerz August 25, 2018 9:54 pm

hope to see a better match tomorrow. lets go bows!
