C’mon, admit it, you thought the Warriors would be exactly where they are now.
After three games — a fourth of the regular season — the 2-1 Warriors beat the teams they were supposed to beat and lost a road game in which they were heavy underdogs.
So here’s the dealio:
> Bye week: Seven coaches remained on the road to recruit. The Warriors also can used the next two no-practice days to catch up on school work.
> Doing the splits: The Warriors only need to win half their MW games to qualify for the Hawaii Bowl.
> Fair conditions: Sure, it’s tough to open MW play in Laramie on Sept. 23. But the Cowboys will have played three games in row, including this coming week’s meeting against Oregon. The Warriors, meanwhile, will enter off a bye. Playing a game in balmy September is as good a situation, at least weather wise, that can be hoped.
Wyoming is a winnable game. Who else can play corner because manu did not look great.
Being first … or there about … I’ll focus on the positives. The UH offense played very well playing against a very talented Power 5 opponent. I’m now expecting at least five conference victories and as many as eight or nine victories going into the bowl game this Christmas! The best defense for the UH is to control the ball and score as often as possible.
At least we not The Ohio State University.
From 2 to 8. And the team that bucked their eye out gets to be # 2. Ouch!
And yet collegiate f-ball politics still allow The Ohio State University in a nat’ champainship running. And a Barrett still in the running as a Heisman candidate. 🙄
Kaiwi Chung needs more runs/catches in the playbook.
St Juste is a north/south runner, not a corner runner.
If Hawai’i wins versus Wyoming in Larame, they go (3-1) in the season and very much in contention for first place in MWC. That means a bowl appearance. It is like figuring out why an electronic device will work, or won’t work. The idea is there and soldered on the board. Working it piece by piece until finally the remote control works and fixed for the TV. Can they do this, 11-1 season? Sure.
There is a Ho’olaulea in Waikiki on the September 23rd, 2017. 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Saturday night. Kalakaua avenue. Game in Laramie, Wyoming. Other events happening at the same time as the game.
#1 totally agree with you. After 3games, Manu has not shown anything to warrant his starting spot or does that means we don’t have anyone better than him. That’s scary!!
Next 3 games winnable, offense I believe has to open the playbook and not get too predictable
After the next home game, I would be OK with a 3-2 record.
But I would feel mo bettah if we were 4-1 !!!

St. Juste is Still hurting. Taking it one game at a time is the situation. #22 plays big. He needs to keep at it. Also Tui Unga need to play well. #7. Dru, same too. Accurate passes are a must. Defense must come up big. Score, recover fumbles, interceptions. Hold third down conversions.

We are where I thought we would be. I figured we would have to score a lot to get the win. It will be a tough task in Cowboy country. Still we will need to score a lot to win.
The players starve on road games as the game just held in Pasadena, Ca. UCLA. So they actually get weaker, but look physically fit. I think it’s because they’re conserving money all the way until season’s end. Limited financing for some players. If they can just eat and work out, they’ll have enough energy to play at high speeds.
No bye, Hawaii loses.
The lack of a bye after the Ohio State game killed any chance for Norm Chow to succeed.
Hawaii isn’t playing Wyoming; they’re competing against their own bodies.
As Roger Waters put it: “The thin air.”
I think KITV once aired a game with Rick Quan as the play-by-play guy with a one-camera set-up positioned from high up in the press box.
Hawaii lost 14-9.

UofHawaii played with good effort. UofHawaii Coaching staff had no answer for UCLA’s passing attack. Good news is it’s unlikely UofHawaii will see a better offense than UCLA the rest of the way.
The real coaching begins now. It’s conference time. Go Warriors!
I think the Warriors can win all its remaining games except for San Diego State that beat Arizona St 30-20 yesterday. Still overly optimistic, perhaps, but UCLA was an exception with a great QB and receivers. Warriors won’t see another combo like that this season. Plus, Warriors have played well on the road under coach Rolo. The bye weeks will help players get healthy and prepare for both Wyoming and San Diego State.
Next year has no bye. Ouch
Not surprised at outcome. Key mistakes at crucial times on both sides ruled the day. Even though they played pitch and catch you could see how and why-we did in fact help them.
Last time in Wyoming Sean Schroeder led the team to triple OT thriller. Wyoming is a very young team and betting Oregon will exact a toll on them. Gonna be there-did my homework, love our chances! GoWarriors. (Just a reminder against AF last year no effect on energy at all)
Couple of observations. Chris Posa did just fine at rt tackle. I sure want Fred back asap. It appeared to be a shoulder or elbow injury. Get back asap Fred! Kaiwi Chung-rolling thunder is a devastating blocker but running the ball is what I hope for. Would not be surprised at a little movement on the OL. I do not criticize players and only mention by name if positive. There were a few times both critical where we did not get proper leverage on the D that allowed penetration and stops. Footwork and leverage are fixable think the defender threw off the blocker by aligning outside then crossing the face, a move exec cuted only by extremely quick strong personnel-GoWarriors!
Go Manu! Keep on grinding! Learn and move forward!

