    Baylor takes Set 1 25-18

  9. Warriorfan September 8, 2017 7:31 pm

Set Mags everytime, shame she has to go out in the backrow and isn’t a pin hitter.

  10. Cindy Luis September 8, 2017 7:34 pm

Sibley in for Koelsch on the right.

  11. Cindy Luis September 8, 2017 7:36 pm

Sibley with the kill. UH wins 25-14.

  17. warriorwahine September 8, 2017 8:00 pm

alright wahine! keep it up! dominate, now time for crush then destroy.

  18. Maverick September 8, 2017 8:00 pm

First two sets reflect UH’s overall play this season. Whoever thought 2017 Wahine volleyball wouldn’t be exciting was dead wrong.

I should take bets on which Wahine team shows up in Set 3.

  19. Cindy Luis September 8, 2017 8:23 pm

Baylor on a 5-0 run, three blocks, Castillo into the antenna and it’s 15-11 at the TTO

  20. Cindy Luis September 8, 2017 8:25 pm

Baylor challenging whether there was a touch on Castillo’s attempt

  21. Cindy Luis September 8, 2017 8:26 pm

Baylor wins the challenge it’s 16-11.

  22. HawaiiMongoose September 8, 2017 8:27 pm

Gotta say that this is the most “Jekyll and Hyde” Wahine volleyball team I think I’ve seen in 27 years of following the program. Watching them is exhilarating at times but more often incredibly frustrating.

  23. Cindy Luis September 8, 2017 8:28 pm

    Baylor up 17-12. TO UH

  24. warriorwahine September 8, 2017 8:29 pm

lets go bows. come on, dont fall asleep now!

  25. Cindy Luis September 8, 2017 8:34 pm

Burns with a couple of kills, brings UH to 21-15. Granato serves long. it’s 22-16. TO UH

  26. warriorwahine September 8, 2017 8:35 pm

    22. i guess we cant depend on wahine to win this year can we?

  27. Cindy Luis September 8, 2017 8:38 pm

    Baylor wins 25-18

  28. warriorwahine September 8, 2017 8:41 pm

i hate to say wahine go ahead and lose this 4th so i can go home early. please prove me wrong and win in 5

  29. Setaone September 8, 2017 8:46 pm

I hate this endline angle Spectrum keeps using

  30. Maverick September 8, 2017 8:47 pm

Continuing trend…when UH is leading, it plays very well. When behind, it plays poorly and can’t seem to come back. Story of the first three sets (and last night’s sets as well). And with a 5-2 lead in set 4, UH may just take this match to a fifth.

  31. Cindy Luis September 8, 2017 8:54 pm

we will set about a 5th.
Uh wins review with Granato’s kill landing in.It’s 11-6.

  32. Cindy Luis September 8, 2017 9:01 pm

Hawaii with its last challenge, on a no touch on Ross attempt

  33. Cindy Luis September 8, 2017 9:02 pm

    good call. it’s 18-12.

  34. Cindy Luis September 8, 2017 9:07 pm

obvious foot fault Crowd yelling but now call. UH wins the point 22-15 TO Baylor

  35. Maverick September 8, 2017 9:08 pm

Barring a monumental collapse, this is going five sets. UH wins if it can get an early lead in the final frame. If not…

UH really needs to get a 5-set win under its belt, just to derive some confidence that it can come back from being 2-1 down.

  36. Cindy Luis September 8, 2017 9:10 pm

good timeout for Hawaii. was 24-15. now 24-17.

  37. warriorwahine September 8, 2017 9:12 pm

robyn its time for your wahine to charge this 5 set and win!

block #4 katie staiger and #22 yossiana pressley and sunder the rest.

baylor lost some 5 sets after dominating that were ridiculous that should not be na wahine.

  38. Cindy Luis September 8, 2017 9:12 pm

    Granato ends it. 25-17

  39. Maverick September 8, 2017 9:14 pm

Interesting stat: Hawaii hitting .268, Baylor at .267. But UH has 37 more attempts.

  40. greenthumb September 8, 2017 9:16 pm

29, agree on angle. Camera work off compared to last year.

  41. warriorwahine September 8, 2017 9:24 pm

    charge now wahine!

  42. Cindy Luis September 8, 2017 9:28 pm

Hawaii up 10-8 in Set 5. TO Baylor

  43. Maverick September 8, 2017 9:29 pm

    UH getting a lead…

  44. HawaiiMongoose September 8, 2017 9:30 pm

I also agree with Setaone. Can’t stand the end line angle.

  45. HawaiiMongoose September 8, 2017 9:32 pm

    Threw away the lead. Damn.

  46. Maverick September 8, 2017 9:32 pm

Good timeout, before Baylor can go on a longer run.

  47. HawaiiMongoose September 8, 2017 9:40 pm

Whew!! Had my heart in my throat.

So happy to see the Wahine get the five-set monkey off their backs. Congratulations on a terrific comeback win.

  48. Maverick September 8, 2017 9:40 pm

Finally, a five-set win. UH really needed that for its confidence. Great job!

  49. warriorwahine September 8, 2017 9:41 pm

i am pleased to be proven wrong.

wahine must be battlehardened enough to finally do it!

