JC o-lineman commits to Warriors
Offensive lineman Gene Pryor of the College of Sequoias told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser he has accepted a scholarship offer from the Warriors.
The skinny:
> Pryor said he is 6-3 and 312 pounds.
> He said he chose UH because it’s a “great fit. … (The recruiting trip) was amazing. I felt like I was at home. Coach Rolo and the whole staff treated me like I was one of their own.”
> He played guard and tackle for the Giants. He is willing to play at any of the five line spots for the Warriors.
> He earns an AA at the end of this semester. After that, he will have three years to play two UH seasons.

Gene Pryor got offers from Arizona and San Diego st out of high school? According to……?? Sounds like a lot of made up information considering I’ve followed recruiting very close for over a decade now.
This class is starting to get ugly quick aside from Cordeiro, Welch, and the DEs.
Good we added another OL in Pryor-good news would be Solo and maybe 1 more. Still need 1 or 2 interior DL. We’ll see/
I hope this guy is an instant contributor. Was a little disappointed that Graves did not play right away. We need JC guys to contribute not redshirt.

Pretty sure that Pono was referring to OL Emil Graves Jr. (who transferred in last season from Fullerton College but redshirted)…….and not former QB David Graves.
ST not sure I follow the logic about the JC OL and your reference to Graves and Moniz. I’m not that sharp.
Tell you what, Graves was a lot better than Wooz. Just hard luck he got stuck with N Chow.
Pryor has been coached up by no other than Irv Pankey. I will take that guy who t appears some folks passed on. I’m more than good with the choice-
irregardless of how “good” a recruit is it’s the position coaches tough job to nurture them to become the very best they can become — this is. of course, with the mind set that the player himself wants to become the “best”
toughest job ever, in the whole wide world, is being a goo parent! hands down!!!

cost to maintain a dorm is much greater than a single family dwelling, town house or condo
recently, I was informed that Singapore now has a population of over 6 million — it was about 3.2 million when I first visited Singapore in 1985 and their “housing” concept was most interesting — 1] individuals “rent” apartment for X number of years with them owning the unit when the rent agreement was over; 2] government developed “mini-cities” to conserve/maximize land space — high rise buildings which included housing, commercial building, entertainment, food, shopping mall, restaurants, schools, playgrounds, etc. allowing a citizen to live, work, play, and die in their tiny “city complex” — you can walk to every thing within your “city”
would these ideas work in Hawaii? we have limited space and much too much traffic!

#17…You must have been on the moon or something…LOL…our DL coach is the former Colorado State DL coach named Ricky Logo. He got let go when they changed coaching staff and is now on our team.
That guy is supposed to be a pretty good DL coach. Coached at University of Houston besides being a CSU. He seems to have a better resume than Legi so I am happy with this hire.

So have I been on the moon, or did I hear that Daniel Lewis is transferring? Bobby Curran said and repeated that Lewis is transferring.
Kinda scary that so many players are transferring. What’s going on? If it’s true about Lewis don’t think it the biggest loss he was a liability in coverage last year. But Kipper and Mermea hurts a lot, they both had potential and were at need positions. Hopefully we can fill the holes they left. Brown I thought could have thrived in the R n S and would have given the Freshmen QBs a year to develop their bodies and game. A lot of those leaving were Captains last year so maybe a good thing we have some new leaders this year

If Danny Lewis is transferring, it has to be as a graduate transfer. I don’t think he have enough eligibility to sit out one year then play the next. If he is indeed transferring as a grad transfer then it’s ok. He kept his commitment to get a degree from UH and now maybe looking to play closer to home. Cannot blame the guy for that. He is from Louisiana so his family probably don’t get many chances to see him play.

