Wahine practice Day 3; Green-White scrimmage next Friday

Only one practice today as summer school concludes and they have to move out of the dorms.

Wahine out on the west side Saturday for a practice and community service.

The Green-White scrimmage is next Friday, Admissions Day holiday. 3-5 p.m., may be open to public. Will let you know.

The usual skills and drills but they did some 6-on-6, which is earlier than they did last year.

They’re still working on who will play where. As Angelica Ljungqvist said, they’re going to do whatever they need to do to make the most out of their team. If that means moving parts around, that’s what they’ll do. “We have got to figure out the best way to use each player and we need each player to be able to contribute the best they can,” she said.

I will definitely have to take off the day of the green/white scrimmage just to see the Wahine play; not only the newbies, but to see how far the returnees have come. It should be exciting.

    GO BOWS!

Cindy, this is from before the blog took a well deserved break, but did we ever find out why Austin left the men’s team? I just watched the replay for senior nite vs. LBS last season and I just remembered he has left. Never had a chance to discuss it b/c it wasn’t official, no one knew anything although people rumored to have seen a msg somewhere on social media which was vague about leaving UH… This might have been addressed on an entry on the blog or a story ran that I didn’t see. Any insight? Kinda still bummed he left.

Think he felt there was a better opportunity for playing time elsewhere

Are you attending practices? Any observations on DS and last years role players? Ross, Sibley, Gong? How’s Natasha’s injuries from last year? Is she at least starting in good health.

Is the scrimmage at the arena, Klum, or in a practice gym?

    new thread up for Monday
    13. if you read the past few posts, it mentions I’m at practice with observations.
but they are doing mostly drills so it’s hard to gauge or rate players.
As for DS-L, my belief is it will be Akiu at libero. Ross is being used as an OH, Sibley in the mix for L2 but think that will go to Castillo. Burns’ knee still wrapped but she’s participating in practice.
    14. Scrimmage in arena. 3-5 p.m. Friday, open to public. No charge. There may be a charge for parking but it is a state holiday so maybe not.