  50. RoyGBivs September 8, 2017 9:46 pm

The team should stay out for the Alma Mater after the game. Show some a school pride!!

  51. Warriorfan September 8, 2017 9:58 pm

I think burns would have made a difference against The Bruins and Marquette, can see her experience from last season ( and length ) really help on the court.

if granato can keep playing this way I can see her keeping the conference POY streak alive for the wahine.

  52. Cindy Luis September 8, 2017 10:00 pm

    UH wins 16-14.

  53. T103 September 8, 2017 10:06 pm

WOOO HOOOOO so happy for the ladies! Good job, finally to be able to walk away with a win after all that hard work. And I’ll say it again, I really love Dave being in the commentating spot, what a pleasure to hear him speak about the teams performance, cuz you know he knows what he’s talking about. Even with him mentioning details about the other players from the other teams and their tendencies and our tendencies etc etc. Good job ladies, nice confidence booster, they deserved to finally win a 5-setter. Getting that 5-set monkey off their back!

  54. islandman September 8, 2017 10:35 pm

These Wahine play exciting volleyball !
Happy that Sibley, Ross and the others played well.

  55. auntyz September 8, 2017 10:49 pm

Those of us in the arena are getting our moneys worth, join the crowd, we are the wahine secret weapon.
Same cameras in the same places as before. the angle some of you don’t is probably a choice in the production truck.

  56. warriorwahine September 8, 2017 11:38 pm

    51. agreed. natasha made a substantial impact tonight

    54. yes. kirsten was outstanding at a over 56% hitting percentage. mckenna ross kept the defense and served tough to keep baylor at bay. and mckenna granato kept her muscle tonight

    55. moneys worth indeed, it was just gut wrenching but at least in the end satisfying

  57. oldtimer808 September 8, 2017 11:48 pm

#29 Finally someone else that sees the same thing that I do. The optics for a volleyball match using that camera angle is terrible. Do not follow what the NCAA tournament does during their volleyball tournaments. Oceanic never used that angle for good reasons so all these years I thought we had the best camera operators vs what the NCAA does during volleyball matches.

  58. nomu September 9, 2017 12:00 am

Really like McKenna Ross in back row. Great that there are always options for this team. Hope to see every player on this team improve and get physically stronger week to week, because that is what it will likely take to make it to the postseason.

  59. Ashley September 9, 2017 1:03 am

i know Ross was moved to the outside but she clearly belongs in the back row. her defensive skills really showed against Baylor and i think she would be better suited as a DS. she, burns and Sibley really shined tonight. too bad we never got to see Skyler and Sophia play, but i was delighted to see Natasha finally back on the court.

  60. Amosilatus September 9, 2017 4:48 am

The end line angle for television is no good for volleyball. Can’t see what is happening at the net due to lack of visual depth in that area!

  61. FitTrainer September 9, 2017 4:52 am

Agree with Setatone on end view camera angle!

Great showing by Maglio and Granato!

Strong contribution by Burns, Sibley and Ross (back row).

Too many serving errors almost cost us.

Overall, great confidence booster and hopefully will help RPI some. Shoji called it in five! Let’s hope heyrigjt about repeating as Conference champions too.

Enjoyed the interview with Maglio (and Shoji).

  62. Lori September 9, 2017 8:03 am

Remember in the past, we had a team called the Cardiac kids because of the roller coaster of the wins. Well, I think these girls are Cardiac Kids #2. As Kanoa said, not for the faint of the heart. Great great comeback after the disappointing loss to BYU I’m sure the girls felt.

  63. AstroBoy September 9, 2017 9:37 am

I have not been a big fan of Ross, but she really pulled the Bows out of the fire in this match. Definitely shining as a back row DS. Strange game, lots of players contributed who haven’t been very productive before.

  64. livealoha September 9, 2017 10:34 am

Think Hawaii *may* be finding the right lineup. I like Sibley on the right. She gives Hawaii honest swings, versus Koelsch, who has really only trained as a hitter this season. Sibley will need to greatly improve her blocking and I feel like her vertical got worse? Still, I’ve wondered why she was out so much earlier since I thought she had some stellar hitting games as a freshman last year – altho up and down.

Ross in the back row is best fit. She’s quite the defender – better than average passer. Think she’d be Ah Mow’s libero next season.

Assuming Hawaii beats Nevada tonight, 3 of their 4 losses were to rank teams after three tourneys. Hawaii has had stretches like this in recent years to start the season. Main thing is they take care of the Big West – which is pretty deplorable right now aside from Cal Poly and UCI – both of which have nice records but got taken out easily by Power 5 schools.

  65. connor September 9, 2017 1:17 pm

Stop Granato from serving!!!! she gets an ace here and there but makes at least 2 errors to offset. is there no way to spread the opportunities? 60+ swings a game for someone barely able to hit over .200 is silly.

  66. Cindy Luis September 9, 2017 2:58 pm

    http://www.hawaiiwarriorworld.com/?p=44658
new thread up for saturday’s byu-baylor match.
    65. they will keep Granato in for serving, serve receive and the 3-meter attack. Did you only look at the stats and not see the match? a number of her swings are on the bail-us-out balls, no other option
but agree that Iosia goes to her to much when there seems to be other options. But, then, it’s a split second decision and I’m not the one setting.