Wow another transfer. When will the madness stop. Would that be 5 already maybe 6 with Mermea?
I think that’s a bit much but might be cleaning house so that we can get a full allotment of scholarships for 2018.
Man hard to read though. Like I said before, Rolo gotta take control of this program before he is no longer employed.
22. Lewis had the most passes defended, 8 including 1 INT for 24 yds, tied for the most forced fumbles,2, and was 3rd in total tackles , 77 in 12 games for UH in 2017.
Although the transfers are beginning to bother me, I have not reached a point of over concern. We had a very pourous defense and a mediocre offense from a scoring perspective. With the LOI day closing in I see a lot of needs being filled mores so on Defense. A solid finish with OL and DL I’m good. Coach Rolovich is a solid person with good or great intentions-if that ain’t good enuff then adios. The staff he has now is as good if not better than in a long time. I withhold any opinion on any of theses transfers as to why-don’t care where they land or who gets offered what. I am of the firm belief we will be much better off once the dust settles-GoWarriors!
The focus should be about recruiting, instead, it’s now all about transfers. Key players, not just homesick, heartwarming freshmen. We also lost early recruit, Tristan Nichols to Nevada. What? NEVADA !! Since when we losing players to Nevada?
Transfers are not uncommon to a program, folks get homesick, folks want more playing time. But, when you start losing the amount of starters that is taking place, there are some other things going on below the surface—I don’t know what they are, but something is occurring—and it’s not good.
I saw Lewis at Saturday’s basketball game. Afterward I asked if he was leaving UH. He said, “no.”
Does that mean he’s going? I don’t know. Does that mean he’s staying? I don’t know. All I know is he’s been pretty honest with me the past four years, and that’s what he said.
Seems like the transfer train is picking up steam.

Normally guys transfer out when they don’t get playing time but our transfers are all major contributors. Seems like they don’t like something with the program since playing time isn’t the issue. Trouble in paradise? I’m really interested in what happens with Unga this off season.
I doubt we offered Tristan. Did he even come on a official visit? Don’t recall seeing anything where he made a visit.

Why’d I get banned from the warrior nation Facebook group?
It’s nothing new that Hawaii has some young men transferring because of coaching/scheme changes, losing record, wanting to play in front of family, fan base is very opinionated, breaking rules, medical concerns, pursuing a different college degree or changing sport just to name a few reasons. This statement sounds like Chow era but it’s not. Thats because history repeats itself and this is common to have players leave college football programs for various reasons every year. I would just thank them for being Hawaii Warriors and Good Luck in their future endeavors.
Some come and some go. Bottom line is, it’s their decision in the end regardless of the reason. It’s about the name on the front and not on the back. NEXT!
The transfers of Warrior football players doe not really concern me, as a loyal supporter of our Warrior football team. My only concern is the current Warrior football players on the roster and incoming new recruits who love our State and support for our Warrior football team.
I’m excited for this upcoming 2018 football season with new staff coaches, the RUN AND SHOOT offense and the incoming recruits. Our Warriors should have a tall and heavy offensive line ready to be tested in a few months during opening of Spring practice. Our defensive line should be a lot of improvement from the disasterous 2017 season that I really like to forget.
Paniolo could not agree with you more. Got a feeling that recruiting is gonna finish strong. Not at all concerned with the coaches who departed, defense was a disaster for many reasons and receivers did not perform very well overall catching blocking and at times alignment. Offensive line seemed to have an inordinate amount of penalties that cost us dearly at key moments of several games. The incoming QB mix of McDonald, Moussa, and Cordero will provide a very interesting overhaul of the offense. As a player it falls on your shoulders to live into the original intent to commit work and contribute to a team at the highest level. I speak from personal experience of traveling a long way to play and stay-my parents saw 1 game…..I am ever so thankful for the opportunity to play for the University of Hawaii-I will remain ever so thankful. This upcoming season will have a different flavor and chemistry, I also see the energy and effort that was sorely missing at times will be restored-GoWarriors!!!!
Let us pray these young men make decisions in THEIR best interest. In the end, they must think about their future after football. When players transfer into UH, we don’t formulate and speculate on the fate of the previous program. We just say it wasn’t right for the player. Scott Pagano transferred AFTER winning a national title. Should we speculate doom for Clemson? Relax. Don’t push the button.
Watched Oregon play a couple times this season and didn’t see Pagano on the field. Was he injured?
im getting a little worried about the amount of transfers. hopefully its just a coincidence that so many potential starters are all leaving around the same time.
I would clarify and make a stark distinction between those transfers that have used up their UH eligibility and those who still have available eligibility. The former is a strict business decision and predicated on maximizing their entire college eligibility—the later is more about, generally speaking, about dissatisfaction with the existing program. Many of our guys are falling into the later category….

scholarship players leaving means more scholarships to be awarded? opens up recruiting to those on the bubble?
for example, will UH now offer a scholarship to Soli [ preferred walk-on ]?
A-House:
UH still is limited to signing 25 new players each year.
But this opens up some scholarships for walk-ons who have been in the program for at least two years. (If they’re here fewer than two years, then the scholarship would count as an initial, which would have to part of the 25.)
