2 former UH coaches are Super Bowl champs
Two former UH assistant coaches — Ken Flajole and Trent Miles — will earn Super Bowl rings.
Flajole is the Philadelphia Eagles’ linebackers coach. Miles is an offensive assistant who works with the quarterbacks.
Both were members of Bob Wagner’s final UH staff in 1995 — Flajole as the DB coach, Miles as receivers coach.
Flajole has coached in the NFL for 20 seasons, with the Packers, Seahawks, Rams, Saints, Panthers and Browns.
Miles has been head coach at Indiana State and Georgia State.

Sean Duggan, who was not renewed as linebackers coach after two years, has joined the staff at UMass.

Dru Brown is not crappy!
He is just not a transcendent talent in which he makes everybody around him better.
For guys like him, it works the other way around.
Losing your starting quarterback doesn’t make the team better.
Had Brown lost the starting job, depending on what kind of person he is, he could have been invaluable as a mentor.

Have no idea why, but I had a dream about Nick Rolovich last night.
Don’t worry, we weren’t holding hands skipping through the meadow all misty-eyed, lovey dovey and sheet, he was just telling me about his team and joking around in his office.
He does have an office don’t he?
I never dreamed about Chow, or Mac, or June, or Tomey or Wagner.
Just Rolovich. He must be my main man. I do like his style, and I’m glad he’s opening up the offense and he’s changed the d-coordinator.
I hope I don’t dream about him again tonight though.

100% agree. Back to square one. Luckily the offensive system is changing so everything is on reset. If he (Brown) were in camp and was beaten out it would make it easier to accept. Now square one.

#4. I agree and I think the loss of Dru Brown, with 22 starts under his belt, is significant. There may be some other significant departures that still have not yet been reported.
Happy for Sean Duggans. I think we’ll hear more of him in the future.
Interesting how many Former UH coaches go on to better things. After getting much grief from the maddening crowd….imho

In 1995, Wagner had two years remaining on his contract. He asked Yoshida about his situation, and was assured he would be allowed to fulfill the two seasons.
With that, Wagner brought in Mark Banker to coach linebackers and Ken Flajole to coach the secondary. Both had opportunities to go elsewhere, but again, there was the assurance that they would have at least two years at UH.
Wagner was fired with a game left in the 1995 season.
Maybe if Jonah Tavai can get his weight down to between 260-270
and get his 40 time to around 5.0 seconds (same as Iosefa at the combines) then he could be a legit Division I fullback. Just gotta practice catching passes in the flat and open field (second level) blocking. Should be doable for a rugby athlete. Some of Faalologo’s struggles (when he wasn’t banged up) seemed (in my opinion) at least partially due to his lack height.
I remember when Hawaii played Purdue and they (Purdue) had a defensive end that was so disrupting with his edge rush. At that point June put in Reagan Mauia to chip the guy. On the first hit he chipped (it was a solid forearm, elbow chop) the guy and he (the Purdue guy) went back to the huddle rubbing his shoulder. After the second hit that guy quit rushing hard. Converted D lineman can make good fullbacks. (I think Ian Sample caught a big pass from Colt to win the game if I’m remembering right)