The best corner on the team is Wilson a scrappy kid that was actually being recruited by UCLA, why 14 was put in front of him probably has more to do with his ties to coaches than ability. And now unfortunately Wilson sustained a broken hand last week and played with a cast on.
They should Med- Red shirt him and let him get bigger and stronger for next season. The other DB’s gotta suck it up or it’s gonna be a long season!

#23 – ties to the coaches? When their jobs depend on performance? Players also have to follow assignments and think, it’s not only talent and skill. A coach know that.

I see fixable mistakes in the Bruin game. Sad to read that the Warriors aren’t fed well on games.

The Cowboys War Memorial Stadium stands 7,215′ above sea lavel. That salient fact vitiates any bye the Warrors may have or consecutive games Wyoming may have to play. Besides the elevation factor, the cowboys have an experienced QB and a great team. Cole McDonald runs Rolo’s Wolfpack QB run option to perfection and could be inserted as a dangerous wild card…if he connects with his passes…game is on, otherwise the Warriors D will wilt while gasping for scarce oxygen going up and down the field. Rolo has been grooming McDonald slowly…this is conference play on the road, time to bring the RS frosh on and present a double threat to our run game.
Not about the wins and losses for me. The concerns come from execution.
Same mistakes I see as far as penalties go. I get Pass Interference or holding happens. Not knowing how to line up on offense or Special Teams is not something I would give a pass on. Personal Fouls or unsportsmanlike conduct is also bad.
Top WRs shouldn’t be dropping fairly easy balls.
Our corners can’t cover anyone. I thought coaches should have made a bigger commitment to recruiting quicker footed and faster corners over the past 2 recruiting seasons. They went for size over coverage and it shows. Manu Rasmussen doesn’t look like a corner. Pass Rush hasn’t been there at all. Dru Brown looks like he is staying the same. Was hoping for a bigger step this year.
Positives: DSJ looks really good. Amazed how well he blocks. Runs hard and does everything. OL has impressed. Dru Brown has all day to throw. Posa should be starting RT and maybe Fred can move back to guard. Hope things can get fixed this week.

Actually, it was Tsai-ko Jason who first stared the “guess the score” in 2007.
I did it the other year at the request of The Punchbowl Kid, who was donating prize caps and wanted to ensure that it was managed. My reason for stopping was that I am a homer and didn’t like all the guesses against the home team. 😐

29. Maddog pointed out that at Air Force last year, 7258′, UH did okay.
However, the Wyoming QB can run better than the UCLA QB.
QB Josh Allen of Wyoming ran for 755 yards in 14 games last year. He did lose 232.
Falcon Stadium at ground level is 6,621′. Wyoming has the highest playing field in college Football DIA. As pointed out by others- Josh Allen and his RBs appear to run down slopes. They can and do tire teams at home. Our D will be hard pressed to maintain normal breathing. UCLA ran down the field over and over again against our D, it had major impact on outcome…Im just saying, for the warriors to establish a time consuming running attack (which is Brian Smiths’ first priority) can be more outcome probable with TWO running threats–St Juste and the QB. Cole McDonald adds to that feature. He hits his openings quick and has speed in the open. His high school stats bear recognition passing for over 2000 y and running for over 1000 in his senior year…plus he was a competitor in the 100 and 200 m sprints..Add that to a 6’4 frame and it bodes well for our O.Like I said, to stay in the game–Cole must execute more accurately on his passes.
I don’t think Wyoming’s Oline is as good as UCLA’s and didn’t the Warriors sack Rosen 2 times? and the back up once?
Chris Posa is our best O-Lineman. There, I said it again.
I agree that he did well at T, but he is a natural G. Our inside running game works in large part because he is able to get off his initial block and make another block on the second level. It’s stunning how effective he is. I honestly can’t remember a UH guard who was so good at that.
Jesse and Joe Onosai were pretty damn good at taking down the next level….

Tried to munch the game over. Lots of complaints about missed tackles and assignments….sometimes speed will make you look like you’re out of position. It can and does make you look like you just standing still. We got good boyz who can play but the bruins have better ones. This is the difference between conferences and programs.
I saw a Warrior team that can compete with anyone. Need the confidence to do so.
Time to heal up and get ready for the thin air and another good qb. Problem, how d you prepare for the thin air conditions? Go practice on Mauna Kea….but get permission first. Practice with dust mask. Dang things make it hard to breathe. Hate using them.
